The Best External Battery for 5th Gen iPod

I read something a while back about a new external battery for the iPod that gets ridiculous results. Im talking about 80 worth of music playback and 20 hours of video. But I cant remember the name of it. Does anyone else know which one Im talking about?
KT

There are tons of different external battery packs, systems and do it yourself solutions out there for iPods as well as generic USB devices. So unless you know something more specific about the one you saw, I doubt any of us can pin point it with "external" and lots of power, as most of them boost this stuff.
Do a web search and you will likely find many more candidates.

Has anyone purchased this product (http://www.batterygeek.net/xcart/product.php?productid=16155)?
It sounds wonderful, but I'm hesitant to buy it without hearing some opinions on it. I have yet to find a review of it. If someone has one of these, could you please let me know what you think of it?

  • Hi, can anyone tell me the capacity of battery for 5th gen ipod video?

Hi just a purchased what was advertised as a 850mAh battery for iPod and received a 480mAh instead. Guess where i bought it? eBay of course, should have known better i didnt even think you could get a batt. of that strength for 30g. i have emailed the seller but wanted to know what the actual capacity was as i dare'nt open my iPod at this stage. Any advice would be helpful, thanks Dolly.

You didn't mention which of the video iPods you have as they use slightly different batteries.
But, the 30GB uses a smaller battery in that range you mention, something like 450-500mAh. You can buy better ones rated at about 550mAh from online retailers.
For the 60 and 80 GB models, both of those use larger 850mAh batteries.
So if you use a 30GB iPod, despite the advertisement saying they carried 850mAh batteries, which would be only for 60/80GB models, you basically got the correct battery. Although as I said, you can buy slightly higher capacity ones for the 30GB if you wanted, but not double.

  • What is the best external battery for iphone 4s

what is the best external battery for iphone 4s

I bought the Mophie juice pack™ powerstation from the Apple store for $80. It has more then enough power to quickly boost the charge on my iPhone4S to an acceptable level. It requires the standard 30pin/USB Apple cord to plug into it.
But unless you need to charge your phone from 5-100%, this battery is overkill. It's a real hassle having the Apple cord connected to your phone whilst there's a battery in your pocket and you end up looking quite strange with your "corded" smartphone.
I might recommend a battery case (Mophie has these), but they don't offer the protection that I need (I use a LifeProof case).  Instead I would buy a smaller Mophie juice pack™ reserve (keychain, direct plug) to get out of a bind and then charge up your iPhone in the car, wall, airplane, etc.
My only concern with the above (direct plug batteries) is that the slightest bump and the battery becomes a lever that could break the 30 pin plug on your phone, just like that warily flimsy feeling when you put an iPhone in a dock.
Hope that helps, at least in the Mophie department!

  • What is the best external battery to use with a macbook pro retina?

Looking for the best option here. What is the best external battery to use with a macbook pro retina?

You should check your date of purchase against the manufacturer's warranty
or guaranty since some of those better brands have some recourse should
they fail within a specified time period. A good reason to save dated receipts.
Since solid-state USB drives probably don't (all) use a wear-leveling software
to equally utilize their recordable space evenly, it is possible that some of these
may exhibit a failure in some sector areas due to excessive over-writing. If the
ones you use do not have such a technology or an undercounted total capacity
with a means to automatically write in other sections, you may have to consider
manually using a disk utility to zero-overwrite and reformat them occasionally.
Even so, that may only help a marginal flash or thumb drive work a little longer.
Should a camera memory card fail you still may be able to attempt with margin of
success, to +recover image files+ from it. re: http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec
The standard default format they ship with works well for most file types; so if
you aren't moving OS X or Mac app specific files around on a USB flash drive,
the original format should be fine. Oh, you can use Disk Utility to attempt to do
a repair; but in some cases you may have to reformat them, etc.
    {Some of the flash drive warranties or guarantees may vary from between regions;
so if you have one with a '5 Year' guarantee in the US, other rules may apply in EU,
    or when you seek to replace an item under warranty outside of where it was bought.}
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • What is the Best External HD for Massive iTunes Library?

    Hello,
I recently lost my entire 140 GB iTunes library (along with hours of raw and edited video and audio recordings) when my cheap Iomega 500GB decided to start making a ticking noise and crap out on me. I had my library backed up through iTunes on 9 DVDs a year ago, but i still lost everything I had accumulated over the past year and a half.
I am looking for the best external HD with the fastest transfer rate (USB/Firewire 400). My top priority is reliability and I need my data to be secure and safe, not necessarily disaster proof like ioSafe drives, although I would like it to be able to take a simple fall in case something were to happen while moving it. I just don't want to have to go through this again.
I have also heard about making my own external HD but am clueless about the process. Might this be a better option?
I am also entertaining the thought of buying an Acer One 160GB to use strictly for my iTunes Music (no video) since I would like to make my library more portable. I read an article about moding one to run Leopard, but the directions were a bit over my head. I guess I could put up with Windows (EEEK!) just for iTUnes Music purposes. Help!!!
I have a Macbook 2GHz Intel Core Duo and 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM and use an 8GB iPod Touch. (if this makes a difference)

i know this isn't exactly what you are looking for but it REALLY works for me & covers a few ( if not all..) of your requisites.
i have 2 WD 2Tb My Book external drives for my iTunes library : one is the library , the other is the back up & is usually disconnected just in case....
then i have the very same set-up for video/movies. the whole shebang connected through Logitech USB powered hubs & i NEVER have any hiccups during music/video playback. then my iMac is connected via an external USB sound card - M-Audio.. - to my stereo & via mini-DVI to HDMI to my plasma display. how well does it work ? bloody amazing, i'm done with DVD players & CD players.
although it has faster data transfer rates, i think you don't REALLY need to go FW- a lot more expensive drives... - & if 2Tb drives are a little too much , check out WD range, they do have smaller drives although i have found that the 1Tb drives have the best capacity/price/performance ratio, at least here in Portugal
maybe you could set up something static at home with a beefier ( capacity wise..) drive & then have a smaller , both capacity & size wise to go on the move ?
    best wishes

  • ITALK FOR 5TH GEN IPOD? or similar?

