The green light isn't coming on on my airport extreme

I purchased the AirPort Extreme Base station as a recent lightening storm fried my other router.  I have followed the directions for the base station and have even been able to hook up to the internet; however, the amber light on the station is still flashing amber.  Help.

The flashing amber can be due to many many reasons.. open airport utility on a Mac (10.7 or later) or iOS device v6 or later and tell us what the errors are.. it will be listed in the summary page when you click the red circle with the number of errors.
Windows version utility is useless now on new AC products. Apple have not released a v6 utility required for windows.

Well the blinking light shows it's charging, however just to make sure.
Reset the SMC, then connect the machine to a power source that doesn't have a lot of other power items on the same lines (in the walls) in the same room and see how it is in the morning.
For instance use a powerline in another spare room that isn't being used as much.

    Hey Annar99,
I found a few articles that might help with the issue you're encountering. These first two are if the Bluetooth keyboard you're using is the one that came with your iMac. The first is a general "how to" for setting up your Apple Wireless keyboard, while the second one is for troubleshooting if the advice in the first article isn't working:
Bluetooth: How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1809
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048
If, on the other hand, you're using a third party keyboard, then I would take a look at the following article's troubleshooting section:
    Bluetooth Quick Assist

    Hope that helps,

I just bought my macbook pro and it's charged up to 100% and is still plugged in but now shows the battery at 98%.  How is this possible when it's plugged in to the charger and the green light is on?

The system regularly lets the battery drop to about 95% when on the charger, then recharges to 100%.  This lets the batery exercise "just a little" all of the time and saves the recharge curcuits from overuse.
    Regualr occurence for me.
Also ... you need to let your battery work at least once per month.  Let it run down to 40%, but not less if you can at all avoid it.  Running thr battery fully dead will shorten the battery life significantly.

my mac's keyboard is not working with my mac.the green light blinks and i cannot get onto my mac. everything on the support questions does not help because i cant go on the mac and i cant sign in

If you can't sign in, then you can't troubleshoot and/or pair the keyboard until after that........ so, for that, you will need to borrow someone's USB wired keyboard in order to get signed in and to the Keyboard Bluetooth Preferences.

  • My IMac has stopped seeing the keyboard. I have changed the batteries and the green light comes on saying it is looking to pair with the IMac but without success. I am left with the IMac switched on and I am unable to enter a password.

I have been using my IMac without a problem when I left it and went back to enter the password the IMac did not see the keyboard. I have changed the batteries and the green light comes up on the keyboard and then starts to flash indicating it is looking for the IMac but nothing happens. I have tried another set of new batteries with the same result. Is there any known problems in this area. The IMac is 5 months old.
    Thank you for any help

What operating system does your iMac have? (please always post your operating system to prevent confustion).
If it's pre-Lion you will have to set Mail up manually:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger

I recently transferred my internet service to another state.I have not yet moved my imac, just my pc laptop. I cannot get my airport extreme wireless router to work. The green light stays lit when everything is connected but I can't connect to the internet. Any suggestions?

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • TS3048 My keyboard will connect wirelessly but my mouse will not. I've put new batteries in the mouse and the green light is blinking but it just won't connect!!! I don't have a 'wired' mouse so I can't get into preferences etc!!! Pls help

My keyboard will connect wirelessly but my mouse will not. I have tried many times, put new batteries in etc. The Bluetooth appears to be on (as the wireless keyboard is working). I don't have a 'wired' mouse so I can't get into preferences etc. Is the mouse dead perhaps? The green light is flickering so it should be ok???
    Thank you for your help
    Sully (frustrated Irishman)

From what you say I would suggest the batteries are not connecting properly.
First, thoroughly clean all contacts, both inside the mouse and the contact points of the batteries.  Use an alcohol based cleaner (whisky will do, hic!)  dampen (not wet) cotton buds for cleaning.
Then check to see if they fit firmly.   If you can shake your mouse and hear things are loose, that will be the batteries.   Check the make.   Apple and Duracell, in that order, are the best batteries.   Where slight undersizing has been reported they are with other than the foregoing.
You can resolve the size problem with appropriate packing but that will always be a makeshift solution.  After, reassemble, turn on the mouse and with luck, away you go.
Hopefully this will solve your problem but in any case let us know how you get on.

  • My ichat video chat isnt working. the green light will come but there is no invatation

    hi
    i need help!

    Hi,
In the iChat Preferences (iChat menu > Preferences > Alerts) you can set a Global Auto Accept (or Decline)
You change the top Down down to be the Invite to be accepted.
You tick the AppleScripts box and then select the Auto Accept in the drop down  (my pic shows other Scripts I use)
You can set any Alert for one Buddy only ("Against a Buddy" as I phrased it earlier)
Highlight a Buddy then do the Get Info keystrokes (CMD + i keys together)
Select Alerts in the panel that appears.
I was asking the Original Poster if they had these set as I cannot think why the green Light would come on but not show the Invite without this set.
The Light does tend to come on as the Invite arrives so it is not the only criteria to look for.
MacBook Pro 4 days old probably mean iChat 6
This means that for any AIM Valid Login it will use port 443
This port is also used by web Browsers for Secure site (Like Logging in here an Apple Discussions) and by some Mail Servers.
It is below the threshold port of 1024 which means it will be open in your routing device.
The iChat Connection Process works across several ports.
The Invite is sent on port 5678 (you can send stuff out through the Mac Firewall and the router without opening ports specifically for this)
iChat then moves to port 16402 as first choice to send an SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) invite to the IP the Visible part of the invite went to.
It is the Buddy's "Reply" (the SIP part) to this that needs to get through your router and to your iChat.
So...  First check the System Preferences > Security > Firewall
If On then go to the Advanced Button (You may need to unlock the Padlock)
In this bit you need to have the "Allow Signed Software" to be enabled and for iChat to be in the list.
DO NOT enable the Stealth option  (It Blocks Pings and iChat sends Pings).
IMAgent is likely to be added by the System when it is needed (it helps iChat and Face Time)
The next step is to check ichat is allowed through your router.
It will be easier if you tells us the Make and Model you are using.
If you know how to access it in a Web Browser you could make sure it is doing UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)

  • The time machine stopped backing up, the green light is on but it says it can't find the disc

The time machine was working perfectly but all of a sudden it stopped backing up.  The green light on the time machine is on and it seems to be functioning correctly (I can access past backups).  It is connected using wi fi.  The message says that the back up disc is not available.  My printer and the internet are also connected wirelessly and they are working OK.

I had the same problem a couple of days ago.
You'll have to Repair disk from Disk Utility on your T/M. But do this over Ethernet not Wifi. Then you 'll have to repair permissions. Once these steps are completed you should restart your Mac.

  • I Have A Solution To The "Green Light Stays On"

One day I unplugged my shuffle from the USB port and the green light would just stay on and the shuffle would not play. Here's how I fixed it.
Leave the shuffle on without recharging it until the green light goes out. If you press the buttons the green light should flash like normal or flash with a small red light underneath it. Here's the important part, make sure the shuffle is always turned OFF before plugging it in to recharge and the problem should not reoccur. If you accidently leave it on when charging, and the problem happens again, just do the above steps. Someone let me know if this works for them also. Thanks.

You have to eject your iPod manually (either in iTunes or on Windows, clicking Safely Remove Hardware in your system tray) if you have it set to disk mode.

    Hi,
Are you seeing an Invite Window ?
Video Invites are normally top centre of your screen and will appear to "float" over any other app you you using.
Audio Only invites are  top and right of the screen.
