"The Best Camera" app question

Just downloaded "The Best Camera" app. It's nice, but I can't get the Crop tool to work. (The tool doesn't seem to have a name, but its icon is like the Crop tool in Photoshop.) When I tap it, a box appears with the header "Square" and an Apply button, but no marquee appears on the photo and when I tap Apply nothing happens. The app has no Help. Any ideas, many thanks.

Don't know, but I got rid of most photo editing apps I had and opt for the one Photoshop themselves released for free.

  • What is the best camera app out

There for 3g, zoom mainly but an overall package as well

As with beauty, best is in the eye of the beholder.
Any of the camera apps I have looked at cost very little. The best thing to do is check the features a camera app includes along with reading the reviews and the overall rating of the app, which can be provided only by those who have purchased/downloaded a paid or free app. Spring for a buck or two for several paid apps that include the features you want/need and have good reviews and an overall good rating. Use all and decide which one you think is best.

  • What's the best thesaurus app for iPhone 4S?

I'm looking for the best thesaurus app for my new iPhone 4S.
The best I've seen listed to so far is the Oxford English version for $24.99 Canadian. All the rest are Roget II or those A-Z thesauri which I've never liked.
I prefer the Roger's International Thesaurus (remember in school that yellow paperback thesaurus with the kangaroo on the front?) which has all the words divided by subject in the front, and all the words listed alphabetically in the back, subdivided by meaning, and have a number listed as to where it is in the front (ie GREEN noun greenness 44.1 verdigris 44.3 lawn 310.7 adjective inexperienced 414.17 new 841.7 etc etc etc).
I would like to find an app version of that (320,000 words and phrases in 1072 categories according to the back of the book) or the closest version.
Is there such a thing or is the Oxford English version the closest I will come to it? I consider this one of the most important apps I will put on my phone. Even more important than Facebook. haha

    depends
    some people dock to
    sync with their computer
    some to charge
    some to use audio out
the answer to your question really comes down to what you are trying to do

  • What is the best Radio app for Iphone with poor Signal

    hi folks
i live in rural shropshire, UK and where there is a poor signal reception and no 3G so i was hoping if someone could tell me what is the best radio app with about 2-3 bars of signal on O2 please can someone help thx

