The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value
I am trying to insert records into a temporary table with date values concatenated with other string values into one large string value.I am getting the following error:
Msg 242, Level 16, State 3, Line 12
The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value.
Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 28
Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string.
-My code below
Declare
@hdrLOCAL char(255),
@CR char(255),
@BLDCHKDT DATETIME,
@BLDCHTIME DATETIME,
@hdrline int
SELECT @hdrLOCAL = DDLINE FROM DD40400 WHERE INDXLONG =1
SELECT @CR = DDLINE FROM DD40400 WHERE INDXLONG =2
SELECT @hdrline =1
SELECT
@BLDCHKDT = CONVERT(varchar(20),T756.PAYDATE,105) ,
-- convert(varchar,getdate(),15)
@BLDCHTIME= CONVERT(varchar(20),T756.PAYDATE,105)
FROM STATS.dbo.DD10500 T762
LEFT OUTER JOIN STATS.dbo.DD10400 T756 ON (
T762.INDXLONG = T756.INDXLONG
AND T756.INCLPYMT = 1
WHERE (T756.INCLPYMT = 1)
AND (T762.DDAMTDLR <> 0)
Create TABLE [dbo].[##DD10200B](
[INDXLONG] [int] NOT NULL,
[DDLINE] [varchar](8000) NOT NULL,
[DEX_ROW_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
BEGIN
INSERT INTO ##DD10200B (INDXLONG,DDLINE)
VALUES (1,@hdrLOCAL +',' + @CR +','+ @BLDCHKDT +',' + @BLDCHTIME )
END
Msg 242, Level 16, State 3, Line 12
The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value.
Msg 241, Level 16, State 1, Line 28

The Best thing in Life is Life
Since the Variable
BLDCHKDT and BLDCHTIME are of type date time why are you trying to assign it a value
of type varchar
and the format 105 gives you dd-mm-yyyy but SQL server takes the default format as mm-dd-yyyy so the error occurs for all dates that
are greater than 12
try the below code
Declare
@hdrLOCAL char(255),
@CR char(255),
@BLDCHKDT Varchar(50),
@BLDCHTIME Varchar(50),
@hdrline int
SELECT @hdrLOCAL = DDLINE FROM DD40400 WHERE INDXLONG =1
SELECT @CR = DDLINE FROM DD40400 WHERE INDXLONG =2
SELECT @hdrline =1
SELECT
@BLDCHKDT = CONVERT(varchar(20),T756.PAYDATE,105) ,
-- convert(varchar,getdate(),15)
@BLDCHTIME= CONVERT(varchar(20),T756.PAYDATE,105)
FROM STATS.dbo.DD10500 T762
LEFT OUTER JOIN STATS.dbo.DD10400 T756 ON (
T762.INDXLONG = T756.INDXLONG
AND T756.INCLPYMT = 1
WHERE (T756.INCLPYMT = 1)
AND (T762.DDAMTDLR <> 0)
Create TABLE [dbo].[##DD10200B](
[INDXLONG] [int] NOT NULL,
[DDLINE] [varchar](8000) NOT NULL,
[DEX_ROW_ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
BEGIN
INSERT INTO ##DD10200B (INDXLONG,DDLINE)
VALUES (1,@hdrLOCAL +',' + @CR +','+ @BLDCHKDT +',' + @BLDCHTIME )
END
the only change done is
@BLDCHKDT Varchar(50),
@BLDCHTIME Varchar(50),

Below select statement results in "The conversion of a nvarchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out of range value" error. By the way Terms
field's data type is nvarchar
SELECT * from INVOICE
where convert(datetime,Terms)
BETWEEN
'01/01/14'
and
'01/30/15'If you can't use TRY_CONVERT (It's only available in 2012+) You should be able to validate the data with something like this (based on your example date formats):
DECLARE @notDate TABLE (Terms NVARCHAR(10))
INSERT INTO @notDate (Terms) VALUES
('01/01/14'),('02/29/14'),('01/32/15'),('13/13/14'),('13/3/14'),('13-13/14'),('02/29/12'),('02/29/13')
SELECT *,
CASE WHEN (LEN(Terms) - 2) <> LEN(REPLACE(Terms,'/','')) OR LEN(Terms) <> 8 THEN 'Bad Form'
WHEN LEFT(Terms,2) > 12 THEN 'Bad Month'
WHEN LEFT(Terms,2) IN (9,4,6,11) AND LEFT(RIGHT(Terms,5),2) > '30' THEN 'Bad Day'
WHEN LEFT(Terms,2) = 2 AND LEFT(RIGHT(Terms,5),2) > (28 + CASE WHEN (2000+RIGHT(Terms,2)) % 400 = 0 THEN 1 WHEN (2000+RIGHT(Terms,2)) % 100 = 0 THEN 0 WHEN (2000+RIGHT(Terms,2)) % 4 = 0 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END) THEN 'Bad Day'
WHEN LEFT(Terms,2) NOT IN (2,9,4,6,11) AND LEFT(RIGHT(Terms,5),2) > '31' THEN 'Bad Day'

