The Daily App Updated...

The Daily started out a little rocky, but since the update today it's now running smooth. If anyone decides to update, your better off deleting the current App, and then download it again from the App store.

it was suggested that the App be deleted first then installed first, but i updated without deleting and the upgrade was was taking forever and seem to update each section at a time. So i stopped the upgrade, deleted the App, and reinstalled it which took a few moments.
My app kept crashing when updating a new issue each morning and sometimes crashing when viewing sections and/or surfing pages. After the new INSTALL this morning, my surfing the new issue was flawless and smooth, watching all the videos was switching pages was errorless.
I could only see this App excelling with additions to its issues.

     After reading your post I launched the social app and it said it was automatically updated to version 1.2.157.
     If yours doesn't auto update then you could try manually updating by launching social, goto options and press Update service.
     By the way I'm in England so maybe the update hasn't reached the states yet.

    Adobe has a big Cloud announcement scheduled for 1pm EDT, so maybe LR 5.5 will be available at that point.

    You don't have to update if you don't want to, but if you do you'll need to purchase, yes.

  • The Daily App -- "not logged in" and "cannot connect to itunes store"

    I subscribed to the Daily App for 1 year. It shows under my itunes subscription.
    Two problems: When I log into the daily app, I get "Can't connect to itunes store" 2 or 3 times. I can just hit ok and they'll go away.
    The second, and more annoying, is that when I do the crossword puzzle, I don't see anything on the leaderboard and at the bottom, below the puzzle, it says "not logged-in." But when I click the little settings thing, I am logged in. I'm able to comment on articles.
    Any ideas?
    I've rebooted, restored from backup, reinstalled the app.

    I have the same issue, I've tried the following and nothing has worked:
    I am running the newest version of The Daily, iTunes version 10.2.1, Mac OS 10.6.7 on my MBA and iPad 4.3.1. I've deleted The Daily from both the iPad 2 and the Mac, rebooted both and reinstalled with no luck, it still gave me the same error message that it could not connect to iTunes. I then did a full restore with no luck. I just completed erasing everything on the iPad, deleted all of the iPad apps from my MBA and set up the iPad as a new iPad not using anything from my old setup, still no luck. I am still getting the same error message: "iTunes Error Cannot connect to iTunes".
    When I go into account Information it does not recognize my email and password even though I reset it in iTunes. Everything else on the iPad works with that email and password including all the other paid apps I reinstalled trying to fix this issue.

    I can't purchase The Daily App after the 14 day free trial it gives me the following error code.  We were unable to process your purchase because we encountered the following error:  Cannot connect to the iTunes Store.  Please try subscribing again by going to Subscription Offer in the settings menu.  The app does show up and indicates that it is installed I can't figure out what is going on........any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
    1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
    open the Terminal application.
    copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
    defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    followed by Enter.
    launch App Store, login.
    2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
    3 - launch App Store, login and try again.

    The page in the App Store for The Daily says "PLEASE DELETE YOUR CURRENT APP BEFORE INSTALLING THIS UPDATE."
    Does anyone know why this is requested? Or what will happen if you don't do it? (The app installs in any case.)

    Why would she have saved it? And why have her searching for it? To prove what, exactly?
    All I know is, I did both. Applied the update, immediately saw that I still had the extensive black screen as it was loading, so quit out of and deleted it. After getting a fresh copy, it was clearly and immediately improved.

    The last days the app update is behaving very strange. One moment there are no updates, then suddenly there are 8 but iTunes cannot find them. And at this moment, there are 41 updates being downloaded while 5 minutes ago there were none. What's going one?

    That explains why I am no longer able to clear the recent history list...
    I understand that removing/deleting the files from my device will remove the files from my list. However this in not ideal for me, as I would like to be able to go back and look at the papers that I have previously read and then be able to clear the recent list. Also, if I can clear the list without removing the files from my device, I can keep track of what I have recently read, and move those files into a second folder on my device to say that I have read the papers at least once. That way I would still have the papers on my device but can clear the list and know that I have read the papers. Thus I really would like a way to clear your history from the recents list, ideally with the option of clearing individual files from the list, as well as a second option to clear all files from the recent list, while retaining the original files on the device.

  • How often are the maps in the Maps app updated?

    The Maps app couldn't locate a 2 well known stores right off of the highway that have existed for well over a year, possibly 2.  The location is seen in the iOS 5 Maps, but there's nothing but an empty location in the iOS 6 app.  How frequently are locations updated?!

    The satellite imagery on Apple Maps shows that whole area as undeveloped woods.   Google shows a brand new building with the nearby streets.
    Use the "Report a Problem" button on the Maps to inform Apple of the required update.

    The problem is exactly what it says. Every time I open itunes, I have to update the exact same apps. Sometimes I get download errors, other times downloads complete, but then the next time I open itunes, I have to re update everyting.

    One is iOS version and the other Mac OSX version.
    Yes.You have to buy it again for Mac.

    Please update your Mac OS X version. The MAS will not run on a Mac with less than 10.6.6, so you ASC profile is very out of date.
    That is a bug in the MAS. Hopefully it will get fixed in the MAS that comes with Lion. Look at the linked threads to the right under More Like This and you can get some ideas of what others have tried to get rid of the issue. Some work for some folks, some do not.

  • IMovie 10.0.7 is the worst app 'update' ever

    After producing about 100 movies on the previous version of iMovie, which was intuitive and not at all difficult to figure out, in comes iMovie 10.0.7 and it's a programmer's dream: it's elegant, with a sexy skin AND IT IS UTTERLY USELESS.
    Any upgrade should NOT require a 100% re-learn. I don't have HOURS to re-learn a program that was perfectly useful and not in need of an "upgrade" other than to provide employment for programmers.
    I cannot figure out how to use it—and I've edited video, and 35MM film on everything from a Moviola to a KEM flatbed. It rates an "F" for FAILURE.
    I was at an event and needed to edit and publish a movie. I was UNABLE to do anything with it on 10.0.7. Fortunately I'd kept the earlier version and easily edited and posted the movie. 10.0.7 is JUNK.

    I agree entirely. That update was apparently for those who have lots of devices and want a quick and easy share of photos/movies and who don't mind using iCloud. However we who don't need iCloud and enjoyed using a single computer  for archiving/accessing our personal photos and making family movies are now frustrated without resolve. I can no longer even access photos for Word documents (to make cards, letters). "Photos" does not show up in the media browser/panes. Just "Photo Booth", and who needs that useless application? I still used iMovie 9 until recently, when I updated and suddenly iPhotos became Photos and I can no longer access photos for a variety of projects. The new iMovie 10.07 won't let you burn a DVD plus it's difficult to use.  I hate what Mac has done to what formerly was a fun and useful product. Trying to get answers to my questions from support has been impossible. Not going to pay them to tell me I need to buy a different kind of software, which I probably will have to do.
