  • On the bottom right of my MacBook Pro there is a solid line about 3/4" long (looks like it could be a download status gauge). Any idea what that is?

Unfortunately you screen shot is not showing.  There is a bug in the forum software that sometime will prohibit images from appearing.  This may be one of those occasions.
Browsers such as Safari and Firefox do have small windows that will show downloads which will permit you to monitor the progress.  Without actually seeing what you are referring to, I cannot give you a definitive answer.
    Ciao.

  • Big apple logo at the front of my white macbook.

My big apple logo at the front of my white macbook is popping "out" but technically inward . I don't know what do. But I don't want it to pop fully out so it falls into my lid and effects the screen.

Take your Mac to an Apple Store.

  • The bottom part of my Macbook is melting.

I know Apple has a Macbook Bottom Case Replacement Program, But I live in the Philippines and I saw they only ship the case to a few countries...
    Can sombody help me???
And one more thing. My macbook is on ver. 10.6.8, It won't update properly.
1st you're gonna think it's all good, then once it's half way to finishing the update it's gonna stop saying it has an error. This happened multiple times already

    Hello, A.j. De Castro.
Apple has determined that under certain circumstances the rubber surface on some MacBooks may separate from the bottom case of the system. MacBooks shipped between October 2009 and April 2011 may experience this issue.
Apple will replace the bottom case of any affected MacBook, free of charge, that exhibits the issue.  As you mentioned that you are in the Philippines, the best avenue for service would be to visit one of our Apple Retail Stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers.  You will be able to locate a provider in the link below.

  • Has anyone else had the screws fall out of the bottom of 2012 2013 Macbook Pro Retina?

Apple tried to repair my Macbook Pro Retina when I first got it. They took the back off, replaced the motherboard (which was not the problem), and returned it to me the next day (via FedEx). When I got the machine back, half of the screws on the back shell were falling out... and one was in crooked. Apple told me to take my machine to the authorized computer repair place to have the screws tightened. The screws were tightened and now, they are falling out again! I've read about needed some sort of locktight product to put the screws back in. I don't understand why an authorized repair place would not do this the first time! Can you tell me what the process should be on replacing the screws in the bottom (shell) of the Macbook Pro Retina? I've heard that the shell should be replaced when the new screws are put in. Is this true? (I have AppleCare and will take my machine in next week for repair.... again!) Thanks!

The first repair (when they thought logic board was bad) was a mail-in to Apple. They are the ones that did not re-apply the screws properly and they were falling out when I took computer out of the cardboard shipping box. Called Apple. They said take it to Computer Guys (only auth Apple repair here). Now, a new Mac store in the mall has opened. I think I will take it there this time since it was not done properly at the Computer Guys last time (however, Apple didn't put them back in properly in the FIRST place! Gee. I have Applecare and will stay with Apple repair only. Thanks! I appreciate everyone's input. It has been really helpful! The only reason I have not taken it to an Apple Store is because it is 3 hours away. I will see what this new Mac store has to offer. Oh... and, Apple Support did absolutely nothing for me! Did not even apologize for not fixing it properly the first time... and costing me time and money (as my computer is part of my job). Thanks again! Did Apple do this on purpose to keep us from repairing our own machines? I've seen so many complaints online and I imagine there will be more to come as the machines age and people try to make repairs themselves. Crazy.

  • How long does it take for the Genius Bar to replace the bottom case of my Macbook?

I bought this Macbook on Christmas Eve '09 and by last year summer, the bottom casing was peeling off and I now know that Apple is replacing macbook bottom cases free of charges regardless of warranty status. What I would like to know is, if I take it to the Genius Bar, would I have to wait for more than a day? Or would it take as much as one hour?

I would say that it depends on the store.  I would give your local Apple store a call and ask them.  If they have the parts in store I believe you'll be in an out as long as you make an appointment.

  • Video tutorial for removing entire display assembly with the apple logo on white Macbook?

Hi, my Macbook has a bad display screen and I've been using it hooked to an external monitor for a while. I would like to swap out the display from another parts Macbook. I searched Google and all the videos I saw shows the display assembly already removed and the LCD panel within the assembly being replaced. I need to change the whole assembly though as there is a crack in the plastic near the apple logo. Anyone know of any video tutorials to do this like on Youtube or somewhere else? Thanks

iFixit have good step by step guides with clear photographs, if you follow this link you can select your model of MacBook:

  • The bottom case for my Macbook has come off, is the replacement kit free to order?

I don't live near an apple store so ideally I would like to order the macbook replacement bottom case kit. How much would this cost to order or is it free?

    There is this:

No guarantee it is exactly what you encountered, but it is something.

  • I don't like when I scroll over a link on a webpage and the hyperlink shows up on the bottom right in white box... it is extremely annoying. I want to know how to turn it off if possible, otherwise I'm going to have to use another browser. Thank you.

I don't recall this feature on any other version of firefox. For some reason, I can't stop focusing on the fact that every time I scroll over something on a webpage, an annoying white box pops up in the corner of the website displaying the hyperlink, or showing the fact that the link or whatever is loading... it's unnecessary and to me it appears as clutter, especially when I'm browsing a website that has a colored backdrop because then the annoying box pops out even more. I want to turn it off somehow or get rid of firefox.

To toggle the add-on bar on/off use Ctrl+/ or hide the add-ons bar through the View > Toolbars menus
Th add-ons bar replaces the status bar, so if you miss the status-bar working as before see item #10 in
You can make Firefox 4.0.1 and '''Firefox 5.0''' look like Firefox 3.6.17, see numbered items 1-10 in the following topic [http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6)]

  • The bottom corner of my macbook screen doesn't display black

    Hi,
I bought my MBPr 13 inch in September last year. Lately I have noticed  when watching films and youtube videos, etc, the black area of the display has white blurs in it.
It doesn't affect the performance of the computer obviously but it sends my OCD into rage mode. I'm pretty sure that it was caused when I accidentally knocked it off the sofa.
Can this be fixed? What has actually happened to the screen? Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    James

The solution is probably a new display.  Bring the MBP to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.
    Ciao.

  • Scratches on the bottom of my MacBook Pro

My own carelessness has unfortunately resulted in scratches on the bottom edges of my MacBook Pro.
There is also a rather unsightly crack that has appeared from the top right hand corner where the charger connects to the middle section on the bottom of the laptop.
I am just wondering if it possible to get these fixed and if so, how and where?
    Much appreciated.

I have a few very faint scratches on my Unibody bottom from when it was sitting uneven on a table (wood edge then glass center). Since I don't actually ever see my bottom, only when I'm cleaning it, I don't really care about that much. The top lid and the actual keyboard area is where I'm concerned and I try really hard to keep that scratch-free. So far so good.
One thing to watch out for. If you use a case with a zipper, be careful that you don't zip it quickly and scratch the aluminum. For cases that fit snugly, this can be an issue.
