The colors in Photoshop CC are very dull

I have just downloaded a trial version of Photoshop CC and the colors after selection are very dull, for want of a better word.  The swatches are all bit, the color selection panel is bright and full color, but after selection, and implimentation on an image are dull, and cerytainly not correct.  The monitor is registering colors correctly.  I must have pressed something, or changedf something but know not waht. Grateful for any advice

Look at colour spaces.   How are you bringing the images into Photoshop?  If RGB are they sRGB or Adobe RGB?  If RAW, how do you have Camera RAW preferences set?
Have a look at Soft Proofing under the View menu.  Try setting it to Monitor RGB and toggle on and off with Ctrl(Cmd) y

The update vs. upgrade paths are very confusing. I'm running OS X v10.5.8 and trying to figure out what versions I need to purchase/download in order to become current.
    Thank you!

Phone the Apple Store, order a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, and run Software Update. If your Mac supports it, buy 10.7 or 10.8 from the Mac App Store.

Since we are all only end users here like yourself, nobody here would know such information. However, you can leave feedback to Apple on this through this link.

  • TS1702 When shutting down my iPhone 4S the shut down circle has gone very dull

When I shut down my Apple IPhone 4S the rotating circle now appears very dull when before it was obviously very bright.
Please note I have tried to adjust the light settings on my device and it has made no difference.

Hi Brad, after speaking to Apple Support they have modified the shut down screen with software version 6.1 so that the rotating circle is dull as it was decided that it was an uneccessary screen.

  • When I use the "snapshot tool" some images are very light. how can I adjust the brightness....

I have windows 7 and Acrobat X Pro.
When I use the snapshot tool I cannot figure out how to adjust the brightness on that image? On my old computer a picture tollbar would pop up. A lot of images are very light and I need to darken them.

My not be much you can do. However, I would just clip them into my favorite image tool (in my case IrfanView) and adjust there.

  • The colors of my printer are off

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600, Everytime I print, the colors are all off, I have replaced every single carthridge and I still get the same results. Can someone please help me.

Since the pressure to the screen trick works, that says the internal cable is getting frayed by the hinge.  That resistance on the hinge is there deliberately so you don't push it back too far.   If you do, you can damage the cable.    If the machine was opened after market, the person closing it back up may have not properly tightened the hinge joints, thus defeating the built-in resistance making you end up fraying the cables anyway.  Dropping or bumping against the hinge has the same effect if there is enough force exerted.   Hopefully none of the above has happened, in which case you may have a case for AppleCare to look at.
    Good luck!

  • Can see the bounding box of the object present on the art-board but the colors of that object are not visible!!!! Why???

I have made some objects in 8-bit design style using rectangular grid tool.
I was working on the file, and i saved the file, and then illustrator crashed, and all the data in the 8 bit grid wasn't showing up, only the bounding boxes(rectangular-grid) of those 8-bit designed objects were present with no color/no fill.
I am attaching some screenshots and jpegs to show how it was before and how it is now.
Can somebody help me out in this?

Illustrator crashed when saving and most probably took some of your file with it.
Do you have a backup copy?

  • I upgraded to ios7 and now the keys on my iphone are very slow, each letter takes 5 seconds to appear on screen.

I cannot type properly in applications because each key jams and takes a long time to load on the screen.  It is very frustrating!

Um, most intelligent people would stop whining and read then follow the troubleshooting steps in the thread to which they replied.
Of course, there's always basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide which is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is fixed.

Again, fix it yourself.  There is nothing for Apple to fix as the issue does not affect all iPhones, merely a fraction of less than 1%.

  • The new versons of flashplugin are very slow?

    Hi,
I discovered some flicker issues when viewing flash clips in fullscreen.
    I downgraded the flashplugin to
    flashplugin-10.1.85.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
and everything seems to be fine again.
The biggest plus for the old version can be seen with sites that display more than one flashplayer at a page, for example
    http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/04/ … ive-build/
With the new flashplugin version, I'm barely able to scroll the page (in Opera and Firefox), but with the old version it scrolls smoothly.
    Can anyone confirm this?
If so, it may be useful to open a bugreport?

Flash is closed source, all we can do is package the binary.  File a bug report with Adobe by all means.

  • Why are the colors in Illustrator and Photoshop so off?