    Hi,
I used a Griffin iTalk for voice recording with my 3rd Gen Ipod and now I just bought a 5th gen Ipod (30g) and obviously the iTalk doesnt work. Is there a voice recording accessory for the new 5th gen Ipod available somewhere on the market?
    Thank You
    Jadee

Currently no. Several manufacturers have advertised forthcoming voice recorders for the 5th gen, but so far there are none on the market.

  • Very poor Customer Service for 5th Gen IPOD

    Hello,
I have been trying to get the missing parts for the 5th Gen Ipod Video I received for Christmasfor the past couple of hours. The box was never opened and wrapped in cellophane. It is missing the earbuds, foam earbud pads and usb cable along with anything else that comes with it. So I go on the tech support site and nothing is offered for missing parts. I call customer service who then tells me I have to call Tech support. I call Tech support who then transfers me to customer service. Customer service then tells me that if it wasn't ordered thru Apple.Com I'm SOL. I asked to speak to a manager. Shannon in customer service instead transfers me back to Tech support. So I waited and politely spoke to them telling them what I have gone thru. Justin in Tech support asks me to hold for a couple of minutes which I do then he disconnects me. I'm on the website looking for an email to Apple customer service and can't find one. Can anybody help with an email contact to get my missing parts. Taking the IPOD back would involve shipping back up North to have the person who gave it to me as a gift to take it back then reship it back to me. I had never had an issue with previous IPODS and this is just insane.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Sorry for all of the trouble
    Call this number again...
    1-800-275-2273
And tell them what has happened, what you have gone through, etc. Be polite and just say that you are just looking to get headphones that didn't come with (although I find this strange, but I'm not at all saying that you are lying).
Apple doesn't really have email support for iPods, so I'd just call again and explain what you've gone through.
    Good Luck!

  • Still no microphone for 5th gen. iPod

I'd just like to know why /if i'm right/ there's still no microphone compatible with 5th gen ipod with video. It's been ages... Come on Apple, Belkin, Griffin, ... I need it!!! I'm a teacher!

d just like to know why /if i'm right/ there's still no microphone compatible with 5th gen ipod with video. It's been ages
Since your a teacher, you will know it is not available, most likely because it is not finished.
It’s only been 6 months, which is far less than a single “age” let alone many “ages”.

  • Best "How to" books on the market for 5th Gen Ipods?

Can anyone suggest the best, most comprehesive and easy to understand book explaining the Ipod? On Amazon.com there are dozens to choose from...

I purchased "Absolute Beginner's Guide to iPod and iTunes by Brad Miser. Pretty good overview. B&N price $21.99
One problem though.... initially had a problem when the ipod sync'd my 1880 photos. Couldn't find the answer on how to eliminate them in this book. (found the info on this site).

  • What is the best external microphone for iPad Air? Primarily for interviews...

I produce DSLR videos and record audio separately, then both are synced on my iMac. I used to use my iPod Touch (4th Gen) as a pocket mic with my Seinheiser lavalier, but it died in a tragic wash/dry cycle and I now use my new iPad Air.
Unfortunately, my Seinheiser mic is designed with a screw-on mic input, which rattles and pops my audio from time to time. I am familiar with the very inexpensive iRig line (and their accompanying mobile apps), but you get what you pay for and I am looking to invest in something higher quality.
The Air is pretty new and I dont expect there to be a lot of options, but given the limitations of the headphone port, I am hoping for the best.
    Much appreciated!

  • What is the best external drive for Macbook Pro?

Migration Assistant is not moving files from my Macbook OS X 10.5.8 to My new Macbook Pro just purchased. Apple Support suggested I transfer thru an external drive. They suggested a 1 TB. They said it would be sufficient for migration and afterward for back up and storage of media and pics. What would be the best one for this purpose?
    Thank You

Go to OWC and purchase a drive and an enclosure. Put it together yourself. Takes about five minutes and a screwdriver. Or you can purchase one already complete from them if you prefer.

  • What's the best external battery pack to bring when traveling abroad?

We're planning on going to Europe for our honeymoon and figured we'll probably need our phones to get around, translate things, etc and would hate to be in the middle of nowhere with a dead phone. Which external battery packs would you recommend? I'm open to getting more than one....one that's small and light and bring with me, and another to keep at the hotel.
    Thank you!

My favorite (and I have 3) is MyCharge: http://www.amazon.com/myCharge-Peak-6000-Rechargeable-Power/dp/B008PQAFTM/ref=sr _1_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1410566545&sr=1-1&keywords=mycharge.
The reason is that it is the only one that has a built in charger to recharge the MyCharge itself. Simply flip out the prongs and plug it in to any US outlet or any foreign outlet with a plug adapter. No separate power supply to carry around (and potentially lose). It also has built in plugs to charger other USB devices. You will need a Dock to Lightning adapter from Apple for the iPhone 5 and later, but it works fine with that also.
