The best of java pdf Viewer ?

What is the best of java pdf Viewer with free license?
Thanks

About the only decent java PDF viewer is Multivalent. It's a bit quirky, but does a fairly good job. Unfortunately, it doesn't currently support printing.
Adobe's java viewer is ancient, not worth wasting your time with.

  • How can I disable the new built-in PDF-viewer?

    Hi Folks,
I recently got a strange problem with Nightly 15.0a1. All PDF documents are opened with the new built-in PDF viewer and it does not matter if it´s enabled or disabled - it just always opens and renders/loads the PDF file. But I want it to be done by Acrobat Reader, or save it to disk.
I tried Tools-->Options--->Applications and marked all PDF related stuff to "ask" or selected the Acrobat Reader, but it did not help at all.
Can anyone help me with this?

  • Which is the best free Java Obfuscator?

    Hello,
I am planning to deploy my application using Java Webstart and to protect my code from reverse engineering wondered - which is the best free Java Obfuscator?
    thanks,
    Anil

    Herko,
Thanks for your insight. With your explanation, I have more respect for your approach. I am a (struggling) one-man startup trying to get this thing off the ground. Yes, my idea can be learned by seeing it in action. That is why, advisors have told me to yank the demo from the web site (http://juwo.com)
I would hate to see someone else steal what I have done with a lot of trouble and even worse, use my own source code to do so. In short, I dont want to be a fool.
    thanks,
    Anil
I know the Proguard product, as well as several other
obfuscation tools. I know obfuscated stacktraces can
be reversed (as long as you go through the extra
trouble of maintaining the obfuscation mappings for
each version of the software you release). That was
    not my point.
I work for (and am part owner of) a small software
development company. We have invested 9 years into
writing enterprise-quality software that is provided
to customers all over the world. We used to think we
needed to obfuscate our software too. However, we
have found that the source code is by far the
least important aspect of what we do as far as
most of the outside world is concerned. Which
is why we have been developing a major part of our
software as Open Source since 1999. Which is why we
have switched completely to an Open Source strategy
earlier this year. That's right: all of our code is
(or soon will be) freely available to anyone,
    anywhere.
We have learned over the years that the most
important aspect of our work is not the code, but the
idea behind it. Obviously, this idea can not be
obfuscated without defeating the entire purpose of
the software. This means others are able to learn
about the idea just by seeing the software in action.
That alone enables them to implement that same idea.
The fact that they might use our source code to do it
    is largely irrelevant.
Going one step further, the most important aspect of
our work is actually the way we - the people who
made the software - use that idea solve the real
problems of our customers. It is that knowledge our
customers ultimately pay for, not the code.
With very, very few exceptions the basic idea of your
code will not be unique on a global market like the
Internet: sooner or later (and from our experience,
it's always sooner) someone will have the same idea.
Their implementation of that idea might be better
than yours, or it might be worse. What ultimately
matters, though, is wether or not you are able to
convince customers that the idea itself is sound.
    Customers buy solutions, not code.

  • What is the best practice for changing view states?

I have a component with two Pie Charts that display
percentages at two specific dates (think start and end values).
But, I have three views: Start Value only, End Value only, or show
Both. I am using a ToggleButtonBar to control the display. What is
the best practice for changing this kind of view state? Right now
(since this code was inherited), the view states are changed in an
ActionScript function which sets the visible and includeInLayout
properties on each Pie Chart based on the selectedIndex of the
ToggleButtonBar, but, this just doesn't seem like the best way to
do this - not very dynamic. I'd like to be able to change the state
based on the name of the selectedItem, in case the order of the
ToggleButtons changes, and since I am storing the name of the
    selectedItem for future reference.
Would using States be better? If so, what would be the best
    way to implement this?
    Thanks.

I would stick with non-states, as I have always heard that
states are more for smaller components that need to change under
certain conditions, like a login screen that changes if the user
    needs to register.
That said, if the UI of what you are dealing with is not
overly complex, and if it will not become overly complex, maybe
states is the way to go.
Looking at your code, I don't think you'll save much in terms
    of lines of code.

