The best way to apply Themal Grease

In your opinions, what is the best way to apply thermal grease when using an aftermarket heat sink for CPU cooling?
Is it best to apply the grease to the heat sink (taking a chance of it smearing across the CPU) or apply directly to the CPU in the correct area and then placing the heat sink on the CPU?
I ask because I have never tried an aftermarket heat sink before and don't want to screw things up

well the reason ask is because the last time i tried it on the heat sink and stuck the heat sink on the cpu, the grease gooped over to the other parts of the cpu it's not supposed to be on. so i removed the heat sink, cleaned everything up and then applied to the cpu on the die, smoother it out and stuck the heat sink on and clamped it down. when i removed the heat sink, it look all nice and pretty and not sloppy.
didn't know if you guys had any other ideas. of course, i didn't know how much actually needed to be applied. so i'm thinking i might have put too much on in the first place

Is this a correct approch of applying NLS patches ?

Best way is use of LDB's. Which will check all authorization and all data releated to current date ie latest date. Best use LDB if not atleast use FM EMPLOYEE_CHECK_AUTHORIZATION. This is just a sample example fm i am giving. Similar lot of FM's are available.

What is the Best way to apply granular password policy

I am trying to apply Fine Grain Password Policy in small groups to my users, I have set the password expiry to 10 days
for testing. But the moment I apply the policy, users start getting password change notifications immediately, Outlook or
Lync start asking for a new password.

In addition to Mihai's answer, also consider checking/changing the 'Interactive logon: Prompt user to change password before expiration' which by default is 14 days. I think there is a default notice period of 5 days but for Windows 7 or 2008 R2
servers that don't have a Group policy overriding the local policy (not domain joined). I am not sure how that applies to 2012. So if you haven't changed that to 5 days, it might be the cause of the problem.
On a PSO object I don't think you can set the password change notification.
The settings can be found in Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Local Policies\Security Options\Interactive logon: Prompt user to change password before expiration.

What is the best way to apply a template to the rebranded partner site?

My partner site got severely jacked up when I was brand new to BC.
Since then I've overwritten it in Muse while attempting to "try' it as well.
Apparently does some "cleaning" meaning the template files I once had access to in the templates folder got deleted. bleh.
Is there a quick way to apply another template I own to that site such as publishing a trial site and re-pointing dns or anything that direct and smart; or is the only way to do it a manual, one by one by one of files, modules, content holders and so on?

The CAD agent that are working remotely are seeing performance issues. Hence, would it really be better to apply QOS to the CAD workers for better performance or would it just be better to give the remote workers a VMachine and have all the CAD application run locally?

So I need to add Fred, who can access and sync Bob's contacts, Sally's contacts, and Common contacts, as well as Fred's contacts. Can I do it with OS X server?
You mention you keep your and your partner's contacts administered locally. What keeps you from administering them through OS X server as well?
I am guessing this can all somehow be accomplished with multiple contact accounts, but I can't find any information on the web explicitly describing this.

Whats the best way to apply office updates during OSD task sequence with Software Update Agent disabled?

I am trying to update office via the SCCM 2012 R2 OSD task sequence. I know offline updating only updates the core components in the WIM and I'm trying to figure out how to add office updates as well. I am aware of using powershell to try and kick off
a WU scan as seen here:

How does it work?
The task sequence steps run a script called ZTIWindowsUpdate.wsf. The script uses the
Windows Update Agent API to manage the downloading and installation of updates. All audit information is written to the

    The Best way would be:
Apply the patch on the secondry one first and then on the primary box.
You dont really need to make any box a stand alone one. You can apply the patch in the ditributed enviorment.
One more thing:
If you apply the patch on the primary box and then perform replication.It WILLNOT replicate the patch on the secondry box.
Here is the procedure:

       Issue the following "acs patch" command in the EXEC mode to install the ACS patch:
       "acs patch install patch-name.tar.gpg repository repository-name"
       ACS displays the following confirmation message:

Best way to apply Schemas to Fragments

I'm been researching the best way to apply schemas to my fragments.   Either by applying all fragment and field schema elements to the form
or to put the fragment schema elements within the fragment.   I feel keeping a schema within the fragment seems like the way to go, but
unsure.   I you only reference a fragments schema in a form and a fragment within that form changes, do you have to go back a modify every form schema that is using that fragment? If I keep the schema in the fragment then I would only need to modify the fragment schema..correct?

