"The Game Cannot Be Launched"

This error message has occured about 3 times in the three months that I've own my ipod classic. It only occurs when I click to play Klondike the solitare game. The message states: "This game cannot be launched. This may be the result of a full iPod. For more information, please visit http://apple.com/support/ipod" When this message happens, my screen freezes and I'm unable to click anything and usually the current song that is playing continues until the song ends and then no more music plays. This is a frustrating and annoying occurance. I'm just not sure if there is something more I can do. I've resetted the entire ipod back to factory settings once and I'm not sure if I should just go back to the apple store and see if they can fix it or exchange it.

Try a hard reset.  To do this, toggle the hold switch on and then off, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  This may or may not work the first time around, so don't be afraid to try it more than once.

  • My ipod classic is stuck on 'this game cannot be launched' ....as a result of a full ipod. the ipod is not full and i cannot do anythink with it.please help. thanks ceetee45.

my ipod classic is stuck in the 'this game cannot be launched'mode.as a result i cannot use it for any think.it is not full.
    thanks for your help.

Try resetting the device. The hard drive may not be full, but the device RAM might be. If resetting doesn't work then perhaps you have many large playlists and these are reducing the amount of free RAM for games.

  • "this game cannot be launched" and ipod is frozen

Ipod says, "this game cannot be launched" and ipod is frozen.  it is a 160 gig clasic.  any thoughts?

Usually a hard reset takes care of this issue.  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
    Any luck there?

  • "This game cannot be launched"

I just got my new 120 GB iPod Classic 3 days ago. I was listening to it all day and when I sat down and tried to play solitaire, the iPod froze up and gave me an error that said "This game cannot be launched. This may be the result of a full iPod."
The iPod is NOT full. It won't turn off or go back to the menu. I tried holding down the center button and toggling the hold button but nothing has changed. Help?

Reset the iPod by holding down Menu+Select for about 6 seconds. Like rebooting your computer this should clear out the iPod's working memory and allow it enough room to launch the game. I while ago I found that a large(ish) number of complex smart playlists seemed to trigger similar problems which ceased when I reduced & simplified the playlists that I put on the iPod.

  • "iPod game cannot be launched"

Alright, so today I went to open the game "Klondike" and got a screen that says "This game cannot be launched. This may be the result of a full iPod." then directed me to the support page (which, STRANGELY, was of little to no help...). The screen hasn't changed for 6 hours, it hasn't even indicated any loss of battery power. I can't turn it off or go back to the menu. Nothing happened when I plugged it into the computer, and when I finally managed to get iTunes to open it displayed a message saying "iTunes detects a problem with the device" or something and won't recognize iPod. iPod was working fine all day until I decided to play that dumb game! It just doesn't make sense.... sigh
Any ideas or info or whatever would be appreciated.

The duct tape solution here is just to manually reset your iPod. If it has a scroll wheel, just hold down the menu and select buttons simultaneously for 5-10 secs. and you should reboot the thing. If nothign happnes, hold it for longer. If there still isn't any result, you'll have to wait until the battery dies, and then reconnect it to your machine.
I'm surprised that iTunes wouldn't stop you from loading too much stuff onto the unit. It usually reserve enough space under the "other" category to take care of virtual memory space.
    Good luck.

  • "This game cannot be launched... Please Reinstall..." -Help. Please.

Alright. So I just recently got some games off the internet for my 4th generation iPod Nano and i installed it and it synced just fine to my ipod. Everything seemed to work up until i actually tried to play the game.
When I clicked it an error message came up saying:
+"Error. This game cannot be launched.+
+Connect you iPod to iTunes and reinstall the game.+
+For more info, please vist: http://apple.com/support/ipod/"+
I went there, it obviously didn't work.
I've researched this problem everywhere and trying different methods such as restarting the ipod (center+menu), unsynching and syncing back in, going onto another account and installing there. Nothing seems to work and i have no idea what to do. I really want these games. :\

I am having the same trouble. Games work fine after I sync at my home computer. But after I have plugged it into my computer at work, i get the same message - "game cannot be launched". Then I have to plug it in at home, uninstall the games, and reinstall them. Then everything works fine. This has happened four times now, and plugging it in at work, where I obviously do not have the games on my computer, seems to be the problem. I think Apple needs to come up with a patch for this.

  • "This game cannot be launched error" iPod Classic 160 Gb

I have an iPod Classic, 160 Gb. I purchased Sudoku from the iTunes store.
The game downloaded to my computer; and it shows in the iPod Games tab.
It appears to sync to the iPod, but in the iPod's games menu there is no icon for the game (just the black and white dice). When I try to play the game, I get the "This game cannot be launched error" with the prompt to reinstall the game.
Are there any fixes for this? I've tried all the troubleshooting in the support docs, and nothing seems to work.

Thanks for your suggestions; however none of them worked.
I contacted technical support, and the only suggestion they had for me was to request a refund - because for some reason, unknown to them, the game doesn't work on my iPod.
I'm not generally a ranter - I try to be polite to people, in person, on the phone, online - wherever, but I have to say that in my experience, Apple seems to have the worst support of any company with which I have ever dealt.
After being told no less than eight times, by five different representatives from iTunes support, I was referred to technical support, who told me in essence, "tough cookies" (although the representative certainly didn't say that, he was quite polite).
I had to double check that I was talking to "technical" support.
I've been a faithful iPod user for many years; but this experience has certainly soured me. I will have to think long and hard before buying another Apple product if the support I have experienced is indicative of a typical support instance.
    Thanks again for your suggestions.

