The Blue (Lego looking) Box where a pic or video should be

Am I missing software or something? Why do some pics/videos/animation on websites only show this box instead of the actual file?
Thx
Jim

If it requires flash, then it is because there is no flash player for iphone.
It could also be Settings>Safari>Lug-ins should be on for this.

  • What is the blue lego looking icon with a "?"

What is the blue, lego looking icon that has a "?" on it? It seems like every other website that I navigate to has it and I can't view anything. It's really getting frustrating. I tried looking for information online but couldn't find anything. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

It means the web site is trying to display something using Flash (most likely) or some other graphic material that the iPhone can't display.

  • The colors are no longer on my calendar, I have blank boxes where delete and other actions should be, and I can no longer check the little boxes to the left of emails but the star feature does work. How can I fix this?

The colors denoting my different calendars have disappeared.
To the right of "MAIL" I have blank boxes.
When I click on the boxes to the left of in box emails instead of a check mark, there is a straight line on the far left side of the box and the mark disappears as soon as you click on another entry.

You can control this from Mail Preferences on your computer.  Open Mail, go to Preferences, and select Accounts.
Go to your MobileMe account and select Mailbox Behaviors.  Next to Trash, select Store Deleted Messages on the Server.

  • Can I permanently keep  the iCal alarm dialog box where I want it on screen

I've switched to iCal completely after living with Entourage for years. What I liked about the MS Office Notifications is that they open in the same position where I last left it. However, the iCal alarm always opens in the center of the screen. What's really maddening is that if I drag the alarm to the position I want it (and leave it open even), the next alarm pops it back to the center of the screen. Arghh!
Positioning it followed by quitting and relaunching iCal doesn't work. Is there any way to keep it where I want it?

This happens sometimes... it is just a bug.
This message is probably coming from your HP update manager.
An explanation:  The Update manager is supposed to (of course) give you the option to download and install any available HP updates.  The lack of the buttons is a buggy bit that shows up in bad instructions - sometimes the result of old code, and sometimes the result of -- the buggy bits.
Try updating your HP Support Assistant
First, get rid of any older version:
Control Panel > icon view > Programs and Features >
Scroll down, find, and Uninstall HP Support Assistant.
Restart your computer after uninstalling the existing version of Support Assistant.
Install the Latest Version of the Support Assistant
    HP Support Assistant
    ================================================================================
You can control WHEN update messages shows up,
AND whether it shows up at all.
After the Support Assistant is updated:
Call up (Open) HP Support Assistant > (Launch HP Support Assistant) >
    Tune-up > View Settings > View Notification Settings >
For example:  Set / CHECK "Taskbar Only"  >> to turn OFF popups...
So...Select as desired... > Apply > Close the Support Assistant
    ================================================================================
Another method to qauickly control HP Update:
Start > search / type "HP Update" > Click on HP Update to Open >
Settings > Adjust schedule as desired
    ================================================================================
    I hope this helps.

  • Power Mac goes to the blue screen and no where

I had a Power Mac G4 Dual 1, processor. Upgraded to 10.5 and after I cleaned up some files and was ready to reboot system and when I brought the system backup it went to blue screen. Now I can not do anything else on the system. I want to restart to a clean install if I can.

Start with http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1545 If that doesn't solve the problem, restore your previous Tiger bootable backup/clone.

  • Blue-lego instead of video on a web page

I cannot seem to get the video to open up on a web page in Safari. I have downloaded several player plug-ins, and I have enabled the plug-ins as well, but , but I'm still getting the blue-lego with the question mark. Here is the web page I'm trying to access:
    http://www.elshaddaiministries.us/video/eclipsevideo.html
It pulls right up on my husband's Windows-based laptop. Please advise.

But I'm not sure how this will carry through for other web pages.
not very well - Flip4Mac's is good but not great.
it doesn't play all of the Windows Media Player type files.
    use your husband's Windows-based laptop.
Where did you find the separate link for the video that you gave me?
i removed 'eclipsevideo.html' from the url and entered the Parent Directory...