I agree with the small caveat that it sort of depends on the business/technical requirements surrounding your use of fragments. Fragments can be sort of flaky and difficult to work with so to peg a specific all-encompassing "best practice" would, in my opinion, be impossible. Using relative bindings in fragments is great (in fact it's what I'm doing on my current LC project), but it ends up becoming a bit limiting. It can make the fragment pretty tightly coupled to the "main" XDP form and whatever schema/XML is bound to it. Probably 9 times out of 10, that's not an issue, but the reasons for electing to use fragments can make it something you really need to think about.
My advice would be to avoid fragments unless you specifically need that functionality for a specific reason. It's easy to use fragments because they are cool and seem clean, but then can end up causing more headache than it's worth. On the other hand, using fragments as a method of compartmentalizing script objects is really really helpful. It helps you keep all your JavaScript inside script objects (instead of inside object events) and allows for reuse of scripts in different areas of the form(s). This saves development time, refactoring time, and disk space. I highly recommend looking into that scenario whenever possible.

I have a 2012 Bank America Cash Rewards Visa Platinum Card that i've successfully removed the $39 annual fee and had it changed to Better Balance Rewards as of last year because i was only earning $50 cash back on my Cash Rewards and figured i could be earning $125 a year having the Better Balance Rewards nstead so i made the switch. Better Balance Rewards usually comes in a Mastercard but they kept it Visa when they changed it from Cash Rewards to BBR. The only thing i did not like was because it was the first credit card it sits at a low $500. When i hand it to the cashier at starbucks (because of their BankAmeriDeals 10% Cash Back using your BankAmerica Card) I am embarrass because it's not ''Signature Visa'' makes me feel and look like i may have ''bad'' credit or just carrying a secured card. When i tried asking if i can be upgrded to a signature visa they said my card does not qualify and need to hard pull my credit report.for a credit limit increas to $5,000. The problem is would i be better off applying for Bank America Signature Visa (preqalified on their site) then i get $100 cash back when i spend $500 in 90 days. Then could they roll over my cash rewards credit line to Better Balance Rewards and close 2015 Cash Rewards ? or would i be better using my ''hard inquiry'' for either US bank cash+ or Chase Sapphire Preferred ? because i know US Bank may be inquiry sensitive and i was planning applying either those 2 in the fall but did not want my inquir from Bank Ameroca get in the way. BTW, my Freedom is signature Visa. Capital One EO would not convert my Capital One Quicksilver Mastercard to Signature visa either. Said i need apply for a Signature Visa and then close the Mastercard which would be stupid since its also one of the longest accounts opened with Bank America. Capital One was $500 but they now allow you combine your cards which was how i got it from $500 to $5,000 without a hard inquiry though unlike Bank America trying to do. So my question is what's the best way getting your cards upgraded to a Signature Visa when its costing you a hard inquiry ? apply it or increase it ? or would you rather use your hard inquiry somewhre else and just not use your non signature visa useless $500 limit card ? What i want ? i want my Bank America $500 limit up with my rest of my portfolio cards and upgraded to signature visa WITHOUT a hard inquiry but they won't do it without a hard inquiry which i wanted to save for adding chase sapphire signature visa and or US bank Cash+ signature visa to my portfolio in the fall so it seems if i want to do this its going to cost me 2 if not 3 hard inquires instead of just 1, i currently have 24 inquiries but 0 in the last 6 months. AMEX started me off at $1,000 a few years ago and it's slowly grown since then. No need to be ashamed about not having a VISA Signature. Most cashiers aren't looking that closely and most people outside of this forum don't obsess over credit cards. If you're trying to protect your AAoA, then by all means call BOA and ask to talk with a credit analyst (or call the backdoor directy). Request a CLI to your desired amount ($5000 or more). In my experience BOA has been great with CLIs. Good luck! If you're not concerned about your AAoA, then consider which card fits your needs and spending habits: CSP or Cash+. From what I understand, the Cash+ is a difficult card to obtain (often involving manual review). I love my CSP (it's more a travel card), but Chase is stingy with CLIs. I've read here that Chase tends to give bigger limits on second cards. So, since you already have a Freedom Signature, perhaps you'll get a decent CL if you apply for the CSP. Good luck!

