The cable to my integrated webcam/mic broke

I posted a problem about my integrated webcam/mic not working a few months ago. I was looking for the manul so i could take it apart and look at the cable to make sure it was pluged in.  I didn't have time to do this until today. When i did I found that one of the wires (the black one) that connect the webcam/mic were broken, I'm guessing this got broken when my fan was relpaced. I am wondering what this wire/connection is called and if it would be cheaper to buy a new one and install it or if I should just buy an external mic and webcam? The pictures of the wire and  the link to my original post is below:    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Hardware-problem-with-integrated-mic-and-webcam/td-p/5094095

Hi  ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community!
I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! Thank you so much for the screen shots with the explanation of what is happening. Very helpful. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx Notebook and issues with the cable to the integrated webcam/mic broken. Here is a link to your service Manual page  86 shows you  how to replace the device. Webcam/microphone part number is 665365-001. Here is a YouTube Video on how to get to the fan. I hope this helps you. Thanks.

  • Integrated Webcam/Mic not detected after re-instal/recovery of windows 7

HP Pavilion dv7, Product number: A6X02UA#ABA
So... After recovering windows and installing the minimum recovery image (No extra junk or files)  I have a squeaky clean computer with the bare minimum on it.  Everything is working great, Until I installed Skype and found I have no integrated webcam, or mic anymore.   In the Device Manager, There is no imaging devices.  It also says ALL drivers installed are up to date.
I have read everyone’s answer that "if its not in the device manager, its a hardware problem i.e. the short cable that comes unplugged behind the screen"   But it is impossible... or at least 99.9% improbable.  As I used Skype successfully prior to the reinstall of windows 7, and did not move the computer, close/open the screen, unplug, or even sneeze on this thing since last using the camera and mic. The only thing that has changed was the windows recovery.  So far everything else works great. Even the Biometrics device. Why not the cam or mic?

    Hello Nostopin,
I'll posted the link as an example of how to find a hardware ID in general.
However if you cannot find the webcam in the device manager which sounds strange to me if it was working correctly before, then there is no way to install drivers for it because windows does not recognise the hardware.
Believe me that I would like to give you a working driver but I cannot give you one simply because I have no hardware ID.
As far as I know there are three options now.
    1 The hardware is broken
2 You didn't see the hardware ID (Which I doubt after your story.)
    3 this video http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02452221&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en#N70
In my opinon there are no other options with the information I currently have.

Just like the title asks, where can I find the integrated webcam for my HP G62t-350 Notebook PC? I have what looks like a rectangle in the top center of the screen/lid, in the bevel, but I'm not sure of how to get it to work, or if it's even able to work! I've seen pics of where there is a gray circle or dot in the middle of that rectangle, but I'm not able to see if I have one or not. Would someone please help me out here?

Click on start button under all programs in search box type in web cam. List will show above if it is installed you will see it. Other wise you need to purchased a web cam. This is how I found excess to my web cam on HP dv7 6135dx.

  • My old mac screen broke down and I would like to transfer my photos and documents to my new mac. Is it possible to transfer it with the cable without fixing my screen?

My old mac screen broke down and I would like to transfer my photos and documents to my new mac. Is it possible to transfer it with the cable without fixing my old mac screen? Please help!

Sure! If the two Macs have Thunderbolt ports, attach a Thunderbolt cable between them. If they have FireWire, or if one has FireWire and one Thunderbolt, connect a FireWire cable (with a TB adaptor if necessary). Reboot the old Mac holding down the T key. Make sure it's connected to power. You'll now see its system drive appear on the desktop of the other Mac and you can use Migration Assistant to automatically transfer files, or drag them over manually.

  • Can the Thunderbolt Octopus cable be replaced?  I broke the cable.

I knocked my laptop off the table and it landed on the thunderbolt connector.  The cable will need to be replaced and I am hoping it is possible.

If the repair is too expensive, and you aren't using the Thunderbolt port on the back of the display, you could buy a Thunderbolt cable and connect the computer to the display's rear Thunderbolt port.

  • Hi! The cable for my ipod broke(6mos after purchase from the states). Is the warranty still applicable in the apple stores here in the Philippines?

So my cousin bought me an ipod 5th gen and sent it here in the Philippines. 6 months later, the cable became unusable. It doesn't charge my ipod anymore. I'm wondering, since it wasn't bought at the apple store here in the Philippines, is the warranty still applicable? Can I still exchang my cable for a new one through the apple stores here in the country? Help!

