The first(?) libjpeg issue - proprietary drivers and firmware

Hello, everyone!
Yesterday I was trying to scan some document with my Epson Perfection V10 (same as V100), and found my scanner not working.
It can be detected by sane. But if I try to start iscan utility, it says, that libjpeg.so.62 is missing (any other utilities just don't see my scanner).
This scanner is one of those scanners, that are no longer supported by epson, and need a proprietary modules for operating properly (am I right?).
Can someone tell me, if I can get working two different versions of libjpeg on my system?
Or, maybe, someone can tell me how can I make my scanner to work?
I have tried to symlink the new libjpeg as libjpeg.so.62. iscan will start with this trick, but scanning won't work yet.
I would be very glad to get some help with this, or I will have to fallback to windows

I own that scanner, too, and ran into the same problem during the last libjpeg update (6 -> 7). Back then, I installed libjpeg6 from AUR:

It shouldn't be a problem to install libjpeg6 together with another version of libjpeg. The library has a different file name anyway and all the binaries have a proper suffix ("cjpeg6", "jpegtran6", ...).
However, I haven't done the current big libjpeg/libpng update yet. But I don't think that'll make a difference because iscan is asking for libjpeg6.

Epson Stylus Pro 7700 will not work after installing Mountain Lion, I have update all drivers and firmware

This is a large format printer used for proofs that I cannot use since upgrading to Mountion Lion, anyone else had printer issues?

Checked RoaringApps App Compatibility Table. These are apps not drivers but..
All I see listed is:
- Epson LFP Remote Panel 3.6.1 and with a ? under Mountain Lion
- Epson Printer Utility 4 8.6.1 and red X indicating non-compatibility with Mountain Lion
- Epson Scan 3.7.5 and a green check mark showing compatibility with Mountain Lion

I received an ipod touch 5th gen for Christmas. The first songs i've downloaded and synced with my touch have created ghost songs. They are only on my computer in itunes once but appear on my ipod twice, one copy that won't play. I can't delete them

I can't delete them. I've tried unticking all the music that was on the ipod via itunes and re-syncing, which in theory should delete all music from my ipod. It does except for the 5 ghost songs.   So at present I have no music on ipod except the 5 ghost songs.   Has anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of these?
I had no problems with my ipod touch 4th, which I had for years.   Any help would be great.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- Then do the other actions of:

- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

The recommendation is always to make another ID for use with a paid books account. And while I can't swear this is at the root of your issue, you should in any case reach out to Apple for assistance on this one, I think.

I tried connecting to iTunes and neither the PC nor iTunes recognizes the device. I went through all the troubleshooting on the Apple website for this issue and nothing worked. I've reinstalled iTunes, the driver, everything and still can't get either the PC or iTunes to recognize the phone. I don't know what else to do :-( any help or suggestions are highly appreciated!
I would hate to have lost all my info, especially contacts and calendar items since I have no idea what was backed up prior to the phone getting locked on this screen. I've been told that my only option is to go to the phone carrier and they will reset it for me, but that means it will wipe out all the info.
I hope someone has a fix other than that one.

Brother HL-3170CDW won't print in color, has poor print quality. I have downloaded drivers, and firmware from Brother with no success.

Also, the print quality is quite poor. Any suggestions what I should be looking for to resolve this? I feel like I am back in the 90's with Windows 3.1!

You need to go to the brother website and download the driver for your printer. I had the same problem, and resolved it just now. The driver for this particular printer is not a good match for any of the preinstalled printer drivers on os x.

Not sure where these hard disk folders are located that you are referring to? Finder, Finder tool bar, Finder side bar, Desktop, Dock?
More then likely they are an alias that not longer point to the orginals, thus the question mark.
I would reboot. Delete icons if an alias and just recreate by dragging from the source. Try right click (control) click to remove.

I am not even sure how to remove these programs to see if it helps.

Mac OS X is the operating system for Mac labelled computers.

The most recent update erased all of my bookmarks. I tried the steps to find them and they are gone. This is not the first time this has happened and it extremely disuptive.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

It can't do that by itself. You had to click through several prompts telling it to restore it from a backup of an old phone for that to happen.
If the phone was not backed up to iCloud before this happened, or to another computer, then the data is gone. There is no way to recover it.

You may want to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes. The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. If it's a software or data corruption glitch, the Restore should fix it. After the Restore, reload or resync your songs, and try it again. As a test, you may want to initially select a small number of songs to put back on the shuffle.
