THE BEST VIDEO CAMERA...??? ..^_^..

..
..HEY GUYS..
I'm thinking to buy a video camera for using with IMOVE-08 very soon..but I was wondering which one could be the best .. there are so many brands out there that i can not chose one..!!
Does anybody know which one could be the best VIDEO CAMERA..? I don't care about money and I'm looking for something good that I don't want to change for a long time..!!
If you have any ideas please let me know...
se-ya,,andrea..

I did a lot of research on the issue, which you can read about here:
http://www.kbeat.com/Site/Blog/Entries/2007/9/10New_camcorder%2C_HD_atlast!.html
After much consideration, I went with the Canon HV20, and I've been very happy with the results. I use it on a recent MacBook Pro, and have not had a single issue. You can read a great comparison article featuring the Panasonic Steve Jobs mentioned, the Canon, the JVC, and a Sony:
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content/The-Great-HD-Shoot-Out---Canon-HV20-Sony-HD R-HC7-Panasonic-HDC-SD1-JVC-GZ-HD7.htm
Good luck. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the cameras they reviewed, but the Canon has the best image, which was my number one priority.

  • Best video camera to use with iMove '11 for iMac

I'm looking for the best video camera with no difficulties for iMovie. Just to be able to plug in the camera with out having to load additional software or any other difficulties.
Or if any one else knows what type of file format is specifically needed for macs? MPG4 or AVI?
    Thank you!

I'm interested to buy a Nikon photocamera Coolpix S8100.
This camera is NOT on Apple's list of supported cameras to use with iMovie 11. Nor is the camera Canon SD3500 as mentioned by you, I thought ...
Do you think I could use the Coolpix S8100 camera as well with iMovie 11 ?
    Or could I meet a problem ?
In my opinion, the camera will work with iMovie '11, HOWEVER....
I have a Canon SX30IS bridge camera [that is, not a camcorder], and the HD videos work absolutely fine on iMovie with one - for me - important problem.
As my camera is also not supported, when any number of short video files are loaded in together, iMovie will not understand the sequence they were taken in, and MAY load them in a fairly random order into a project.
This is not a problem where one or two files are concerned, but where there are more, it can be a major problem if you want them used in sequence.
You either have to load them into the project one by one, manually, or be able to identify clearly from the thumbnails which is which, or the order will be all wrong. It IS possible to relate what you see as a thumbnail back to the original file, but only one file at a time, so you can't use the thumbnails to work out the order, if the images shown don't do that for you.
I have used videos from 5 unsupported digital cameras, and even an 8mm cine conversion file quite successfully, so I have no doubt that the Nikon will also work.

  • What is THE best video file format to import into Premiere Pro CS6?

What is THE best video file format to import into Premiere Pro CS6? I am tired of the guess work of "this might work if you do this." Just tell me which is, flat out, the easiest for Premiere to read?? I generally animate in Adobe Flash, and some times with a Live camera. Premiere seems to pick and choose which video file it wants. I import from the File drop down box in the upper left hand corner, then move the video file to timeline. Under the "scrubber" there is a thin red, (or when rendered) a green line. The videos I put in the timeline show a thin yellow line which means Premiere is confused. So, in basic terms, which video format is MOST commonly accepted with the least amount of trouble/hassle?

Premiere has a function now where you can import a clip and drag onto a timeline and it will prompt you with a message about changing the timeline settings to match your clip, (or if there is no timeline it will automatically create one that matches your clip.) This is in CC of course so you might consider upgrading. They have fixed a lot of compatibility issues from CS6 to now. If you don't want to get all of CC for 60/month then you can at least shell out 20/month on premiere. It's worth it. They've made it where you don't have to worry about 99% of all video formats. They just work.

  • What is the best video format to stream my movies?

