The formatting of text goes wrong in my mac mail when it leaves me?
When I write an email in Mac Mail (sending from a me.com email address), I am able to format the font of the email perfectly well at my end, choosing whatever font etc I want & the settings look fine to select a particular font but then by the time that it arrives with the person I'm sending it to it's nearly always in Times New Roman (whereas it was in Arial for example when I sent it) - but not always, a few people receive it in the font I sent it in (or indeed another random font!).
Sometimes it also has all sorts of strange font sizes and colours if I've cut and pasted into the email or if I've pasted into the email and then made changed to the font i pasted in then these areas where I've amended it come out a different font or different colour, even though it all looks fine on my screen and appears to be the same font size etc. To get round this I have to select all the text in the email every single time I send an email where I have cut and pasted and then select font, font size and colour and reset this...it still means that it arrives in Times New Roman whatever font type I choose, but it does at least arrive in all the same font size and colour.
For some reason, though, it seems to arrive in the font I want if I write a document in Word and then cut and paste this into the body of the email, and similarly the autosignature works perfectly most of the time so that bit usually arrives in the font that I wrote it in...?!
As I'm using mail for business purposes it looks really unprofessional - all ideas gratefully received!
Hello CarolineLongEaton,
I noticed you posted this problem quite a while ago and wondered if you managed to have it fixed in an alternative way then posting here. It is too bad no one has posted a solution here. I have a similar problem and if you have had yours solved since this occurance how you accomplished it may help me with mine. I am interested to know what you have done about yours.
If you are interested in comparing the problems to see if your solution (if you have found one) might help me also then here is the link to the discussion.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6116927
If your problem has not been solved then I will comment here again if/when my issue is resolved as it may help you too. My hope here is that we may help each other. To quote you "all ideas gratefuly recieved". I hope your problem was resolved, ernestly for your sake and selfishly for mine also. I wish you and yours a great day!

The special offer for the printer that is going on with a Mac, how does that work? Is it true i can get a free printer?
you pay for it up front, and they give you a rebate or $99, so if you buy a $99 printer from them (Epson Stylus NX430 Small-in-One Color Inkjet Printer $99.95) then the printer becomes free. You can not get this deal unless you also buy a mac with it.

How do I only sync the last 18 months of emails to my mac mail on the macbook?
How do I only sync the last 18 months of emails to my mac mail on the macbook? It is currently retrieving all emails from the four accounts I am syncing to and filling up space on my macbook. I can't work out how to set a limit.
Any help appreciated!Imap is designed to synchronize your mail client with the mail server, this the normal result.

How can I change the format of text pasted into a Mail email from another document?
I paste some text from a word document into an email in Mail. In the word document, the text was indented .5" from the right margin. In the Mail email document, the text also appears indented .5" from the right margin.
But since this was the last text in the email I am composing, my text following the pasted-in part continues at the indented "style" of the pasted in text. And thre are no controls for changing this indentation on subsequent text in that email, nor can you chage the indentation formatting of the text pasted in.
Even when you select "decrease indentation" under the format/indentation options in the menu bar, Mail will not reduce a "pasted-in" paragraph indentation nor will it return a subsequent text paragraph you type in manually back to a left-adjusted margin.
Am I miising something?
Is there a way to see something in each Mail message composition window akin to what you see in a word processing document that allows you to set margins and indentations and tabs for individual paragraphs? Just like the Formatting controls you have here in the Apple Support communities when you ar composing a message and that I used to indent this paragraph?
And then used to return this paragraph back to the original left adjusted formatting?
SteveThanks for the reminder. I use the formatting toolbar but forgot to go there instead of the Format menubar item for Mail to try the indent and outdent commands.
But, alas, that indent, outdent option has no impact on text pasted into the message. It remains stuck at the indent level of the source text.
Might the answer lie in switching to plain text and formatting there? Tried that and no difference.
I did discover that if you highlight text pasted in with its "own" indentation preference "baked in" you can indent that text further and even "outdent" it back to where it was, but you cannot shake it's original indentation status to get it back to full left margins.

How to Copy the formatting of text already in an indesign document?
Hello everybody.
I'm still fairly new to indesign and am self taught so feel I have missed some of the little tools that make life simpler.
One such problem I'm having is that when I import text into my brochure I'm creating, I need it to be formatted the same as the rest of the text in my project. Is there a simple way for me to copy the formatting style in the rest of the document or do I have to choose the specific font, colour, size and justification every time I import some new text?
I know in Microsoft word for example there is a specific button which copy's the formatting from one section of text to another, is there a similar kind of button in indesign?
Thanks
AntYou can use the Eyedropper tool to copy type attributes. But you are probably much better off learning how to use Paragraph Styles and applying them consistently. That way when you need to make a change, all your paragraphs will update in lock-step.

