The Edge Animate splash screen broken in v2014.1

As per the screenshot below, the opening screen on Edge Animate 2014.1 is messed up. It seems to be offset to one corner. The menu at the top works, as do the lesson buttons, but the links on the left ("Create New", etc) cannot be used. I'm using Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Please go to the windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\Your User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe.
Rename the Edge Animate folder to, for example, Old Edge Animate.
Please also share the screen resolution. On my machine it is working fine.

Hi Shaheed, You can use CTRL+T to insert a trigger like in previous versions. Are you talking about something else? If that is the case, a screenshot will help.

I now have a project that seems to be corrupted. A had been working on it all morning, with a few bugs here and there. Now I can no longer open the file, receiving this error: "Edge Animate: Exception An error occurred. Please your work and restart Edge Animate."

Reinstalling the Edge Animate trial

After installing the Edge Animate trial version on my old PC, the PC crashed and I'm having trouble getting it going again.
Can I reinstall the trial version on my laptop instead? I'm doing an assignment for the Adobe GenPro course, so it's urgent.

Losing the will to live... is the Edge animate software full of bugs? Non-Responsive %, px, auto... all fail to do much at all.

I've now spent a good 20 hours racking my head and the various settings... and I'm nearly ready to look at Googles HTML5 and web software offerings, which is frustrating since I pay for the Adobe Creative Suite already.
What would I like to do: (I've simplified my overall aim)
Have a non-responve banner, 1200 x 100.
When I scale down my browser window I want one item (i.e. a box) to stay in the centre, even when the rest of the scene has been cut off. (*it does not need to scale)
- I've tried the presets for responsive layout which do nothing when tested in the browser (I'm using Safari, I'll test in others once it works...).
- The scene is set to be centred, which works. The whole scene is centred in the browser.
I've tried setting the Top, Bottom CSS controllers for the object to % which I believe is correct, but still no success...
I've now tried every other variable I can think of with out success using the some what confusing mixture of '%', 'px' and 'auto' settings.
I've also tried the responsive layout presets for a square drawn directly inside of Edge Animate, and an image dropped into the scene, which has more preset options (all of which seem to have little to not effect whether my scene is responsive or not).
Can someone please put me out of my misery and either tell me I'm missing the obvious problem. Or tell me the software is indeed broken at the moment and doesn't like Apple Safari.
And incase your wondering what I want to do... I'm trying to emulate the setup this website has at the top of their website. Where the embedded vimeo player (I've succeeded in doing that in Edge animate... yey) remains centred whilst a foreground layer and background layer change as the browser window is scaled... (they simply get cut off by the browser window scaling, aligned to the left, centre or right they're not responsive...)

And the saga rolls on. BT called me this morning with another update. Openreach still cannot find my address or my BT phone number / line. It will take another 4 working days for Openreach to contact BT with an update. The BT department who are calling me are the 'fast track' team in Blackburn who I'm afraid to say are anything but. He seemed completely indifferent and thought this was completely acceptable. When I challenged him for an explantion of why more delays, he tried to hind behind the "it is not our fault, it is Openreach" excuse. They sent an email to Openreach last Wednesday 25 July, they received an automated reply on Friday night so too late to do anything until today, and the reply that came back is there is a fault with my address / phone number that they need to fix, which is what I was told last week, and apparently BT cannot phone Openreach, it all has to be done by email. Unbelievable! So the clock starts again from today and the waiting game begins again.

How do i get panning to stop at the edge of my screen?

For the project i am working on i will need to use panning quite a bit. Manual panning is too slow for what i need and auto panning will capture outside of my screen. Is there any way to set the auto panning to stop at the edge of the screen so i am not stuck with large areas of black? thanks,

Good luck with that. Captivate presently does a horrible job with panning. If panning is your thing, you will likely find yourself constantly frustrated with the existing versions of Captivate.
Personally, I'd use Camtasia to create the stuff where you want panning. Then push it out as a SWF and combine it with Captivate for the total package.

How do I change/customize the Photoshop CC splash screen?

I've looked everywhere, but no correct answer has been found. Please help!
I DO NOT want to deface the splash screen, but just add our company logo.
I was able to edit the Illistrator CC just fine.

The only splash screen that i was able to edit was the Illustrator one, because the raw files were in the Windows folder. I have also tried looking in the PSArt.dll for the encrypted versions, but without any luck.
The updater process shouldn't remove the custom ones, because I just replaced the new ones with the same file names.
Please Help!