So I was just curious as or what the best video format would be to stream movies from my personal cloud to my device. The reason I ask is because I have the 32GB mode and alas I do not want to copy movies over only to delete them later. Plus I would have access to them on all my devices (PC, windows, and android....soon a Mac mini) currently I have them in the .avi format because it just would not make sense to have four different formats uploaded to ,my four terabyte personal cloud especially when I own hundreds of DVDs. Now I noticed that there is a bit of pixelation on my iPad Air when streaming, my upload speed is like 5mbps and download is close to 25mbps. I have several other devices communicating with my router, but they are inactive..so to say. The connection strength is strong (on my desk next to my bed. Speaking of streaming my movies how do I clear the actual cache (may not be called that on Apple). Thought it was on settings, but alas I was unable to find it.

As long as your video is transferred via Firewire into a DV AVI type 2 file (I don't know your camera) your edit footable is the best you can get
If what you want to create is a DVD, you already have Encore bundled with PrPro (I have the CS3 version of both)
Simply export as DV AVI and give that file to Encore... then tell Encore to use the AUTOMATIC setting when creating the DVD
Otherwise, work through all of the steps here http://ppro.wikia.com/wiki/Troubleshooting
If your problem isn't fixed, report back with the DETAILS asked for in the questions at the end of that link

  • What is the best film camera around?

hiya i want to make films has anyone got any opinions on what is the best film camera around? thanx xx

Generally you need a tape camera if you want to edit your video.
The Canon HV20 which has just been updated is now available for £545 (post free) from Amazon.
It is a high quality Hi-Def camera which has received excellent reviews :-

I do notice that someone on the forum is having problems capturing with an HV20 but this may be an isolated occurrance.

  • What is the best video converter for DVD to iMovie? Either free or to purchase.

What is the best video converter for DVD to iMovie? Either free or to purchase.  And one that is 'fool-proof' and very easy to use.  Many thanks, anyone who can advise.

You want to 'reverse engineer' the compressed mpeg2 DVD file back to something iMovie can use?
You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
(unless you are running Lion in which case see below))
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.
And from the TOU of these forums:
    Keep within the Law
No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware. This includes conversations about ‘ripping’ DVDs or working around FairPlay software used on the iTunes Store.
    If you are running Lion:
    From the MPEG Streamclip homepage
The installer of the MPEG-2 Playback Component may refuse to install the component in Lion. Apple states the component is unnecessary in Lion, however MPEG Streamclip still needs it.
To install the component in Lion, please download MPEG Streamclip 1.9.3b7 beta above; inside the disk image you will find the Utility MPEG2 Component Lion: use it to install the MPEG-2 Playback Component in Lion. The original installer's disk image (QuickTimeMPEG2.dmg) is required.
The current versions of MPEG Streamclip cannot take advantage of the built-in MPEG-2 functionality of Lion. For MPEG-2 files you still need to install the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component, which is not preinstalled in Lion. You don't have to install QuickTime 7.

What is the best wireless camera that will work with my mac?

Any reliable brand that claims Mac compatibility.
Different wireless cams (wi-fi versus BlueTooth) may work better for different purposes, so ask your retailer for one that best does what you want to do with it.  For some examples of all kinds and types, click the link at the end of this sentence to see results of this search for your posted question.

Try resetting your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. Then if still doing, restore your phone in itunes from your backup.

  • What is the best kids camera for iMovie '08? Flip or, say, IXUS/Elph?

My kids love creating video clips and the old camera they use is beginning to fall apart and I'm trying to figure out what to replace it with.
USER BRIEF: The goal is simplicity and ease of use, so iMovie '08 fits the bill. Video and audio quality are of secondary importance. They do want to be able to crop their clips and string them together into a movie.
I was on the verge of buying a Pure Digital Flip camera but I've discovered a rash of threads in various forums describing problems importing Flip video files into iMovie 8. I don't really want to get my kids involved in a video conversion workflow if it can be avoided.
The other option is to buy a regular compact digital camera with a movie option. We have a Canon IXUS 70 (a SD1000 Digital Elph in the USA) that produced acceptable clips that iPhoto imports automatically. iMovie '08 trawls the iPhoto library for clips than can be used as fodder for iMovie projects. Pretty easy, I wonder if there are any drawbacks.
So, my questions are: is the Flip an attractive option in an iMovie '08 environment? Or should I give my kids a regular compact (and if so, are any of the major brands using codecs that are more or less iMovie-friendly than others)?