It is hardly Apple's fault that Epson can't/won't update their driver, but at least Epson suggest that you use the Gutenprint driver, which in any case is far better that what Epson offer.
    You can get it here:

You can download the latest version from here:

  • Integrated Webcam not found anywhere on Laptop

Hi, I have been having an issue with my integrated camera. I've tried to install, reinstall, and even update my Cyberlink Youcam software, and each time it gives me the same Error "Warning, no webcam detected on this computer, try plugging in a webcam to your computer, or if you are using an integrated camera please make sure it is turned on."
Now, I know that there have been other questions like this, but here is where my problems take a different turn. Having reinstalled the Cyberlink Software as I saw suggested in the forums, I began to explore my device manager only to find that my integrated camera was not listed anywhere in it. I also do not have the HP Support Assistant, nor do I have the HP Recovery Manager as my OS, Windows 7, was installed on my computer as an Aftermarket Product.
The initial OS of my computer was Windows Vista 64-bit, however, As this computer was given to me I have no idea exactly what needs to be installed, updated, or fixed, as the auto detection tool from hpsupport.com said that I had no updates or anything else needed for my PC. I have an external camera, but would prefer to use my integrated camera as the external is rather cumbersome to have to bring with me, yes it's small, but it's one of the older models that you just sort of prop on the monitor screen with an abnormally long cord leading to the USB port.
Please, any help would be appreciated, and I am open to try nearly everything. I'm not adept enough with Hardware, however, to try and take the laptop apart, I fear I would break something, and before someone wishes to be cute and suggest I buy a new computer, I would if I have the money, so please....be serious when offering help, I appreciate the time that you take to help me in advance.

I did not ask for your state. I do not need that I just needed to know what markets you could access and you can use U.S. eBay and amazon.com. I will also need your model number to be sure but this is almost certainly the part you need at $5 on eBay:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-Pavilion-DV6000-Webcam-Camera-QCM030-DAQCMMB86B0-/301543415487?pt=LH_Defa...
This is an interesting youtube video:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6zdTUnWOo8k
The technician does not quite finish the task but this shows how to remove the plastic frame around the screen and what you will see when you open it.
    Here is the Manual:
    Manual
    See page 5-39
Just be careful as shown in the video while removing the screen frame. You can use a plastic spatula to separate the frame from the screen casing and just go slowly. You do not need to replace the cable or go any further. Just remove your webcam and plug the new one in place. No guaranties in electronics but for $5 there is about a 90% chance you will have the webcam back.
Remember before you order this give me the full model number of the laptop so I can check it against another manual. There is actually another series also called dv6000 which is a little newer and perhaps uses a different webcam module.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook Webcam/Mic not working

Hello! I have an HP Pavilion laptop.
    Product Number: E8B92UA#ABA
Recently I've been having an issue with my internal webcam and microphone. Sometimes they would work and sometimes they wouldn't. I've done all cookie cutter quick fixes, reinstalling drivers, refreshing pc, system restart, etc etc. Nothing works. I read that it could be a hardware issue and to move the screen back and forth to see if that affected the webcam/mic's ability to work. Sure enough, moving my screen would sometimes trigger them either on or off.
Now they won't turn on at all.
    At all.
I'm very frustrated at this point. My spouse and I are currently in yet another long-term long-distance relationship and it's pretty much imperative that these two things work. I'd rather not have to buy an external webcam/mic.
I have seen a lot of posts and tutorials regarding the Pavilion DV7 and how to plug the webcam back in beneath the screen. I have opened the screen on mine to see if there are any noticeable issues or things out of place, but mine looks completely different from what I've seen in those tutorials.
    Here is a picture:
    Sorry it's a bit blurry.
Anyway, does ANYONE know how I can fix this without spending money I don't have?
    Thanks!

    @tayhub ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forums.
Based on what you have shown on your post and as well what you have done it looks as if you may have an actual cable issue.  Even if you look at the unit itself and things look ok the cable or the connector at the motherboard may have an issue.  Here is a link to the notebooks maintenance manual.
    Maintenance and Service Guide
You may be able to source the problem at the motherboard side where the connector has come loose.  If not you would want to replace the cable for the webcam connection.  If all else fails HP phone support can set up a repair for this issue.

  • Satellite P300D-110 integrated webcam is not functioning properly.

    Hello everyone,
as the title says, the integrated webcam of my Toshiba Satellite P300D-110 is not functioning properly. Allow me to explain. Using the Camera Assistance Software I can take photo's and record music. If I try to record a video the preview screen turns up black and the end result tuns out black aswell, completely black.
Whenever I try to use my camera with applications such as MSN Live Messenger, Skype or at community websites using Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari the application in question crashes.
    *How did this happen?*
    You tell me. This is how it went;
    * Day 1: I've started up my laptop and looked at my fresh and clean install of windows vista home premium. I tried out my webcam using the webcam assistance software and it worked like a charm.
    * Day 2: Once again I boot up my laptop and try to start my webcam only to find out that it no longer functions.
    To give a quick summary of the thread;
    * Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can take pictures.
    * Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can record sound.
    * Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can _*NOT*_ record or preview a video.
    * I can not start my camera using any other application such as but not limited to; MSN Live Messenger, Skype, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safar.
    * I have downloaded and isntalled the latest drivers from the Toshiba website.
    * My laptop is about a week old.
I'm not sure what more I can do, all I want is for the webcam to work, if anyone can help me out please do so.
And if possible WITHOUT having to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium.
I haven't even used it and wouldn't want to make that a solution for all the problems that might occur in the future.
    Sincerely,
    a sad customer.

