The color profile switch automatically when opening some applications.
Im using the 2012 high-end 15" mac book pro, when I open an apllication such as iPhoto, the color profile switch to "Display" from "Color LCD".
When I quit the iPhoto it switch back to "Color LCD"
How to solve it?
Why does my monitor change colors when the graphics adapter changes?

I am running a 17" current gen MacBook Pro, I have noticed a shift to a blue cast when I use certain applications like screenflow and coda 2. Anyone else have this problem or noticed it.

Firefox keeps freezing up and giving me the colorful spinning wheel especially when I'm chatting with a friend of facebook or when i'm listening to music on myspace or even have just two tabs open and it's never done it before but now it just keeps giving me the colorful spinning wheel and i have to force quit and start over.

== May 5th, 2010Hi If you get an error message saying your flash is blocked by firewall or needs updating or similar and you just get the spinning colour wheel try this link
It takes you to Adobe which tells you which ver of flash player you have - you can then see if there is a later ver by clicking on the library and it automatically selects the correct version for you to download.
Worked a treat for me! Good Luck

Embedded Color Profile is Lost When Content is Published to Web or Dragging Image Window on Desktop
Hello, Everyone. I have a question that I have struggled to crack on my own to no avail. I hope someone here can help.
I am trying to publish some images to the web using color corrected monitors, RAW format, and a color checker passport to create a perfeect color profile. Here are the technical details and my workflow.
Camera: Canon Rebel EOS Xsi
Format: RAW + L
Color Space: sRGB
Color Checker: X-Rite ColorChecker Passport
Monitor Calibrator: Spyder4 Pro, fully updated software
Computer: Lenovo T420 ThinkPad
Second monitor: Samsung LED SyncMaster SA350 (NVIDIA)
Photoshop: v12.1 x64 (CS5.5)
Photoshop Color Settings: Custom North America Web/Internet
RGB: sRGB IEC61966-2.1
CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
Gray: Gray GAmma 2.2
Spot: Dot Grain 20%
Policies
RGB: Preserve Embedded Profiles
CMYK: Preserve Embedded Profiles
Gray: Preserve Embedded Profiles
After importing the image into Photoshop, I make sure the RAW space is set to sRGB IEC6 1966-2.1
Use the eyedropper to select a neutral color one step away from pure white on the RAW image of the color checker, create and set the custom white balance.
set the white balance
Export the image as a DNG
Load the DNG into the X-Rite ColorChecker Passport software to create a color profile
Back to Photoshop
Open the RAW file
Set the white balance to the custom profile created above
Set the color profile created with X-Rite
Open the color-corrected image in Photoshop (see color setting above)
Save as JPEG
Publish
First, everything seems to go great throughout this entire process, until I see the image on the Web: LINK. Once published, the image has a very noticible golden-yellow tint to it. The color-corrected image looks great on both color-calibrated monitors, in RAW and JPEG. Absolutely perfect. After noticing the ugly yellow tint in the image I posted to the Web, however, I became aware of a couple more weird things.
1) When the JPEG was open in Photoshop and I moved the window that contained the image around on my second monitor, the image immediately took on that golden-yellow tint: you can see a screen shot of the color corrected image on my Samsung (bottom) and the yellow version of the same image created when I drag the window around on the Samsung (top) HERE.
2) When opening the X-Rite software, I got a warning saying that the laptop monitor had been calibrated, but that the Samsung had not. I got this error even if I calibrated the Samsung monitor right before using X-Rite. Also, the monitor is definitely calibrated, because the images look great, and the colors match what I see on the laptop.
3) Recently, I noticed that when waking my computer from sleep, the Samsung monitor no longer holds its Datacolor (Spyder4) calibration.
I thought the problem I was having might be due to the monitor, for the reasons stated above. However, I later noticed that when I open the color-corrected JPEG with the default Windows image viewer, it retains the color correction settings. The image looks fantastic, and doesn't lose it's color profile when I drag the window around. Also, there seems to be less color loss in the Word documents and PDFs I included this image in: LINK.
I checked this with several more images, and the results are the exact same. I scoured the Web as best I could, but my problem seems to be pretty unique. Does anyone have an idea what might be causing this?
Thank you!Thank you, twenty_one, for taking the time to read my post and put up a reply. I am going to rebuild my question and post it again here. But first, to answer some of your points:
1. A raw file has no color space, until it's opened into one in the raw converter. So this is controlled in ACR, not the camera.
I just wanted to be as thorough as possible. One of the steps I took was to set the Color Space setting in my camera to sRGB:
2. White balance has no bearing whatsoever on camera profiles. A profile is not for white balancing, it's to account for the spectral distribution of the light, which is something else. You make the profile and assign it in ACR, then you white balance for processing.