    Here are some known issues:
My MAC Updater downloaded the new QT 7.4.5 on 5 Apr 2008. I have been making movies in iMovie, and then posting them to YouTube. In the beginning I uploaded the movies as MOV files but soon discovered AVI files (larger file and longer time to upload) had more clarity when viewed on YouTube. Once the new QT 7.4.5 downloaded all my AVI files had picture, but no sound! I downloaded the Perian component as posted in QT discussions. The sound returned to the AVI files. However, when I Exported an AVI movie from iMovie the picture quality was worse than the MOV movie. There is something wrong with the new QT 7.4.5 when working with AVI, my AVI movies look terrible. These AVI files were all downloaded from my Ultra Flip Video camera with Flip’s codec 3vix. Flip is aware of this problem and acknowledged it last Friday. Flip says Apple is aware of the problem.
My MAC PowerPc G4 has performed well in the past two months when working with the Flip Video camera. So, at Flip Video’s suggestion I upgraded the operating system to OS 10.5 from OS 10.4.11. Flip Video says their camera works with OS 10.5. Once OS 10.5 was uploaded I soon discovered that iMovie 08 would not operate on my PowerPc G4, 1.86 MHz. The speed requirement for iMovie 08 is 1.9 GHz.
At this point of “spinning my wheels for nearly a month” with this Flip Video camera, I decided to purchase a new iMac. On May 2, 2008, I walked out of the Apple Store in Walnut Creek with the new iMac 20-inch: 2.66GHz. Now the Flip video camera should work and all my video problems solved. However, this was not to be.
When I attempted to Import Flip Video AVI and MOV files into iMovie 08 the files were “grayed out” and would not Import. None of my previous Flip Video files would Import. I tried making new Flip Video movies, they also would not Import into iMovie 08.
At another Apple Store, the tech suggested I download the previous version of iMovie HD. I did this and with hours of working through the different Export options I was able to create movies to post again on youTube. However, the picture quality of the newer iMovies has never approached the quality of my last post before QT 7.4.5 downloaded. Remember my problems started with QT 7.4.5. Well, my new iMac came with QT 7.4.1, I have not Uploaded QT 7.4.5 and won’t until Flip Video fixes this problem.
Examples of my Flip Video movies can be viewed on youTube at: sffoggydays. The last video with excellent picture quality was posted 6 Apr 2008 titled “A Day at the San Francisco Zoo, Chapter Nine, L-Taravel Ride to BART.” This video was made in iMovie and Exported before QT 7.4.5 downloaded. All the youTube Flip Videos made after 6 Apr 2008 have poor picture quality.
It is time for Flip Video camera to stop “passing the buck” to Apple. When manufactures of operating system such as Apple and Microsoft create newer and upgraded systems, it is the responsibility of the manufactures of applications to redo the programs for operating on the new systems. Here is where Flip Video is not accepting this responsibility to Mac users of their camera. The Flip Video application/codex/drivers need to be updated in order to fix the following problems:
    - No sound on AVI files in QT 7.4.5
    - No Import of AVI and MOV files in iMovie 08
    - Poor picture quality for youTube in Export of iMovie HD
I like my Flip Video camera, want to continue making movies for youTube, and recommending the camera to others. The Flip Video camera people need to fix these problems for Mac users.
I am still making Flip Video of my grandkids.

  • What's the best video format to export my project to creat a DVD?

I've made a project in iMovie, using my DV Camcorder and I would like to export it so I can make a DVD. What would be the best video quality when using "export to quicktime"?

Try "Quicktime to DV Stream". A DV stream matches what you need for making a DVD very well in both resolution and pixel aspect ratio, so it will pass through iDVD with minimal further processing. It still needs to be re-encoded to MPEG-2, but at least the resolution and aspect ratio remain.
