The 'Ghost' of Kevin :)

Hello everyone
A bit of an 'odd one', this... I've created a site using the 'Gazette' template. Whenever I hit refresh in the browser (and I've tried this on Safari, Firefox and Camino) the original 'World Of Kevin' title appears before my new title reappears. I've checked and double-checked in iWeb and the original title text is definitely removed.
I've posted an animated gif at http://87.194.32.164/iwebfeature/iwebfeature.htm to illustrate the phenomenon. Has anyone else experienced this, or perhaps have any possible clues about how to eliminate it?
Many thanks in advance

Philliip:
Look under the credit file item in iWeb. I think they may be another text or header box with Kevin in it. You can select that item and do a Send to Back command on them to see if the Kevin box pops up. You might also have to do it to the background image also. Not sure. I've had that before and that's how I got rid of it.

  • Has there been any helpful remedy for the ghost typing issue?

Has there been any helpful remedy for the ghost typing issue? Where the ipad starts typing on its own and screens moving around the screen?
I have had the ipad 1 for a while- and it started about 5 months ago. Anything other than shutting down and leaving alone for hours work?

Yeah, well if you read that whole thread you will see lots of posts identifying it as a hardware problem:
I'm the original poster on this thread. I ended up taking my iPad back to the Apple Store. They ran some diagnostics, and found that my RAM was almost maxed out, which didn't really make sense. It indicated a faulty processor, so they gave me a new iPad. I took it home, synched, and it only took about 45 minutes to synch 30 gigs of data. My original iPad took about 5 hours to synch for the first time. Clearly there was a problem with the processor in the first one, but I didn't realize it at first, as it took several weeks before it started exhibiting the erratic screen behavior. Hope this helps anyone else who might experience this down the line.

So i went to my apple store... which was PACKED. Found a manager and explained my problem. Without any question, they simply replaced it. Awesome!

I have the same problem, and I found out what's wrong, it's not the software - restart, restore and FW upgrade will not help, it's definitely hardware. The best option is to replace your iPad assuming you have an apple store nearby…

Just get your iPad replaced. It has a hardware problem.

  • Can I ask apple store to replace my MBP with Retina display? because I have the ghosting issue with it!

I bought my MBP with Retina display less than two months ago and now I have this problem which the ghost of the application that was open, remains on the background.
I took the device to apple store and they decide to change a harware of it!! now I just feel like it is no going to be repaired.
just wanna know despite that 14 days of purchase date has passed, can I ask apple to replace the whole device and give me a new one or not!

you can ask them, but they are not obligated to fulfill your request.  They are obligated to fix any issues related to defective craftsmanship as long as your mac is under warranty however.

  • Anybody Else Seen The "Ghosts"??

I have just reverted back to a fresh install of 10.5.1, and I am staying here until the ghosts go away. I need an Apple Exorcism!
All joking aside, I installed the 10.5.2 update two times. Once via *Software Update* and once using the *Combo Update* standalone installer. Both on fresh 10.5.1 installs off the DVD.
The standalone installer went much better and caused far less mayhem than the first time around which was causing even Apple apps to crash, but I was still left with the "ghosts".
I am not sure if it is related to the 10.5.2 upgrade or to the *Leopard Graphics Update* but it is very annoying.
Basically on certain darker webpages you can see a "negative" (whitish/gray) reflection of the page/images/mouse pointer you are looking at slightly off to the left. This is happening in Safari/Camino etc. In iChatAV, the same thing happens with the picture-in-picture square having a ghost slightly to the left as well. And I noticed it on the login-panel too after a reboot.
Anyone else seen the ghosts? Hopefully I explained that well enough.

Well after digging a little deeper it seems it is the *Graphics Update* thats causing my issues, and I'm not the only one. Somehow, it doesn't like my non-Apple display I guess, although it's never been an issue before. I put 10.5.2 back in without the graphics update and it installed without a hiccup, and so far no ghosts or shadows.

  • All of my I work programs in iwork won't open and say they are damaged.  Any ideas.  The programs have a white circle with a line through it similar to the ghost busters logo.  Any thoughts?

All of my iworks programs, pages, keynote, and numbers have a white circle with a line through it, kinda like the Ghost Busters logo.  None of the programs will open and the error messages reads that they are damaged.  How do I repair?