I know. I wasn't talking about white balance in my camera. I set the white balance here:
I grabbed the color for setting the WB here:
3. If you get a message about monitor calibration upon opening the camera calibration software, something is seriously confused. The two have nothing to do with each other. No relation whatsoever.
Camera calibration software?
4. A corrupted monitor profile will only show up in Photoshop and other color managed software. Other applications that are not color managed will not use the profile and are not affected. So find out which apps are and which aren't before drawing any conclusions.
Agreed. That's partly what I am trying to get help with.
5. Your links don't work, and in any case clicking on links is something most people including myself dislike. It's much better to insert screenshots in the post, by using the camera icon in the reply box.
I'm new to this forum, so this is helpful to know. This image shows the color-corrected image (bottom) on my Samsung. It looks exactly the same in the same window on my laptop monitor. When I move that window around on my Samsung screen, it turns gold (top). The image, when posted to the web, looks *similar* to that gold color.
So let's say I only use Photoshop on my laptop, which is not displaying any colors. Do you think the golden hue problem will go away? -
Monitor color profiles go away when screensaver runs
When I exit the screensaver on my Mac Pro (Leopard 10.5.5) my color profile is completely wrong with both screens washed out as if they had some awful default profile applied.
I can fix this by entering Preferences and then selecting Display. As soon as I do that, the correct color profile is loaded and everything is fine.
Obviously that is incredibly annoying.
Does anyone know why the screensaver would cause the color profile to go away and/or why exiting the screensaver would not restore it?I've been having the same problem with my Mac Pro, though it only happens on one of the two connected screens.
I upgraded from the original GeForce 7300 GT graphics card to an 8800 GT I got from the local Apple store. Rather than box up the 7300 and throw it on a shelf, I moved the it to the top, 8 lane PCIe slot and installed the 8800 in the bottom, 16 lane slot. In stead of putting full load on one card, I plugged one monitor (1024x768) into the 7300, and the other (1024x1280) into the 8800.
The larger monitor, plugged into the 8800, appears to exhibit the color profile issue for a split second before as the screen saver activates, and often (but not always) when coming out of the screen saver. Opening the monitors pane will load the proper profile, but cycling in and out of the screen saver a few times (the number varies, I've seen anywhere from one to five cycles) can also bring up the correct profile.
In addition, cycling the screen saver will some times result in it deactivating and just sitting at a black screen... The monitor will be on (not in power saving mode), but will only display black. Flinging the mouse back up to the hot corner to cycle on the screen saver results in a momentary flicker of the desktop just before the saver comes up.
The 7300 screen behaves as expected when the 8800 is having problems, throughout the cycling and all. -
Illustrator crashes when opening some PDFs
When opening some PDFs in Illustrator, Illustrator "Quits Unexpectedly"
It only occurs on one out of 15 of our Macs
I am running on all the latest updates both OS and Adobe
It is very intermittent
It only seems to do it across a SMB network share
If the file is copied to the desktop it works fine
If the file is outlined and accessed from the network share it works fine
If the file is moved to another folder on the same network share it seems to work fine
I have repaired all fonts and cleared all font caches
This has recently had a full clean (using adobe's clean script) and re-install of Illustrator because of updating issues, but we have other Macs which have had to go through this also.
I have a crash log also but it is too big to post here
Any ideas before I wipe the lot and start again? It is not nonsense.
A pdf is supposed to be an end-format, not to be edited. Edits should always be done in the originating application, not in Illustrator. A native AI-file is not the same thing as a pdf. Editing pdfs in Illustrator can be a recipe for disaster and damage of the file-content.
The following is from Dov Isaacs at Adobe in teh Indesign mailinglist at Lassosoft:
"Adobe Illustrator is NOT, repeat NOT, repeat yet again NOT a general
purpose PDF (or EPS) editor. It cannot fully and properly edit PDF
(or EPS) files created any than by "save as" operations from the
equivalent or later version of Adobe Illustrator. Illustrator only
"knows" about PDF constructs that it itself generates. Other PDF
constructs may be modified or deleted without notice. Furthermore,
Illustrator does NOT support mixed color-space PDF files. And finally,
Illustrator does NOT make use of any fonts embedded in a PDF file. If
you "edit" a page of a PDF file in Illustrator, you must have the
same version of the same font on the Illustrator system as you have
on the system that creates the PDF.
We constant hear of problems in prepress due to misuse of Adobe
Illustrator as a PDF fixup program. You use Illustrator at your own
risk for this purpose which is absolutely not supported by
Adobe Systems Incorporated!

