The email app

I have an AOL account but usually get to my email on AOL via Safari. It seems to work better and faster than using the Mac desktop AOL has. However, how come my email box on safari is different than my email box when I go to it from the AOL desktop?
In other words, my AOL email box via safari is more updated. When I go to my AOL email box via the AOL desktop...it seems that there are older emails in it that I've already read and even trashed when I saw them in safari.
Why does that happen? It never bothered me, I just used safari to get to AOL, but now that I have a Touch, when I use the email app that came with it...my AOL email is outdated. It's the AOL email box I get on the AOL desktop, and not the more current email box that I can access through safari.
Does anyone even understand what I'm asking and experiencing?!!!

Hi there!
I am almost sure you have your email settings at AOL to "leave copy on server" or somting similar to that. If that is the case, even if you delete an email it will always be on the server, so when you go and use another app to access your mail, it will download all email. You might be using POP instead of IMAP...

In attempt to fix the problem I did close the email app and rebooted the device by holding the sleep and home buttons till the apple logo appear. Now the app began to crash after click on the message's title on the left sige barr on the scean. Any solutins exept restoring ftom backup? The iPad is runing "IOS 5.1.1". Is it a particular email that you are trying to select ? If it is then it may be a problem with that email so you could try deleting it by logging into your account on a browser.
And by closing the Mail app do you mean just minimising or closing it via the iPad's Taskbar ? If you haven't tried closing it via the taskbar then you could also try that : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.

An Exchange account is an e-mail account serviced my a Microsft Exchange server... Typically a corporate e-mail account. It used to be possible to configure a free gmail account as an Exchange account, but it is no longer possible to set one up that way.

You'll need iPhoto '11 (available in the Mac App Store) to view them in iPhoto on your Mac. When you install it, you'll be able to go to System Preferences>iCloud and check Photos. Then when you subscribe to the shared stream you will find it in the iCloud section of iPhoto (see below).
Otherwise, you can ask the owner of the shared stream to enable the Public Website option and send you the link. This will give you a link to view them on the web from your browser.

same here. Google is reporting too many connections. My problem is that prior to the upgrade it was working "ok". So its clearly a 10.9 issue

New email on iphone 6 IOS 8 is delayed and won't update until you lauch the email app

New email that is received on an iphone 6 (IOS 8) doesn't update # until you actually launch the email app. At that time the new email badge updates and VIP notifications are activated. How do I correct this so that it updates immediately as email is received.

If you are not getting updates in Mail until you launch the app, you may want to check in Settings to make sure that Push delivery is active, as noted on this page:

Using the Email App?

Does sending email via the App on the home screen incur any fees if I only use WiFi and have my data block on? I was not sure if Verizon has some way of charging for that use or not, even though you may have data blocked.

Hey, rich215. No, you will not be charged for using the email app if you're on Wi-Fi and have data blocked. The only charges associated with using email are data charges, and you have that covered.
A scenario where a customer could unknowingly be charged is if he didn't have a data block and had email set to sync at intervals, rather than checking it manually ... then he'd be charged for email syncing when not in a Wi-Fi area.

Is there anyway to kill the email app. without rebooting the phone?

I get emails, but I can't do anything on the screen. It is totally unresponsive to touch. In addition, my sleep button is broken, so I can't reboot the phone. (ordered new one, but not getting it for weeks). Is there anyway to kill the email application without rebooting the phone?

Thanks, I figured as much. Will I be able to save all my apps and content by importing them to my computer and then uploading them back to my iPad after I upgrade the iOS? If so, do you happen to know if a gen 1 iPad running an iOS 4.2.1 is able to upgrade to an iOS 5? I did read online that the iOS 6 is NOT compatible with it so I want to be sure the iOS 5 is before I go through the trouble...

Where is the Email app in FF os. Mac-user OSX 10.10.1 mac mail.

I installed the add-on Encrypted Communication on my iMac OSX 10.10.1. Apple Mail is my mail-app. Kensington track ball my mouse.
This combination does not work together. Right click in the textarea has no effect. Searching for information pointed to the Mail app in Firefox OS. But this app is not available.
What to do?

Firefox OS isn't the same as the Firefox web browser, which doesn't have a "mail app".