Varchar to datetime conversion out-of-range
I'm importing data from CSV and I get the following conversion datetime error:
The conversion of a varchar data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range value.
The statement has been terminated.
I'm using the following statement to convert the datetime from varchar(100) to datetime:
CONVERT (datetime,TimeIndex,103)
The date in the CSV is in the following format:
2015-01-31 23:58:19
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Thanks in advance
AdamThis could be because of british/American date formats.
Try importing the following dates: -
2015-01-01
2015-01-02
2015-01-12
... and see if that works, then try importing 2015-01-13 and see if that works
Please click "Mark As Answer" if my post helped. Tony C. -

Convert Data type from Oracle Data time string to SQL Date time data type
I have a time stamp column pulled from oracle into a SQL server db table varchar datatype column.
Now i want to change that column to date time.
Following is the data present in the table:
01-APR-11 02.15.00.026000 AM -08:00
01-APR-11 04.15.00.399000 AM -08:00
01-APR-11 06.15.00.039000 AM -08:00
I want to convert this data into sql server datetime data type.
Please advice.
Thanks,
Sam.
I am unable to find the solution in other sites which is why I have posted it in Oracle forum for seeking solution.
Thanks in Advance.
Sam.Sam,
How are you actually loading the data into SQL*Server - are you using something like an Oracle gateway, BCP or another Microsoft utility of some sort ?
If you are using an Oracle problem then we may be able to help but if using a Microsoft utility then you should really follow up with Microsoft to know what format the data should be in to use a Microsoft utility.

Implicit Conversion from data type sql_variant to datetime is not allowed.
Getting a odd error. This code was working perfectly before a SQLServer upgrade.
The linked database is working, I'm able to pull up data from it in separate queries just fine.
I'm getting the following error.
Implicit conversion from data type sql_variant to datetime is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query.
Invalid column name 'TotalDay'. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)
can anyone spot the issue? I've tried sever variations of the same code, but still get the same thing.
If I put this section in a query by it self it works just fine.
( DATEDIFF(ss,
CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),( SELECT TOP ( 1 )
TimeDate
FROM [nav].AcsLog.dbo.EvnLog AS X3
WHERE UDF2 = E.No_
AND CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), X3.TimeDate, 101) = CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), @sdate, 101)
ORDER BY TimeDate ASC
),101),
CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),( SELECT TOP ( 1 )
TimeDate
FROM [nav].AcsLog.dbo.EvnLog AS X4
WHERE UDF2 = E.No_
AND CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), X4.TimeDate, 101) = CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), @sdate, 101)
ORDER BY TimeDate DESC
),101)) ) AS TotalDayBadge ,>ANDCONVERT(VARCHAR(10),X3.TimeDate,101)=CONVERT(VARCHAR(10),@sdate,101)
It is not a good idea to use string dates for predicates in WHERE clauses.
Use DATETIME or DATE in predicates.
If you are not interested in the time part of DATETIME, use DATE datatype.
Example:
SELECT CONVERT(DATE, getdate());
-- 2014-08-25

How to use the customer types in customer master data
how to use the customer types in customer master data?
menu path is Extras -> account group info -> customer typeshi,
This is an option given to you to choose (if you need to) the way you perceive this customer.Here you get options including ompetitors,Salespartner, prospect,
default sp ,consumer.
See it helps you to differentiate between prospect(which you may use for quotation or inquiry purpose)Sales partner and the competetor.
I hope this clarifies your quiery.Reward points if so.
Thanking you,

I have read some of the other posts for people that got this error, but none seem to apply to me.
My program has been working for weeks. I made some minor changes, and started getting the error (full details below).
I did a TFS "undo pending changes" and still getting the same error, even after logging off. The one odd thing is that I did change my Windows password this week. The connection string is using a SQL user id and password that has no issues.
I'm an Admin own my own box (running WIn XP SP3). I even tried "Run as Admin" on Visual Studio.
I'm doing a Debug-Start, running a Console-Test-Program that calls a WCF service, which on local machine is hosted by "ASP.NET Development Server".
We have two other developers, one has the same problem, one does not. In theory, we have all done "get latest" and are running the same code.
The SQL Connection is related to a trace database; we are using this library http://ukadcdiagnostics.codeplex.com which has worked fine for months.
When I do "Start Run" in Visual Studio, I get this error:
{"The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception. "}
with InnerException: {"The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnectionFactory' threw an exception."}
and it has InnerException: {"Requested registry access is not allowed. "}

I am also posting the web.config/app.config, but I would rather not focus on that since there were absolutely no changes to it between the time it was working and the time it began failing.