What is the best way to create a SSRS 2005 Line Chart Report for a 12 month period?

I'm looking for advice on how to create a SQL Server 2005 query and line chart report for SSRS 2005.
I need to display the peak number of patients assigned to a medical practice each month for a 12 month period based on the end-user selecting a
single month and year.
I've previously created a report that displays all patients assigned to the practice for any single month but I’m looking for advice on how to
how to produce a resultset that shows the peak number of patients each month for a 12 month period. I thought about creating a query that returns the peak count for each month (based on my previously created report which displays all patients assigned to the
practice for any single month) and then use a UNION statement to join all 12 months but I'm sure that isn't the most efficient way to do this. The other challenge with this approach (twelve resultsets combined via a UNION) is that the end-user needs to be
able to select any month and year for the parameter and the report needs to display the 12 month period based on the month selected (the month selected would be the last month of the 12 month period).
For the report I’ve previously created that displays all patients assigned to the practice for any single month, the WHERE statement filters the
resultset on two fields:
Start Date - The date the patient was assigned to the practice. This field is never null or blank.
End Date - The date the patient left the practice. This field can be null or blank as active patients assigned to the practice do not have an End Date. When the patient
leaves the practice, the date the patient left is populated in this field.
Using these two fields I can return all patients assigned to the practice during Nov 2012 by looking for patients that meet the following criteria:
start date prior to 11/30/2012 (using the last day of the month selected ensures patients added mid-month would be included)
AND
end date is null or blank (indicates the patient is active) OR the end date is between 11/1/2012 -11/30/2012 (returns patients that leave during the month
selected)
Regarding the query I need to create for the report that displays the peak count each month for 12 months, I'm looking for advice on
how to count patients for each month the patient is assigned to the practice if the patient has been assigned for several months (which applies to most patients). Examples are:
John Doe has a start date of 6/01/2012 and an End Date of 10/07/2012
Sally Doe has a start date of 8/4/2012 and no End Date (the patient is still active)
Jimmy Doe has a  start of 7/3/2012 and an End Date of 9/2/2012
Given these examples how would I include John Doe in the peak monthly count each month for May - October, Sally Doe in the peak monthly count for
August - December and Jimmy Doe in the peak monthly count for July – Sept if the end-user running the report selected December 2012 as the parameter?
Given the example above and the fact I'm creating a line chart I think the best way to create this report would be a resultset that looks like
this:

The resultset that displays the peak count for each month would be used to create the line chart (month would be the X axis and the count would