How can I replace an existing image with a new one on my splash screen. Here's what I mean by this:
I have a form which already has a splash screen logo. This logo will be replaced with a new one. The existing logo is attached as an image in the form of a .tiff file. There are no triggers on the form excepting a "when new form instance" which just says "SET_WINDOW_PROPERTY(FORMS_MDI_WINDOW,TITLE,'ABC').
How can I ensure that the old logo is replaced with a new one.
Here's what I did to replace, i.e my trouble shooting steps:
a)opened the form and deleted the existing splash screen/.tif file
b)went into the layout editor and clicked on "EDIT-> IMPORT" and mapped it to the .tif file that's persent in the local directory. As soon as I click OK, I get the following message :
FORMS-VGS-507- Cannot open file or file not in specified format.
Could any one help me out with this problem or can any one give me a better solution.

Are you talking about changing the splash screen when the Oracle Jinitiator loads? If so, this is controlled by the "base.htm" file in the /%FORMS_HOME%/forms/server directory (Windows and UNIX). If so, check out the [Oracle® Application Server Forms Services Deployment Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25016_04/doc/dl/web/B14032_03/toc.htm], section [4.3.4.4 Applet or Object Parameters | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25016_04/doc/dl/web/B14032_03/configure003.htm#i1077074]. These links are for Forms 11g and 10g. If you are using an older, go to the [Oracle Forms Developer and Forms Services Documenation | http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/forms.html] to choose the right version and then select the Forms Services Deployment Guide. The "*splashScreen*" parameter in the base.htm file controls which image file is displayed as the splashscreen.

Can I remove the Edge Animate stage from the body of my HTML but keep the .js file in the head?

Howdy,
I have designed a couple of Edge Animations for a client to insert on a single page of their website.
The client wants to package all .js files as one for the site to reduce the pageload - but if they do that and simply remove the stage elements from this page the animations take over the page where the stages are supposed to be.
I am hoping it is possible to add some logic to the .js file about "if these divs don't exist, do nothing" but I do not have enough coding skill to alter these Edge Animate .js files.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply.
What my clients want to accomplish is is to package all the separate .js files for the website into one file, so all the pages load faster.
This includes the Animate.js files which are only to be used for the home page, so of course random animations appear on the rest of the pages which don't have the animate DIVs in them.
I have suggested they package all the .js files EXCEPT the animate.js ones and just load them separately on the page the animations are to appear on.
But they are still wanting to do them all in one package however (!!) so my question is:
Can some code be added to the animate.js files that says something like "if these DIVs are not found, make the animation do nothing"?
It is possible the relevant code cannot be added in which case they will have to do the animate.js files separately, but as they have asked me about it I thought I would ask people in the forum if they knew how to accomplish this.

Publishing the Edge animate

I cannot publish the file and get an error message that file saved but Edge Animate encountered error(s): Failed to copy [to the folder's destination]. I tired changing the location of the file but no luck.

I am having the same issue with publishing to web. i get this message:
Edge Animate encountered error(s) publishing: Failed to publish to web at path:..... Make sure the folder is accessable and that the file is not locked.
I do not get the same issue if I publish to Animate Deployment Package. The folder 'web' inside 'publish' is created by Animate Ok but it is then unable to write to the folder. I am using Win 7 and I have tried running Animate in Administrator mode. I have also tried changing the folder Security to Full Control for Users, Authencated Users, SYSTEM and Administrators (which my account is a member) but nothing will resolve the issue.

My Compaq CQ60 laptop boots up, but when it gets to the Windows 7 splash screen it freezes.

Problem began without warning yesterday (5/13) when I shut system down after surfing web for about an hour. After several attempts to restart a screen opened that indicated that disk repair efforts were under way. I left the machine on overnight and found the same program still running this morning. No solution or repairs had been discovered. I have tried numerous times to restart, but always with the same results. I don't have start up discs, because I purchased a refurbished computer with OS pre-installed. Is there hope?

Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the details of any error messages.
If both the above tests pass, try the following.
If you don't already have one, use another PC to create a Windows 7 Rescue CD. Download the relevant ISO from the links below.
Windows 7 32bit
Windows 7 64bit
You should use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. Once created, or if you already have this, insert the CD into the notebook and restart to boot from it. Select the Repair option.
Select the 'Repair your Computer' option and follow Option 2 in the guide on the link below to run Start-up Repair – you may need to run this 2 or 3 times.
