The url that gives me the problem - http://forum.java.sun.com/myrewards.jspa which is the "My Duke Stars" menu item.
Yup: I can access that page since a couple of weeks again.I stopped sending Feedback on this to Sun about 4 weeks ago because I got the feeling that Sun just don't believe that I have a problem.
If you are watching this post Sun - BELIEVE ME, WHEN I TRY TO ACCESS 'My Duke Stars' I GET THE RESPONSEServer Error

    Is my iPhone 4 greyed out wifi and non working bluetooth software or hardware... seems that the forums are full of this issue with no consistent or official answer. is it all coincidence that so many are having the problem? Please help... I have scoured the net trying everything the last few days.

    Please correct your porfile: iPhone 4 do not have IOS 6.1.4.
    The usual troubleshooting steps are, also remember to test it after every step:
    1. Restart
    2. Reset
    3. Restore from backup
    4. Restore as new.

  • Looks like the Forums are out today???

    I can't get any Forums to show today's post on any PC's or Phones.
    Are the Forums Down today???
    Chris Ward

    Nope, hopefully we'll get some kind of explanation about what happened but I'm not really holding my breath.
    I had emailed the forums team about this yesterday and haven't heard anything back from them.

  • Well the forums are really boned now!

    The DB is boned. Or something.
    I have posted replies into multiple threads. Many of these replies are not appearing. The threads move to the top of the forum like they have been replied to but no reply is shown.
    Refreshing sometimes some of these threads show that they do have replies. Sometimes not.
    And which ones show to have replies and which one's don't keep changing.
    There is something seriously awry here.
    And the performance is beyond terrible. I might as well have a 33.6 modem to connect here for all the speed.

    Refreshing sometimes some of these threads show that they do have replies. Sometimes not.
    And which ones show to have replies and which one's don't keep changing.Same for me, I thought Opera might be loading from cache, but it was the same after clearing the cache. Only just now I saw 10 responses on a thread I responded to hours ago, refreshed and got 14... mine was at #11. And I had to refresh 7-8 times just to view 2 responses on the CLDC/MIDP forum.
    I'm hesitant to post any useful response to any questions as I really don't know whether the problem is already solved.
    Looks like Sun has maximum job security... or maybe they can't afford a proper team. The entire lot deserve the sack.

  • Links on the forum are broken

    Don't know if anyone else has noticed, but links on the forum seem to be broken.
    e.g. Google
    Is this some user specific setting that I've accidentally activated, or has the forum lost some functionality?

    It just seems like Richard is not using the right way to embed a URL in the forum which is something like this:
    Oracle UI Shell Functional Pattern
    basically [ then url= and here the url then ] the some text and then a closing tag which is [ followed by / and url and ]

    Not really, just the server dying and everyone here who doesn't have a life rioting. You know, every day stuff.
    Figures, same old "problem" ... but hey if we don't get our daily fix we are bound to go crazy

  • Okay, don't change the forums anymore!

    No, really.  I think it's actually...... functioning correctly in the new version of Opera 10.51  (PJ confirm?  I know you got it installed, hehe.)  when running under Mask as Firefox mode.  Exciting, isn't it?  It's fast too!!!  (Although, that's probably more thanks to Opera than anything.)  Opera > Chrome again!
    The forums are still mickey mouse point-counting silly places, but I think I can live with that.  I may have to retire from serious anti-Jive campaigning until the next version comes out to break things again...
    Hope I don't find any unexpected bugs, but it seems we can change the forum (decent) compatibility list to:
    Chrome
    Opera

    If you are talking about the extra linerfeeds/carriage returns introduced by the software, the cure is to type Enter twice before starting to write your message. Workaround posted by Curt Y.
    Hmm, that might be changing the behavior slightly but even after doing that (in Opera) hitting enter on a line of text isn't doing what it normally does on Planet Earth.  Still in Planet Jive mode it seems!  Not quite sure yet what the text box rules are for "enter twice" mode.
    Still I think I'll be going back to Chrome again (until that breaks too), as I have no desire for developing bizarre obsessive-compulsive habits before I start typing in every text box I see.
    And people wonder why I damn JavaScript and AJAX hacks to the hells for all eternity...

