The Flash plug-in causes Firefox to crash for about 2 minutes every 20 seconds, it is the newest Flash update. It has happened to me both with Firefox 3.6 and 4!

Firefox for me has been fine for the past couple of years or so. Then all of a sudden about 5 months ago, everytime i would use Firefox it would crash after browsing for about 1 minute. I uninstalled and reinstalled numerous times to no avail. I then got sick of the problem and then used IE till now.
However, i heard about Firefox 4 and thought maybe this would fix it. Unfortunately, the same problem occurred! I then heard about being able to start Firefox with add-ons disabled to find any sources of problems, and i've found that the cause if Flash! It is the newest version and always has been, so i don't know what i can do, since Flash is important for most websites nowadays!?

Could you please do the following.
Download the following two files and save to your desktop. These are direct download links so you'll only see the dialog boxes which looks like the ones you see in the screenshot.
* [http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe uninstall_flash_player.exe]
* [http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe install_flash_player.exe]
Next, close Firefox via File | Exit (''it's important that you do it this way and not just by clicking the close button'')
Next, double click the '''uninstall_flash_player.exe '''file you downloaded earlier and then '''reboot'''. A reboot is necessary to remove the setting from the Windows Registry.
Next, double click the '''install_flash_player.exe''' file to reinstall Flash.
Finally, restart Firefox and see if it made any difference.

• Flash plug in causes Firefox 4.0.1 (on Vista Business) to hang

Flash plug in causes Firefox4 (on Vista Business) to hang, on sites with flash content (videos, etc)
I tried everything I found in firefox forums (uninstalling - reinstalling the plugin, disabling hardware accelaration, etc ), but it was useless
I tried installing Firefox 5.0b2 and I have the same problem: with the flash plug in activated, I get CPU usage up to 100% and Firefox hangs...

Make sure that you allow the plugin-container process in the firewall.
You can try to disable the hardware acceleration in the Flash Player.

There has been a security update of the Flash Player and the current version is 10.1 r85 , so you are two versions behind (previous was 10.1 r82).

• Logic 8.0 with Snow Leopard - Addictive Drums plug-in causes Logic to crash

I just bought a new iMAC with Snow Leopard and installed Logic 8.0.
It seems to run OK but one particular plug-in causes Logic to crash.
It's Addictive Drums by XLN Audio.
It runs OK in Logic and ProTools LE8 on my MacBookPro which has Leopard.
XLN Audio are so far mystified.
Another drum plug-in, Superior Drums 2.0 and Altiverb both work fine.
I'm upgrading to Logic 9 this weekend hoping that this will sort it.
It seems that AD has a problem with Snow Leopard.
Anyone else encountered this problem?

Yes...version shows as 8.0.2 (1502.22)
Reading some the negative comments on the forum re.Logic 9 I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth upgrading from 8. It doesn't seem likely to be the solution and may cause more problems.
I've heard the new guitar amp features are excellent though which interests me.

• How do I give YouTube the Flashplayer plug-in it's asking me for?

iBook g4 ppc, 1.5 MB Ram
Firefox 3.6.28 (default browser, but I also use Safari)
Safari 4.1.3
TenFourFox7450 A browser like Firefox for OS 10.4.11
QuickTimePlayer v 7.6.4 .jpg
Hi,
My YouTube has been running fine both on Safari and on Firefox until a couple of days ago. (Around that time I did happen to download and work with a Firefox offshoot for Tiger called TenFourFox, but I don't know if that caused this problem. TenFourFox is at http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox/. What little I’ve used TenFourFox, it’s a great browser, better than Firefox 3.6.28 for me which is the highest I can go with Firefox. I just noticed, though, that there’s a caveat in TenFourFox that says no plug-ins accepted. Then there are a lot of work-around pages which I haven’t gotten into yet. I’ll stick to firefox and safari for now until I get my YouTube back.)
What happens when I arrive at a YouTube or other video site is this. The video window is grayed out and there's a small message that says I need a plug-in. In sequence, as I click, I get the following messages:
I went to the archived Adobe plug-in page and got Flash Player 10.1.102.64, as specified for my OS 10.4.11 and ppc Ibook G4.
Now I've got these two in my application folder:
Flash Player.app
and
Flash Player Debugger.app
But the problem isn't solved. I've downloaded that plug-in, Flash Player 10.1.102.64, a number of times and still can't get YouTube to work.
Infrequently, a YouTube video will run, but it doesn't stream well. That's usually the case anyway because of low bandwidth. For that reason, when I can see the videos (I mean when YouTube's working as it should), I have to download them, then play them in Quicktime. They'll stream evenly, though even then I have to wait for the Quicktime video to buffer.
That's the problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rafael

Have you tried the Flash forum? Folks here focus on Acrobat, not Flash.
You can do a search on Flash from Adobe and simply go to the Adobe site and download it. Then install it. You may have to close the browser first, particularly if you want the browser to recognize the plugin.