What you describe is what we get for apps dedicated to PowerPc only when installed on a macintel machine.
I'm surprised by this behavior for iWork apps which are designed as universal ones.
    How were they installed ?
Did you used the installer or did you borrowed them from an other machine ?
If it's case 2, maybe the device used to move the files was not a HFS+ one.
The only correct way to install iWork is to apply the installer and the late iWork updater.

  • Can I upgrade from the standard destiny pre-order to the ghost edition?

Hey is there anyway I can upgrade my regular Destiny pre-order to the Ghost Edition or will I have to canel my previous preorder to buy the Ghost Edition?

    Hello Treveyon,
Thanks for pre-ordering Destiny at Best Buy! With the recent announcement of the Ghost and Limited Editions of Destiny, it’s no surprise that you’d be inquiring about switching your pre-order. I’ve only recently started really digging into the details of Destiny and I can already tell that this game will likely live up to the hype, and then some!
Kandlestick makes a few pretty good points. First, you would need to cancel your existing pre-order for the standard edition of Destiny and create a new pre-order for the Ghost Edition. However, as Kandlestick also mentioned, you may want to check the availability of the Ghost edition prior to cancelling your current pre-order. To my knowledge, the Ghost version is likely no longer available due to it being very limited in quantity. Click here to see the different versions and their availability.
If you wish to cancel your current pre-order, the method of doing so is determined by how you originally pre-ordered the game. If you pre-ordered on BestBuy.com, log in to your account and pull up the order. You should be able to cancel the pre-order from within the current order details. If you pre-ordered in-store, simply return to the store with your receipt and visit the Customer Service desk.
Please let us know if you have any further questions!

  • Any Update on the "Ghost Folder" Problem

Just wondering if there has been any furhter insight into the "Ghost Folder" problem created after editing in PS CS3 (from LR2)?
Is there any manual way to get the image from the ghost folder to appear back in the proper folder?
    Thanks
    Ken

    Hi Guy,
    Thanks for the reply.
When I edited the image in PS CS3 I saved it to a folder as a .tif (so I could send it to a print lab). When I went back to LR2 the saved tif did not show up in my tif folder so I synchronized that folder and that's when it showed up in the "ghost folder" in LR2. When I look at the original folder of tifs this particualr image doesn't show up. I then tried to move (drag and drop) from the ghost folder into the original tif folder but LR tells me there is already an image there by that name.
So if I manually remove the ghost folder (via LR or in windows) what will happen to the saved tif?
Right now I have PS CS3 set up as the first editor in the preferences, with tif as thw working format. Are you suggesting that PS be set up as the additional editor as well? WHat do I put in the preference for the primary editor?
BTW, I am also working in Win XP Pro.
    Thanks
    Ken

  • It There No Way To Be Rid of the Ghosted "Try iWorks" Menu Option?

I bought a boxed version of iWork 08 and duly registered it. However, the "Try iWorks" menu option is still featured, albeit ghosted.
I understand about the demo/activate nature of the app, but surely I don't need to see its non-existent (at least for me) demo origins every time that menu drops down?
Tell me this will go away with the first iWorks 08 upgrade?
    Kevin Sheridan

    Welcome to the discussions, Kevin.
No way to know if this will be removed. I also registered mine and it seems as though for purchasers of the retail copy, this would never be used anyway (the install for the demo included in iLife was different than the one for the full version, but I'm going to see if both install a "demo").
You can send feedback here though.

  • My Mac Mini Turns on by itself or is it  The Ghost In The Machine?

Lately I have been noticing that my Mac Mini is turning itself on after being off for several hours. At first I thought it might be another member of my household, but when I questioned they all about they all state they did not turn it on. Now unless I have ghost in my house that are big Mac fans I can't figure out why or how it can be turning itself on. As far as I know there have been no power outages in my area that might have caused it to think it needs to be turned on when the power came back in, and besides why would it need to restart after a power outage if it was already off when the power went out and came back on.

Check your Energy Saver settings in System Preferences. Under Schedule there may be a startup time someone set, which is causing it to start up at the odd time of the day.

  • Xorg & Dual Monitors: How to disable the ghost mouse?

As other dual screen users may have noticed, after upgrade to Xorg when you move your mouse between the two workspaces the mouse duplicates, aka it leaves a ghost mouse pointer behind the workspace you just moved the mouse pointer from. Does anyone have an idea how to disable this annoying thing? As a sidenote, this shouldn't be related to Xinerama as I'm using two separate X servers.

