  • My computer doesn't recognize my Ipod and it is disabled

After not using my ipod touch fro a while, I forgot the password. I used up all the tries, and now it says that it is diabled and i have to connect it to my itunes. When I plug it into my Windows 8 computer, itunes doesn't recgonize my ipod. It is on file for back up, but nothing happens. My itunes is up to date. I don't know what to do. I've tried so many different things.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

Hi guys, I've been also suferring a lot as I can only watch my 30Gb Ipod bugged by these no-connection issues.
Basically I've had most of the trouble listed by the Itunes7.5+Ipod topics. The chief complain would be that the Itunes begins to but can´t finish syncing my Ipod. It starts to sync it but all of a sudden it shows: "The required file could not be found. Err -48" and also "the required disk could not be found. err 1516".
I've had two lousy days thinking over this ordeal and after a few dozen trials (including trying to restore it, Itunes 6 downgrading, etc.) no success whatsoever . And finally what seemed to fix it for now was:
    1)Here in the forum I got this hint to update the Terminal Services (at the computer managing/ services and applications window from my PC) by switching it to manual and restarting the machine;
    2)Trying all my usb hubs, updating, uninstalling, etc;
3)As soon as Itunes finally begins to sync your pod, a message should appear indicating that some files aren't able to be synced cause their format are not supported by the Ipod. DON'T CLICK IT CLOSED till it syncs the whole thing. Once finished syncing you'll have to click in order to eject and the message that it couldn't sync will appear. Ignore it and eject and it should be synced.
It's not what it should be, but it worked for me and saved my day today. Hope Apple releases an update for the update soon and fix this terrible bug.
Does anyone really know which is err-48??? And why can´t we download Ipod v1.5? It starts do download but breaks up as above.
Thanks, the discussion forum actually helped me a lot.

  • When I synch my iPod w. new MacBook Pro, laptop doesn't show which podcasts I've already listened to on the iPod.  (My old MacBook did do that.)

I used to download new podcasts to my old MacBook, plug in my iPod, click the Synch button, and not only did the new podcasts get copied from the laptop to the iPod, but iTunes on my laptop would show which podcasts I'd already listened to, so it was easy to delete the old stuff, synch again, and the old podcasts would be gone from both the laptop and the iPod.
When I try to do the same thing with my new MacBook Pro (which I set up using  the Migration Assistant to copy apps, including iTunes, from my old laptop), that doesn't happen:  When I download a new podcast, plug in my iPod, and hit Synch, the new podcast isn't copied, nor does iTunes show which podcasts I've listened to since the iPod was plugged in the last time.
What used to be quick and easy is now cumberson and, because it's hard to remember which podcasts I've listed to and which I havened, error-prone!
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The installer DMG will be in the Applications folder
I haven't tested this, but it seems somewhat at odds with this recent MacWorld article, which gives a method for "capturing" the Lion installer downloaded via the Recovery HD, and then creating a bootable installer volume from it.
Create a bootable Lion install drive for newer Macs
The article is meant for Macs that came pre-installed with Lion and therefore can't use the App store. The article describes a procedure to retrieve the Lion download not from /Applications but from a folder named "Mac OS X Install Data" which gets created at the root of the drive where Lion is to be installed. It's tricky, because normally that installer self-launches immediately after the download, and then deletes itself afterwards.
They distinguish this procedure from an earlier, simpler one that can be used if Lion gets downloaded via the App store - they reference an earlier article for that situation, which does involve retrieving the installer from /Applications. That method has been publicized in many places.
The inference for me was  that the Recovery HD does not download anything to /Applications - otherwise the earlier procedure would work, and this new article would be unnecessary.  As I said, thoiugh, I haven't tested anything.

Please help me out as this is very irritating. This has been happening for the last 20-30 minutes. It had roughly half battery left.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • TS3694 Just took my 1st gen iPod out of it's original box, never used before.  Plugged it into my new Mac book Pro and it recognizes that the iPod is in recovery mode but when I click to restore, error 1611 comes up - but that error code doesn't say what

I had an 8GB 1st gen iPod in it's original box in storage and just took it out to hook it up.  Charged it overnight, plugged it into new Mac Book Pro and it was recognized as being an iPod in recovery but other identifying information was all indicated as "n/a" (so, unknown OS, etc).  Error code 1604 came up so I downloaded iTunes on the Mac Book and it is currently showing version 10.  But now when I try to restore the iPod, error code 1611 comes up and the troubleshooting doesn't tell me what else to try.  The USB connector that came with the iPod was also never used before - brand new also from the box so that should be fine.  I also tried a different USB port on the Mac Book.  Any ideas?

    Error 1611
This error typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, this error may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

How do I use my ipod in the car without it constantly charging?  I have to use a docking cable into the USB port because the 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack I bought doesn't work with the ipod (although it does work with an MP3 player).  My ipod is a 5th generation 80GB classic.

I know this is old - but did you ever get this working. Thinking of getting a 780 ti card and I have an older mac with the mini-displayport too.

  • I have an iPhone 4 and an iPod 4th gen linked to the same email address and apple ID. I am trying to set up a new email address for the iPod so a family member can use it but it doesn't want to recognize the new email account. Where am I going wrong?

I have an iPhone 4 and a 4th gen iPod linked to the same email address and apple ID. I am trying to change the email address on the iPod so a family member can use it but when I do it says it doesn't recognize the email address. Where am I going wrong ? I just want them to be able to iMessage and email without having to use my email address.

The procedure is Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at>Add another email address. The email address has to be a valid working email address, obviously. Apple should verify the email address and you have to go to the inbox of that email account, read the verification email from Apple and follow the inductions in the email in order to complete the verification. Then you go back to the settings, uncheck your email address and check the new email address to be used as the contact email address.

"Connect to a computer. Use iTunes to restore."  When I connect to a computer, iTunes doesn't recognise it.  The iPod 5th Gen does not work at all. How do I fix my iPod without losing any data?
I have seen the Apple webpage suggesting the "five R's" (including restore).  Before doing anything, I want to be sure that restoring or any other action is not going to delete or risk my data.
I would be very grateful if anyone can suggest a fix for this problem, in a way that will not risk my data.
    Thanks in advance!

Did you try a hard reset with the iPod still connected to your PC?  Have you tried multiple USB ports, preferably high powered USB 2.0 ports?
To do a hard reset, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Have you also worked through each and every single troubleshooting suggestion in this Apple support document?

    - See:

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. I suspect a hardware problem  due to the hotness. If iTunes can't see the iPod then uor only hope if to contact a data recovery company for getting data off the iPod. If you have an iPod backup you can restore another iPod, iPhone or iPad from the backup to get the data that was in the backup