  • Blue Question Mark Box Issue

I have a 2011 iMac with version 10.6.8. I haven't made the switch yet to Mountain Lion.  I just upgraded internet service from AT&T DSL 3.0 to AT&T U-verse High Speed Internet 6.0.  After the "upgrade" I now get the blue question mark box on websites where images should be.   Also, I'm unable to stream videos on sites like Hulu.  I have troubleshooted the issue by ensuring the "Display images when the page opens" box is checked and reseting Safari.  I do not have any 3rd party extensions.
Now here's where I get really confused...I also have a Dell laptop (work computer) connected to the same network.  It doesn't have this problem at all.  Works fine.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Hello, I'd reseach all the problem & missing features in 10.8 before considering it.
For the Safari problem, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.
    Also, turn off IPv6:
    System Preferences » Network » AirPort » TCP/IP tab » Configure IPv6
    Or whatever Interface you use.

  • Why the ? in a box in e-mails with pictures??

Lately my e-mails have been showing an X in a box where a picture or graphic should have appeared. This may have started with the latest OS update. Some times the picture appears. Some times I can see it in preview. Sometimes I can save it to the desktop and view it there. Sometimes I can't see it at all. If there is text like a caption below the (supposed to be there) picture, it will be there with the X in a box above. WAH???

Select Preferences from the Mail menu and go to the Viewing pane.
There is a checkbox which if cleared will keep Mail from automatically loading images in a message when they are fetched over the network (as opposed to being embedded in the Mail message itself). In addition to making Mail loading go faster for such messages, some people prefer to not have network accesses indicate when they have read the message.
For such a message (when that check box is cleared in Preferences) Mail will display a notice at the top of the message that there are unloaded images in the message -- along with a button in the upper right of the message to cause Mail to go out over the network and load those images. Until you load the images, they are marked with the "x" placeholder.
If you check that box in Preferences, Mail will automatically load those images when you view the message.

  • When I go to download something, the site tells me to install it from the Firefox Download Manager. Where is it? It seems like everytime I download something, it disappears without a trace forever.

I have a Windows based computer. I've tried to download a couple of things, and the Firefox download screen pops up and says it was downloaded, but I can never find where it went to. How do I get to where these things downloaded to so I can install them?

Start Firefox, click on the Tools menu item, and then click on Downloads.
This should up a Downloads window which shows you all the downloads you've done - you can, however clear the list or remove individual entries.
If you click on an entry in the Downloads list with your right mouse button, a menu will be displayed. Click on "Open containing folder."
This will open Windows Explorer and show the folder where the file was stored when you downloaded.
If you simply want to execute the download, right click and select Open or just double click on the entry.
In the future, when you download something and Firefox displays the folder window, look at where it is pointing. That is where the file will go.

  • Recently moved and installed ATT DLS - I use their wireless router and connectted my airport express - Now I'm getting the Blue ? on some images

Recently moved and installed ATT DLS - I use their wireless router and connectted my airport express - Now I'm getting the Blue ? on some images - and at times - videos don't load.  I've increased / deleted Cache.  Suggestions? Misconfig?  Could it be possible my configuration from MacBook to router isn't correct?
    Thanks!

    JG,
    Thanks for the info.
Couple of questions. I found an apple support document on this topic that opened with this line:
"AirPort Express and all AirPort Extreme base stations can use WDS. Earlier AirPort base stations can't."
If the TC is an airport extreme base station, why can't this work to extend the network? I think I misunderstand. Here is the full article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2044?viewlocale=en_US
If I buy a new airport extreme, set it to wireless-n only as my main router, am I correct that my existing time capsule could be used as a bridge if plugged in upstairs?
Final question (and that should do it), could I take this old airport express, plug it in upstairs using the ethernet connection, and just create a separate wireless network to use with a different name?
I'd like to keep one network if possible but just kicking around short term solutions.
    Thanks again.