I have also found this really annoying. I haven't been able to find anything about it.
Here is a little script to make a single ghost cursor invisible (not really a solution, but if you don't need the mouse on monitor 2 then you only need to run it when you accidentally move the mouse there), if it doesn't work move the mouse a little bit and run it again:
    unclutter -idle 0 & pid=$! ; xwarppointer screen +; sleep 0.5; xwarppointer screen +; kill $pid

  • The GHOST Vulnerability VMware Products

    Good morning,
I have been asked to verify if the recently released Ghost Vulnerability effects any of the VMware products that we have in house. Here are the products that we have:
    ESXi 5.0 - 5.5
vCenter Operations Manager 5.8 (SUSE Linux Enterprise 11)
vCenter Log Insight (SUSE Linux Enterprise 11)
    vCloud Automation Center
VMware Postgres Database Appliance (SUSE Linux Enterprise 11)
vCenter Orchestrator Appliance (SUSE Linux Enterprise 11)
vSphere Management Assistant (vMA) (SUSE Linux Enterprise 11)
Does anyone know if these products are affected? If they are, does VMware have a patch in place to remediate the vulnerability?
    Thanks for your help.

  • How do I totally remove the 'ghost' of mountain lion from my ibook G4? I erased and restored to panther then Snow Leopard but ML still causing problems

I am not very tech savvy but work from home and have used Macs for about 18 years, so know the basics. Have had iBook G4 for almost 5 years, it came with Panther Discs and later added Snow Leopard. Never had even the slightest issue until about 2 months ago. Kept getting "browser no longer supported" on websites and eventually could no longer edit my own Jimdo website or publish on YUDU, so downloaded Mountain Lion and installed it on my iBook.
Straight away it was much slower to start up,  wasn't that keen generally, but used it for 6 weeks hoping I would get used to it. At that point my older Mac Mini (also running on Snow Leopard) died and as I wanted to continue using my printer and scanner (neither had drivers to work with Mountain Lion) I went to Time machine and restored my iBook to the day before I installed Mountain Lion.
iBook was better immediately and started faster again, everything fine for about 3 weeks and then last wednesday my iBook would not come back on. The grey start up window showed the apple and whirly wheel for between 5 to 10 minutes, then just a blank blue screen. I could move the cursor but that was it. Tried to start up again many times, eventually the grey apple was taking up to 15 minutes before the blue screen. Refused to go beyond that blank blue screen when holding down C and starting up from either Panther or Snow Leopard discs or from Disk warrior disc. Disc Warrior and Utilities said nothing was wrong with the hard drive but always showed the HD icon with a yellow exclamation sign over it.
Because of work pressure, after 48 hours with no improvement, I wound up buying a new iMac, so can work but still would love to have my iBook back, plus use of my Printer and scanner again. Last night finally managed to Panther reinstalled after erasing 4 times and many failed attempts at install. Everything seemingly fine but Snow Leopard first reinstall failed so erased once more. Second time SL installed but gave a warning in red saying something to the effect that as I am installing an older OS over a newer one, there will be issues. This leads me to believe that somehow, despite Time Machines and now 5 separate Hard Drive erasures through utilities, Mountain Lion is STILL on there? How on earth can I get rid of it and return just to Snow leopard. Any help really welcomed as I am at the end of my tether but don't want to give up on my old faithful (until now) iBook
PS: Sorry if I post in the wrong section

First, that cannot be an iBook G4 as that machine cannot run Snow Leopard let alone Mountain Lion.  To run Snow Leopard it has to be an Intel processor, not a G4.  What does it show as the Model Identifier in About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Model Identifier?
Second, if you have erased the hard drive there should not be remnants of any prior content.  Even though Disk Warrior is saying nothing is wrong with the hard drive, it sounds as though there are problems.  You may want to consider simply replacing the hard drive so there are no questions about faults.  A good source is OWC, http://www.macsales.com where they also have on-line videos showing how to do the replacement.
Third, you could also try again to restart using the Snow Leopard DVD/CD and use Disk Utility on that install disk to erase again, and do it a couple times, then try to install.  If it continues to refuse, then it sounds as though there is a fault with the hard drive.