Using Camera Assistance Software provided by Toshiba I can NOT record or preview a video.
Can you please describe the steps how you try to do this? I must ask you this because it runs well on my notebook. When the recording is finished player opens and you can see recorded movie. It is avi format and at the top of this player you can see the path where the movie is saved.
Most strange thing for me is that you cannot use it with Skype. Ok for MSN is not the perfect but there is absolutely no problem with Skype. Check the settings and it must work somehow.

  • Mac Mini compatible display with webcam/mic built in?

Been on a good search around the internet and haven't found any new displays that are reviewed and confirmed to be compatible with mac mini or any other mac for that matter and feature a built in webcam/mic that will work for Facetime. I'm not looking to spend $999 for a 27" Thunderbolt Apple display. Size doesn't really matter. I found some on Dell that meet my needs but I'm unsure if they work. I was recommended by some on another forum for an older Dell Monitor that did work with Mac Mini and was reviewed multiple times to do so. It's used however you can't find that monitor new anymore. Any help or suggestions by anyone that has found a monitor to be compatible with a built in webcam/cam would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for your time!

  • LINUX : Webcam mic non-functional on Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1150

I've been trying to get the webcam mic on my Toshiba Satellite T215D-S1150 notebook/netbook to work in Linux Mint 9 Isadora KDE 64-bit to no avail. My model has a Realtek ALC269 audio chipset combined with an ATI southbridge ( ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) (rev 40) ) using the "snd_hda_intel" kernel module. I've attempted using basically every combination of settings in "alsamixer" that makes sense. In addition to that, I've tried adding the "options snd-hda-intel model=" parameter in "/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf" starting with "basic" and trying every combination of "Input Source." I've also tried the "auto", "lenovo", "toshiba" and "3stack" models, but nothing works -- In each instance I get nothing when I try "arecord -t wav -f cd filename" and/or try-to-capture-sound/access-the-mic in eg. VLC Media Player or Skype where in the case of VLC I've tried "Open Capture Device..." where I've tried every possible audio device node with "Audio device name" and in the case of Skype I've tried "Skype Test Call."
My ALSA system information for the default model and the model "basic" respectively can be accessed here :

Currently I'm at a loss as to what the problem is or what further action to take.
I'd be grateful for any assistance.
    Thanks,

Most of the webcams support what is called 'UVCVideo' which is a generic video device; the generic video driver in the Linux kernel is able to support the webcam. Some manufacturers may put legacy cameras which requires a few extra steps from the customer's side.
Regarding the mic not working; audio/sound support is handled by the Linux kernel and the ALSA subsystem, http://www.alsa-project.org/ New audio hardware come with small variations which require equally small adaptations in ALSA. The laptop manufacturers tend not to help with this small information and it is up to the customers to inform the ALSA project.
For both devices, try out the latest version of Linux (such as the Ubuntu 10.04 distribution) in case these have been resolved from the work of other customers.
For the webcam, run the command 'lsusb' in a terminal window in order to identify the exact identification details. From those details it is possible to decide what to do next.
For the mic issue, if it is not resolved in Ubuntu 10.04, there is a process to extract the full hardware details of the sound card and use those details to help solve the problem.
You would need to execute the command
    wget -O alsa-info.sh http://alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh && bash ./alsa-info.sh
and then post the resulting file to a forum to help you. This forum does not support attachments, so when you are prompted above to send the details to www.alsa-info.org, select Yes and post here the URL with those details.

  • Dell Integrated Webcam

I have a Dell 1720 with an integrated webcam. It has been working great until today. My computer can't detect the camera and I have already tried reinstalling the drivers. The blue indicator light is also not coming on like it used to. Anyone have a suggestion?

The problem the entire time for me wasn't the microdia-git module it was the fact that my user wasn't added to the video group. I also figured out that my webcam worked perfectly with the uvcvideo module and oddly enough not the microdia-git module. I apologize for the "n00bness" and appreciate the help.

  • X220 Integrated Webcam

    Hi all,
I have weird issue with my Lenovo x220 integrated webcam.
Previously my integrated webcam used to appear as a device under the Printers and Devices, and this also used to get presented through to a windows 7 VM which I run on the x220 tablet using VMware Workstation.
Somewhere down the line (I am not sure exactly when) after numerous system updates etc, the integrated webcam stop appearing under Printers and Devices...and no longer gets passed through to the VM.
The webcam itself works fine on the host and is visible under device manager and can be configured using Fn + F6.
Not sure what made it stop working with vmware workstation, but any insite will be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    KK

    Hi, Maryd1621
What exactly happens when you attempt to use the integrated camera? Which programs have you tried using the camera with? As for the driver, click here for the camera driver for Windows 7, Vista, and XP. If you are using Windows 8, there is not an updated driver on the website, but the default driver built in to the machine should work fine.
    Hope it helps,
    Adam