  • HT1339 Error: This game cannot be launched. Ipod will not respond

I have an error message on my iPod classic.  It states, Error:  This game cannot be launched.  And now my iPod wheel will not respond.  I am unable to shut it down or connect it to my iTunes.

Try a hard reset.  This procedure does not erase any content stored on the device. It is similar to rebooting your PC.  To reset the iPod, first make sure the hold switch is in the Off position, then press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • I have been running Firefox on my PowerPC G5 for years and have just tried to install 4.0. When I attempt to start Firefox, a window opens telling me the application cannot be launched. I have installed it twice with the same result. What gives?

I have a PowerPC G5 quad core Mac with a pre-intel chip. I have been running Firefox successfully for over five years and have used every version in operation during that time. Tonight, I received notice that the latest version of 3.6 was ready to install and that I needed to restart. I did that and was taken to a page telling me that 4.0 was available for downloading and use. So I downloaded the new 4.0 and tried to install it in the typical Mac fashion. After clicking on the dmg, I dragged the icon into my applications folder and onto the dock. But when I click on the icon on the dock, I get the message: The application cannot be launched. 10661
When I try to launch by double clicking in the applications folder, I get the message: You cannot open the application Firefox because it is not supported on this system.
I had to go to your site using Safari of all things! I tried re-installing it with another download, and that one misbehaves in the same way. By the way, in case it matters, I still have 42 GB available on my hard drive and 5 GB of RAM.
There is one other funny thing. The Firefox icon from the disk image has a white circle with the slash through it on top of the fox and world symbol. That is what appears in my applications folder and in my dock. It appears to be saying NOT FIREFOX, as it would indicate in a NO U-TURN sign. What is this all about?

I have had a similar problem with my system. I just recently (within a week of this post) built a brand new desktop. I installed Windows 7 64-bit Home and had a clean install, no problems. Using IE downloaded an anti-virus program, and then, because it was the latest version, downloaded and installed Firefox 4.0. As I began to search the internet for other programs to install after about maybe 10-15 minutes my computer crashes. Blank screen (yet monitor was still receiving a signal from computer) and completely frozen (couldn't even change the caps and num lock on keyboard). I thought I perhaps forgot to reboot after an update so I did a manual reboot and it started up fine.
When ever I got on the internet (still using firefox) it would crash after anywhere between 5-15 minutes. Since I've had good experience with FF in the past I thought it must be either the drivers or a hardware problem. So in-between crashes I updated all the drivers. Still had the same problem. Took the computer to a friend who knows more about computers than I do, made sure all the drivers were updated, same problem. We thought that it might be a hardware problem (bad video card, chipset, overheating issues, etc.), but after my friend played around with my computer for a day he found that when he didn't start FF at all it worked fine, even after watching a movie, or going through a playlist on Youtube.
At the time of this posting I'm going to try to uninstall FF 4.0 and download and install FF 3.6.16 which is currently on my laptop and works like a dream. Hopefully that will do the trick, because I love using FF and would hate to have to switch to another browser. Hopefully Mozilla will work out the kinks with FF 4 so I can continue to use it.
I apologize for the lengthy post. Any feedback would be appreciated, but is not necessary. I will try and post back after I try FF 3.16.6.

  • The Finder Cannot Be Launched -600 error

Hi, when Os X 10.5 freezes (everytime since I installed it), whatever application I am using freezes, and when I chosse Force Quit, nothing happens. When I choose Relaunch Finder, I get "The Finder Cannot Be Launched -600 error" and I have to power off my Mac & turn the power back on.
Any help on how to get through 1 day with 10.5 working would be appreciated.

    Hello Ben:
You might try something easy - trash the finder preference file (com.apple.finder.plist) and restart. Sometimes corrupt preference files cause strange behavior.

  • The application cannot be launched -10810

I just started getting the following error message on my iMac Core Duo:
The application "Firefox, Address Book, System Preferences --insert app name here" cannot be launched -10810
This seems to happen after the Mac has been running for a while (a day or so), and restarting it seems to fix the problem. But, it's annoying that it continues to happen. When it does, I can use the programs that are already open, but I cannot launch any new programs. Many other functions, such as simply double clicking a printer to open its dialog box, just don't do anything.
I've had other problems with the Mac freezing up and needing to hold down the power button for several seconds to restart it. I don't know if it's related. I've had the Mac sicne not long after the Intel models were released, is it possible that over the last several months I've gotten some non Rosetta/non Intel friendly software that's causing problems?
    Thanks,
iMac Core Duo 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Intel, 256MB Video Card, 1.5GB Ram
iMac Core Duo 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

That error message means that you have too many applications and processes open on the iMac. Turning off Windows File Sharing from the Sharing pane of System Preferences except when you need it turned on will help. Otherwise, the next time you restart, open the Activity Monitor in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder immediately and keep an eye on what it reports while you work.

  • "Game cannot be launched as a result of a full Ipod"?

I had my 80GB on shuffle, and while it was going I went to play solitaire. It's now frozen on a screen that says, "This came cannot be launched. This may be the result of a full iPod."
My iPod is about a quarter to a third of the way full, memory-wise.
None of the buttons change the screen, and I plugged it into my computer (which runs on Windows 7), but nothing was recognized.
    Any ideas?

    Hello there,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Have you tried a simple reset of the iPod? To do this, verify that the hold switch is not set to On, then press and hold the Center and Menu buttons together until the Apple logo appears. You may want to attempt this a few times if no luck the first.
Then also verify that the computer recognizes it.
    Hope this helps.
