The default type size in Pages is too small - can I permanently size is larger? Thank you.

When you say the default font size, is this set by the template you use for a new document? If so, create your own. Open a blank template, set the font size, and Save as Template... with a new name.
In Pages > Preferences > General > For new Documents > Use Template.
Choose your template. When you open Pages, it will open that template.
File > New will also open that template.
The font of a document from someone else has been set by the author of that document. You will have to change it.
Also, have a look at View > Zoom. Perhaps the font is not small, but your view of the page is small.

Clips from JVC Everio camcorders have always had this problem with Premiere Elements (all versions). You need to select Interpret Footage.

Or use this program (SDCopy) to download the video's from the cam, it will allow you to copy straight from the cam to your PC and auto renames and corrects the aspect ratio.

Keynote is programmed to execute all of the effects in a build sequence before it will move to the next slide.
If you want tobe able to move to the next slide at any time in a sequence of builds, you will need to set all of the builds on that slide to: "on click". You will then need to execute each build by pressing the space bar or click the left mouse button for each object.

Default text size in Compressor is too small for normal human eye

Is there any way to change the text size in Compressor 4 in the windows? I can't find any.
The normal default text size is way too small for any normal human being eye to read clearly.

Well, guess we folk with not-too-good vision will simply have to keep on trucking the best we can, eh? We can't enlarge text, so as a result we can't use software like Compressor like the rest of the population. Sad to say, especially with a company like Apple . . .
Yeah, well I gave the Apple Compressor Team my feedback, just like I've done the last 3 months with other things, then of course the feedback from us all melts into the either, and we never really know if anyone reads it, like they say. Font size Elements 12 way too small - how to enlarge the font?

Windows 8.1 and Elements 12. The font in Elements is so small I can hardly see it, much less use it. I've tried everything I can think of and I cannot get the font any larger. Any ideas??? This is crazy!

That is the actual size of your image file. 48 x 38 is very small.
That is not a Bridge or Photoshop problem.
It is a very small image and you cannot enlarge it more than x 1.5.
If you want a large photo you must ask for it from whoever gave it to you, or take a bigger photo if it is yours.

How do I alter the display on my macbook pro so that the font size isnt so small. On a pc I would ajust the display properties to do this but I cant find an optio for this on my new macbook pro (retina display)

Go to System Preferences>Displays and set the 'scaled' option to whatever suits you best. You won't have 'Retina' quality, but you can enlarge what you're viewing.

Thank you for responding. After investigating and checking further, it was clear that only one of your suggestions changes the font size of the list of emails, also called the In-box. And that is the display resolution.
However, changing the display resolution affects the dots per inch of everything, everywhere and makes it larger.
Given the high end fee Apple charges for their products, and the generally well developed software they provide, it is hard to imagine they have not corrected this obvious slight of effort on the inbox text. At times Apple's "one-size-fits-all" and "it's our way or no way" mentality astounds me and makes me want to run back to Microsoft.
Evidently this is a well known mistake, which has yet to receive any attention.

When adding a new contact in address book, I want the default for display to be last, first. How can I make that the default?

I want names displayed in my address books in a formal manner:
Jones, Fred
Nixon, Jay
Smith, Gertrude
and I would prefer that display be created in that manner when I enter first and last names.

These are the selection button just under the window where you enter what you are searching for and above the "Google Search" button. They used to be there but have disappeared!

I have to second this problem - everything on my 27" iMac is tiny!
The status bar, the top bar in any window - all text is minute...
In Safari I can zoom in (though the double tap to auto zoom on a page is gone).
The font size now mirrors my brain size for "upgrading" too soon yet again ~:o(

Default paper size in page setup

I have 3 different printers, each with specific paper sizes. My HP C3180 uses letter size only. My HP Officejet pro K850 uses tabloid (ledger) size only. My Toshiba e-studio 20s has a tray for letter and another for tabloid. My problem is that when I set the default paper size in page setup, it changes the paper size for all three printers! How do I set a different default paper size for each individual printer?

Thanks. I'm really disappointed that apple had to dumb-down Leopard. It really makes it difficult to use my macs in the office. I hate to say it, but score one for the PC on this one. I'm really frustrated, and this will definitely affect future purchases (Apple, did you hear that?)

Open a new blank document from Template Chooser. Set the font and anything else you want as your standard, then File > Save As Template.
Then in Pages > Preferences > General > For new documents > Use Template > Choose
Then when you open Pages from the Dock (or LaunchPad if your system has that) you will get a blank document based on that template. Same when you go to File > New (command n)