Well, 2(.(7)5)G (GPRS/EDGE) is still sufficient for a lot of (mostly HE-AACv2) streams - they're between 24 and 40 kbps, . That is, first, check out whether there are favorite stations in the station directory of the HE-AACv2-specific radio app "Tuner2 Hi-Fi Radio". Note that there are other HE-AACv2-capable clients but this one is the best.
Below is an excerpt from the dedicated section of my all-in-one iPhone radio article, just discussing these questions. Sorry, there are no links or not any kind of formatting in the text - I just couldn't paste it by keeping them.
    2.1 3G vs. 2.(7)5G vs. Wi-Fi
Whenever possible, deactivate 3G (if you have a second- or third-generation iPhone used in a compatible 3G network, that is). Why? It’s easy: I’ve made some very thorough experiments with power consumption when streaming over cellular (mobile phone) connections. For this, I’ve listened to a 31 kbps VBR HE-AACv2 stream in Pocket Tunes. I’ve measured the battery life decrease of 0.6%/minute when streaming in 3G and 0.3%/minute when doing the same in 2.75G (EDGE) and 2.5G (GPRS). This means streaming 3G consumes two times more battery than in 2.75G with a stream that, when streamed over Wi-Fi, consumes 0.18% power a minute.
This also means that, even if you have an unlimited Internet data plan, try using Wi-Fi whenever possible because it’s almost two times more battery-friendly than even 2.75G (EDGE) / 2.5G (GPRS) – and 3.3 (that is, 60/18) times more so compared to 3G.
Having to rely on pre-3G stream speeds means the following:
    - If you only have GPRS connection (but not EDGE), select a station broadcasting at less than 35-40 kbps to avoid pauses and stuttering. You can easily see if your phone is in GPRS only: then, to the right of the name of your network, there is a circle and not the capital letter ‘E’ (it’s '3G' when in 3G mode and it’s here that the Wi-Fi signal is shown when operating over Wi-Fi.)
Note that, with some networks (for example, Vodafone in some? all? countries) there’s no EDGE at all. There, you either use 3G or GPRS. The latter rules out all stations with speeds over 40 kbps. If this is the case, you will most probably have to rely on HE-AACv2 (also known as AAC+) streams, should you want good audio quality and stereo sound. The other formats, MP3, AAC-LC (the two formats natively supported by the built-in QuickTime player) and WMA are completely unable to deliver good, stereo audio quality under 40 kbps; OGG is able, but around 36-38 kbps, which may result in stuttering over lower-quality GPRS connections or congested network.
You can find a lot of AAC+ streams at http://dir.xiph.org/by_format/AAC+ and http://yp.shoutcast.com/. Note that, with the latter, you will want to click radio stations with AAC+ type (see the last column). Unfortunately, unlike with collecting with MP3 stations only, you will not want to tap the header of the last, “Type” column, to order them to collect all AAC+ stations at the end of the list because it’s not possible to easily jump to the end of this list. (Tapping will only order the stations in a way that the list starts with MP3 ones; that is, stations well above 40 kbps - and the few that broadcast under 40kbps, do so with awful audio quality.)
Note that moodio.fm (which, as with the former two, stream directories, that is, xiph.org and shoutcast.com, has been introduced in section 1. Built-in capabilities: QuickTime), by default, also uses AAC+. As with the former two stations, in order to play back these AAC+ streams in an AAC+-capable radio player (the built-in QuickTime isn’t one of them) like Pocket Tunes Radio or FStream, you’ll want to copy these links to the clipboard and, then, paste them into a custom, user-defined station in these apps (as long as you don’t find a station of your liking in the built-in station directories of these radio clients). To do so,
    1. in Safari, long-tap the link and, then, select “Copy” from the context menu
    2. Switch to the radio station, go to its dedicated custom station entry dialog (with FStream, Favorites / Edit / Add new webradio at the bottom; with Pocket Tunes, Favorites / Edit / +) and tap the URL field a bit longer after cleaning it entirely (if there’s a http:// in it; with FStream, there isn’t). You’ll see a Paste flag (icon) as in this screenshot
    3. Just tap it; the station URL will be pasted to the field
    4. You can also give your station a name
(Note that you can also manipulate the favorite list of FStream via Wi-Fi, from a desktop Web browser. It offers a far faster way of adding and deleting favorites.)
Note that Pocket Tunes Radio also has a built-in Web browser. If you navigate from it to, say, m.moodio.fm or yp.shoutcast.com, you won’t need to do any copy / pasting like explained in the previous section. FStream (my other pick for HE-AACv2 playback) doesn’t have a Web browser. Note that several other (except for ooTunes, not that recommended) players also have a built-in browsers. You can do exactly the same in all of them except for eingrad’s RadioBOX, which, currently, has bugs in its Web browser: when you tap a link, the playback (if the built-in QuickTime is compatible with it) will start in QuickTime and not in the built-in player. (The developers stated they would fix this bug some time.)

  • What is the best iPad app to do basic editing of movie clips?

What is the best ipad app do some basic editing (top and tailing and deleting unwanted segments) of movies loaded to iPad directly from camera.
Iam going on a cruise and will not have access to my computer.
    Thanks.

IMovie : Apple : is the best App for Video Editing,
After you Edit Movie it will be stored on the Ipad.
You would require 32 or 64 GB IPAD, Video does take a lot of space.

  • How Do I Wrap Text Like the iOS Camera App?

Hello. I am in yearbook, and I have been challenged with designing the cover of the yearbook, and I have been having a few problems along the way. One of these problems is to wrap text. Specifically, I'm stuck on how I would wrap text like the iOS camera app on the bottom of the screen. The words seem like they are wrap around a 3D object to give it that effect, but I can't really tell. If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

There is a big difference between being a casual user than real work or development. I own a iPod its a great MP3 player and a device I can display my pictures on out of my pocket. I'll even Facetime my kids at time to see my grand kids or help fix something.  My wife has a mini iPad for quick internet access and quire music and uses her iPod to entertain our two year old grandson with games.   She uses a Canon 1D mark 4 and I a Cannon 1D mark II.  The only use the iPad and iPod cameras get is Facetime. No iOS apps are use to work on images  they have no value when you have Photoshop. The iPod is better for displaying image then the iPad mini it has a 3:2 aspect ratio display and travels better the the mini iPad which has a 4:3 aspect ratio display.  I also crop image for display on wall mounted HDTV. The iPad is better for casual internet access then the iPod. All our kids have iPhones and they all use computers either Mac or PC for work and internet access.  When you have a Unix or Windows why would you want to touch an iOS device for work or serious internet access.  Apple mobile devices are convenient for casual use and grand kids don't get that dirty finger painting on them as they do using real paint. Nothing of real value is maintained on an iOS device.
Well...there's Photoshop Touch and Photoshop Mix as well as Lightroom Mobile. It could be argued that they're don't exactly mirror their desktop cousins, yes, but they weren't meant to be. They were meant as extensions to the desktop experience.  (e.g., Lightroom Mobile lets one work with the RAW images they have in their Lightroom desktop collections.)
The more powerful Windows tablets can run Photoshop desktop (like Photoshop CC) too.
@bluebocat: Are you looking for text with a perspective? Like it has a vanishing point? As if it was turned in a certain direction in 3D space?

