The deinterlace and high quality settings

Hi !
I've seen the options "deinterlace" and "high quality" for the video track in the sequence properties from "window" of Quicktime.
Does anyone know what they do exactly ?

Open Automator.
Click once on the word QuickTime in the "Library" (left most pane).
Drag the "Set Movie Playback Properties" (Action pane) to the right side part of the window.
Set your parameters and save the workflow and an Application.
Drag your QuickTime files onto this Application (one at a time or as a group) and they will be converted.

That's why I have never bothered to conduct such a test. A complete waste of time, in my opinion.
I would not put it that way because it always interesting to what extend users like to go or come up with for testing
But in basic, yes you are right. If you need such extreme test to proof the theory wrong the practice still is a winner. If you can't see it with your own eyes it is not really important but to fill an academic paper. In real life neither you, nor the customer or viewer would notice any difference
According to the discussion about jpeg vs Raw, of course Raw has a ton of benefits above jpeg. Personally I almost never shoot jpeg but I do know people that do to satisfaction.
Suppose you are a sports photographer and need both speed in writing to the card as in post process etc. You are working under know and solid light conditions and have measured your wight balance and set it manual. This provides very good qualities (that is if you have set the jpeg quality to high or max in camera) and shot with a recent good dSLR it produces files that can be published without problems on a magazine spread.
I can't see disadvantage for such situations. However, you have to be aware that for future use your options are still limited when deciding to change post processing. Color temperature, exposure etc etc are far more flexible with Raw then jpeg.
The vast majority of my clients want jpeg and that is what I convert to when files are ready. Yet I keep my original DNG and PSD file.
Especially the archived Raw (in my case since 2008 converted DNG from CR2 files) is important. I can't tell you how surprise I am every time I open a raw file from 10 years ago in todays Raw converters. They have been improved very much and are able to get more out of your old files then you ever could imagine.
And to finish with an other plus side of Raw. If you need to enlarge old and new raw files to huge billboards you will discover that the results of the Raw are far more superior

IT will print in COLOR and high quality print but would like to conserve ink (Esp. Coloured )

Grainy subtitles and credits in Professional Quality and High Quality mode

I need some serious help. Last year I did a movie which came out perfectly fine on my iMovie HD 08' version.
This year I just did a movie on iMovie 09' because I could not find iMovie 08', and to my surprise when I burn it on iDVD the subtitles and captions come out grainy, or in lower quality (the words are a bit cracked on the corners and edges) and I can't seem to fix it.
I tried everything:
Sharing project with iDVD - quality settings Professional and High
Exporting on HD quality to iDVD and burned on Double Layer disc w/Professional and High quality
That's four different tries and 2 days of rendering. I'm going crazy here and don't know what else to do to make the video look just like it looks in iMovie - with high quality and no grainy subtitles. Even the picture slideshow looks a bit degraded when burned from iDVD.
The entire project is 95 minutes in total. Please help!!! I need to deliver this DVD to a client next week. Thank you very much.

Try reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

I had the same problem after an upgrade to 3.6.3.
I was using password manager for a number of web sites before. Not using cookies but password manager.
After 3.6.3 auto upgrade it did not work.
I could not enter private browsing mode.
When I looked in tools>options>security at my saved passwords the list was blank. The button in the saved passwords dialog that normally says "Show saved passwords" was actually blank (the button was there but there was no text on it).
I did have my old bookmarks and was able to create new ones but oddly the bookmark all tabs menu function wouldn't work.
I decided to reinstall firefox 3.6.3. There is no way something with that many bugs got out!
I was able to get the full firefox executable from http://mozilla.com
I closed all firefox windows and ran the installation.
After re-running the install and starting firefox everything was fine. It must have been a bad download or the original install got messed up somehow.
I hope you have the same good fortune I had!