Firefox freezes the computer for about 20-30 seconds (not even Alt+Tab works), the screen blinks black and then it shows the desired page. Does that several times at the beginning, then sort of stabilizes.
This happens even if I simply hover the mouse over bookmarks, not even opening a page.
And waiting for this to happen some times or closing and re-opening seems to make it work ok again.
I've already disabled almost all add-ons (I'm using only one for Flash and NoScript right now), reinstalled Firefox (8.0.1), restoring only the bookmarks from an older version.

'''Try the Firefox Safe Mode''' to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.''

* You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* Or use the Help menu item and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode"''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again.''

• After I close the browser, it will not reopen for a while. I receive a message stating that firefox is still running. I can open IE at this point, but firefox is disabled for about 10 minutes

After I close the firefox browser, I cannot repoen the program. There is an error message to the effect that the program is still running. I cannot access it withthe ALT TAB command and I dont see the program active in the task bar. I can run IE at that time and get back to the web, but Firefox wont open for several minutes-not sure how long. I wait a while and I can back to the browser. That's all I can tell you unless you have specific questions Thanks BB

it doesnt seem like i can reset it or put it into recovery mode.
Any suggestions? do you think it has a hardware problem?

Hello oilyragfun, I am having the exact same problem. Did you ever get this resolved?
No history of drops or abuse. When I plug it in the screen just dimly flashes or pulses about once every second. No logo, just the entire screen dimly backlit for a half of a second the blank again. I can't get it to respond with any combination of buttons or reset proceadures.

• Firefox freeze's for about 10-15seconds on some websites.

When I am browsing sites on the internet, most work as normal. But there are a heap that when I go to these websites, freeze firefox completely for about 10-15 seconds before returning to normal.
I have included the url's of 2 sites that it does it on. Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Has the page finished loading when that freeze happens?
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Just bought a used 8700 bb and when I plug it in the redlight comes on for about 5-10 seconds and then turns off.
What does that mean?
Also when I try to turn on nothing happens, the only action is when I plug it into the charger and that red light comes on for a brief moment.

• I have set up a Netgear dual band modem which works well with the iPhone and an older MacBook, but with this brand new MacBook it asks for a password every time I reopen the computer and open safari. Is it Lion?

I have set up a Netgear dual band modem which works well with the iPhone and an older MacBook, but with this brand new MacBook it asks for a password every time I reopen the computer and open safari. As you can imagine this is very annoying. It says I am not connected to the internet and offers me a choice of nearby networks including mine and then asks for a password when I select it. Why does it do this with our new MacBooks (also with my son's brand new one) and not with the iPhone, iPad and older MacBook? They happily automatically connect to our network after entering the password just the once.

Sig, I appreciate you trying to be helpful. I have no idea what issues you were having or what issue exactly pgrounds has been having. Your assumption that everyone's set up is the same as yours is false however. There are many many documented WiFi issues that are a result of Lion installs. Many have been solved by 10.7.1 and 10.7.2. Others have been solved by a large variety of work arounds. Others have not had their issues solved yet.
I am one of those. I have an IT background, and I spent the better of five hours digging up workarounds and attempting all of them. For the benefit oh anyone who is having similar issues, I have posted links to all of those workarounds here. None of them worked in my case, but hopefully they will help pgrounds or others.
So, once again, if you have a new idea, I'd love to here it. But if it has already been posted in one of these links, it's not helpful, let it go.

How can I burn a copy of my project to a DVD . I do not have IDVD because I have the Lion OS. I did purchase Wondershare for burning but it will not load the iMovie events or projects

There is no proper substitute for iDVD.
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?

UPDATE & ADDENDUM:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs. If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer. After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date. I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected. For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?
