The chinese signs looks different in the original document compare to when imported in FM
I am using Framemaker 7.2 in Microsoft Office and I am trying to import chinese signs into a document but the signs looks different in the original compare to the FM document. The original document is a Word-file with format Arial Unicode MS and when I import that file it doesn't matter whether I choose to import by "Reformat Using Current Document's Formats" or by "Retain Sourse's Formatting", the signs looks different. Does anyone know how I should do it?
FrameMaker does support Chinese (and Japanese and Korean) for years, but I am not sure how capable the Word Import is.
Your message is unclear to me if the Chinese glyphs just look different (like: FrameMaker uses a different font) or are different (like: This seems to be Chinese but the signs are completely different).
The first can be handled by making sure the same font is selected.
In case of the latter: Make sure you have that Word document in RTF form, you will see far better results then. It also might make a difference if the document is saved to RTF on a Chinese or a Western system, you might want to try both if possible.

Pages vs PDF: Colors look different in the print out
I'm currently creating some templates for letters in pages and I encountered irregularities when printing directly from pages versus printing the PDF from Acrobat.
This is the workflow:
I created the Logo in Adobe Illustrator CS4 using CMYK color definition. After saving a JPEG or EPS I inserted the logos in my Pages document. Then I exported the document as PDF with maximum quality.
What happens now is, that the printed PDF looks closer to the original Illustrator logo (JPEG and EPS). When printed directly in Pages, the color shifts to a much brighter and very different Blue.
What can I do to get the same results when printing from the two programms?Claudia

Create DNG Profile - Why does it look different in the DNG Editor vs LR/ACR?
Hi everyone, I am sorry if this has been covered before -- perhaps you could give me a link to the relevant info.
I have a client who shoots with a Leica DMR. The reds are way to saturated and magenta. We created a new camera profile in the DNG editor using a color-checker chart, shot at D6500 and Tungsten. Looks great, and Lightroom recognizes it. The issue: when we look at a photograph in the DNG editor with this profile, it looks much better. When we look at the same photograph in LR/ACR with the profile selected, the reds are still too saturated and magenta (though way better than without our profile). Why would a photo look different in the two applications, with the same profile?

Laura ShoeHere is an additional comparison further highlighting the magenta issue (amongst others). Shot with Leica R9 w/DMR(firmware1.3) using Leica Vario-Elmarit-R 35-70mm at ISO 100, f/4.8, 1/60. Manual WB=4912K, no Exp Comp.
Here is screen shot of same DNG image. Un-altered in either app., no presets, no sharpening, or noise reduction. CaptureOne (v4.8.3) on the left, and LR2 (v2.6)

PS the images were shot just shy of perfect focus to test sharpening in both apps, same levels applied to both images (C1 on left, LR on right). Here are the results: -
The images also look different in preview and when i upload them to adobe Revel but when i put them back in photoshop they look Ok.
I convert, in raw to black and white and add sharpness and clarity theirs and a few other options Temp etc if need be. Then i open them into photo shop as black and white. There i place around with the exposure setting but as you do it you have the preview button clicked so you see what the finished photo will look like. When i hit change normally the photo changes and looks like it was in the preview.But now with out changing any settings in photoshop, as i change the photo the preview is different when i click ok to make the changes. This comes and goes in photoshop and its getting a bit frustrating as i do a lot of black and white photos and have been doing for years but i am having this problem over the last 6 months.
No i haven't changed colour settings i have photoshop on the preset settings.
'Preview" when you are changing contrast etc their is the preview option so it shows in photoshop what the changes will be. But what i see when i am changing it is different when i open it. make be a point brighter or not as contrasty as i see it as i am changing the settings. -

Manojnot that i know of. and: you wouldn't want to do that: you'll be missing all the good new parts. for more information on new transactions, deleted transactions etc. make sure your read the release notes.

All of these information can affect your image. And keep in mind that image on the back of the camera is often brighter and more saturated.

The video must have been done with an Aperture version 3.2.4 or earlier. Since Aperture 3.3 are the icons drab and gray - the Aperture 3.3 Release Notes are calling this:

WinXP versions of Firefox don't have the Firefox button like with Windows Vista and WIn7, because with XP the default is to show the Menu Bar. The Firefox button appears when the Menu Bar is not being shown.
Right-click a blank spot on the Menu Bar ''(to the right of Help)'', and de-select Menu Bar by clicking on that contextual menu item. -

The way it is now it will AppendText all the time. But i want it to Add the combinededString only if the text in combindedString was different from the text that is already in the richTextBox. Somhow to keep all the time the last text and compare it and

Prior to upgrading if I brought up my FireFox page I had a header the same as my Google Page. The new/latest FireFox Page does not have the header with the options. Those options were,Images-Videos-Maps-News-Shopping-Mail and a More option with a drop-down menu. Why is this the case?.

I'll pass pass on the "why", although the reason given would be to improve Firefox by having a page that is on your system -- but the the content is not exactly on your system. I always find it amazing that there is anyone who uses the default home page, especially when Firefox has s builtin search bar. Even a couple of my friends who think the internet is their former ISP have there former ISP's page as their their home page.
To restore a Google search page you can replace your homepage with http://www.google.com then you will see those Google applications at the top of the window.

Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. When I converted it to PDF, some of the items were missing, even though they were in the boundaries of the page and looked fine on the Word document. What happened, and how do I fix it? Reader doesn’t create pdf files. You can use Acrobat (ask in that forum) to create pdfs. You can subscribe to the Adobe PDF Pack which has a create pdf functionality (please ask in that forum), or you can use a third party utility such as ghostscript, cutepdf, or Microsoft’s own PDF creation capability. For third party pdf creation you will need to ask in a forum dedicated to that software as fellow users of Reader are unlikely to have the knowledge to help.
