The Component class
Can anybody tell me why the Component class should be an abstract class? It seems to me that the class should be defined as a concrete class because non of its methods is abstract type. Thanks. altech
Most likely it was done so that developers seeking to create a new flavor of AWT Component would be required to extend the Component class, rather than creating generic Components left and right. A generic Component object isn't really useful at all anyway, due to its lack of interesting behavior.
The class is intended to act as an interface for users of Component subclasses (not interface as in a Java interface, but in the general OO sense of the word). It is a common root for all AWT "components," so that they may be acted upon in a similar fashion utilizing polymorphism.
There may be a more legitimate reason why it is abstract, but this is my guess. It makes sense to me.

Assistance class not instantiated in the component controller of an ABAP WD
I have a very weird problem when trying to launch an ABAP webdynpro I get a short dump, looking into it the assitance class does not get instantiated properly so it falls over. It used to work, but I don't think I have substantially changed anything with the assitance class just on the layout, although something must have changed.
In the constructor of the component controller it trys to cast (I think that is the correct term) the assistance class from the compoent controller as below, Me->f_Alter_Ego->assistance_class is initial so that fails, it then tries to create the assistance class and falls over on create object Me->f_Assist.
try.
Me->f_Assist ?= Me->f_Alter_Ego->assistance_class.
catch cx_sy_move_cast_error. "#EC NO_HANDLER
endtry.
if not Me->f_Assist is bound.
create object Me->f_Assist.
endif.
Extract from the short dump below.
What happened?
Error in the ABAP Application Program
The current ABAP program "/1BCWDY/4LYS0NWZ8L8ENKKA93YQ==CP" had to be
terminated because it has
come across a statement that unfortunately cannot be executed.
The following syntax error occurred in program
"ZCL_WD_USER_MAINT=============CP " in include
"ZCL_WD_USER_MAINT=============CM004 " in
line 7:
"You can only use "class=>method" with static methods."
Other ABAP web dynpros in our system are fine.
I have tried the obvious stuff like removing the assitance class from the WD component and putting it back in again.
There is obviously somehting I am missing can anyone point me in the right direction or has experienced this before?
Thanks,
TimThanks Thomas,
I could not see the wood for the trees on that one, I had syntax checked the assitance class ZCL_WD_USER_MAINT, however, that error would have been raised at runtime.
Anyway all sorted now.

Class Cast Exception in JSP of the component
Hi,
I am trying to call a web service from the JSP of the component.I have written the java code as a scriplets in the JSP. The problem i am facing is Class Cast Exception. The code is as follows
String strKey = "wsclients/proxies/sap.com/CCMSContentBroker/com.sap.ccmscontentbroker.CCMSContentProxy";
java.lang.Object obj ;
obj = context.lookup(strKey);
str1 = obj.getClass().getName();
ContentBroker objCB= null;
objCB = (ContentBroker)obj; // getting error here
ContentBroker is an web service interface. The same code is working if i write it in the component but not in the scriplet of the JSP.
Can't we do the type cast in the JSP ?
Cant we call the web services in the JSP?
How to eliminate this Class cast Exception in my code?
Thanks and Regards,
SaravananHi Harini,
Thanks for your reply. I have checked all the import statements in the JSP.The problem is in the Type casting of object <b>obj</b> to ContentBroker variable <b>objCB</b>.
Are u saying typr casting is not possible in JSP or organising imports in the JSP.
These are my imports statements in the JSP
<%@ page import = "java.util.ResourceBundle" %>
<%@ page import = "com.sapportals.htmlb.*" %>
<%@ page import = "com.intel.ccmt.ccmscontentbroker.* "%>
<%@ page import = "com.intel.ccmt.ccmscontentbroker.types.* "%>
<%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.contentconversion.XSLConverter" %>
<%@ page import = "com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.IPortalComponentRequest" %>
<%@ page import="java.io.File" %>
<%@ page import="javax.naming.Context" %>
<%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext" %>
<%@ page import="javax.naming.NamingException" %>
<%@ page import="java.util.StringTokenizer"%>
Can u help me on rectifying this class cast Exception ?

Error on live web server - Retrieving the COM class factory for component
I've had a good read of this forum and can't find the answer to this particular issue. Everything works fine until I upload my vb.net/crystal reports solution to my live production web server. The error I get when I try to open a Crystal Report from the web is:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {059AC10F-0010-4C43-8876-1FC7BEAF218B} failed due to the following error: 80070005.
It is the following line of my VB.net source code that causes the error.
Dim oRpt As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
I've installed CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.msi to my Windows 2008 / IIS7 web server (This is a 64bit server).
The website works fine on a 32 bit system but on this new server I keep getting the above errors.
I've tried resinstalling the crystal reports numerous times and restarting. I've also tried installing the SP2 version of the CRRuntime and still get the same errors.
I've added read/write permissions to Windows/Temp directory for Network Service.
I've tried to manually register sacommlayer.dll which registers correctly.
The website is not compiled into a binary, the aspx.vb files are simply uploaded to the webserver and compiled on the fly by the server.
I've tried to add <identity impersonate="true" userName="MACHINENAME\administrator" password="PASSWORD" /> into the web.config file to see if this gets any further.
It does however then errors on the following VB Line.
oRpt.SetDataSource(dsSWMP)
with the error
Failed to load database information.Error in File crSitewasteManagementPlan {BEC6811A-D612-4ED6-9AF7-B0C9BED7A966}.rpt:
Failed to load database information
I've also tried opening up the C: / D: drives to the NETWORK SERVICE account with full control (temporarily) to see if I can get past the errors, however this has not worked for me.
Any other ideas to why this might not be working? Ideally I would not like to be using the identity impersonation at all.
Kind Regards
JamesDear Ludek,
I have tried manually registering the sacommlayer.dll already however this didn't make a difference.
I have checked versions of this DLL between the 2 servers and they are the same. (v12.0.0.683)
Find below the logs from process monitor for the 64 bit server.
It definitely shows where it is failing.. any suggestions to fix it?
I can email more detailed logs if you supply me with your email address.
Kind Regards
James

