The camera at the back of my iPod Touch 4G isn't working. Help?

Whenever I open the Camera app, it just stays at this screen. Also, when I use SnapChat, it stays at this screen. I've tried restoring it from my most recent backup and restoring as a new device, without any success. Before going to the Apple Store to get it fixed, I would like to see if I can do it myself, since my warranty is expired. Any ideas?

Next try;
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Camera on back of my iPod Touch 4 has stopped working, what's happened?

The camera on the back of the iPod Touch 4G (The one on the silver metallic side) has stopped working completely. The front facing one still works.
Please help. I have had many problems with the iOS software, and I am getting frustrated!
    Regards,
    Alex.

Have you tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod via iTunes.  First from backup and if problems persist restore to factory defaults/new iPod
    - If problem still occurs make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a hardware problem.  If so, they will give you a replacement under your warranty.

  • Backing up my ipod touch and its not working?

hi guys...just wondering if anybody would be able to help me out with the problem i'm having with my ipod touch? either 2nd or 3rd generation 8GB
yesterday-thursday, i conncted my ipod to the computer and to itunes and it proceeded to do a backup, this then took around 3 hours. itunes then wanted to update the software on my ipod to 4.2.1 so i let this do so. after the update had been carried out, itunes told me it needed to restore my ipod, i also let it do this as i had done a back up and would be able to put everything that was on my ipod touch back onto it once the restoration had been done. This took a few minutes and then itunes asked me which backup i wanted to restore my ipod from, i restored this from the most recent backup that i had made just a few hours before hand and waited another couple of hours for this to be carried out. when the process was finished i took my ipod out of the computer, only to realise that my ipod touch only had apps that i have previously deleted, it didn't have any of my new apps on it and no music had been added. this is a problem for me as i had bought an album, various songs and a couple of apps which all cost me a lot of money on the app and itunes store that is avaliable on my ipod touch, and it seems to have dissappeared as the backup has not picked and of these new things and now i'm wondering if i would be able to get any of this back? my ipod now has nothing but the orginal settings on it. i hope someone will have a solution to this as it has caused alot of upset.

    Kate,
Are these purchases not in your iTunes library?  Content such as music, movies, apps, etc. are not included in the backup of your iPod.  These all need to be transferred to your iTunes library seperately by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases with your iPod Touch still connected.
See this article about redownloading your missing purchases.

  • The Home Button on my iPod Touch 5 isn't working. How do I fix it?

Hi!  The Home Button on my iPod 5 isn't working.  I just got it like maybe two months ago.  I'm really mad about it to because it's brand new!  I'm not to the point where I'm going to totally rip my iPod apart and fix it.  And I know about the Assistive Touch or Acsessive Touch whatever it's called.  I'm using it right now but it's just not the same!  Please help!

I would take it to an apple retail store and have them look at it. It should definitely be under warranty

    Not Charge
    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • After having to do a restore my apps wouldn't install back to my iPod touch. They all worked before and now they wouldn't. WHY?

I did a restore to my iPod touch, after doing this when I did the restore the apps would not sync to my iPod. They all worked before the restore. Now it says I have to have iOS5 and I can't get that for my iPod touch. Why did they work before and how can I fix this problem?

Many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • IPod touch wi-fi not working, help?

My iPod touch's wi-fi is not working after updating with iOS 6, and I'm not sure what to do. I click on my wi-fi name and it puts the blue check mark next to it but then when the sign in page pops up, the actual bar for me to enter the password isn't there. It's literally just a white page. • My ipod touch home button barely works.help!

i have had my ipod touch(64gb,4gen) for awhile now and i have noticed the home button is working very slowly. instead of instantly leaving an app i have to hold the button down for about 30-60 seconds. this is very irritating espically when i want to get to a different app. is there anything i can do or will i have to replace the entire ipod?

You can't really "fix" a hardware button. Apple will only replace the iPod, free if you are in warranty, $199 otherwise.

  • I keep getting an error 05 code on my t31 and turning the camera off and back on does not work.

I keep getting an error code 05 when I try to use certain modes on my Rebel T3i.  It seems as though my auto flash is stuck.  Is this a common complaint....and if so.....what is the answer to deal with this issue.  I have followed the instructions of turning the camera off and back on....to no avail.  HELP!!

    Hi Hydra171,
The Error 5 error code indicates a malfunction in the popup flash mechanism.
If this is not cleared by turning the camera off, then on, your camera will require service to correct this issue.
You may set up the repair for your camera here.

I am unable to back up my ipod touch, I try and do it manually and it sits on "Backing Up.........", it has been sitting on this all day.  I am on the free 5GB plan, availabe storage is 2.3GB, any suggestions

    Hello mig04,
While looking into the issue you are experiencing I came across some helpful information. In an article called iCloud: Troubleshooting creating backups found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3992 there are a number of steps to help get your issue resolved.
    General troubleshooting
    General information
iCloud Backup requires a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet.
Automatic backups occur when you've plugged in your iOS device, locked the screen, and have connected it to Wi-Fi.
You can manually start a backup by tapping Back Up Now in Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup (requires a Wi-Fi connection to the Internet).
iCloud Backup will provide helpful information and status messages related to backups at the bottom ofSettings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
If automatic backups don't work as expected, test to see what happens when you start a manual backup by tapping Back Up Now at the bottom of the Storage & Backup screen.
Backups and restores both take time, especially if you have a lot of data or a slow connection. Depending on the size of your data and the speed of your network, you may need to give more time than you expected to a backup or restore.
Make sure you have at least 50 MB of free space available on your iOS device before you back up. If you have no space available on your device, iCloud Backup can fail in some cases. You can verify how much free space you have available on your iOS device in Settings > General > About.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

I tried to restore, update and back up my ipod touch. once it said it was successful i clicked on the label of my ipod in itunes and it had written, "we're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time." now whenever i click on the label it just says that and on my ipod it tells me to plug into itunes when it already is. i didnt update restore or back it up with the latest version, so i downloaded the latest version, how do i start the process again so my ipod works!! help this is gay !!

Hmm, well... iTunes trys to activate your iPod using the Apple server to make sure you have bought it legit.
Two things come into my mind:
    1) Your iTunes can't access the internet.
    2) Apples activation servers are down.
That's just my cents, maybe anyone else has an idea.