Yeah, I know I can restore it, but I might as well go ahead and try. I just finished a backup for icloud and itunes to make sure, I'll go ahead and restore it and set it up as new and see how that works. Seems like I have no other options at this point, I'd still like to know what they did with the Download tab in itunes store, if they removed it or if I'm just overlooking it.

  • What is the best camera for me?

I don't know much at all about cameras, so I'm really hoping someone will be able to help me! I'm looking for a camera that's better than your standard point and shoot digital camera but one that doesn't cost a fortune. I want to be able to take pictures of NASCAR cars going down the track without them being blurry. I would also like to be able to take pictures of things that are sitting still or aren't going quite 200 mph. I guess I just want an all around good camera that also has the ability to take good, non-blurry pictures of NASCAR cars in motion. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the best camera and/or lense would be for this. Thanks so much for your help!

This is one instance where good gear helps but knowing how to use it properly is more important. Panning skills will be important, & so will choosing the right focal length of lens. I'll assume you have to shoot from the stands but don't know how far you'll be from the stretch of track you're hoping to shoot the cars along. A camera with a good AF system matched to a lens with fast AF capabilities will help too, but you could do this old school & use manual settings & manual focus too. You would set up the camera based on the lighting favoring a Tv that can freeze the car but blur the background & wheels / tires. Then you pick an ISO to allow shooting in the f8 range at that Tv & pre focus on the section of track in front of you. Pan with the car or group of cars as they go by & take a few shots while they are in the zone you've pre focused on.
If however you're really serious about it & think you'll attend enough events to justify spending the money the 7D, 1D2n, 1D3 & 1D4 are all worthy bodies for action thanks to their AF systems & frame rate. For lenses I suggest considering any of these as a starting point but again you may need longer depending on access to the action. 70-200 f4 L, or the IS version or maybe the f2.8 versions but since the 70-300 L IS seems to have both a very fast & accurate AF system it would be my first choice as a from the stands starting point. The 100-400 L would be my next addition to a motorsports kit but I don't think it's the lens I'd start with.
As for setting up a camera for action (DSLR's but some P & S may work too) I wrote an article which is a good starting point & the suggested shutter speeds for prop planes fit a rookie shooting motorsports so I recommend reading this plus use the link in my last post for another set of lessons from Canon that you should read.
    http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/showthread.php?t=147971
As a side note I started attending R/C events to work on my panning skills so I'd be better at the track. A smooth panning swing is developed through practice & it's the key to good results, and follow through after the last shot in each sequence.

  • I am putting together a proposal for a Final Cut Pro Workstation to use with a tapeless HD camera.  Can anyone suggest the best camera (in the 5-10,000 dollar range) ?  What hardware and software should I include in the package?

I am putting together a proposal for a Final Cut Pro Workstation to use with a tapeless HD camera.  Can anyone suggest the best camera (in the 5-10,000 dollar range) ?  What hardware and software should I include in the package?

This is quite an open suggestion, but here are some ideas which might get you started.  There are good HD cameras in your price range from Sony, Panasonic and Canon (and maybe other manufacturers). Tapeless formats vary.  I have only worked with Sony XDCAM which seems pretty good to me.  File sizes for material shot at 35MBS are not too huge and, with the free Sony transfer and conversion programme, are easy to bring into the computer via USB direct from the camera or from a fairly inexpensive converter.  The Sony XDCAM EX3 can produce results well up to broadcast quality.
As to hardware, you'll need a powerful MAC - iMac, Macbook Pro or MacPro with 4GB or more of RAM and a good video card.  Softwarewise, FCPX is quite a bit cheaper than FC Studio 3 and of course it's 64bit and can make better use of multi-core machines than FCP7.    It's also designed to handle HD formats with less hassle than FCP7 and is matched to the latest versions of Motion and Compressor.   But you'd probably be wise to search reviews of FCPX before you make your choice - it has some issues.
A good HD monitor will be essential and, for colour correction etc, you may want to consider a second monitor or HD TV foe editing. ( A MacPro is generally the best machine to connect a second monitor to).
This should give you a good editing system, but there are many other things you could add (Photoshop, professional sound monitors, etc)
    Hope this helps a bit.

It's a built-in app, so it can't be deleted nor downloaded from the store. If you can't find it on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Camera being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