    Hi,
Let me just start off by saying I have the color mode in both Illustrator and Photoshop set to RGB. Yet, there is a noticeable color difference between a picture on the internet and when I paste it in for example Photoshop.
    Picture from the internet:
    Picture when pasted in Photoshop:
It's the same thing in Illustrator. And this is not just with pictures by the way, it's affects all the colors I use, which is a major pain in the rear.
    Anyone know a fix?

Well, my suggestion in post #13, was to help me find out what the cause of your problem is. It doesn’t solve your problem permanently but temporarily, only for the current session of Photoshop or Illustrator by making these programs show your image without applying any color management conversions.  So, you have to do this every time you open such files in these programs.
If you want to understand what is going on and be in control, you have to go through a lot of walls of text unfortunately .
I’ll try to explain it roughly but if you don’t understand it you need to read more about color management.
You are using Safari and this is how its color management  works:
    https://developer.apple.com/library/safari/technotes/tn2220/_index.html
    on that page it says:
"Important: For images that are not tagged with a color profile, their color values will be displayed on the screen by Safari with no optimization or adjustment for differences between devices in how they render colors. This may result in the colors not being displayed as originally intended"
This made me think that like most images on the web, the image you are using doesn’t have a color profile. In that case, assuming a certain scenario based on your input, the reason it is displayed differently from Photoshop and Illustrator is because you have a color profile of your monitor used by your system that is different than the color space used for the display of the image. By default RGB Images without a color profile are displayed using  the color space set for the working space in the Color Settings of Photoshop and Illustrator. Also by default this color space is sRGB.  If your monitor was also with an sRGB profile assigned in the system, which is the case with all monitors that come without a color profile provided from the manufacturer, you should have not experienced this problem because Photoshop and Illustrator will see that the color space you want to display your image is sRGB and your monitor is sRGB, and there will be no color conversions because both color spaces, source and destination are the same.  Unless someone else has setup your system ,color management, and installed a monitor profile,  my guess is that the manufacturer of your monitor has provided a color profile installed in your system that is not sRGB.
When you choose View > Proof Setup > Monitor RGB, this in effect turns off the color management because you are displaying the image in the same color space as the one assigned to your monitor.
If you want to turn off the color management permanently which will be valid only when displaying images in the sRGB color space, you can assign the sRGB color profile to your monitor. This will show the images on your monitor with the same colors as those displayed without color management in the other applications and choosing View > Proof Setup > Monitor RGB will make no difference.
Non color managed programs can display the color only in the way your monitor displays it. Color managed programs simulate other outputs on your monitor. The only way to match the display in color managed and non color managed software is to turn off the color managed software. This will display the same color values with the same color in all programs on your monitor.
The purpose of the color management is to allow the viewer  see the colors as intended (the way the creator sees them when creating the image). Different devices and media output the same color values differently resulting in different color. Therefore, when the viewer uses different device or media the colors if not color managed properly will look different or not as close as possible.
When you turn off the color management, or even when it is on but not properly applied, which I suspect is the case in your situation, you can’t be sure that the colors you see are as intended. In other words, you can’t tell if an image is supposed to look the way you see it, and you can’t create images providing means that will allow others to see them the way you see them.
So, for whatever reasons you want to make colors look the same in all your programs, have in mind that this is valid only on the current state of your monitor, and this also cuts the possibility to see and send to others colors as intended.

  • How can I better improve the color of images between Photoshop and Premiere?

I have trouble getting true colors between Photoshop and Premiere CS6.
What can I do to solve this situation?

Premiere Pro works internally with colors in an RGB (red, green, blue) color space. If you want to edit video clips you create in Photoshop in Premiere Pro, create the clips in RGB.
If you want to broadcast the final movie it is best to ensure, in Photoshop, that the colors in your image are broadcast-safe. Assign the appropriate destination color space—for example, SDTV (Rec. 601)—to the document in Photoshop.
You can refer to some suggestion as below:

  • Can you layer a Microsoft shape onto an image in Photoshop and change the color???

I'm using OS X Yosemite 10-10-1, Photoshop CC, 2014.2.1. I uploaded a shape from Word Office 2011 and layered it over my image. The symbol is blue and I want to change the color in Photoshop. I've tried but can't seem to figure out how it's done. The shape is blue.
    Thank you.

Put the Word symbol on a new Word document.
    Save as  .pdf
Bring into Photoshop and save as .psd. The area around the symbol will be clear.
Drag symbol layer over an image
Lock the clear area usng the symbol indicated by the red arrow shown above
    Choose your replacement color
Edit > Fill with the Blending Mode set to Color
    Job done.
