This whole matter is extremely frustrating. There is NO home icon on any toolbar nor under customize so it can't be dragged in. And this running back and forth in the so-called Help that doesn't help is "helpless!" I'm getting nowhere.

You may have a look at the list below. The easy ones are at the top.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Try restoring the iPod, first from backup and then to factory defaults/new iPod. If still problem it is a hardware problem.

File icons are missing from my ML desktop. Name is there but the icon is missing. How do I fix this?

Some of my file icons are missing from the Mountain Lion desktop. The file name is there but not the icon. The file can be opened when the words are double clicked. The files show up properly in Adobe Bridge. These are Photoshop files. How do I fix the problem?

Get Info (cmd-i) on one of these files. In the "Open with" tab is PS selected?
If that's so it may be some corruption LaunchServices.These are only cache files but can get corrupted.
Launch /Utilities/Terminal and copy & paste this at the command line to rebuild LaunchServices:
(EDIT: Be sure to copy the entire line of code it is a slider)

Today I noticed that all my icons are missing from the right hand side of my screen. There is no Wifi, Bluetooth, clock, or Spotlight! How does this happen?!?

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. I updated the latest sofftware from Apple and have received a message - MSVCR80.dll is missing from computer. I tried several times to reinstall but haver the same error message come and now I can't open itunes.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the entry, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.
(Not entirely sure what happens after you click that link, but fingers crossed it should be relatively straightforward.)