How to improve the screen and audio quality on my Satellite c655-s5132

I recently bought a used Satellite C655-S5132 laptop. Although this machine is designed to run on Windows 7, it came equipped with Windows XP. The machine runs OK except for the screen which shows a distorted image and the sound which is tinny and low volume.
I suspect this is due to a software shortcoming rather than a defect in any of the hardware. The image distortion may be due to the fact that this laptop comes with a wide screen with an aspect ratio of 6:9, whereas the Windows XP operating system that is currently installed on this laptop is set at an aspect ratio of 4:3 and doesn't allow me to switch to the other aspect ratio.
As a result, the image fills the entire screen but appears to be stretched horizontally. As for the audio, I checked the volume settings and they are all set at their upper limit.
I have done the following:
1. I did a system check which shows that there are 2 drivers that need to be updated: video controller and video controller (VGA compatible). But when I prompt the machine to install updated drivers it gives me a failure code 28 "device not installed properly".
2. I ran 2 driver software programs: one shows that for both video controllers "the manufacturer is unknown" and "drivers are not installed", and the second shows that the driver is installed but needs to be updated.
3. Searched the web for the right drivers and found that for this machine running on Windows XP (32 bit), Intel produces a graphic driver, GMA 4500.
4. I tried to download this driver from the Intel website but the installation process failed. Perhaps it failed because Toshiba has specified a custom version of this graphic driver that can only be downloaded from its own website.
5. I searched the Toshiba website but was unable to identify the drivers for sound and image for this machine.
Could anyone help me find the right drivers on the Toshiba website that would allow me to: (i) change the setting for the aspect ratio and in doing so get rid of the image distortion, as well as improve the overal picture quality, and (ii) increase the audio volume and improve the overall sound quality?

My advice is to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents using Toshiba recovery media. All the drivers and utilities are properly preinstalled. Windows is preactivated.

Indesign cc export pdf presets for Press Quality and High Quality Print are missing.

I no longer have the options for Press Quality or High Quality Print in exporting a PDF. Is that intentional? Can I get them back?

The first thing to try is repalcing the preferences and restarting the computer. See Replace Your Preferences

Removing the Hall and high pitched reverb

Hey all,
I need to edit the sound qaulity of three or four clips in adobe audition cc. They all have a large hall sound to them and I want to change that to be more close up as if your in a small room with the person. I tried many things such as reverb however since the audio starts off in a large room, removing that with reverb has no effect.
Secondly there is a high pitched reverb that is about .2 of a second delayed and is quite noticeable. I have gone into the spectral pitch display but I can't seem to isolate the high pitched reverb.

I'm afraid that you simply can't 'edit sound quality'. The nature of what you record is determined entirely by the space you record in, and how you place the microphone relative to the speaker and space. At this point, you're effectively baking a cake - can't be unbaked. Even if you use reverb reduction, you will still end up with a more 'distant' sound, because you won't have eliminated what's known as the 'early reflections'. What happens then is that you have a sound that appears to have been recorded in a more reverberant space, but without the reverb. And that sounds completely unnatural. I've listened to your sample and it already sounds somewhat 'processed'. Is this the raw sound? If it is, you're completely stuffed, and should leave it alone, because the only things you can do will make it sound even worse.

I am downloading a digital album and i have to choose between apple lossless, flac, and high quality mp3. i am using itunes and i have a pc running windows 7 does that make a difference?

Go with Apple Lossless. It will play readily in iTunes vs. FLAC. You can convert it later to mp3 if you wish but you cannot convert mp3 to ALE or FLAC and get back the quality that was lost. You can also convert ALE to FLAC if you need to.

Ipad mini users only. Did the ios 7 upgrade diminish the camera and picture quality?