  • Open PDF with the built in Firefox PDF Viewer on Google Drive

I can't seem to get PDF Files to open on some websites.
For example I use Google Drive for Documents and to print them you need to use a PDF, I try to open the PDF but it just makes me download it. Is their anyway for this to get working?

You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu.

  • What is the best App for filing, viewing, editing excel?

I need help choosing the best app to work with excel for the ipad. I have mariner calc and am unhappy with it. It drops out quite a bit of formatting and you cannot file in folders. What is the best option?
    Thanks!

To Edit excel files the best app right now is currently Numbers, Numbers is severely limited in file organization and sharing right now. If all you need to do is look at excel files you have a couple options.
    Option 1 (Requires Connectivity):
Place the file on the web and view it in safari
    Option 2 (Offline use):
Use Goodreader to download and save your files, you can create folder Heiarchies and copy files from your computer using a sync cable from itunes, via email, or even through wifi.
If you can find something that combines the two options please let me know as I have been looking for solutions to this problem too. I wish apple had a shared folder space where apps could save files to be used in multiple programs much like they do with the photo albums

  • What is the best format for PDF's to render quickly on the iPad

I have constructed an enterprise application that display's numerous CAD PDF plans. It has been noticed that some take longer to render than others. Does anyone have any suggestions on the ideal specification that PDF's should be created?

Unless you need color, print them to pdf as B&W. Also, turn off Layers so everything is in one flat pdf.

  • What is the best approach for doing view logic?

Hi, I have a jsp page that receives an array of strings and a set of strings from a servlet. The set contain elements of the array. The page must print all the array values and which values are contained in the set. My first implementation just construct a checkbox for each array value using jstl c:forEach. To determine if they are checked or not I use some scriptlet. Without using scriptlet, the servlet would need to help by providing a new type of data. Also, if I needed to sort in ascending order the checkboxes, then I would need to use scriptlet, or the servlet would need to do the ordering before passing the array. Using the servlet to prepare the data, if the view now need to change ordering to descending, then I should change the servlet.
My doubt is, when doing view logic, what is better, to spread it into view and servlet, or to leave it in view only? I know the recommendation is to not use scriptlet in views, but jstl alone sometimes doesnt provide the needed support for constructing views

Write your own custom tags to handle to cases where JSTL alone is not sufficient. Also, you may use expression language (EL) and have custom EL functions. Avoid writing scriptlet in JSP and instead of writing view processing logic in servlets use custom tag handler or EL functions to handle UI display logic.

  • What is the best way to PDF an entire website

I have Adobe Acrobat XI.  I tried to create a PDF of an entire website, but after spending almost a day, the program crashed at around 14,000 pages.  There were also some pages that it seemed to capture more than once.  However, the file is corrupt, so I can't open it.
I am trying to PDF an entire blog.  I could use another program, such as HTTRACK or programs like it, however, I want the pages PDFed.
Is there any way that in running the PDF entire website feature that it splits each separate page into a separate PDF?  This way I could end up with a folder of each page all separately PDFed and should anything crash, I don't lose everything.
    Another option?
I am using a Mac OS X 10.9.4, Intel Core i7, with 16 DDR3 ram, with plenty of hard drive space.

Thanks.  However, I did restrict to the same path.  As to the number of levels down, wouldn't I want the maximum as I want the entire blog.  Blogs have this "older stories" link at the end of the page which leads to the older stories.  I want to get all articles on the site.
If I can't use the entire site feature, not automatically have each URL as a different PDF, is there another solution? Rather than doing it by hand?

  • What's the Best Way to Create/View a VCF?

    Hello Everyone,
I'm new to iCloud. All I want to do is get my contacts to display on my computer. A text file, loaded into Outlook, an Excel doc, whatever.
So I went to iCloud, logged in, clicked Contacts... awesome, it's all there. I love it.
Then I click on the gear symbol, click select all, click export vcf.
"The First Contact and 231 others.vcf"
    Click save.
Go to downloads and open vcf with Outlook -- only see the first contact -- where's the rest?
Open with Windows Contacts -- 231 INDIVIDUAL contact boxes open up, some without the numbers, just the names.
My Word, Excel, Acrobat cannot open vcf.
Can anyone recommend a program that converts the vcf into a straight-forward readable list?
So am I creating this vcf wrong in the first place?
What do I need to do to just see a list of my contacts, just exported off my iPhone (iCloud), on my computer?
I've tried to use iTunes, but I can see all my pictures... where's the list of my contacts?
How come iTunes doesn't open up with a cool UX like iCloud?
Then I could just click on Contacts, Import to Outlook (etc), done!
It would be great if managing contacts with iTunes and iCloud was intuitive, simple and really easy.
    Thanks for all your help!

