I know that most people on these forums couldn't do anything about my complaint but I suspect the people in Creative might dip in and have a read.
Back in February this year I bought the said speakers from Creative for just over ?85 ex VAT. Just seen that same speakers on the Creative web-shop selling for ?30 ex VAT. How does something reduce so much in 6 months? Feel somewhat miffed/cheated - could have bought 3 sets for what I paid in February.
Just a rant to get it off my chest and if Creative do read this I'd be intersted in what you have to say.

if u wanna change the skin of your touch you ll have to brake the warranty patch that is over a screw and with it end your warranty time.
for stuff that sticks over the case its alright
and yes there should be more accessories to this thing

Who out there wants a skin for their Creative Zen Touch? Who is tired of the monopoly that Vaja cases has and forces you to buy their horrific case for 70 Big Ones? What are the defects that occur in the Creative Zen produc

Hi! I am new to all these MP3 players (I am still stuck in the CD player era) but I have been wanting to upgrade to a new, high tech player. After researching for a LONG time (I have considered the Creative Zen micro, Creative Zen Micro photo, Ipod mini, Ipod Nano, 4th gen Ipod, Cowan Iaudio, Olympus M:Robe500i, and Archos Gimini 402) I have concluded with the Creative products, that unlike the Ipods, have more features for the same price or lower. I briefly thought about the IAudio and the Archos since they play movies but decided that they were too expensi've. Plus, it having a removable battery was enticing since do not li've int he United States and I wouldn't have to be sending things in for repair or replacement of battery.
Now, I was very pumped about the Zen Micro but have since learned that there are a few defects.
the Creative Zen micro, from what I gathered, has a problem that the player stops working and only boots up to the Creative logo. I think I understand that this comes from something disconnecting from the HD inside. ANOTHER problem seems to be the earphone jack breaking and being pushed in.
I want to know if this is fixed in any of the versions of the Zen Micros. I think I heard that the 5GB ones are the ones that do this. If anything, i would get the 6 GB version and would like to know if the 6GB Zen Micros do this. It is at Best Buy for $50 plus tax ($60+ total).
I am also considering ordering the Zen Micro Photo (though it costs $40 bucks more just for color) form Best Buy ($202 total). Does the Zen Micro Photo fix the problems of the past players? Does it have any new defects?
Another player I am interested in is the Zen Sleek, which is the same price of the Zen Micro Photo, but has 2 GB more (though I don't really need it). It doesn't have color but whatever. Does this player have any of the previous defects or any defects at all? Can I use it to transfer files, like the the Micros can (I assume the Micro Photo can also) without having to install software on a PC (like the whole partition thing from the Micros). Does it have a removable Battery?
ANY HELP would be appreciated. I am a very cautious buyer and I do not want to hassle with stuff. I li've in the Dominican republic and I do NOT want to go shipping stuff overseas to get it fixed. That is why I am buying a Zen product, since it has removable Batteries and I don't have to send it in to get replaced. I do not want to spend 00 bucks and 3 months of waiting for things.

Not sure about being pushed in, but the solder connection on some Micros was too weak and easily broken.

No-one knows for sure if it was fixed. Creative Support didn't confirm or deny it had been fixed on the board here. Others have had emails from Creative saying that it has been fixed in newer players.

People say the sound quality isn't as great as past players, and there is some slight noise when the backlight is turned on. Aside from not being able to view photos and listen to music at the same time. Search back for reviews by other folks.

The Sleek seems to be a great player. I don't recall seeing any common issues with it.

It doesn't have a removable battery.
It has the MTP/PFS firmware that means you can only use it to copy audio files with Win XP.
It has the USB mass storage function that means you can copy data files to it with Win 98/Me/2000 and XP.
Also, on any defect, what seems to be the percentage? I know creative has not acknowledged any defects but there obviously are, since things happen to the same product, the same way, the same place.

Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 editi

Hello, I recently bought a Zune and then found out it wasn't compatible with my OS, XP Pro x64. I installed the software on my laptop, but it was just too troublesome to set everything up and exchange music, videos, etc. between the two machines. So I've decided to return the Zune and get a Zen instead. I'd really like to buy the ZEN 8GB, but it does not state whether or not the x64 edition is supported. The ZEN V Plus states that the software does support the OS, so if I have to get that one, I don't mind. Thanks.

CRe: Is the Creative ZEN compatible with Windows XP Pro x64 edition?H I recently bought a Zen 8GB mp3 player. I have an xp x64 pro OS. As soon as I tried to instal the included software from the CD, a dialogue box appeared stating, "The windows operating system running on this computer is not supported by this product." I have done everything the technical assistance group has suggested with the samed result including a clean install. I did load it on my 32 bit laptop. It works fine. ONe of the problems I have found is that the correspondance goes to a different person each time and they are not reading the dialogue. I have found a way to make it work (well somewhat) with my 64 bitg machine. Oddly enough thed software for my zen V load on fine but the software is incampatable with the Zen 8GB unit. I think that there are softwarfe problems and CT is not really dealing with them.

I heard alot of horror stories about creative zen micros freezing and the headphone jacks are not working so I want ask your opinion is the creative zen micro a good bye or a cheap urelieable mp3 player. I agree with Kerndrone. People come here mostly to look for solutions to their problems. This constitutes a lot to the negati've talk. Also,how many would purposely come into a forum just to praise a player?
ipods aren't great either. I feel that they are just an overpriced piece of gadget with very few features - whatever the zen has, the ipods doesn't (i.e. FM radio/recorder,voice recorder, simple organiser) .On the other hand, whatever the ipod has, the zen also has (with the exception of games, which i think is dumb. An audio player, as its name suggests, it for the purpose of AUDIO, some SIMPLE games? it's so dumb, i'll rather play my mobile phone's, which has color, and nicer to view.)
Further, the Zen comes with much more accessories than the ipods - velvet pouch, craddle + stand + belt clip + charger + USB cable + earphones. ipods don't come with chargers, i think. The charger is pretty expensi've S$69, and the earphones cost S$49 if bought separately.

