The firefox icon is greyed out but works

the firefox icons on desktop and folder all greyed out. they work to connect, but i'd like original icon. i have re-installed software 3 times with same result.

I was writing an e-mail and had just spell checked. Thunderbird crashed. When it came back up, the send icon is greyed out (as well as the spell check. I ran through all the help suggestions (including the profile removal). The computer I am having trouble with is Lion 10.7.5. I have it also on 10.6.8 (snow leopard). I am about to give up and start using this computer (10.8.5) for mail - pain in the ..... to have to move everything!

Have a look and make sure your accounts still appear in the settings.
Tools menu > account settings.. It might be something is just rubbish following corruption caused by the crash, but I think it would be fairly obvious just scrolling through the account settings if they look like junk.

Much like the title says the Spelling ICON is greyed out. When I go to the Discussion List and select the thread then view the list in “Flat” view, the Spelling ICON is not greyed out. However, this is a different aspx file. The first method
displays the thread via the Topics.aspx (the normal way) whereas the second displays the thread using the Flat.aspx.
Regardless, why is the Spelling ICON greyed out on the normal way you would reply to a discussion thread? By the way, I had to activate the Publishing Infrastructure on the Site Collection to get the Spelling ICON just to show up when I click on “reply”
from a Discussion thread.

According to your post, my understanding is that when you went to the Discussion List and selected the thread then view the list in “Flat” view, the Spelling ICON was greyed out.
By design in SharePoint, when you view the list in “Flat” view, the ribbon would be as below:
Only when you add a reply and move the mouse to the content, the Spelling ICON will appear.

Often, rebooting, or deleting the waiting app and re-installing, will do the trick.

Wi-fi icon in menubar greyed out but working perfectly?

Normally when my wi-fi icon is greyed out I cannot use the internet but today everything is perfect except for the colour of the icon.
I have relaunched the Finder and restarted my iMac but it remains grey.
Any suggestions?

The 3D option is greyed out, but i seem to have enough RAM

I seem to have enough RAM, but the 3d option is my all my adobe programs is still greyed out. It is possible I am reading the requirements wrong, please advise. I have listed my computer information below.

I figured it out for illustrator,
I was selecting the words I wanted to make 3D by highlighting them rather then just using my select tool and selecting the words
however it is still not working in Photoshop.

Dictation in Pages is Greyed out, but works in notes. Anyone know how to turn it on in pages?

I cannot forward e-mail. The send icon is greyed out. It sometimes happens when I hit reply as well, or new message.

Is this a POP account, or an Exchange account? It's probably not a problem with Mail, but more likely your Preferences are the culprit.
Check Mail Prefernces > Accounts > Account Information to see if there's an entry for the Outgoing Server, or if None is chosen. If none is chosen, you'll need to enter the SMTP server for that email account and then try it again; that should resolve the problem.
You should also use the Connection Doctor to see what it says: Window > Connection Doctor.
Post back with results.

After resetting Firefox, all of my PDF files now have the Firefox icon. I don't like this. Is Mozilla working on a fix for this?

As stated, I used the reset feature in Firefox and immediately afterward the icon on all of my PDF files changed to the Firefox icon. Hopefully Mozilla is working on a fix for this??

This solved my problem. Got my Adobe icons back. Hope the other people having the same problem see this solution - it was pretty painless compared to some of the other solutions I read about.

How do I get apps that appear in purchased list to down from cloud. The icon is greyed out?

I have a few app icons showing the cloud that I am unable to download. The app icon appears greyed out and in some cases the install button is showing half the icon as if it had become corrupt during a previous download.

Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.
Try logging out and back in with your AppleID - Settngs App > iTunes 7 qapp Stores > Tap your Apple ID > sign Out. then sign back in.

The video stabilisation icon is greyed out

I am unable to stabilize videos while using iMovie 10.0.1. The stabilization icon is greyed out and nothing happens when I try to click through. Is anyone else facing the same issue and is there a resolution?

Is it that you are trying to stabilise a clip in the events? Stabilisation can only be activated on a clip when it is in a project timeline. It is done in a background task and may take several minutres before it is finished. The stabilisation should then be visible when scrubbing through the clip in the timeline. (Scrubbing through the same clip in the events pane will still not be stabilised).

When I delete itunes match song from itunes, download icon is greyed out

Now that my songs are in the cloud, I want to delete my ripped version and download the iTunes Match version, but I can't see how since the download icon is greyed out. Anybody know how? Thanks!

The first thing to keep in mind is that not every track will be "matched." Some will be "uploaded." You need to enable the iCloud Status column in the iTunes browser to see what the track's status are. Switch to Song view and pull down View > View Options. Select "iCloud Status" then close the window. Now you will be able to see the status of the songs. Tracks with a status of "uploaded" are the exact same tracks that were on your computer.
If the streams are greyed out that generally means iTunes can not connect to the cloud. Look next to Music and see if the cloud icon is solid. If it is not quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, the relaunch it. This should re-establish the connection to the cloud and you will be able to download the tracks.
