i have a problem is confuse,
the old oracle database, character set is UTF8, now i upgrade oracle DB from 8 to 10gr2, and my question:
if i set character set in the oracle DB 10gR2 is AL32UTF8 , after import dump file from old DB into DB 10GR2, so the data is lost or how effactive?

Both UTF8 and AL32UTF8 support the full character repertoire of Unicode. They only differ in the way of how supplementary characters (characters with Unicode codepoints above U+FFFF) are encoded. Assuming the original UTF8 data is valid, there should be no data loss when moving from UTF8 to AL32UTF8. If you upgrade the database to 10.2.0.4/10.2.0.5 first, you can use DMU to perform this character set migration and ensure any invalid data is detected and handled properly along the process.

In 2006 I bought the Adobe Creative Suite Production Studio Premium. The procedure when activating the installation I don't remember exactly. The computer on which the Suite was installed doesn't have an internet connection (I thought that was the simplest and safest thing to do; I have another computer for that purpose).
Now, if I want to upgrade to Creative Suite 5 on a newly bought i7 computer, what is the procedure? What do I need to prove to Adobe that I'm eligible for the upgrade? Please tell me the serial number on the box is enough... my old editing computer doesn't start at all so any info contained there is unobtainable at the moment.

The serial number of the old version - is that, by any chance, something you get from Adobe via internet or is it stuck on the box with the manuals and DVDs?I can't remember myself.
I kept the following (I don't even know if it is from Adobe) on my other (internet) computer. Someone recognizes this as specifically relating to Production Studio, when it comes to the serial number format for example? L is a letter and N is a number.

Enter them in the "Enter registration keys" window, which can be found at:
"Help menu" -> "Enter registration keys".

ORA-12547 when upgrade database (from 10.1.0.4 to 10.2.0.4) using dbua

Hi,
I got error when doing the database upgrade using dbua from 10.2.0.4 home.
It is in 15% progress of "Upgrading Oracle Server". It shows ORA-12547: TNS: lost contact.
You can either ignore or abort.
Any suggestion?

You can almost never ignore an error message ... unless you want a failure.
Did you read the upgrade instructions with respect to the database, listener, and oem dbconsole?

Issue in the webcat when upgrading OBIEE from 10.1.3.3.3 to 10.1.3.4.1

We have upgraded yesterday our OBIEE from version 10.1.3.3.3 to 10.1.3.4.1
We have just upgraded the server. I have not done any upgradation on my repositories or webcat. Please let me know if anything i have to do on the same.
When i open any segment or any saved request i am getting the following errors.
Error message ( Got when i do generate count in segments)

The issue is corrected when we install oracle client newly in the same box , because it was in prior was pointed to an older oracle client 32 bit version, But it needs 64 bit. so re-installed and it was made to work.

Why do I see � instead of é in the entirety of one website, but Firefox has no problem displaying the character when I type it myself?

The website is "http://www.serebii.net". Its a Pokémon database, and everywhere there should be a é, there is a � symbol instead.

Make sure that you have the Western (ISO-8859-1) encoding selected and not UTF-8.
View > Character Encoding > Western (ISO-8859-1)

Why is it that when I play a game with a moving character, the game freezes up for a second when I move the character? This happens everytime I move them.

This freezing problem that I am having only happens when there is a moving character in the game. For example, when I hit the left arrow to move them left, the game, in a way, skips the action, and then jumps ahead to after the character has moved. I am not sure whether that would be freezing up or just skipping. I have updated all of my plugins, and I do not know what else to try.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Font previews not appearing correctly in the character window after upgrading to Yosemite

Hi,
I’m having an issue with Illustrator CS5 since I upgraded to Yosemite. When I go to the character window to select fonts they are not displaying the names correctly or to put it a better way they’re not showing at all!
When I scroll up and down the list only the highlighted (where the cursor is positioned) font name and preview will show up as expected, oh and a few random font names. (please see attached image, although strangely the highlighted area is showing blank on this screen grab)
I had to update the Java in order to get this version of illustrator working on Yosemite, could there be a connection to that?

Open System Preferences and go to Accessibility. Next, select Display from the source list along the left, then check the box labelled Reduce transparency.

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

JWS not recognising the property when its value contains % character

We are seeing an issue with particular versions of Java Web Start like 1.5.0_15 and 1.6.0_06
The issue which we are facing is that Java Web Start is not recognizing the properties which contains % character.
For Example,.

<property name='version' value='1.1'</property>
<property name='sessionId' value='afg4l5n55%bn3'/>
<property name='cookie' value='abcdefghijk'/>
The properties with % character are not getting loaded
If I download the jnlp file, the property is there, if I choose show jnlp file in "javaws -viewer" it's not there.
This was working fine before we upgraded.
I would really appreciate if someone let me know whats happening.

..this invalid snippet. I suggest that you, and every other person with a JNLP problem, to validate the JNLP against a DTD or XSD. Invalid JNLP files are acted on by the plug-in, usually, to some extent.. The problem is that the behavior may change from JRE version to version.

I also try to install Java SE runtime but half way through the Software Update it says cant download software because of network problem but I'm connected to the internet and i can browse stuff just fine. And yes we are allowed to play games and stuff on these laptops but only at home not at school so don't tell me i need to focus on school and not games.

Since you updated the operating system, it is probably Minecraft is missing certain files that ware remove or are not longer comparable with the new version of the OSX. what I recommend, is to check is there is an update for Minecraft and install that. If there is not update available, probably the best thing will be reinstalling Minecraft. Hope this will help you.

However, is there a way of displaying PDF files first in the report by clicking the corresponding link
in the table?
I mean, is it possible to view PDF files first by clicking the link before deciding to download them?
As we see, this approach is used by most websites and after opening and viewing a PDF file, we can save them.

Precautions i need to take when changing the Character set

ORACLE VERSION: 10G Release 1 (10.1.0.3.0)
I am going to change my database's characterset from AL32UTF8 to WE8MSWIN1252 character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set. So i have few questions for you.
1. What is the difference between Character Set and National Character set? Do i have to set both?
2. What are precautions that i need to take while changing the characterset?
3. What are JOB_QUEUE_PROCESSES and AQ_TM_PROCESSES parameters in Plain English? Why do i have to set these parameters to 0 as mentioned in this post below.
Storing Chinese in Oracle Database

1) The database character set controls (and specifies) the character set of CHAR & VARCHAR2 columns. The national character set controls the character set of NCHAR & NVARCHAR2 columns.
2) Please make sure that you read the section of the Globalization manual that discusses character set migration. In particular, going from UTF-8 to Windows-1252 is going to require a bit more work since the latter is a subset (and not a strict binary subset) of the former.
