Hello,
Has anyone implemented the execution of a PowerShell script from SAP NetWeaver Identity Management (7.1, 7.2, 8.0?). Currently implementing 8.0, and our client is looking to kick off PowerShell scripts that would generate Active Directory accounts, Exchange accounts etc.

Hey Brendan,
We've done this out of a 7.2 implementation for exchange 2010 admin processes. We started with running powershell via a command line pass. It worked pretty well but it wasn't plain sailing. We used positional parameters to pass data to the scripts in question, we also had to come up with a return process that deals with any errors that might come of the powershell session. We had some issues with the shell sessions closing after the script completed.
We've since redesigned and now drop flat files to a constantly running powershell script that acts a bit like an IDM dispatcher (but obviously not integrated with IDM). It kicks off other powershell sessions and monitors their progress allowing it to process time outs, stack work up, etc.
We also found timing the processes to be an issue. If you create an AD account in IDM and then try to immediately move onto mailbox enable (for example) the account we created wasn't yet replicated to exchange so we had to build wait time into various parts of the process.

Need information about notification with SAP Netweaver Identity Management

Dear Experts,
I need some informations about send e-mail from SAP NIM. We want to send an e-mail after creation of sap users etc.
Please note that today we have a Domino/Lotus server.
I undertsood that we can send e-mail through the Identy Center (IC) component. But I did not find how to set up this solution? I did not find architecture informations?
Could you please provide me the different configuration steps?
Should I install another component? Or I just have to configure my SMTP Server?
Also, have you got the best practices for this step?

Hello,
For notification, first you need to create a repository of generic type and provide the lotus notus host details in the repository constant.
Eg:
EMAIL_SERVER abc.def.com
EMAIL_ORIGINATOR orignator mail ID
Then create a task with the "To Generic" type Pass.
Select the name of the function below in the Next data entry of the Destination tab of the pass.
and provide the attribute and value as below:
MSKEYVALUE %MSKEYVALUE%
EMAIL_RECIPIENT recipients mail ID
EMAIL_SUBJECT Hello %DISPLAYANEM%
LOCATION %LOCATION%
Eg of a Function to sent mail is shown below:

When does the sap defined Global JScript gets listed in the identity center console?

Maybe you want to know that you have to import the SAP Provisioning Framework into your Identity Center.
It's located in the installation directory, e.g. "C:\Program Files\SAP\IdM\Identity Center\Templates\Identity Center\SAP Provisioning framework"
After import you can find the Global JScripts where Zaheer told you

Information about SAP PPM needed

Dear Sir or Madam,
my name is Jennifer Fassbender and I am working in the “Project Management Office” (PMO) of the research and development department (R&D) of ERCO. Our group serves as a cut surface in between the R&D and to other departments all over the company. Our team is in charge of the PLP (product launch process) which is one the leading processes at ERCO.
Currently we are using the SAP PS in our ERP system to plan and control our product development projects which belong to the PLP. We are working on a lot of different projects simultaneously, which makes a multi-project management necessary. Therefore we are thinking about implementing SAP PPM.
In addition to my job I am studying industrial engineering in part time at the University of Applied Sciences in Hagen. Right now I am writing my bachelor’s thesis. To combine study and job, the content and aim of this thesis will be something like “Development of an operational scenario to use the tool SAP PPM regarding to the design of a multi-project management within the R&D department of the ERCO GmbH”.
And this is the reason I am writing to you. I need a lot of information about SAP PPM.
Could you please be so kind and help me with the following questions:
Can you describe the (biggest) difference between SAP PS and SAP PPM?
What might be the mayor reason to implement SAP PPM?
What are the main use cases for SAP PPM?
Are there difficulties to run SAP PS together with SAP PPM?

Answering to your questions-
Can you describe the (biggest) difference between SAP PS and SAP PPM?
In PPM, there are 2 areas, PPM-Portfolio Management and PPM Project Management. SAP PS can be compared with PPM-Project Management.
PPM-Proj, Mgmt. is mainly used for certain types of projects like Consulting, development & IT projects and User interface(UI) is very simple and user-friendly in PPM.
PS can be used in any type of projects but its full capabilities are used in capital Investment, overhead costs & customer projects. And moreover SAP PS has very good tight integration with all modules of SAP.
Overall both has it's own pros and cons. More details can be found the below links.

Major reason could be cross-project resource planning, portfolio management for better financial & capacity planning across projects etc.,

By standard, SAP PPM is having integration with SAP PS. Under Portfolio management we can use any of the project managements tools(PPM-Project management, SAP PS & MS Project) for detailing the project & resource planning.

Licensing terms varies for different customers, so it is better to contact your local SAP accounts manager for details.

For documentation, you have to find it out in se37 but it is not neccessary every Fm would have.
Now question is about its used (if you know th e function module)-> go in se37-> put function module -> select where used list -> select used in like - program, class, BSP application etc -> click on ok; it would give the list of its used and just go in that find how it is being used.
if you have to find the function module for table - > go in se11 -> select table name -> click on where used list -> select function module interface and click on ok, it would give the list of its used.
Otherwise go in g o o g l e dot c o m.

We in SAP Education have clasroom training IAU290 for DBM7.0 (however no fix scheduled dates are avaiable now, but only on customer request).
Additionally we have an online learning map (Online Knowledge Document - ODBM70).

The DBM 8.0 is in Ramp Up and special workshop is available for customers who are taking part in the Ramp Up process.

if you search for Gartner and user provisioning you will find their often quoted magic quadrant. Unfortunately the document is high-level with a focus on sales and information about SAP IdM is just outdated. You will find mainly German information on kuppingercole.com. Interesting are some scenarios like in a PoC where vendors have to cope some tasks - but I couldn't find a comparison which includes SAP IdM.
It just depends on the focus you have on Identity Management. I see advantages for SAP IdM in a flexible data management and good provisioning rules in a heterogenous environment. With the 7.1 release you will get pretty workflows in the SAP Portal. It's also recommended as a replacement of the CUA. Other vendors may have a focus on authentification or use a Virtual Directory instead of a database.

Before I upgrade our EP 7.0 from SPS16 to SPS18, I want to what's in SPS18.

You can find them in the following way:
1. Go to http://help.sap.com/
2. Choose SAP NetWeaver on top, then SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) on left.
3. In the list of products in the top part of the page, choose *SAP NetWeaver 7.0 *.
4. Choose What's New - Release Notes, and then choose on right the language (the example below is for English).
5. When the help page loads in a new window/tab, choose Release Notes by NetWeaver Systems and Standalone Engines on left.
This way you can access all release notes for NW 7.0.
