The help 'About' dialog shows my system at 37.0.1 but I keep getting "older version of Firefox" messages, even from Mozzila, including an option to download 29!
I tried to send a page and the 'installing social services' sequence required me to update to "at least version 29." However, my system is up to date. I do so religiously.
So I thought I would send a support note to ask about that and the support sequence too fired back a message, "looks like your Firefox is out of date." I captured both that any my version info in the attached graphic.
I have gone through several re-installs to clear this problem but it keeps happening. Why?
I also see in the "educated guesses" of my system, below this note, that your system is showing my FF version as 26.0! Can a resident piece of malware hijack FF that badly to deny the updates from proceeding yet present a dialog that shows me as being on 37.0.1? I'm speculating here as this issue confuses me. By the way, I have used Kaspersky--also up to date--for ages.
And I still was not able to send that page, so over to Chrome/Explorer I must go!

I believe Firefox 4 is Intel only. That means it will not install on a PPC Mac. You can get TenFourFox, which is made for PPCs.

I have downloaded both the 4.5G Adobe Creative Suite 6 package and the 1MB .exe unloader but when I try to open them I keep getting a "problem has occurred while extracting some files," message. That is followed by a "problem has occurred while extracting the archive" message. The error code received is "Exception EAccessViolation in module DesignWebPremium_CS6_LS16(1).exe at 0001B836" This is followed a series of addresses. The extractor will not work when running as administrator either. I do not know what to do. I am using a Windows 8.1 PC, any help?

Thanks for your answer. I'm working my way through the blog, and trying to take all of the steps. Hitman Pro did find 5 trojans, and many remnants of other malware, so hopefully that will help. I'll post again when I've finished trying everything else.
I had already run Malware Bytes, It did not find/remove the sweetim toolbar, but found a different trojan. Something is up with my antivirus I think. -
"Help About" dialog still shows 8.0 after applying 8.0.1 patch

I was wondering if anyone who has successfully applied the patch sees version 8.0.1 in the Help > About dialog box. I updated via the Help > Update option and I did see the update downloaded. I was then asked to close Elements 8 so the patch could be applied which I did. However, how does one know if the patch was successfully applied? How can I access the savestore.js contents if the command about:sessionrestore shows a blank box even for already succesfully used backups?
Is there a recent known problem with the about:sessionrestore command or is there any other way understandable to Firefox 29.0.1 through which recover the information stored in the sessionstore.js files.
It seems the command about:sessionrestore is not capable anymore to read the contents of the sessionstore.js file present in the user profile folder.
The box where windows and tabs should be listed is empty.
I tried to paste a few old sessionstore.js files in the user directory while the firefox.exe process was not active, then opened Firefox again and tried to launch the about:sessionrestore command without any result.
I think the files are not corrupted because I used most of them in other occasions and I stored them in folders not connected to the common use of any process.
Also, I already successfully used the about:sessionrestore command in Firefox 29.0.1 in a few other occasions.
I did a "clean reinstall" of Firefox 29.0.1 and the box contained in the tab where about:sessionrestore is executed is still empty even if the files themselves contain such information as tabs location and html addresses.
After this I recovered the profile data I had stored in another folder and this is what you can see attached to this question.

itunes error message "file cannot be found..." I know the file is somewhere since I find it when I do a system search and it plays, but can't get itunes to see it. Any help?

I had an imap account in my iPad and my iPhone 4. They worked just fine till about Christmas. They act like they are checking the mail and it shows there is mail to come in, but it just goes back to saying checking mail. Can't send mail either.

To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
So this fix worked for me.
After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.

Just curious on the location of the user agent string for Firefox 4. I don't want to edit or change it, I just want to view it. In previous versions of Firefox, it was in the Help-About menu. It doesn't appear to be located in this spot for Firefox 4.

I think as drive capacities increase, the old 10-15% becomes less accurate. The amount of free space you need doesn't really have anything to do with the drive size. So, increasing your drive size shouldn't mean that you need to have more free GB (which using a % of drive space would mean). You need free space to accommodate page outs (the amount of which would depend on how much RAM you have installed and how memory intensive the applications are), sleep images (again, this would max out at your total amount of RAM), and a bit to minimize fragmentation.
With desktop drives commonly in the 2TB range today, it is certainly not necessary to have 200GB+ free in order to maintain proper operation. I generally find about 30GB to be the minimum I'm comfortable with. Mind you, I pretty much always have way more than that available. But, if I'm working on a system and the amount of free space is at least 30GB, I would generally not site drive space as the cause of any performance issues. I'd say that 30GB is a minimum for a stable system (with 8GB or RAM installed). Of course at that amount, you would still need to free up space if you were to want to install or download any significant amount of data.
With servers being more likely to run into the 16GB of RAM range, more storage would be necessary. Most servers should be well stocked with storage, but the actual needs would vary greatly depending on what's being "served".
The 10-15% thing came about when we used to talk about drive capacities in hundreds of MBs and RAM in terms of KB (not MB and certainly not GB). More drive space is always a good thing, but as drive capacities continue to sky rocket, we don't need to dedicate larger amounts of storage on systems with the same specifications. A set amount of space is required for proper operation regardless of the capacity of the drive installed. -
I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4 times now and the music that was purchased is "dead in the water" unless I can move it into my PC library. I downloaded the icloud software on my computer in order to sync calenders and contacts using Windows 2007, but I keep getting an error message when trying to sync my icloud and Outlook calendars. I downloaded it for the first time a month ago and had it working but it stopped syncing, so I deinstalled the iCloud software and reinstalled, but keep getting the error message "Your setup couldn't be started because of an unexpected error.
