The front camera on my iPad locks up when I try to use it. The entire camera app locks up until I do a reset in settings. I have done the manual reset as well as a restore and it still locks up. I want to use Facetime and Skype. How do I fix?

If you restored the iPad to factory settings and the camera still locks up, you may have a hardware problem and it may be time to get Apple involved.
If it was just Skyoe, I would suggest deleting the app and reinstalling, but you can't delete FaceTime.
Can you use the camera otherwise - meaning to take photos and videos - front and back facing both work?

Have you tried closing the Camera app completely and seeing if it works when you re-open the app ? From the home screen (i.e. not with Camera 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If neither fix it then you could try contacting Apple.

After Effects locks-up when I try to use preference submenu

I have an issue with After Effects "freezing" or locking up when I try to use any sub-command under the "Preferences" menu. Any guidance fixing this would be greatly appreciated. I have a quad-core Intel PC with 8 gig of memory. The applications are installed on a 2 Tb drive. I don't think memory or space is an issue.

Since upgrading to Windows 8, Firefox locks up when I try to use it, can anyone suggest why please?

We had to download Firefox once we had installed Windows 8. Although we now have a Firefox tile on the new Windows desktop, to enable access to Firefox, whenever we click on it to go to Firefox, we get the option to select Firefox as our default browser. Whether we say Yes or No, the screen then locks up and we have to use Control, Alt and Delete to close it.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Why do the colours from Adobe Color Theme creation change when I try to use them?

I've been exploring the Adobe Color Theme creator in InDesign. There are the three tabs: Create, Explore, My Themes. In the create tab I can create a theme of colours, get the combination just right, and then save my new theme. However as soon as I save any colour out to the swatches, the colour changes! It's driving me nuts.
[Original Colour] -Colour it comes out as-
[green turquoise] -prussian blue-
[strong, bright red] -darkish orange-
[warm purple] -faded dark mauve-
My best guess was that maybe the colour profile of the document was set to CMYK and that the colour themes work in RGB, but as far as I can determine it's just "North America General Purpose 2" and the Working Spaces include both RGB and CMYK. Therefore I'm stumped. I do not have the expertise to figure out what is going on and these are significant colour changes to have a really strong, vibrant colour palette turn into something much more muted.
And if this piece of information is of any use, my yellow doesn't seem to change at all.
Any ideas please? I've tried searching for it, but maybe I'm not putting in the right combination of keywords. Hopefully I'm just being obtuse and someone will tell me to put a checkmark in a box somewhere.

There are some slight value changes between the Theme and the Swatches, but we're only talking a change of 1 or 2 and so the colours appear to stay true now. Total pain to have to do this extra little step every time. =)
a huge, glaring, and sloppy problem which really ought to be fixed by Adobe pronto.
You can batch change the color mode of swatches if you select all of the swatches and double click them. Or, you can simply leave the Lab values and let the conversion to the correct CMYK space happen when you export to PDF.
I'm guessing the fix won't be coming soon. The original Kuler app had the same color management problem. It's hard to see how they will fix it and keep Color Themes as a cloud based web app.
When you convert the Lab swatches the CMYK values you get will depend on the document's assigned profile, so if you make two document's with different profiles assigned you'll get different CMYK values when you convert the Lab values. Here is US SWOP vs US SNAP

Is there a way to wake an ipad up by detecting motion with the front camera?

I am using the iPad for an HMI Display To control a machine and want it to be able to wake up from sleep just by detecting motion with the front camera rather than having to push any buttons on the iPad, is this even possible?

No apple store, or Best Buy or anything like that. Again, she lives in a very remote area. The closest stores are roughly 6 hours away. I suppose she can go to a friends house that has a computer but then she is setting up her ipad on someone else's computer. Since she's been able to use the thing out of the box (and without a computer) for over a year, we were just hoping to this without the need of a computer. I guess we will just have to wait for her next visit to us in the city.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe!

How do I remove the "mirror" image on the front camera?

After I take photos on the front camera to say a "selfie" the image is then flipped and saved. I research online and people say it's what the camera sees (like looking into a mirror) and that's how we really look in real life but I can prove this to not be true!! Here is why, I have a beauty mark on my face on the left side and when I take a selfie my iPhone saves it to show it on the right!! And when I look into an actual mirror it's obviously on left where it should be not on the right!! IS THERE a way to remove this on the new iPhone?!? I noticed that all of the selfies I had taken with Instagram were reversed. This was odd to realize; I have had the phone for a month, and when I see a reversed selfie it looks normal to me ... I part my hair on the left, and I didn't notice that all of my avatars for things had my hair parted on the wrong side. I was reviewing some Facebook photos and it was very obvious that some of my pics have my hair parted on the wrong side. So I played around a bit. With the built in camera app, when I am framing a selfie, it sure would be awkward to try to center yourself in the picture if the image wasn't reversed. I've had devices with front-facing cameras where you could un-reverse the image, and it is quite disorienting to try to center yourself. So I get WHY the image is reversed (one of the reasons at least). I noticed too that when I snap the selfie with the built-in camera app, that the picture un-mirrors as it takes. There is a brief animation as the image flips side-to-side.
For me and my phone/situation, it is when I use Instagram to take pictures from the front-facing camera. Instagram just seems to grab the actual image from the screen, and not do the un-mirroring that the built in photo app uses. So, my solution is to not use the Instagram app to snap the actual selfie, but to use the built in phone app to take it, then afterwards I open the photo in instagram and do my tweaking. Just slightly less than elegant for now, I am hoping that a future Instagram update will give you control on whether to un-mirror the front-facing camera. But I see this as my phone working correctly, and the app itself being the thing that is buggy. In my case.

I can not switch to the front camera on my iTouch 4g.

I have owned two 4th Generation Ipod Touches. After having both for over half a year, their front cameras will not work. I do not usually use the front camera. When I attempt to switch to the front camera from the Camera App (or from the Lock Screen) the Camera/Video button begins to flicker and the screen will either show the shutter or blackness. When attempting to switch the camera on Instagram, it notifies me that there was an error launching the camera. on my oldest device I was able to restart the Ipod and the front camera would work for a while before I would be required to restart it again. My newest device used to be the same way, but now it will not be fixed by restarting/shutting down/reebooting the device.
Other Details:
1st Ipod: Dropped- Front camera shattered and top left corner of Ipod cracked; Screen turned completely white when device was cold; Glass replaced once
2nd Ipod: Dropped- Bottom left corner dented and one thin line arching from corner to right side through the screen; Slow in taking pictures (back camera)
If this is a software problem, I would like to know if it can be fixed with at-home fixes.
If this is a hardware problem, must the entire devie be replaced or just the glass?

If you restored to factory settings/new iPod and still have the problem then it is a hardware problem.
I suspect that replacing the screen will not fix the camera problem unless the problem is due to a loose connection since replacing the screen could restore that connection.

If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tapping Settings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash; try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
Try turning the iPad off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try switching between the front and the back cameras to verify if the issue persists on both.
