I have been unable to rename folders and continually get the finder error message: "The Name (_____) Can't Be Used Because It's Reserved By The System."
I have tried several different combinations and it is not a matter of impermissible characters or repeated name. As far as I can tell the permissions have remained the same and nothing was knowingly altered on the computer. I have tried saving to the desktop and shared network and get the same results.
Any assistance that can be provided will be much appreciated.

Has this problem started recently? Might want to run disk repair and fix permissions.
I suggest you backup all your data. I am thinking disk corruption.
You may want to run these "standard" fixes if the problem persists.
1) Check the amount of free space on your harddrive. You should have a several gigs free.
2) You should run disk utility
      Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility
      a) verify the disk
      b) update your permissions.
3) Try a safe boot.
     Shutdown your machine. Hold down the shift key. Poweron. Wait awhile; wait awhile while you harddrive
     is being checked.

we cannot provide any solution here because the domain validation is the second step of the process and is automated.
My advice wouldbe to follow the message guideline and contact the support, they may identify why this domain is refused.

Your account names are probably different on the two Macs. If you know the UNIX command line, open a terminal window and run:
$ id
You should see a line that starts with something like this:
uid=501(your_user_id_here)
now check the owner of the folder you copied over:
$ ls -ld Music
drwx------+ 8 some_user_id_here staff 272 May 14 16:08 Music
Do the IDs match? If not, you could change the ownership. Say your id is "johnsmith"
$ chown -R johnsmith Music
Now try and access it with iTunes.

I get the error message "The media can’t be used because you don’t have access privileges, or because it has no content or is corrupt." when I drag photos (or copy and paste photos) from iPhoto to Pages/Word.
It never used to do this and is really quite annoying, as I now have to find the file through finder to drag from there.
I had to rebuild the iPhoto library a few days ago, is it something to do with this?

Click on the Add Library button,
navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. When you setup the Mac, you created a Admin user account with say name X
You ran Migration Assistant and it migrated user Y from the Windows machine.
User Y has different permissions than User X.
User X can't normally access User Y's account.
So what you do is log out of User X via the Apple menu and into User Y, this way you have permission to access the files.
If you want to transfer files from User Y to User X account
Transfer files between user accounts on the same machine instructions
Finder > Go menu > Computer
A window appears with your boot drive, double click on it to open
Inside is Users folder, double click to open it
Inside is your User accounts, double click on the one you want to send files too
Double click on the Public folder drop the files into the DropBox folder,
The permissions will change and can be used in the other user account when you log into it and moved to the appropriate folders.
Applications are typically installed and kept in the Applications folder which is a global access folder all users can access to run them from, but not all users can modify unless they are a Admin user.
Windows programs won't run on a Mac, but they can be instaled into a virtual machine program that is running Windows.

HELP, I did something very stupid. I used my installation disk and went into the disk utility and change the Volume Scheme to partition it to 1 volume & named it Macintosh. Don't be upset. From what you've said, I don't see any reason to believe that you lost anything. You did make a lot of mistakes, though, starting with having only one backup and not testing it.

Yes, you did. You can't do anything with a computer without using software. Possibly what you mean is that you used the Finder. That's software. Or it may have been something else.

I keep getting the above error everytime I plug in my iphone.
I am not daft, I do have the 64bit version of iTunes installed already. When I installed itunes 10.5 and more recently 10.5.1 I got an error message that rolls back a section of the installation (The updater I think) before finishing off installing iTunes.
After the installation iTunes will work normally apart from when I try to connect a device. At which point I get the title error message and I can not sync my phone.
It's probably down to Itunes not installing properly however no matter what I try I can not sort the problem out. I've tried uninstalling all apple programmes followed by a registry clean, then reinstall. I've tried the same again but in a specific order. I've tried repairing iTunes, repairing the updater etc etc. Nothing seems to work. I'm out of ideas.

In the recent past, I have been able to drag photos from iPhoto into Pages or Text Edit. I can drag photos from some photo events, but not from the photos I have recently used in a DVD project. I did drag photos from Pintrest into my iPhoto to use in the DVD project, but didn't see copyright info attached to any of those. Could this be the problem?

As a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it doesn't then you need to repair your original library by applying the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #4 to rebuild the database.

I have a new Mac 27 with two users. Both are admins. Are you trying to do both at once? There is an issue with TC where if you have one login user accessing the drive, another user cannot use it. You need one to log out so the other can log in. It is ok from another computer I think.. just you cannot maintain two logins from the same computer.

Did you use migration assistant when you set up the computer?
TM will treat this as a different computer and permissions issues can arise from that.
Pondini is the expert on that stuff.. hopefully he can drop in.