LCES server caches the custom component classes
I found that sometime during the (patching) deploy/undeploy install/uninstall phase of custom component LCES start 'caching the custom component or its helper classes' and any changes made to them does not get reflected.
But after the server restarted every thing work as expected.
i.e. If server is restarted the latest changes to component deployed previously to server restart get reflected.
Pl. help.
Any one had simillar issue?
Thanks
YogHi Paul,
I have tried both of these frequently (many times)
1) Component > STOP > PATCH > START
2) Component > STOP > UNINSTALL > INSTALL > START
but no effect after some point when server keeps the cache. (it works some time but not all the time I thought 2nd approach should always work)
But if I restart the server it seems to show the expected result always.
Does any Adobe teche knows how to gaurrentee 100% that chnges will reflect after new version of the component is installed without restart of the server.
Also I seen some inside the service impl at the begining of the service method code store the classloader:
ClassLoader originalClassloader = Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader();
and restore it at the end of service method:
if (originalClassloader != null) {
Thread.currentThread().setContextClassLoader(originalClassloader);
How does this affect?
and also if one component depends on another how does that affect?
Thanks

How can I determine the feeder class for a WebDynpro component in SRM 7.0?
Hi experts.
I am trying to figure out how to add some columns to the list of contract items for this WebDynpro application/view:
Applikation: /SAPSRM/WDA_L_FPM_OIF
Web Dynpro-komponent: /SAPSRM/WDC_CTR_DOTC_IT
Window: IV_L_FPC_CA_TREE
View: V_CTR_DODC_ITEMS
Configuration-ID: /SAPSRM/WDCC_FPM_CTR_DOTC_ITM
All the documentation I can find regarding the FPM says to change the feeder class, but nowhere I have seen do they explain how to determine the feeder class of an existing component/view.
I am hoping for your help!
Thanks!
Best regards
Per Hjorth ChristiansenThe term "feeder class" normally refers to the POWL search, not the actual document detail screen. You could just add one more column by enhancing the webdynpro view.

>I saw that the one pdf was created in Adobe Designer 7.1 and the other in Amgraf OneForm Designer Plus.
Ok, we can only say anything about the first one. But you must find
out what kind of form it is if you want to work with it
programmatically: they are utterly unlike each other.
You cannot use FDF format with an a form made with Designer (also
called an XFA form or XML form). But you can import an XML file in
Acrobat.

No, completely different issue. This file has been prepared specially
so it can be saved in Adobe Reader. Any change to the file will break
this. The only exception is Acrobat, which you cannot use.
No third party product can repair this, but Adobe's server product
LiveCycle Reader Extensions can put back the rights. You might use
this in conjunction with LiveCycle Forms.

Hey guys,
I've used xp_cmdpowershell from SQL Server 2008 R2 to execute a powershell scripts.
One of this scripts creates a internetexplorer.application object.
When I execute this script on powershell(version 2.0), it runs.
But when trie to execute for xp_cmdpowershell it fails.
error output:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} error: 80070005
script example:
$ie = New-object -com 'internetexplorer.application'
$ie.navigate("http://www.google.com")
$ie.visible = 1
sleep -s 10
$ie.quit()
xp_cmdpowershell example:
EXEC master..xp_cmdshell 'powershell C:\DataLocalTopRonda\scr.ps1';
Anyone have any ideas? Any help will be appreciated.8007005 is typically 'Access Denied'. Did you verify DCOM permissions to this class object? Are you using the same credentials in the PowerShell console as what is being done in SQL?

PushpendraHello Pushpendra,
Microsoft does not currently recommend, and does not support, Automation of Microsoft Office applications from any unattended, non-interactive client application or component (including ASP, ASP.NET, DCOM, and NT Services), because Office may exhibit
unstable behavior and/or deadlock when Office is run in this environment.
If you are building a solution that runs in a server-side context, you should try to use components that have been made safe for unattended execution. Or, you should try to find alternatives that allow at least part of the code to run client-side.
If you use an Office application from a server-side solution, the application will lack many of the necessary capabilities to run successfully. Additionally, you will be taking risks with the stability of your overall solution.
You can read more about that in the
Considerations for server-side Automation of Office article.
Consider using the Open XML SDK, see
Welcome to the Open XML SDK 2.5 for Office . Also any third-party components can be used instead. -

There are a incompatibility problems with x64 OS??
Please Help me.
Thanks.Hi! I see this is the most recent thread that deals with the Crystal Reports add-on not starting on a 64 bit Windows server. I read the SAP note #1090628. I see the solution is to recompile the add-on as a 32-bit app.
My question is: How do I do that? I have the Visual Basic Studio, and I have the standard download of Crystal that SAP allows. But that's it.
Does anyone know which part of all those little programs I need to re-compile, and how to do it?
Thanks,