Is there any way to retain the formatting of text being imported from Excell as datasource?
My client has given me text formatted with italics, bold and colors. I have all the data for my app in an Excel spreadsheet. In Excel, the text formatting is preserved. However, when I import the data into my Siena app, all of the text formatting reverts
to whatever the format of the label control. Is there another type of control I can use to preserve the rich text formatting?Hi Robingo,
Excel is strictly treated as a data source and Siena only imports the data in your tables, not the formatting.
If there is some business logic behind the formatting, you could mimic the same logic in Siena. For example, the font is bold or red if a value is in a certain range, the font is in italics if the data is for a specific customer, etc.
Thanks

Can you change the format of text in Track Text Edits?
My client wants changed text to be blue double-underlined. I can apply a character tag to changed text to create the double underline, but it will not change the color to blue from the default forest green.
Is there a way to customize the format of the Track Text Edits text? Please help as soon as you can because I'm starting this project today using conditional text for the deletions and character formatting for the changes and insertions in this ~300 page book.
Thanks,
KarenKaren,
The track edit changes are just special formats of Condition Catalog items that are unfortunately hardwired. You can save them as MIF, edit the color, e.g.
<Condition
<CTag `FM8_TRACK_CHANGES_ADDED'>
<CState CShown>
<CStyle CUnderline>
<CSeparation 10>
<CColor `Forest Green'> <-- change to Blue ro whatever is defined in the Color catalog.
<CAndCondition >
> # end of Condition
<Condition
<CTag `FM8_TRACK_CHANGES_DELETED'>
<CState CShown>
<CStyle CStrike>
<CSeparation 2>
<CColor `Red'>
<CAndCondition >
> # end of Condition
HOWEVER, FM dutifully changes these back when you re-open the MIF fle. No can do manually.
IIRC, I believe that Rick Quatro has written a Framescript that does some magic here. You might want to contact him - see:

How can I lose the formatting for text I paste in?
I cannot lose the formatting used by writers who email me articles for a Master Gardener newsletter. Specifically, I need to lose the extra space between the last line of one paragraph and the first line of another. I've tried exporting to Plain Text, which works for some--not all. Before I converted to the new OS, I could export to a PFD to lose the formatting, but that doesn't work now.
Do you have an extra return between paragraphs, or simply the style has before/after spacing to paragraphs?
If you have an extra return in Pages '09 you can search and replace double returns to single returns.
Since Apple removed this ability from Pages 5, you will need to clean up your text elsewhere, in TextEdit, TextSoap or LibreOffice [free].

Why doesn't pc play the format .dv but it plays on my mac! What do I do?
Hey guys
I need to capture a dv tape to my mac but also use it on my pc but when I set the settings to capture in FCP, it works fine on my mac but when I play it on the pc it says "this format is unrecognized.
How can I get a basic avi format that will play on the pc. I chose the avi divx format but the program premiere on the pc doesn't support it. I know, i'm only using premiere because of school.
I know there's two formats for dv, the dv codec with .dv file extension and the dv codec with .avi extension. PC uses the .avi extension, how can I do this.
That's basically what I want, to play original dv format from my tape on a pc!
Any help would be greatI've run into that problem before, and it seems like the problem was that the .dv format is actually a dv stream. I think that it has audio and video that aren't not married or interleaved. It also may be a codec that is FCP only. You probably need to use a .mov extension and use the dvcpro codec 48 khz audio. That should open up on a pc fine.

I'm hoping to sync iCal via my four apple devices through the iCloud.
Unfortunately, I used two different Apple IDs when setting up the iCloud accounts on the devices.
How can I change the Aplle ID associated with my iPhone so that it's the same one used for my iPad and desktop?
When I go to settings and iCloud in the iPhone, the apple ID that appears is greyed-out and will not let me click on it to change it.
Any suggestions?To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the other ID. When you delete the account it will prompt you about what to do with the iCloud data. If you need to migrate it and merge it with the data in the new account choose Keep on My iDevice; then choose Merge to upload the data and merge it with the new account. If your data is already in the other account and you don't need to migrate it to the other account, choose Delete from My iDevice.

I am going to drop my Mac mail account
and use inbox.com. My cable company is Comcast. Can I use the Mac Mail Icon to bring in emails from Inbox.com? Or Gmail....
Thanks !!!
SPComcast, like a growing number of ISPs, blocks port 25.
Comcast Port 25 info
So whoever you choose to host your email, make sure they allow smtp connection on port 587, or some port other than 25. (Gmail does)

I recorded a simple action in Photoshop CC on one of my photos, to create a frame/border, by adding a stroke, inverting it, using content aware to fill, and deselect, which gives me a nice little frame.
I created it on an image of ice on moss, and it did just fine.
I then opened a second image (and third and fourth different image) and ran the action, and instead of using the frame in the same position, it enlarged it and went out of the image by about 1000%!
Any thoughts?
Paul.We do no know what you recorded. Please expand your Action in the Action Palette so you can read all the steps and setting recorded for your action. Capture the screen and show us your action. Here I load Adobe Sample Frames action set. and expanded the set you can see there are many steps and would many screen captures. Or you could save your actions as a text file an post that.