Let's face it. THe creative zen touch needs something to protect it. I found Creative's skin as protecti've but not truly portable. THe other one from vaja just costs too much. I think we should start a petition for iSkin to create a skin.

I had the exact same thing happen. I turned my player on one day not having dropped it and the screen is all distorted so to speak. In addition, now when i turn it on its not recognized by the creative media player.

Menu Lag/Slowdown on the Creative Zen 32gb??

Hey guys,
So I recently bought a Creative Zen 32gb and for the most part it is GREAT!
The only problem I have noticed with it so far is a noticeable slowdown or lag when browsing around the menus. By this, I mean that for instance scrolling up and down on the main menu, things will stagger and stutter and simply not flow smoothly as I navigate around. The same thing happens when I browse over album covers and suchlike in the music menu. The problem is heightened when music is playing, adding to the slowdown.
So has anyone else experienced this problem? Or is this just standard with the Zen? More importantly, how can i fix it's!?!

Why Does the Creative ZEN freeze so mu

If Creative is going to have the negligence to deny their customers a quality product, then the the least they could do, is make an external, easily accessed reset button. Not some mysterious switch in a tiny pin hole. It seems like I must always be carrying around a safety pin, either that or constantly be scanning the ground for a sharp twig. Their advice to not stick anything sharp into the reset hole is ridiculous. What else could fit into it's Whenever I turn on the player or switch songs, I have to cross my fingers. From reading some of the posts here, it looks like this is a very common issue. If Creative is going to have the negligence to deny their customers a quality product, then the the least they could do, is include some sort of reset stick that's included with the package. After an attempt to remedy the 'frozen screen problem' with a bent staple, the only thing that changed is the sound of something rattling around inside the Zen. My experience with this MP3 player, and the other Zen I had before it, certainly was not worth the price of this product. If the customer service is as bad as the people in these forums say... then this is going to make a wonderful gift for my trash can.

Recharging the Creative Zen Touch via

Hello Users,
since I upgraded to Vista, I also needed to install the new PlaysForSure-Firmware on my Creative Zen Touch. Afterwards I was unable to recharge the battery via USB. I connect the player as usual but the little loading symbol on the screen won't show up and even after 2 or more hours of waiting, the battery didn't recharge. I also already tried resetting the player.
Is there any way to fix that problem without buying a new recharge-cable. The battery is empty right now and it is not possible to start the player.

If you mean the power adapter, then I would/can only recommend the official ones. If others want to recommend or point to unofficial ones that is okay, but we do not support those and have not tested them.
The cable you use to connect to the PC is a standard USB to mini-USB cable, you should be able to get that in any electronics/computer store.
When you connect the player to the PC, is there any sign that it is recognised? Does it show up in the Device Manager?

Does the Creative Zen Work like any other external hard dri

I am looking to buy a Creative Zen Sleek or Touch and need to know something. Do you need to use the software and drivers with it or does XP recognize it as a "removeable disk" like a flash dri've or like the ipod.

I'm guessing that WMP will work with the player irrespecti've of the firmware version.
I'm not sure where you bought your player, but in Europe they seem to have shipped with one version, whereas in the USA they seem to have shipped with another to support PlayForSure subscription downloads.
Perhaps a mod can confirm this, and whether Europe will get the PlayForSure firmware if this is the case?

Won't reformatting the Creative Zen Micro constantly kill it? Especially with the beta firmwa

I have just been the victim of "sudden audio player death syndrome" my iri'ver h0 bit the dust two weeks after I bought it... I have the same fears about my creative zen micro, as I fear that these micro dri'ves are less durable than full size hard disks and more succeptible to failure. I really was scared to format it once. And I asked the question earlier... but I would like some more replies, do you have to reformat the dri've every month to renew subscription tracks on napster to go... does anybody have experience with the service and the player, maybe for a couple of months that could tell me?

I have the Micro as well as the Seagate Pocket Dri've, a standalone version of the S dri've that's in the Micro. I've owned the latter for about fi've months now. Both of them take a fair share of abuse: the Seagate dri've travels in my backpack or pocket every day to and from work. The Micro is strapped on my arm fi've times a week as I do my daily jog. Both have yet to show any signs of damage. I also reformatted my Micro dri've about 0-2 times when I first got it (I had problems that I thought were caused by the firmware but, as it turns out, were caused by my USB card).

Hi, I get sometimes the same problem, try to turn on in recovery mode & clean up:
Go to www.creative.com -> support -> knowledge base ->and select you player, & search: "Recovery Mode: What to Do And How To Access"
& follow the instructions.
I cleaned up my player, but this action erased my songs. So,back up your files before do this.

Hooking up Creative Zen to Speaker sys

I want to hook my Creative Touch Zen to a speaker system, how do I go about doing this.
I have about $00 to spend doing so, can anyone recommend a set of speakers/amplifier that would do this for me?

Your in luck. I want to do the same and looking EVERYWERE and emailing and pm EVERYONE lol...From reliabale sources the new itrigue speakers have a built in amp and an aux port so you can hook ur player up and not need a standalone amp.
