The "Big Freeze"

My Zen 4GB has completely frozen up with a blank display - and will not reset by using a pointed object in the reset hole. And no combination of button pushes & holds that I've tried so far will bring it to life. When connected to the computer USB port (or a USB charger adapter) the device screen is blank except for a regular flashing at a rate of about 2 flashes per second.
The player has always frozen up quite often, but in the past this has always reset successfully by using a pointed object in the reset hole.
This "big freeze" occurred in the first place whilst it was connected to a computer USB port.
I imagine it would help if the battery could be removed, but the device seems to be totally sealed.
The recovery tools that I've seen would seem to require at least some sign of life from the player when it's connected to the computer
It's a shame because before this fault this was an extremely enjoyable user-friendly mp3 Player, and I was delighted with it..!
Anyhow - I imagine that the player is corrupted beyond recovery, but if anyone out there has got any ideas for how to handle this fault, that would be excellent...

seems like Zen is having "freeze" problems always with its different products. how long has this player been with you anyway.

(Why isn't there a straight forward way to report a bug? Why am I directed to the Adobe Community when I want to report a bug? Does the develop team leave resolving their bugs to the community? So, I finally got here, I found a workaround, a true detour, just before writing a letter. This is what I want to let you know and, obviously, I would like to see this resolved:
I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard (you know, the last great OS, Apple's XP) and I upgraded Lightroom to version 4.4. Now nearly every time I want to straighten a photograph's horizon with the crop tool Lightroom freezes. And I don't have time for that.

That's what I would do. There is a fair chance that installing a new OS will shake up your system in such a way that that, combined with an all new Lr version, will get you around the problem you are having. At a minimum, make sure your system/drivers are up to date, and disconnect all extraneous hardware, and disable all extraneous software services, at least until you get it sorted. Also consider running a system/hardware test and move preference file aside, try with a new catalog... - stuff like that, in case there is some problem with those things which you could get around..
But if you don't want to take the time, then you don't want to take the time...

4 hours download, validation started then the big freeze

after 4 hours downloading a game, sitting with the computer to keep her awake, the validation finally began, i waited an hour, clicked the screen, it goes white with message on top that says "not responding".
i was not happy, i can tell you that.
any suggestions will be appreciated... especially if you can tell me that the info is somewhere on my computer, so i don't have to go through the 4 hour wait again!

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.
3. Repeat the process if necessary.

IPhone 5 screen is flickering randomly, the phone freezes and the screen turns black.

I bought an iPhone 5 in New York last December. Now I live in Bogotá, Colombia and I can't find an authorized service center because they said that only if I bought it from a local carrier they attend the warranty.
My iPhone 5 screen is flickering randomly, the phone freezes and the screen turns black… The only way to make it work is to reboot with Home and Lock buttons pressed at the same time. But in the process most of the times it flickers again, and again, and again. I couldn't find a reason to identify what could be causing the issue. Also sometimes when it freezes, some group applications get ungrouped, causing a big mess.
I already tried to restore the phone, remove the SIM, delete all applications with no luck.
Any sugestion? Thanks!

Was this phone ever jalbroken?
If restoring as new, without using a backup, didn't help, there is certainly a hardware problem that only replacement can fix. Your warranty is void unless you return to the USA. Short of that, finding a local independent iPhone repair center would be your only option

How do I fix Firefox when the page freezes ?

Please help my Firefox has started to freeze when I go to the next page of anything. It hangs for about what seems like 30 seconds, which can get quite annoying when your in a hurry. Is there a straightforward and uncomplicated way of fixing this, it didn't happen before the last two updates so I'm wondering if it's something to do with that. Thank you.

I am using the big date calendar template and when I submit it to apple for printing I lose the name of two months. These names are not text boxes. I see the names when I send it in but something happens during the transmission to apple. It was suggested

I am using the big date calendar template in iPhoto. I am on Lion 10.7.2, macbook air. The names of the months are on each calendar page but something happens when I send the data to Apple. The names are part of the template. They are not text boxes. I lose two names on the calendar after it is sent to Apple. Apple suggested I make a pdf file of my calendar before sending it in and check to make sure every name shows. I did this with a calendar I just sent in. The calendar was correct. All names of the months were showing. After sending the data two month names disappeard because when it arrived by mail, it was incorrect. Apple looked at my calendar via a pdf file and it was incorrect. This is second time this has happened. I called Apple and they had me delete several folders in the Library folder, some preferences and do a complete reinstall of iPhoto. I have not yet remade the defective calendar. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Control-click on the background of the view all pages window and select "Preview Calendar" from the contextual menu.
You can also save the pdf as a file to compare to the printed calendar. If the two names are visible in the pdf file then the printed copy should show them. Contact Apple for a refund. Apple Print Products - Apple Store (U.S.)

i think i might have a solution... i have windows vista and after i installed to latest itunes update everytime i tried to open it it would freeze. I tried everything, including uninstalling itunes and all of its components and reinstalled it numerous times. So i went to the itunes folder in my folders, not on itunes, and i deleted my itunes library and playlists. After that it worked just fine, all of my music was deleted but luckily i had my files saved elsewhere.
I hope this helped! I know its frustrating and APPLE/ITUNES NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM!!!!

When I go to a website, it half-way downloads and then the screen freezes for 10-20 seconds while ads appear; this never happened till recently.

Until recently, I loved Firefox. Lately, when I go to any website and try to download a page, the screen freezes for between 10-20 seconds while ads load. Why the screen freezes is both frustrating and annoying. I have the latest version, nothing on my computer is different, and as I said, it didn't used to do this. Any ideas what's going on?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Thank you for the answer, I suppose the main thrust of my enquiry is to find out if 65 MBits is my ATV theoretical limit of reception. If that is the case then I am happy as a Pig in Mud
I may have allowed myself to become a victim by listening to Fanbois posting elsewhere who always seem to go one better than everyone else. Now I have learnt two things Today; 65Mbit/s = Good enough and only read the apple forums.

The Big question...

I am currently running windows XP, using a 20” Phillips flat screen as my monitor. I have no issues what so ever with this monitor using XP. I am running from the VGA out on my laptop (company PC, IBM) straight into my monitor. TV DVI is type DVI-I.
I want a Mac Mini!!! So… The big question is.. Will I be able to use this monitor? As stated above, I have no issues with XP. The Mini comes with a mini DVI to VGA adapter. Shouldn’t I be able to plug right into this adapter and go using the cable I already have?

Indeed, given the presence of a VGA connector on the monitor and the DVI/VGA supplied with the mini, you should be able to plug the two things together and have them work with no problem. Unfortunately, without knowing the exact model of screen and there being someone posting here that has tried the same combination, it's impossible to tell you with absolute certainty that it will work - very high probability, but not certainty.
How readily the combination works depends to a great extent on whether the display outputs a standard signal which identifies it and the settings it requires, such that the mini can detect it. If it does, it'll work and offer you a range of suitable and compatible settings. If it doesn't, you may need to use a third-party utility such as SwitchResX - which isn't easy but many have used with success.
If the display also has DVI input, that's another option too of course.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Restart your mobile device.

I have a new Macbook Pro. When watching Youtube videos, it works perfectly until I attempt to watch the video in full screen. When in full screen, the video freezes immediately and the audio continues. When minimized it works fine as before. Help?

I have a brand new Macbook model A1502. I am taking online college classes that incorporate youtube tutorial videos. I can watch the videos if I don't maximize the screen to full screen. First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.