Keep this VCF file that you created, just to be safe.
Download the iCloud control panel for windows and sign in with your Apple ID.
This will sync your iCloud contacts with Outlook via Internet. You don't have to sync them via iTunes. In fact you have to uncheck this option in iTunes under Info tab.

  • What's the best XML for JAVA?

    Hi There,
My big question is what should I use for develop a normal XML document, that can:
    - contain BASE64 strings
    - support UTF-8 add attributes, etc.
I then want to pick this document and:
    - do it's parsing (walk trough)
    - apply a xsl to this document.
I've made this in C using libxml2 for WIN32/HP-UX, and also in VB using msxml4, now I must make the same document in Java, I see a lot of alternatives but really don't know what to choose...
In these languages I pick a structure that we support (similar to a tree) and serialize it to XML, send it as a string and then rebuild the initial structure with flaws. Each client can have a xsl file to show the information in the way he wants to.
So, I ask your opinion what's the best for JAVA (a fast learning curve is preferable, but speed of processing is very, very important)?
Thanks in advance for all the replies,
    Lus Pinho

  • How to add a hand tool (grab the page and drag) function on Chrome and firefox pdf viewer?

To clarify, hand tool is a function for user click on the pdf and dragging around , that is used to replace the scroll bar navigating .
The problem is, by default the Chrome and firefox pdf viewer do not have that function and I would like allow the user to drag the page.
A workaround is to use a jquery plugin (grab to pan https://github.com/Rob--W/grab-to-pan.js in my case) with an embed object (pdf viewer). When I maximum the size of the pdf and user drag the embed object.
The problem I have encounter is
    1) When using chrome/ firefox, the pdf content do not fit to the page but auto resize by default even I have set the adobe pdf open parameter , using iframe.
    2) The jquery seems conflict with the firefox pdf viewer, it works smoothly on Chrome but not firefox.
Here is the source code, you may download the plugin from the link mention above and have a look. Don't forget to put a '1.pdf' along with the source file. Thanks

  • What is the best resolution for adding and viewing pictures/images in ibooks?

I'm trying to add pictures/images and I was wondering what the best resolution is for viewing?  Any help would be great.

iBook Author seems to scale the images automagically during the book generation, so targeting iPad's native resolution should be fine.
Havign said that, I'm currently creating art based on the assumption the next generation of the device will have double resolution screen, so a photograph should be scaled to 2048x1536 pixels if you want it to be full screen at 1:1 pixel mapping.
If you're creating widgets, the art (probably) won't be scaled, and you'll need to use the pixel dimensions you want the art to appear on screen.

  • A checked checkbox is rendered as unchecked in default pdf viewer of firefox. It is checked when the pdf is opened with adobe.

I am using DynamicPDF to render a PDF. There are multiple check boxes which are checked. When the PDF is opened in Firefox, none of the check boxes are checked. However, when I save the PDF and open with Adobe, check boxes are checked. There might be a problem with the Firefox built in PDF viewer as the built in PDF viewer for other browsers work fine.

Current Firefox versions have enabled a built-in PDF Viewer that doesn't have all features that other PDF readers like the Adobe Reader have or may not function properly otherwise.
You can change the action for Portable Document Format (PDF) from Preview in Firefox to use another application like the Adobe Reader or set to Always Ask in "Firefox > Options/Preferences > Applications".
You can set the pdfjs.disabled pref to true on the <b>about:config</b> page to disable the build-in PDF viewer.
You can check the value of the plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types pref on the about:config page and remove the application/pdf part if present or reset the pref to the default via the right-click context menu if you want to display PDF documents in Firefox with another application (i.e. not the built-in PDF Viewer).