After opening an email of photos from my mom, the email app won't open. I've rebooted the iPad, I've closed the app and reopeneded it. When I open it I get the basic frame (reply button, delete, etc) but none of my accts show up.

When I first opened the email, it took forever to open. Then the pics didn't show up as pics, but as a ton of some kind of code. Since then, the app will open with just the frame, no info in the frame, no email accts or anything. Then it closes automatically after a few seconds.
I've closed the app and reopened it, rebooted the iPad, and gone online and deleted the email itself. But the app still won't open. Help, please!!

Thank you. I tried the soft reboot again, and the home button has been working fine this whole time. I have tried deleting the email acct from the settings and the mail app still opens only empty frames. I have a screen shot of it, but don't know how to post it here to be able to show what exactly is happening.
The mail app will open. I can see the area that usually shows the messages themselves. I can also see the area that usually displays all the accts. Both these areas are completely blank. The search bar is showing on the left hand side, and up on the top right, the download button, reply, delete and compose buttons are showing. At the very bottom left the refresh button is showing. The app sits like that for about 20 seconds and then automatically closes. None of the buttons are responsive. I cannot see any of the email accounts I have in the app (3, usually but 2 at the moment since deleting the acct that seemed to have caused this problem).
I have force-stopped the app, shut down and restarted the iPad, and rebooted the iPad. None of these have helped.

So the app is opening to a white screen then closing on its own? If you have deleted your email accounts & the app is still crashing then I would try resetting all settings (without deleting data).
Did you reboot the iPad after removing the email accounts? If not, try that first holding the home & sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until the apple logo appears, then release & once booted back up, try opening the mail app again.
The problem may have started because one of your email messages might have been corrupt or had a corrupt attachment. If you can access it from a computer, sign into your email & see if there are any that can't be opened or produce errors opening. If so, delete the offending emails then try adding the account back to the iPad.

I have a mid-2010 MBP, and I just upgraded to Mavericks. Also, I switched to AirMail as my default email app as Mail has issues handling Gmail (or Gmail IMAP is the one with issues... whatever). AirMail seems to be working flawlessly so far.
The problem is with the pop up notifications (alerts). Being able to delete email message directly from the pop up notifications (alerts) is great, except it brings the mail app to focus/front, which beats the whole purpose of the shortcut. Am I the only one having this issue, or is this one of the many bugs in Mavericks?

GO to settings, mail, contacts and calendars and right at the top is 'add an account'
Add the login info for your mail account and follow the prompts. then you should be able to mail from your iPad.

What is up with the email app

My email app is not accepting (recieving) or sending email from the device, even though I have changed the passwords in my email service and made sure the passwords in the device 100% match in both the device as well as the email service(s) why is this happening? I realize I am running a dinosaur device but everything else is working still (Music apps games ect.) I need to have the email functioning correctly!

When I changed the password on the device it said it could not be verified even though I had just changed the password I waited about 30 minutes and tried adding the new password and still couldnt be verified so I tried adding a different email account and got the same result it couldnt verify the email password for the second email account even though I went into that email service changed the password and made sure it exactly 100% matched on the device
I use both an Earthlink account and a Hotmail account and the device is not getting either account for the Hotmail account it says "pop3.live.com the password or user name is incorrect" even though I just signed in on my computer with the same exact user name and password

ok, so i set up an email account on my ipod so i don't have to go onto my pc to access emails from that account. but recently i needed to make a new email for use with other things and want to use the new email rather than the old one. how do i erase the email account that's been set up so that i can use the new one?

Just go to Settings>Mail..>and the accvount yu want to delete. Scroll down the screen and there will be a big red delete account button

How do i get pdf through the email app on an iphone?

A customer of mine was griping that he can't get a pdf file to open on his iphone.
so i sent him image files to try. All files are small of course.
I thought he was just a whiner, but i tested it, and I also cannot get pdf files or jpeg files to mail to my own phone.
the pdf doesn't even show up to download or anything. and the image screenclips emails aren't even received.
Is this something that the iphone just can't do? seems kind of basic.

If you scroll to the bottom of the eMail, it should be there in a little icon. Otherwise you may have a problem with your eMail host.
