Click on the 'systems preferences' icon that is located on your dock ( it looks like the three little gears) and then click on 'keyboard'. Select the 'Use all F1, F2, Ect,' checkbox.

Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but when I'm viewing my desktop on the home computer from work (as in I've connected by finding my computer in the finder and hit the "Share Screen" button - is there any way to turn off the display at home? It seems a bit of a waste of power to have the screen on when I'm not actually there - I just need to be able to see all my programs etc on the remote screen in order to use them. My home computer is a 2011 iMac running latest Mountain Lion, work is a 2010 MacBook Pro.

I've set up another user on my home Mac and left that one logged in. Now when I connect from work it asks me if I want to share the screen or log on virtually as my user. I think choosing the second option doesn't power up the screen.

Does anyone know either of a Simple way to Turn off the isight camera on a Macbook pro (3.1 model with Snow leopard) or a simple program or Widget to do this ??
I have already Googled this but cannot find much - except disable certain files, or a Applescript by Techslaves.org called isight disabler , which seems great except I have to run applescript each time run this script, put in password, then select !
SO is there a Basic app or even a Way of making the isight disabler work like a simple app - or a way to do with Mac's settings ??
Any help is Appriciated

Barring some unusual circumstance, there should be no need to disable your built-in iSight because YOU decide when to use your iSight.
Some apps such as iChat allow you to enable and disable the webcam from menu commands.
Other apps such as Photo Booth only use the camera when you click the button.
However, if you REALLY want to disable, scripts like this one can easily disable and enable iSight.

However, be aware that it simultaneously disables ALL USB webcams when active.
Although I do not recommend it, you can manually disable your built-in iSight by removing the "QuickTimeUSBVDCDIgitizer.component" file from your computer's HardDriveName > System > Library > QuickTime folder and restarting your Mac. Your built-in iSight should no longer work with any app.
P.S. Manually moving, renaming, or deleting files outside your Username/Documents folder
is generally a BAD idea unless you KNOW how it will effect OS X.

If I toggle the button in the top right of the HUD it 'unlocks' and I can drag it to where I prefer -- at the left margin; (for over a decade) my dock has resided at the right margin so all my slider manipulation over countless editing sessions in Aperture has been ingrained to work at the left margin -- but, the vast majority of the time, the HUD overlaps the image I am editing in this 'unlocked' mode.
Every occasionally I enter Full Screen View and it positions on the left margin *without* superimposition...(!) My great joy is modulated into aggravation, however, should my tracking cursor drift all the way 'out of bounds' -- to call in the hidden pane of adjacent images sequenced in the library... This dramatically shrinks the Full Screen display and re-locks the HUD; if I toggle the switch to re-xpand the image it re-positions at the right margin!!!! I SOOoooooo wish I knew how to control the default 'locked' margin of the HUD in Full Screen View...

Try plugging it it to see if the screen comes on. If not then you're screen is damaged.

If you are having issues with the functions keys, then check the settings in System Preferences > Keyboard and look to see if Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys is unchecked so you can use it properly.

I found an error on my new iphone5 with the buttons at the bottom of App Store

I found my new iphone5 is having a problem with the App Store, normally the correct order of the buttons at the bottom inside App Store should be (from left to right) "Featured > Top Charts > Genius > Search > Updates", but somehow I don't know why it becomes "Featured > Search > Updates > Top Charts > Genius".

Try to use Siri (which does not require it to be unlocked) to find the owner. Try "Call Home" and "Call Mom", that sort of thing. if it rings through to someone, I'm sure they'll be happy to contact the owner and help you return it. If that doesn't work, then the police are probably the answer.
By the way, I always put a contact for "Mom" or "Home" in my phone for this very reason.
