The cursor has changed to a dot with a circle around it; how can I get my normal cursor back?

The cursor in the main part of Firefox has changed to a dot with a circle around it. This only occurs in Firefox and only in the page display area. I still have the arrow in the tool bar and tabs area. When moving the cursor around in the display area the dot/circle is accompanied by a blinking arrow.

It's the quicktime plug-in causing the problem. If you disable it, your cursor will return to normal. Happened to me, and fixed it by doing that.

Thanks sberman ... unfortunately that option is & has been unticked. It has happened to me two or three times but my memory ain't what it used to be so I can't recall the exact circumstances. It went away by itself this morning after an overnight shutdown so I don't think it can be a "preferences" item. Only thing I had to do this morning was to change trackpad batteries. Maybe low batt power was the cause? Interestingly before I posted the query here, I was searching all over the net for a similar problem and could not find even one related post or comment anywhere. And this post has 53 views with only your reply so maybe it is a spurious / unique problem? I'll leave the post for now as the problem seemed to have fixed itself and if it happens again, I will re-try everything first, including checking batteries. Somehow I thought mnaybe I had hit a keyboard shortcut in error but I can't find any reference at all to this kind of behaviour. Wierd!! But thanks very much for your reply!!

Yes, that's correct, it won't affect your account or your devices in any way.
Use the delete account button in the iCloud settings.
Then enter her iCloud details in the new screen that appears and log in. She should then be returned to the screen above but with her Apple ID at the top, enable the services she wishes to use and then tap the storage & backup option and ensure that iCloud backup is turned on.

Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID.

Ok this is bizzare!
Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :(

I create separate folders based on the year and then the actual date of when I take images. You can make those folders anywhere on any hard drive that is connected to your Mac whether internal or external. I also use the Photoshop Photo Downloader that is included with Photoshop/Bridge and it will create the date folder so all I do is create a Year folder.
Open Bridge or click on the Bridge icon in PS and in the File menu item in Bridge select "Get photos from Camera". It can be a camera connected to your Mac or a memory card from a camera. A window will open and you then select the camera or memory card. Set the location they will be downloaded to, just the folder and you can Browse to a folder that you created, then in the "Create Subfolders drop down select what date stamp you want to use or or custom name or not to create subfolders at all.
I've never cared for iPhoto one bit. I tried it but found it way to restrictive. It likes to have full control over how you interact with your images.

If you don't have a backup then the only possible solution is to go back to the store and see if they can get your old phone and create a backup of that. I know very often that Apple employees will wipe the returned iPhones clean before shipping them back to wherever they ship them.
When you say your old phone was "broken" does this mean it is dead and won't turn on?
Do you have a Time Machine backup of your computer, or a clone that might have this info on it?
Other than that I hate to say you may be out of luck. Time Machine and/or a cloning program performed regularily will inevitably save your a** in situations like this.