I recently upgraded my ipad mini from ios 6 to ios 7 and I still trying to get used to the new interface. However my confidence was shaken when i stumbled upon several internet posts claiming a diminishing in the quality of the pictures taken with the ipad mini especially in outside conditions. My plans to get buy an ipad with ios 6 on it were about to get scrapped but the post and complains i read online are making me reconsider them again. I would appreciate if a fellow ipad mini user share his or her upgrading experience with me so i can make an intelligent decision. Please i would truly appreciate non partial, thoughtful opinions, not fan boy/girl type of advice. Thanks

I haven't noticed any deterioration on ipad mini's at all. In fact i think it's almost seems better on ios 7 due to software enhancements.
In all fairness though, why are you using an ipad mini for taking photos.
Its not bad camera it's just there are much better out there.

I cannot access my gmail. I follow the instructions to click on the menu and then on settings, but there is not a setting icon.

I have a new computer. I cannot access some of my sites, such as gmail. The instructions that I keep getting are to click on the chrome menu and then select settings. When I click on the menu, I cannot find an icon for settings. I have tried everything I can think of to no avail. Nothing works!

What happens if you try to open https://mail.google.com/ ? Do you get a "page not found" error, or a security certificate error, etc.?
Firefox has a "3-bar" menu similar to Google Chrome, and you should find Options there, but if you have instructions for the Chrome settings page, they aren't going to match Firefox's Options dialog...

My iPhone 6 will not show battery percentage at all and keeps vibrate on even when manually turned off and yes I have reset the phone and reset network settings and restored, update etc etc

My iPhone 6 just went funny. It will not show the batter percentage anymore and the alerts are coming through vibrating even when I have switched them off. Please help! :-(

To turn battery percentage back on: Settings>General>Usage>Battery Percentage --switch on.

Download speed for videos and high quality videos

Hi everyone...!!! I've just ran the speedtest app on both my I pad and I pod touch and the results are the same. Download is 1.72 Mbps and upload is 0.57 Mbps. I'm guessing that this is pretty poor and is the reason a HD video on you tube takes ages to load and freezes after the film is started?? Work pays for my broadband but I would gladly pay for my own if that would enable me to get a faster connection and better downloading speeds??? Is this the case??? I presume u r on 3g at those figures. My ADSL on iPad is 12 mps down and around 0.8 up BUT like others here streaming is still slow, as is browsing. I have tried everything here and I do mean everything. It's been 6 weeks now since 4.2.1 was 'let loose' and personally I've had enough. My analogy is I bought a 'car' to commute on a highway at 110kph and after its first service it now does 40kph and the service dpt wont return my calls for help. I have tried servicing it my self, changed oil, rotated tyres etc all of which were vain attempts, heck I've even BLAMED THE BOWSER the fuel comes out of.
Well if my iPad was a car I know what I would be doing. Take it back and have it replaced???? not when I know the same model has the same issue. If it were a car I would be saying "mate I'll walk to work till the new model comes out". I know this is a rant but I have had enough. I will include my latest service attempt tip and perhaps this post wont be deleted.
The following tip helped somewhat .... I am now up to 48kph.
Set router to Wireless G only.  Set Router to WPA2 only. (make sure you dont have any old devices) (WPA2 is the most secure, and uses AES encyrption which has no overhead or slow down on your data) Set router to Manual channel selection, then pick channel 6, I actually found 3 slightly better, see if it helps, if not go back and select channel 11, if not then put it back on automatic. Go to router toolbox and then turn off Extended security which is found in UpNp settings  Also try turning browsing interception off (its normally in the configuration page).

HT1933 when i play my purchased movies in HD there the audio and video quality is poor

I have purchased movies in HD but when i try to play them the audio skips and there is skipping in the video as well. However i also have a few movies in Sd and they do not have these problems. However even though the computer im using is not a MAC is an extremely nice Asus with a 4th gen I5 and supports HD video playback. Anyone know what to do I tried to get help from apple and they scheduled me a phone call two weeks from now? some help right?!

JMF doesn't support "Ubuntu 8.04 and MAC OS 10.5", it only supports Redhat and Solaris (and Windows 9X or NT 4.0)