  • Good luck with the forum + ePub feature request

    Good idea about the new forum! I'm sure it will thrive.
    EPub creation in InDesign has advanced by leaps and bounds. Last week I created a fairly heavily illustrated fiction ePub out of InDesign in "one sitting", and -- amazingly -- without having to touch the resulting ePub in an external editor!  (This was a book that I had typeset for print in InDesign as well, so of course that makes it easier.) Just a little custom CSS, and some custom paragraph styles and object export settings. I think that's great, and thanks to Douglas Waterfall who is clearly doing an amazing job, plus is very attentive to listening to users' requests and ideas.
    Avoiding the use of an external editor is in my opinion very desirable, and currently, InDesign's Achilles heel when it comes to that is the navigation pane. The navigation pane is constructed according to a TOC that the user has created in InDesign, but not everything can be created with an InDesign TOC.
    On the most basic level, chapters in the actual ePub might be formatted as so:
    CHAPTER 1
    Trains
    CHAPTER 2
    Planes
    CHAPTER 3
    Automobiles
    ... but in the nav. pane, one would prefer:
    1. Trains
    2. Planes
    3. Automobiles
    As far as I'm aware, the only way to achieve that currently is by opening up the ePub after export with an external editor and editing the nav pane manually.
    So if InDesign could offer some way to have more flexibility with that, and avoid the need to edit externally, that would be great.
    Ariel
    PS And of course, some sort of live preview when editing for ePubs in InDesign is also crucial.
    PPS I still can't help wondering if a separate Adobe ePub editor wouldn't be better than foisting it all on InDesign. Obviously, this ePub editor should be able to open InDesign files.

    The forums are a work in progress, and we all have a say in its shaping.
    You have a wonderful positive attitude, Pierre, but two things:
    1.  They shouldn't be a work in progress - they should be polished and complete.  As it is it gives people the impression that the company's products are unpolished and lacking in function.
    2.  We may have a say, through threads like this one, but it rarely seems to make any difference.  Again that seems to reflect Adobe's overall current philosophy for product development and release...  Consider the fact that they virtually always plan to release what they already have built - even though people may feed back many problem reports during beta testing.  It happened with the Photoshop CS6 beta, it happens with the Camera Raw betas, and we have this forum software that, despite being released in an unfinished state, isn't being actively modified per anyone's requests.
    There's only one good reason for exposing unfinished software - to solicit feedback to help find what's unfinished and prioritize what needs to be done to finish it.
    It's not working, Adobe.
    Hello?  Is this thing on?

  • Login Issues at the Forum

    If I try to enter the forum area, it rejects my login with no error message. I've tried my VZ account creds and my forum creds. However, if I go to verizon.net, I can log in there and then click my way to the forum area. What's up with that???

    Check your FF options/settings to see if you've enabled a notification when the page tries to redirect.  If that box is ticked, untick it and try again.
    If a forum member gives an answer you like, give them the Kudos they deserve. If a member gives you the answer to your question, mark the answer that solved your issue as the accepted solution.

  • Why are my soft proofed prints always too dark in the dark areas and why are the colors, especially red, washed out.