Why can't I find the color profile info in the library ?
Why can’t I find the color profile info in the library ?
It’s sometimes necessary to convert to sRGB for some applications ( internet, some beamers in clubs,…).
I convert them but afterwards it is nice to have the possibility to check this out and should be possible in lightroom, the info is present why not showing it ( it is not so easy to go in finder and look at it in info for every image)?
Since I’m always working in Adobe profile for printing and so this is important to know !
But no trace of it anywhere….
Thx for any reply. The disconnect here is many (including me) don't reimport rendered JPEGs
into our Lightroom Catalogs. Why you are doing that is beyond me. You
have the original and can recreate any rendered file at any time.
Storing the derivative JPEGs is redundant, creates additional confusion
and serves little real purpose. Exported versions are considered
discarable by many.
Yes, understand what you're meaning. but the fact is that I started rather recently with lightroom. So my images where classified in directory's and subdirectory's...already.
I think that this is the major problem. This is always a problem when you step in a new system.
Let's say I am going to submit to a photographic society, I have an Export
preset created that exports to proper size and color space for
projection. It creates a file. I send it to the club. Then I delete it.
Why save it? I can recreate it. Then I don't have to manage it, search
for it, or worse yet, risk confusion with my original file or othe
resultant derivatives.
The fact that I like to keep them is
indeed an inborn result of the "pré-lightroom period". A bad habitude
indeed. I'm thinking now of deleting them, will maybe better. On the other side
I still have them just for me in order to know which ones I used and when.
Another bad habitude.
But
since I'm not a professional photographer I'm mostly confronted with the time
issue and it is for me easier to take existing files ready for use...
( doesn't mean you’re not confronted
with this problem
Today place for jpeg's is rather easy since the Gb's are almost free...
Same is true of a client photo. They want an 8x10. I go to the retouched
original, create a JPEG from an 8x10 preset in the proper dimensions and color space. Send it to the lab. Then, I can delete it.
One of the strengths of Lightroom is that it creates many fewer
intermediate file versions along the way toward final creation. Another
strength is that you can save (via snapshots in Develop) your
derivatives, export, and discard them without having to create, import
and manage additional files on disk. In the old days of just Photoshop
you might end up with a dozen or more files on your disk for every
worked file. With Lightroom, you only need one or two.
Will look deeper in your proposed workflow...and yes I'm comming from the old days.
That said, if you want to keep the derivatives for purposes down the road,
that is up to you but I don't understand why they need to be inserted
into your catalog.
Since my catalog is made in the time
from before lightroom I’m still having all these directory's and
subdirectory's...
Easier
for me since even with back-ups of the catalogue still afraid for crashes. And
I keep liking these directory structure because for the moment it's lighrtroom
and tomorrow it can be another program, you never know. It's like a website, "on line versoin only", big problem when a firm at some moment stop to provide this possibility.
I think I will try to go deeper in "how to use lightroom better..."
thanks

[SOLVED] KDE switches activities when opening a new File
First off, I've been using KDE Plasma Workspaces for a few months now, and for the most part am largely satisfied. Thanks to both the developers of KDE and to the contributors on Arch who made setting everything up a breeze.
One thing that does annoy me however is how it switches Activities when opening a new file, if the default application already has a running instance. For instance, say I have one Activity which I am using as a development environment and have Kate open to view source. Now I switch to a second Activity where I am working on editing style sheets for my web page and again wish to use Kate. If I open Dolphin and click on one of my style sheets (launching Kate as the default editor) I will be switched back to my first Activity and have the style sheet opened in the already running instance of Kate.
To me this behavior is not ideal, I would rather have the DE spawn a new instance of kate for that Activity. I've perused through some of the settings options but haven't seen anything obvious.
Last edited by brewlius_cesar (2013-08-14 10:29:32)Thanks for the response schmidtbag, but these are both suggestions for opening a file in an existing instance of Kate, when I am looking to instead spawn a new instance (at least for the current Activity). Also, these suggestions are specific to Kate, where I would like this behavior to extend across KDE.
Maybe I am just making a big fuss over nothing, but for me it seems more appropriate to spawn a new instance of a program if I click on a file from a file browser, such as Dolphin. If I wanted to open a file in an already running instance of a program I would use Ctrl+O from that program, or drag the file over to the program as schmidtbag suggested.
I'm thinking about reposting over at kde.org, I'll be sure to follow up back over here, no matter what the outcome is. -