Does this sound like the best approach?
If so, any advice on how to create the resultset that lists each patient and each month they were assigned to the practice would be greatly appreciated.
I do not have permissions to create SPs or Functions within the database but I can create temp tables.
I know how to create the peak monthly count query (derived from the query that lists each patient and month assigned) as well as the line chart.
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the replies. I reviewed them shortly after they were submitted but I'm also working on other projects at the same time (hence the delayed reply).
Building a time table and doing a cross join to my original resultset gave me the desired resultset of the months assigned between dates. What I can't figure out now is how to filter months I don't want.
Doing a cross join between my original resultset that had two dates:
08/27/2010
10/24/2011
and a calendar table that has 24 rows (each month for a two year period)
my new resultset looks like this:
I need to filter the rows in yellow as the months assigned for stage 3 that started on 8/27/2010 should stop when the patient was assigned to stage 4 on 10/24/2011.
You'll notice that Jan - Sept 2011 isn't listed for Stage 4 assigned on 10/24/2011 as I included a filter in the WHERE clause that states
the Months Assigned value must be greater than or equal to the date assigned value.
Any advice would be appreciated.

We are struggling on how to best implement default values that are stored in a DB table. What we have is a database table with (CODE_TYPE, TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME, DEFAULT_VALUE) as columns. This way the application administrator can administer default values himself/herself. Now we need to find the best way to set these table supplied default values in new rows. Globally we are aware of two ways:
- override create() method on VO
- probably create a View Object on top of the database table with default values (we are capable of transposing the table and return exactly one row with a column for each default value) and use JHeadstarts item property 'Default Value'.
We prefer the latter, since this is more declarative, however we struggle with the EL expression needed to indicate the default value.
If we have a VO named "DefaultValues" with a SELECT on a view on top of our database table (transposed) returning exactly one row, let us say:
SELECT orglanguage, orgtype, orgstatus [...]
FROM v_default_values
--> returning exactly one row
and we want an EL expression on an item that needs the value from orglanguage. What will the EL expression be? Something like:
#{data.DefaultValuesPageDef.currentrow.orglanguage.inputValue}? We tried several things but they do not work. A static default value works, but every EL expression so far does not. We know that using "data" can be dangerous, but thought JHeadstart takes care of preparing the other Page Definitions, so it might be possible when you use JHeadstart.
Or is overriding the create() method the preferred way? Or do we have to look at a Managed Bean for our default values that we refer to from EL (let us say MyAppDefaultValuesBean) and in that case: how do you associate a Managed Bean with a VO?
Any help would be appreciated. Apart from these default values, things are going rather well in this first J2EE/JHS project for us!

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately whatever we try, we cannot get it to work. We started looking at the second option (since we do need default values also in table lay-out new rows). We created a DefaultValues ViewObject, added it to the Application Module, added an EL expressiona to the Default Display Value property (replacing your ending ")" with a "}" offcourse ;-)), ran the JAG so that a page definition was generated for DefaultValues and we managed to get it prepared when loading for example the Organisation's jspx page. However no default value appears in a new row (not in Form, not in Table layout).
I then created a quick application on top of the HR schema, added a DefaultValues ViewObject using one calculated attribute (set Salary fixed to 1000), added the EL expression to the Salary Default Display Value property in the Employees Group, made sure the DefaultValuesPageDef is prepared by adding it to the parameter section and I see it getting prepared. I also see a managed Bean is created in the Employees-bean.xml.
In the Embedded OC4J log we see:

We do not understand what is wrong and why the default values do not get created in the new rows (and it is taking us far too much time). Any chance the EL expression is still wrong? It is a shame that any syntax errors in EL expressions are not visible in some logfile. It looks like when EL expressions are wrong, they are ignored instead of raising an error...

I have developped a CMS System that renders JPEGs if it does not have the images available within the desired width already. Within my development setup (Dell Latitude D800 with ubuntu dapper drake) everything works fine and fast, as expected. Then I uploaded the application to my V20Z Server with 4gb RAM and the systems performance goes to its knees. I have hooked in a Java Profiler to see where the problem is, and it showed me that it is hanging wthin

This is a bad thing to do with JPEGs. You're better off just reducing the 'q' if you want a smaller/faster/lower resolution image. That way you're throwing away resolution intelligently. Using scaling you're throwing resolution away unintelligently. I was on a project where 40,000 images were scaled when they should have been low-q'd. Don't do it.
