The document is invalid.

Can't open Numbers '08 files in Numbers '09. I'm getting *'The document (file name) is invalid'. The index.xml file is missing.*

It may be true but it may be false.
Next time take care to apply the major law for computer users:
backup, backup, backup …
This doesn't mean replicate three times the late copy.
It means keep a replicate of what yo save AND keep several consecutive old versions.
The absolute minimal protocol is to check the box "Back up previous version when saving" in the Preferences dialog.
Attach your odd file to a mail and send them to my mailbox.
I would check if there is a way to recover the beast.

  • Numbers 09 not working - I can open the program but only a few files are available, missing blank, checklist and many others. e.g  when I click on a file I get this error: The document "nmbtemplate is invalid. The index.xml file is missing. help.

    Please let me know what I can do to get my Numbers (iWork 09) working properly again.
    Here is what is going on:
    Numbers in iWork 09 not working can't access Blank, Checklist and many other files within Numbers.   I can open the program but only a few files are available. When I click on the file (which also has no icon just the name of the file) this warning appears:
    The document "Blank.nmbtemplate" is invalid.  The index.xml file is missing.
    I recently had to get a new hard drive installed and had the system upgraded and more memory put in by a Mac certified specialist recommended to me from the Apple store in Northbrook because this was the 3rd time my drive went bad but this time it was to old (I got the IMAC- in 2007) and the Apple store could no longer work on it this time so they recommended a few places that had certified Mac specialists.  Since then Numbers is not working right.
    I'm sure it's something simple to fix, but I've tried re installing it and that didn't work.  Appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

    I am trying to insert HTML form parameters into database using <xsql:insert-request>. It worked fine except that it displays <xsql-status action="xsql:insert-request" rows="1"/> after it inserts the data into the database. I am trying to follow the insertnewsform example in Steve's book "building oracle xml applications" to return user a thank-you note. Here is my problem:
    I have four files:

    faqfeed.xsql
    request-to-faq.xsl (used as transform for faqfeed.xsql)

    Do the XSQL Demos work correctly on your system?
    The error you're getting seems like maybe the *.xsql extension is not mapped properly to the oracle.xml.xsql.XSQLServlet class in your servlet engine.

  • Invalid at the top of the document error with fnd output

    I am using oracle standard of writing xml to the output directory using fnd_file.put_line(fnd_file.output,'<xxxxxx>'). On a rather random basis I am getting the following error when trying to open the output file. I specified utf8 in the first line of the xml file i produce. The xml is fine but tacks on an invalid character at the end of the file. If I remove the invalid character it can read the xml. The code is definitely not causing this and I can't seem to reproduce it on demand. When I see this happen on the xml outputs I can run a regular text based concurrent program and it too gets the extra invalid character on the end but doesn't affect that type of program.

    Hi folks,
    I'm using the SAX parser to parse a small xml file. If I use that file in IE, there its parsing correctly and displaying the xml in the tree structure.
    But in my Java code its throwing
    org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: An invalid XML character (Unicode: 0x0) was found in the prolog of the document.
    The xml parsing code of my program is
    XMLReader parser = XMLReaderFactory.createXMLReader(
    "org.apache.xerces.parsers.SAXParser");
    HelpPartHandler hp = new HelpPartHandler();
    parser.setContentHandler(hp);
    RandomAccessFile raf = new RandomAccessFile("sample.xml","r");
    byte Contents[] = new byte[(int)raf.length()];
    StringReader sr = new StringReader(new String(Contents));
    InputSource is = new InputSource(sr);
    parser.parse(is);
    The xml file is
    <?xml version="1.0"?>

    </ROOT>
    Please let me know the mistakes what I have done. Looking for the reply.
    Thanks in Advance

    The message seems clear to me. Your document contains a null character, which is not valid in an XML document. Take it out of the document, and change whatever produced the document to not put it there. (I hope you don't consider Microsoft software to be standards-compliant.)

  • What do I need to do to fix Error 1324. The path My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again?

    I am having trouble saving pdf files using Adobe on my PC.
    I get Error 1324. The path My Documents or the volume is invalid.
    How do I fix this please.
    I tried to uninstall and reinstall but I cannot uninstall as I get Error 1324. The path My Documents or the volume is invalid

    Reader does not provide a save as option. You must be using the MS plugin for creating PDFs since Reader can not create PDFs (you would have to have Acrobat). Since you do not have Acrobat, but Reader, you will have to check why the MS plugin is not working -- not an Adobe issue.

  • Word cannot open this document.  The document might be in use, the document might not be a valid Word document,  or the file name might contain invalid characters (for example,\ /).

