The higher the volume level the worse the quality???

Two days ago I changed all my music to the highest volume levels by using the option in iTunes. Now it seems that all my tracks are of a worser quality. In fact iTunes has all files (checked in the explorer) changed 2 days ago. I thought the option wouldn`t change my files und not write in the files itself? Does anyone know, what happens exact by using this option. Please tell me, that there isn´t any changing of the sourcefiles or any reentcoding. Please tell me, that I fortunately only imagine that and how it works really. Thanks a lot.

The songs are clipping becaue you are trying to force the iPod to do more volume than it can handle.
You can usually tweak them up a little bit but not all the way.
The files are not "altered" as such. One of the ID3 tags is changed to use the new volume setting but just set it back to 0.

  • I locked my volume level, and forgot the code to unlock it, so how can i get my volume back to normal without a code??

About four years ago I set the volume lock on my ipod to half way up. To do that, you enter a four number code. I decided to change the code one day, and then ever since then i can not remember the code. I would like to remove my volume lock from half way, so that i can turn it up to max volume, but to do this it is asking for the old four number code, which i don't remember! So how can i take this volume lock off without knowing the code??? I tried to reset all settings, but that did not remove the volume lock. Please help me figure out how to achieve full volume level!
    Thanks.

  • I bought a usb microphone (blue snowball). I can't hear any sound from it. The MIDI master volume is turned all the way down, and I can't turn it up because it's frozen/locked. Please help!!! Not very tech savvy, been at this for hours and desperate :(

I've been trying to fix this problem, seems like it would be simple, but apparently it is not. I just want to turn up the master volume control under my input tab in MIDI audio devices so I can use my blueball microphone.
This image above is what I'm currently dealing with. I put a red box around the volume control I want to use. That is the one I can't turn up because it is locked/frozen.
Please make steps as simple as possible!
    Thanks

You should have gotten a user manual.  If the manual is of no help, contact the manufacturer.

  • Can not get the high resolution photo from iCloud on the iPhone5s, unless re-share the photo to the iCloud.

after restoring the iPhone, the iPhone can not get the high resolution photo from album of iCloud, unless re-share all the photo to the iCloud.

If you plug up both to computer, open itunes, click "back up to computer" on both (not necessary for the one that's being transferred to) then on the one that's sending data click "back up" in the iTunes menu. It will then back up (if not already done in sync). Now plug up the second one (being transferred to) and on the iTunes menu, click "restore from backup" then choose the device you just backed up, and click "ok" or what it says.
    Hope this helped

  • In Numbers, can I highlight/colour differently to show high and low level requirements from the Y Axis?

I have a line graph in Numbers 09, but would like to either fill the chart between two points on the Y axis which shows the upper and lower limits of a set of results. Is this possible? I don't seem to be able to select the two points I want and end up with the Grid lines being all the same colours when I select colour or the Chart fill is all or nothing!
    Thanks

I have done it both ways, the way you have suggested, the drawing of two lines for Upper and Lower limits and a combination of the two. They are all working fine. As you say, with use, I'll find other things that can be done with it, certainly from an aesthetic point of view.
    Many thanks

  • Is the higher-end 13" Macbook Pro worth the extra $300?

I know that it has a faster processor and larger hard drive, but does it justify the extra $300?

Well, if you are facile with some tools you could install a bigger drive yourself. You can install more RAM on your own without the need for tools. But you cannot replace the CPU and GPU if you need more processing power in the future. If that's a concern then it's better to get it now because you cannot add it later.
For what you describe you could easily get by with a much less powerful computer. My personal decision was the 2.4 GHz model, dual-core i5, 500 GB hard drive and 8GBs of RAM. I then got a DataDoubler and an SSD from OWC that replaced the optical drive. Total cost was under $1,600.00. I bought the computer from an authorized Apple reseller which came with the 8 GBs of RAM, 500 GB 7200 RPM hard drive, MiniDisplay Port to HDMI adaptor, and MiniDisplay Port to DVI adaptor. Total was $1,352.00 including shipping (no sales tax.) DataDoubler is $75.00 and the 60 GB SSD was $150.00.
The reseller is ExperCom.com if you're interested.

  • Cluster Shared Volume disappeared after taking the volume offline for Validation Tests.

    Hi,
After an unknown issue with one of our Hyper-V 4 Node cluster running on Server 2008 R2 SP1 with fibre channel NEC D3-10 SAN Storage all our cluster shared volumes were in redirecting mode and I was unable to get them back online. Only after rebooting all
the nodes one by one the disks came back online. Eventlog messages indicated that I had to test my cluster validation. After shutting down all the virtual machines I set all the cluster shared volumes offline and started the complete validation test. The following
    warnings/errors appeared during the test.
An error occurred while executing the test.