I do have a live stream radio on now...
Therefor new session might not be the complete truth.
GerardA new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

How can I check the color profile for the current document?
I'd like to create a script that checks the current document's color profile and checks it against a string, for example "sRGB IEC61966-2.1". My studio has a script that performs various functions to make sure that all the layers are visible/unlocked, checks for stray points, etc., and we'd like to add a check to the color profile because we handle a large number of files and this setting is overlooked a lot.
It's alright if this value isn't writable through script (we can just pop up an alert letting the user know that they need to change it), but I can't find where to actually read this setting! We're currently working on Macs and with JavaScript, but any nudge in the right direction would be great.
Thanks! The Annoyance Factor. The idea was to add the color profile check once an illustrator is finished with a particular file as a kind of "clean up" before they save and move on to something else. My options as of right now are:
Create a script that saves the file in Illustrator and then closes the document, opens Photoshop if it wasn't open already (wait to load), opens the file in Photoshop (wait to load), change the color profile, and save (wait for the extra save).
Create a script that pops up an alert that says, "Check that your color profile is set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1". And the illustrator will check, save the file, and move on.
We have close to 30 people working on several files every day so wasting all that time waiting for files to load and save in a different application adds up in man-hours pretty quick. In this particular case, getting our people to do it is more efficient. -
Hi,
We are developing quite a few excel worksheet reports.
The reports dont show the cells if contain formulas ( when opened in iPad or ipod ),
Is there any good solutions .
Thanks. There is no version of Excel for iPads. iPads come with something that lets you view the contents of Excel files but it implements only the common easy features and there are (literally) hundreds of things you can do in Excel that it doesn't know how to show on the screen, including some functions.
If you intend to work with spreadsheets on an iPad I suggest you buy Numbers for iPad
http://www.apple.com/apps/iwork/numbers/
which understands more (but still not 100%) of the things that Excel does. It is so cheap that you can probably afford to buy a copy just to see whether it does what you want.
If you are doing things with spreadsheets and intend to be primarily working on iPads then I suggest you actually use Numbers on a Mac as well, rather than using Excel at all. -
Dreamweaver CS3 quits when opening some .aspx files
Dreamweaver CS3 has begun suddenly quitting when opening some .aspx files - not all, just some. Other .aspx files open just fine. In most cases these files are virtually identical in every way from one to the next and still, one will open and the other will cause DW to crash. This problem just started about a week ago.
I have been running DWCS3 on the same Vista Ultimate machine for over 2 years now with Service Pack2 installed. Apart from these few .aspx files, the program is running as it always has... perfectly. Nothing has changed on the machine, nothing new is installed, and, as far as I know, no Windows updates have come through from MS.
I have tried bringing the files down from the remote server to see if my local copies were somehow corrupt but... same thing.

Is it normal that the DataSource field is blank when opening a master data
Is it normal that the DataSource field is blank when opening a master data which is also an InfoSouce in InfoSource page.
Just locate an InfoSource which is also a master data or data target where next to which is a green triangle picture icon in InfoSource page, open it, the top part (Commnication Structure) is automatically expended. Expend the lower part "Transfer_Structure/Transfer_Rules", find the DataSource field is blank. This only occurs for an InfoSource which is also a master data which have more than two data loads (e.g., one is attibute, and the other is text load) or there are two InfoPackage loads for this master data. We checked for master data with only one InfoPackage under it (e.g., only text load) and find it's OK that the datasource field is not blank when expending the lower section.
ThanksKevin
It's not common. If you have three Data Sources like attributes, texts and hierarchy by default attribute data source will appear on the screen and for the rest of the things we need to do dropdown and select. This is how in general it appears.
Thanks