    I recently upgraded to a new Macbook Air running Lion, from my 2007 white Macbook running Snow Leopard.  I had Office for Mac 2004 on the 2007, but had to upgrade to Office for Mac 2011 to be compatible with Lion on the Air.  Now when I try to open my documents on the Air that were saved under Office 2004 on the old computer, I get the following message: Word cannot open this document.  The document might be in use, the document might not be a valid Word document,  or the file name might contain invalid characters (for example,\ /).
    Any suggestions?  Thank you.

    Ha,ha,ha.....I figured it out.  But for anyone else who's having this problem, it seems that while Office 2004 allowed dates in this format: 00/00/00, Office 2011 doesn't like it at all.  I just changed the format in the document names to 00-00-00 and all is well.  Documents are opening beautifully!

  • "Document name invalid.  The index.xml file is missing"

    I have OSX Yosemite 10.10 and am having a problem just today in Numbers.  A file that I have saved to my desktop and opened daily to input data since the first of November won't open.  It gives me a message that the file is invalid, the "index.xml file is missing"   Running Numbers '09 version 2.3   Have been run ing Yosemite 10.10 for quite some time.  How can I open/retrieve the file?

    I am having the same problem.  I am also running Yosemite 10.10.  The last I accessed the file was on November 13, 2014. I have been noticing that the layout /view of the file with the program has been a little different for about a week before then.  I have not upgraded to the newer version although it is constantly asking to upgrade. Still running Number '09, Version 2.3. I am very concerned as the file I am accessing contains critical records that go back for several years. I am not having problems opening .numbers files that are a couple of years old. Thanks for any help.

  • Error 1324.The path My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again.

    Hello Adobe!
    I get that error when trying to install Adobe Reader X, or upgrade/update on Windows 7 Pro workstations. This also happens when I try to update Adobe Standard products that are on our workstations.
    This is an Active Directory based network, and users have their Documents folder redirected to a network server. Users have full rights over that folder, so using a network location should not be an issue. This is absolutely ridiculous that this should be a problem.
    I've seen several solutions, such as repointing the Documents folder to their C drive again and then back, but that is a ludicrous solution. I'm lucky that only a few of our workstations are Win 7 currently and that I have not been made aware of this issue on Windows XP Pro. I couldn't imagine having to touch 250 workstation to fix this problem.
    Re-redirecting the Documents folder it is NOT a solution it is a bandaid for something broken.
    Does anyone know of a fix or solution to this problem?

    This issue is still present in Adobe Reader XI
    "My Documents" is on a Network share.
    Anyone had any luck in resolving?
    Thanks

  • The Document Information Panel was unable to load.

    Platform: SharePoint 2013, Office 2013.
    Background: When you open an Office document from SharePoint users get this error:
    The Document Information Panel was unable to load. The document will continue to load. For more information, contact your system administrator."
    "The form cannot be opened. To fix this problem, contact the form designer. Form template:

    I tried running this fix: http://www.cb-net.co.uk/microsoft-articles/2063-sharepoint-2010-templates-and-document-information-panel-errors, but it kept saying that it couldn’t see the url that
    I specified (I did check this carefully); think it might only apply to SharePoint 2010 – perhaps the shell syntax is different in 2013.
    Can anyone help me out?

    Hi Alex,
    According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when opening a document from SharePoint.
    Is this document information panel customized?
    I recommend to re-edit the document information panel template to see if the issue still occurs.
    Please go to the Library setting > click the corresponding content type(need to enable managed of content types in Advanced settings) > click Document Information Panel settings.
    If the issue still occurs, please check if the command below can help(change the site URL and the library name in the code):
    Apply-Fix -siteUrl "http://your site URL "
    function Apply-Fix($siteUrl)
    clear
    Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.Powershell" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue # -EA 0
    [Environment]::CurrentDirectory=(Get-Location -PSProvider FileSystem).ProviderPath
    foreach ($spwTarget in (Get-SPSite $siteUrl).RootWeb.Webs) {
    Write-Host "Checking Web: " $spwTarget.Url
    $list = $spwTarget.Lists["your library name"]
    $fields = $list.fields
    foreach($field in $fields)
    if($field.SourceId -eq '{$ListId:your library name;}')
    $schemaxml = $field.SchemaXML
    $schemaxmldata = [xml]$schemaxml
    $schemaxmldata.Field.SetAttribute("SourceID", $list.ID)
    $schemaxml = $schemaxmldata.get_InnerXml()
    $field.SchemaXML = $schemaxml
    $field.Update()
    Write-Host "Fixed" $field.Title "field in the library"