    Use a calibrated camera and monitor. Work in PS CC. Have a controlled work room. Soft proof according to Jeff Schewe of the 'Luminous Landscape'. Printing on a new Epson r2880 with a custom profile. Use fresh Epson Luster paper. The problem keeps persisting no matter what I do. Any and all help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Please turn off your auto reply in your emails.  The forums are designed to be used through a web browser while logged in to the forum.  We don't need to see stuff like your "On Sun, Oct 12, 2014 at 10:50 PM, station_two <[email protected]>".  Everybody sees everyone's post.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Now, did they first send you a target file which you then printed on your particular printer using your intended paper and inks, then snail-mailed the print to them in California in order for them to make your custom printer profile for you, which they then in turn emailed to you?   If that was not the case, you do not have a custom profile at all, but a meaningless stock one.  Even if they used a printer model exactly like yours when they created the profile, it was not done on your particular unit and therefore is not valid.
    On the other hand, if the procedure above was indeed followed correctly, then that custom printer profile is showing you exactly what your images will look like once you print them.
    That's precisely what soft proofing is for, so you can adjust your image while in Proof view.
    Hope this clears it up for you.
  • Fix the forums already.
    Hi,
    Why are forums so slow? This happens pretty much every week at some point of time. My guess would be that the forums database is very poorly designed.
    Also, if a person has around 50 watches, it takes forever to open them up ( and this is when the forums are fairly faster).
    How come that this thing happens so often. I mean, doesn't anybody run AWR reports (assuming it is running on 10g) and see where and why the database seems to be hanging.
    If I didn't get it right and the slowness is because of the forums frontend software itself then, I think Oracle should look for another vendor to provide them with the software.
    I would expect a better response from world's best RDBMS vendor. Please note that these comments are out of frustation.
    It would help if you could provide the precise times of the day you are experiencing it.Yesterday evening, between 6:00pm and 11:00pm (french time), a refresh of page on a forum (thread list) took more than 1 or 2 minutes (even more sometime).
    Nicolas.
  • Save the forums
    Unless you want to be thrown back into the nightmare for good, this is the time to defend the way the forums are. Read on here and join the survey:
    Jacob Bugge, "Something is happening" #181, 6 Mar 2008 2:46 pm
    I took the "Adobe Forums Survey" (link above the topic post) a couple days ago and said my fill regarding the failed forum change and praised them on their wisdom in returning to the current format.
    I'm agreeing with those who hate the "cfusion" pages. SUCK!
  • What happened to the forums?
    Anyone else? The forums are totally hosed right now for me... hope Adobe isn't planning on keeping this new format... it's quite terrible.
    Yeah, they have been doing some updates to the format.   Kinda hard to comment without being insulting or sarcastic towards whoever is responsibile for the mess that has been piling up... they tend to be in denial when it comes to criticism.  If you want to let 'em know, head over to the Forum Comments forum...
  • Are there two bugs in the forums?
    1. The forums only seem to list who opened the original question, not who last posted. To keep track of my own replies, I need to see who last posted. How to do this? (It used to be there before they redesigned).
    2. Similarly, how do I get to see only UNREAD posts, not have to start again from the top?
    For best ASC forum results Use Hiroto's changes.  See items 6 below.
    There is a missing column.  Was four columns ( ??? ) now only three.  They reduced the lettering size to get more information on the line.  I guess you could say they are listening, but can get over that they are wrong about the layout.
    With the real thing:
    https://discussions.apple.com/people/rccharles/content?filterID=participated
    Does show last poster. It's worded as by ....  Bit misleading by it's ASC.
    Discussion lists do not.
    Here is my ASC work flow...
    1) I login.
    2) Block the automatic 30 minute logout.
         Unless you do something every thirty minutes you get logged out.  The forum software waits to tell you this as long as it can to keep you in suspense  ;-) . Filling out a reply is the exception to the thirty minute window.
            Start an auto reloader. Thanks to ChitlinsCC.
    Safari = SafariTabReloader
    Firefox = ReloadEvery: "Reload web pages automatically"
    Others = Reloaders | Cerberus - Support Center
    You need to pick a page that will reload over time without stalling out. It's ASC.  I've found my profile display the best to use. I get my Profile page after some  logins.  It's ASC.  Change rccharles to your apple id.
    https://discussions.apple.com/people/rccharles?view=discussions
    Reply technique
    Open a new browser window.  Pick some discussion.  Open a reply window.  As long as this reply window is open, you will stay logged in.  The 30 minute times is reset as needed by the ASC software.
    3) I open another window to do my normal ASC browsing.
    4) I have a FireFox bookmark to goto the discussions that I have participated in. I've modified it to add on the content stuff.
             turingtest2 recommends. Change rccharles to your apple id:
    https://discussions.apple.com/people/rccharles/content?filterID=participated~obj ecttype~objecttype%5Bthread%5D
    5) Use turingtest2's generated links with the /content suffix as browser bookmark to the ASC discussions:
    Site map of Communities and Categories
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2463
    6) Adjust the ASC web page layout.
    For FireFox
    I run with Hiroto's modification to user content.  This is the only way these forums are readable for me.  How to adjust the format and layout of ASC Web Pages:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-7501
    For Safari
    "ASCPowerTools is a Safari Extension designed to give more control"
    http://www.etresoft.com/ascpowertools
    7) Read and answer my old posts.  I kind of memorize the time I last posted. ( It's way bad that apple eliminated the last poster to a thread. )
    8) I use tabbed browsering.  From a list of discussions, hold down the command key then click on the link. You get two tabs this way. The original window will keep where you have been.
  • Are the forum bugs geting worse (if that's possible) ?
    {color:#000080}For several days now, we have been facing the Mystery of the Null Posts -- respond, click Post, see nothing.
    db{color}Oh delightful.
    Expect this to get worse before it gets better.
    Once upon a time (about 2 years ago now... I think it was the fall of 2005) there was a similar problem. Posts would routinely go missing. Then eventually some threads couldn't be posted into at all. Then whole forums couldn't be posted into.
    Eventually (after about 3 weeks) one could only post into a few of the stupid forums (J2SE CAP comes to mind, maybe another one or two).
    And it carried on like this for about a week while I carried on conversations mainly with myself in the stupid forums and nobody else posted.
    It was fun.
    Eventually after about a week I delivered a bitter diatribe on the state of the forums and the fact that nobody could actually post anywhere and after a couple of more days it got fixed.
    As an aside in my diatribe I told them (Sun) where they could shove it (it being these forums) and that I wanted my account deleted because I didn't want to be associated with their shittiness. And that's how I became cotton.m
