The computer it was first activated is gone, so I can't connect to Itunes. Is my Ipod dead?

So, my bro was messing with my Ipod, until it started saying "Ipod disable, connect to Itunes." I heard you must connect the Ipod on the computer it was first activated? But this computer is broken and we got rid of it a while ago. Will I have to buy a new one? What can I do? Thanks for answers.

you just need to have the usb cable that connects to almost any computer, so the ipod can charge. the computer must have itunes downloaded onto the computer inorder to change the songs, or manage certian things.

  • Can't connect to iTunes from my iPod Touch or from my Computer!!

Since yesterday, I have been having trouble connecting to the iTunes store from my iPod and computer. I can search for apps and whatever on both devices, but when it comes time to download them, on the iPod it just says "Waiting.." for a while, then it says "cannot connect to the iTunes store"
If I try to download an app from iTunes on the computer(Windows Vista, HP), it'll go to the iTunes store, I can search for things all fine and dandy and when I get an app I want to download and click it and type in my password to download it, it'll say, "Accessing iTunes store..." then it says "We could not complete your iTunes store request. The internet connection has timed out"
My internet connection is perfectly fine, working just great. I've tried everything it suggests on the Apple site, from changing the hosts abd firewall settings. NOTHING IS WORKING!
I'd really appreciate some help. This is very frustrating. Holidays are supposed to be happy times, right? :'(
Thanks in advance for any help!!

    Try:
iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
If you have a 2G iPod those can only go to 4.2.1

  • Upgraded to v6 iphone software, all my contacts have gone, and I can't connect to my email.  Other web pages seem ok.  Help!

    Hi
Can anyone help me?  Since upgrading to v6 of the iphone software the other day, all my contacts have gone, and I can't connect to orange contacts restore to get them back, or access my email. Other web pages seem ok.
When I try to connect to the orange backup app, the connection just times out and says connection error.  When I try to access my email it says verify i have put the correct a/c info into mail settings.
Both things were fine before I updated.

iPhoto stores your photos in the iPhoto Library, by default it is in your Pictures folder. Double-click the iPhoto Library in "Pictures". Did you restore your documents and data, including the Pictures folder from your backup after the drive has been wiped?

I had first registered my iPhone with an old laptop, the computer is no longer functional.  I cant now transfer music from my iTunes account to my phone, I am not sure what to do any suggestions?

Iphone will sync itunes content with one computer at a time.  If you sync to another, it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
    What have you tried?
    What happened?

  • The computer that I first used to download iTunes is no more. I have a new computer that I set my wife up on.  While I can see all my music in the iTunes library I cannot sync my iPod

The computer that I first used to download iTunes, to buy songs and to sync my iPod Nano to iTunes is no more.  I have a new computer that I inadvertently set my wife up on.  When I sign in, while I can see all my music in the iTunes library, when I tried to 'sync', I have lost all my music in my iPod and I now have my wife's library on there instead.
I subscribed to iTunes Match, thinking that this would help.  It hasn't and I'm not happy!
I have arranged to take my iPod into an Apple store next Tuesday but isn't there something you can tel me to do that ties my iPod wth my music and leaves my wife's music for her iPod?  Please help, I am so frustrated and have wasted so much time on this, reinstalling iTunes, restoring my iPod....
    Can anyone help?

You need to place the device in recovery mode.

  • Is it possible to retrieve a registration key for a hard copy of iWork 06? Moved and cannot locate disc, and replaced the computer it was originally installed on. When I transferred the program to new Macbook, the reg key apparently didn't transfer.

Is it possible to retrieve a registration key for a hard copy of iWork 06? Moved and cannot locate disc, and replaced the computer it was originally installed on. When I transferred the iWork from original Macbook Pro to new Macbook Pro, the reg key apparently didn't transfer. Any ideas?

Do you still have access to the old MacBook Pro? If so, you can transfer the license by copying the com.apple.iwork.plist from Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences to the same location on the new Mac. Note that this IS the main HD Library, not your user library. I have found that these files are not moved during setup or migration.
Are you really running Tiger 10.4.7? If so, you should update to 10.4.11. You can find the updater here. You also might consider buying the retail disk of iWork '09 from a third-party such as Amazon.com or eBay. It will add a lot of features for you. iWork '09 does require Tiger 10.4.11 at a minimum.

  • My HD crashed on the computer I was syncing to- Can I copy photos

My HD crashed on the computer I was syncing to- Can I copy photos OFF my Apple TV? There is a possiblity that some may not have been backed up anywhere else.
    Thanks,
    Mitch

It would be interesting to ask at an Apple store near you if they have any kind of service program for the machine.
I've never seen mention of one, but if the USB port is for service/diagnostic purposes then it would seem logical that larger Apple stores would be equipped to restore corrupt disk images via an external device/software - if they can do this then presumably they'd be able to get data off the AppleTV too.
They might charge for the privilege but depend how important those photos are.
Alternatively if you are extremely technically minded and don't mind dismantling the AppleTV then you may find it possible to access the data direct yourself after connecting the internal drive to some form of USB drive enclosure.
Commercial disc recovery can help in some cases but can be very expensive. Depending on what platform you're on there may also be software recovery applications such as Spinrite at www.grc.com, but they don't always work.
    Good luck.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
