The continually updating 5g iPod (1.2)/ iTunes7

I recently updated to iTunes 7 and firmware 1.2. Now when I connect the iPod, it updates it just fine and then it disconnects it at the end of the sync. That's all fine, I just want it to sit there and charge. But, after about 3 seconds of being disconnected, it reconnects and tells me that the iPod is once again being updated. This seems to go on endlessly - even if I am quick enough to hit "sleep" on the iPod during the 3-5 seconds of the "do not disconnect" being on the screen between syncs. I just want to charge the iPod and not have my computer keep trying to update it. Any ideas?

I uninstalled the iPod software (6-28 version) and uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 7. I think there was a conflict with the old ipod software and itunes 7 as Vista did not remove it when installing itunes 7 originally.

    Try:

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • What is the latest update for ipod 4g

i want to know what the latest update for ipod 4g

Update 6.1.3 is the latest and will be the last!

  • Ever since the new update, my Ipod won't sync. Starts to sync but then goes back to connected eject before disconnecting. Still won't transfer songs even after being restored. Restored fine. But now I've got nothing on it. Please god help!

For awhile, since the newest update, I'd noticed when charging the ipod (classic) that it stopped going to the charging screen and would stay on the  Connected: Eject before disconnecting' screen. But, y'know, didn't matter to me, it still charged... until today when I tried to add music. Tried it many times, reset it... STILL wouldn't transfer songs... It would 'say' it was syncing, but then suddenly stop and stay on the same Connect: please eject before disconnecting' page. I did a couple of times get a message about scanning it but, after restoring that never popped up again...
So, I do a system restore on it and ofcourse THAT works, but it STILL won't sync! So, now I've got an ipod with no music that won't sync and because it's all gone on there, I'm not sure how to back up my stuff (should I need to re-install iTunes... Though I doubt it'd work...)... So, yeah, I tried a different cable too, still no luck...
There has GOT to be some way to fix this!
Please somebody help me out! I so freaking appreciate it you have NO idea!

I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.

  • After the latest update my iPod nano 7th gen only plays/shows 261 of 849 songs from my main playlist, but they're definitely all on it.

I have a favorite playlist, where're all songs in I rated with 5 Stars. It's 849 songs big. After the latetst update (1.0.3) the count under the playlist's name on the iPod says there're only 261 songs in and when I scroll through, the list really ends way too early.
But if I use the iPod's tab "Songs" I can find every song that's synced with the iPod, even the missing songs from my favorite list.
Also under the tab "on this iPod" on iTunes the favorite list seems complete.

Oh, Bluetooth also daoesn't work anymore!
Thanks for this great update, that causes problems where everything worked fine before!

  • IS the new update for iPod mini too?

I just downloaded the new update and it's not working for my iPod mini--is this supposed to be just for the new iPod- nano?

IPod Updater 2005-09-06 contains the same software versions as iPod Updater 2005-06-26 for all other iPod models beside the nano.
So, there's nothing new for you in it.

  • HT2292 After the Itunes update my ipod nano is not being recognised by the computer or Itunes.

It says and ipod has been detected but it could not be identified properly.  I have tried all the solutions on the website but nothing is working since the update

I have tried all the solutions on the website but nothing is working since the update
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • Ever since the ios updates, my ipod will not connect to my computer or itunes.

So am unable to get music on it, etc. Is there anything I can do? Besides reinstall itunes, because that did not work.
I also cannot even go through my device managers since nothing even appears. I have a Toshiba Windows 7 Laptop.

    See
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - I would start with
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
    - New cable and different USB port
    - Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

  • Does the new update for ipod touch ( ios 6.1.6 ) restore your device?

There was a software update that came out a few days ago. A while back I updated my software ( a few month back ) and it restored my ipod, I had 89 apps ( 10 i paid for ) just a few pics and 127 songs - some i paid for.
So I had to pay for it allllllll again. I don't want to make the same mistake twice.
Could Someone Give Me Any Advice?
I know you can back it up to itunes or icloud and that.... but it still restores it!
    If this helps:
    Ipod 4gen 8GB ( Don't ask how i had 89 apps..... i looked on my settings )
I'm not sure if some Ipod's restore and some not but Just thought I'd give you the info above.
I don't want anything to do with restoring it!!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm Just asking if anyone has done it and if there's has restored ----------------------------------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------- Ipod 4gen for ios 6.1.6 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------

Infrequently a glitch occurs and restoring the iPod is required.
I do not understand why you had top  pay again previous for iTunes purchases
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Some countries limit what yo can redownload without having to pay again.
Transfer iTunes purchases to you computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
Make a backup of your iPod too
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
Note that the iTunes backup does not include any synced media like apps and music.
The iCloud backup only includes iTunes purchases.

  • What did the forced update for iPod touch 2g(A1288) achieve/do to my ipod?

    help would be appreciated, Sim

The fact is that the App you want, CSR Racing, requires a 3rd generation Touch. That is stated in the Requirements for the App. So it will not run or install on your 2nd generation Touch, regardless of any updates that you eventually install.
The update (which was not "forced" at all) was probably designed to fix bugs and improve performance. That update came out some time ago (even though you have only just updated, as deduced from your other post)  and frankly, I for one, have forgotten exactly what it did.
Perhaps you should spend some time reading therough various posts in these discussions to understand the what, why and limitations of the update instead of posting a new question after Illaass has answered you in your other post.

In the fall. You will be bored with it by February of 2014. You should wait until you grow up to buy one, say the 19th generation model.