NealI think I found it... this is sure a strange error for what is really happening.
Apparently it had happened to me before, and fortuantely, I actually added the following comment:
// Above is related to the WCFLOG SQL Diagnostics Trace
// If you get error here an inner exception "requested registry access is not allowed"
// inside exception "type initializer for System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection"
// then make sure you have impersonation enabled in your client.
// See AdminConsole web.config or FRB.EC.AdminService.ConsoleTester.app.config for examples
Now I think I will do a try catch and spit out the same text.
Still testing to assure that this really was the issue.
<endpointBehaviors>
<behavior name="FRB.AllowImpersonate ">
<clientCredentials>
<windows allowedImpersonationLevel="Impersonation"/>
</clientCredentials>
</behavior>
</endpointBehaviors>
The line below in BOLD below is what somehow seemed to disappear from my app.config - probably due to a TFS human error - still checking that also:
<client>
<endpoint address="http://localhost:4998/AdminService.svc"
behaviorConfiguration="FRB.AllowImpersonate"
binding="wsHttpBinding"
bindingConfiguration="WSHttpBinding_IAdminService"
contract="svcRef.IAdminService"
name="WSHttpBinding_IAdminService">
<identity>
<dns value="localhost" />
</identity>
</endpoint>
</client>
Here's how I "idiot-proofed" this error for now, to give an error that actually at least points to a solution:
public SqlDataAccessCommand(string connectionString, string commandText, CommandType commandType)
try
_connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString);
// Above is related to the WCFLOG SQL Diagnostics Trace
// If you get error here an inner exception "requested registry access is not allowed"
// inside exception "type initializer for System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection"
// then make sure you have impersonation enabled in your client.
// See AdminConsole web.config or FRB.EC.AdminService.ConsoleTester.app.config for examples
catch (Exception ex)
if (ex.ToString().Contains("The type initializer for"))
throw new System.ApplicationException(@"
Your client app <endpoint> must be cofigured have a
'behaviorConfiguration' attribute like this:
behaviorConfiguration='FRB.AllowImpersonate'

", ex);
else
throw ex;

I recently subscribed to Adobe ExportPDF and tried to convert a PDF file to MS Word. So far, after many tries, I get soe type of error and the conversion fails. Please advise?
Hi there,
It sounds like there may be an issue with the quality of the PDF. Not all PDFs are created equal, and especially those created from scanned documents can be problematic if the scan quality isn't the best. Is there a dark background on the PDF, or stray marks or smudges?
You can try converting with OCR disabled at outlined in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. But, while that's a good test to find out where the problem lies, you'll end up with a Word document that isn't editable, so it's not an optimal solution.
Please let us know how it goes.

Dear Team,
Japanese characters alone are not passing correctly (passing like ??? or some unreadable characters) to Adobe application when we create input variable as XML data type. The same solution works fine if we change input variable data type to document type. Could you please do needful. Thank youHello,
most recent patches for IGS and kernel installed. Now it works. -
Dear,
I saved a document library containing folders and files as a template to use it as a template when I created a document library. It contains a lot of folders and files.
When I tried the document library to sync with workspace it gives an error "Data in this list references content type "", which is no longer in the list schema"
I checked with this error and I found out that it has issue with onenote file, but my library does not contain any onenote file.
I wonder if there is any issue regarding the number of folders to sync at a time because when I tried to sync with document library similar to the big library but lesser folders and files.
ThanksThis is caused by certain OneNote files. I've filed a support ticket on this. See my
post on possible workarounds. You might view the entire library in windows explorer or flatten the folder structure in a view to confirm that there are not any OneNote related files.

I'm Getting the "Could not connect to server: The type initializer for 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection' threw an exception" Error on an existing Instance of SSRS that had been working previously (lots of installs/patches since).
Any time I try to hit the "Test Connection" button on existing connections or create new ones from the SSRS Config Mgr., it throws that error.
I know the SQL Server connectivity works (I have SSMS installed on there and can cut and paste server Login to connect). The problem is I can't really get any more details on the error...Event Viewer isn't logging anything, I have upped the trace level
to 4 in the reportingservicesservice.config file, I have even watched it with procmon and nothing obvious pops up.
Let me know if anyone else has been down this path and what they have tried.Hi BillOlive,
Based on my research, the issue may be related to user access permission. You can refer to the following method to troubleshooting the issue:
Open C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG folder | right click on the machine.config file | Properties | Security | make sure your domain account has FULL CONTROL permission on this file.
If above steps still do not work, please backup your machine.config file to somewhere else and replace with the attached one from my Windows Server 2008 environment.
Alternatively, app.config file also may cause the same issue. There is a similar issue, you can refer to it.

Hope this helps.

Format of the mib data block ( MIB2-IP and MIB_TCP types)
Hi,
I am writing a c++ program to read IP and TCP mib data from the kernel.
Once I get MIB2-TCP and MIB2-IP data, I found that received data has
more than one structure worth of data. I am looking for a help to find
the exact format of the rcvd data. Also, is there a way to find the interface
owner of the MIB2-IP data.
Also it will be great, if someone can point to a document descring how mib
data interface is working.
Thanks in advance