  • IPhoto: No pictures only broken-line/square boxes where pictures should be.  Scanning with the bar slide the pics appear for one or two seconds then are gone.

Grandson Son sabataged my IPhotos!  Can't get pics to appear.  Only broken-line/square boxes where the pictures should be.  Scrolling with side bar brings up pics for 1 or 2 seconds then they are gone again.  HELP!  Please....

Restore from your back up is the most obvious way forward.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

    HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Appearance tab. Tick the box next to: Display images when the page opens.
If that box is already ticked, from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset. Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems loading images, go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
Make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.
If you still have problems, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.

  • Reset PMU and Powerbook won't boot past the blue screen with "Mac OSX" box

    Hi-
Problem: I tried to reset my PMU, and now when my computer restarts it won't go past the blue screen with the "Mac OSX" logo in the box (and progress bar, that never fills up). I then also tried to reset PRAM, but it still won't boot properly.
    Backstory--
I've had my 12-inch Powerbook G4 for about 3.5 years already, so things are starting to get a bit out of whack. I replaced my battery about 3 months ago, which has been great, but recently my power-cord has been wonky (having to unplug it and replug it in to make sure it actually charges the computer, the light flickers on and off, etc). Today it actually started producing SPARKS at the place where the thin white wire meets the white plastic power brick, so I decided it was time to get a new one. Brought it home, plugged it in, and since it seemed like the battery indication icon on the menu bar was all out of sync with the powercord colored-light, I tried restarting it a few times, but still the same. Then, I decided to reset the PMU, which may have been a huge mistake. And now it won't boot past the blue screen... Any advice? I'm going to try restarting it in "safe" mode, but I'd be so grateful for any recommendations. Hope I haven't done something irreversibly stupid with the PMU reset.
    Thanks,
    Samantha

    Hello all,
Thanks for all of your great suggestions and info-- here are a few responses.
    1) The disk I just borrowed from my friend appears to be the full retail version-- it looks just like the links that Ali B sent, and is in a large box saying "Mac OSX Tiger, version 10.4"... will this be the proper disk to do an Erase and Install? The only other disks I have came with my Powerbook when it was originally purchased, when it came Panther (I think, 10.3?). Would I use both sets of these disks to do erase and install? Or only the Tiger OSX disks?
    2) I get the sense that Disk Warrior or Tech Tool might be necessary, but does it make sense to TRY to do erase-install before buying them? Also, are there any downloadable (for pay) versions of this, or would I need to track down the actual physical disks in Hong Kong or wait for them to be shipped?
    3) I haven't yet tried the S.M.A.R.T. test, should I do that first? What is the procedure? Are there any results or ways to know if the drive is too far gone (so that I might instead replace the internal hard-drive) instead of pay 100 USD first to do the disk repair?
    4) Cornelius said: "An alternative would be to completely reformat and erase the entire HDD, then re-install and restore your data from backup. If your backup is in the form of a bootable clone of the entire HDD, you can just clone it back." I use Super-Duper to back-up and the most recent one copied the whole thing-- what would be the later procedure of "cloning it back"?
    5) As I'm able to use my computer pretty normally right now, but does it still mean that it might crash/die at any moment? Is there any way to tell?
    Thanks so much!

my Iphone 5(purchased in Jan 2013) has suddenly developed a multicolored hue in the center of the **** screen. it looks pathetic and totally whacked out. Its rainy and humid where I stay this time of the year. Apple guys are you reading this? does the management go through this website.? Hey Apple guys, can you replace my phone for me.Its so slippery and slides out very easily from my hands. I have owned smartphones before but yours is a real slimy slider. so while I was shooting pics in varanasi in march it fell out of my palm (it was drizzling) and the rear screen (the section next to the camera) kinda cracked real ugly and obviously due to this the camera is behaving kinda crazy too. can you guys help me out here.?

If your phone is defective (aside from the accidental damage) Apple will fix or replace the phone. You saud you purchased the phone in January so it is still under warranty.
If you have an Apple Store in your area, make a Genius Bar appointment.