Cluster disk resource found the disk identifier to be stale. This may be expected if a restore operation was just performed or if this cluster uses replicated storage. The DiskSignature or DiskUniqueIds property for the disk resource has been corrected.
    (Event 1568)
In disk management the disk is unallocated, unknown, Reserved. When the resource is on one node and i open disk management i get the warning that i have to initialize the disk. I did not do this yet.
Reading from other posts i think that the partition table got corrupted but i have no idea how to get it back. I found the following information but it's not enough for me to go ahead with: Using a tool like TestDisk to rewrite the partition table. then
rewriting the uniqueID to the disk brought everything back. But still no explaination as to why we had our "High Availability" Fail Over cluster down for nearly 2 Days. This happened to us twice within the past week.
Anybody that an idea how to solve this? I think my data is still intact.
Thanx for taking the time to read this.

    Hi,
Error information you provided indicate disk connection failure issue, please confirm shared disk 4 is available:
To review hardware, connections, and configuration of a disk in cluster storage:
On each node in the cluster, open Disk Management (which is in Server Manager under Storage) and see if the disk is visible from one of the nodes (it should be visible from one node but not multiple nodes). If it is visible to
a node, continue to the next step. If it is not visible from any node, still in Disk Management on a node, right-click any volume, click Properties, and then click the Hardware tab. Click the listed disks or LUNs to see if all expected disks or LUNs appear.
If they do not, check cables, multi-path software, and the storage device, and correct any issues that are preventing one or more disks or LUNs from appearing. If this corrects the overall problem, skip all the remaining steps and procedures.
Review the event log for any events that indicate problems with the disk. If an event provides information about the disk signature expected by the cluster, save this information and skip to the last step in this procedure.
To open the failover cluster snap-in, click Start, click Administrative Tools, and then click Failover Cluster Management. If the User Account Control dialog box appears, confirm that the action it displays is what you want, and
    then click Continue.
In the Failover Cluster Management snap-in, if the cluster you want to manage is not displayed, in the console tree, right-click Failover Cluster Management, click Manage a Cluster, and then select or specify the cluster that
    you want.
If the console tree is collapsed, expand the tree under the cluster you want to manage, and then click Storage.
In the center pane, find the disk resource whose configuration you want to check, and record the exact name of the resource for use in a later step.
Click Start, point to All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
    Type:
    CLUSTER RESOURCE DiskResourceName /PRIV >path\filename.TXT
For DiskResourceName, type the name of the disk resource, and for path\filename, type a path and a new filename of your choosing.
Locate the file you created in the previous step and open it. For a master boot record (MBR) disk, look in the file for DiskSignature. For a GPT disk, look in the file for DiskIdGuid.
Use the software for your storage to determine whether the signature of the disk matches either the DiskSignature or DiskIdGuid for the disk resource. If it does not, use the following procedure to repair the disk configuration.

  • Is There A Bug With The Line-In Volume Setting ?

I use an audio mixer and microphone to put voice-overs into programs like Audacity, Sound Studio and the Voice Over Tool in Final Cut Express.
The mixer is connected to the Line In socket on my eMac.
I like to set the Line In Volume to Maximum in the System Preferences.
However, sometimes when I close one of the above programs, the Line In Volume Control reverts to a default midway setting (50%).
This is not a terrible problem but it is irritating having to reset the volume control.
Is it a known problem and is there a cure?
    Ian.
PS. I did a search and there was a similar sounding question three weeks ago but for some mysterious reason it was archived before anyone could answer.

I have done some testing in the last 20 minutes and am convinced there is a conflict caused by Final Cut Express 3.0.
I opened and closed Audacity, Sound Studio and iMovie three times each with no problem.
I did the same with FCE and each time the Line In Volume control had reverted to the 50% setting.
So it appears there is a bug (at least with my setup).
Is there a cure - other than resetting System Preferences every time?

  • Mapping the High Speed Capture signal to RTSI

    Hello,
Can i Mapp the "High Speed Capture" signal to RTSI ?
When i'm using the motion RTSI example and mae some changes:
i'm setting the source to "High speed capture"  and the destination to RTSI_0 i 'm getting an error that its possible!
i want to use this input to trigger an action on other pci.

    Dear Jochen,
    Thank you for your reply.
I try to map the High Speed capture to RTSI , but the HSC doesnt work.
When i remove the RTSI mapping from my diagram, the HSC work and i can capture the encoder position.
I'm using the UM7774, and the HSC is wired to the global connectors (TRIGGER/BREAKPOINT connector)
I also read all the relevant documentation about my hardware and i notice that there is a comment about mapping the motion rtsi :
(from Select Signal vi Help):  Note  You must route signals from the RTSI lines before you enable high-speed capture ,
so i also consider that, it still doesnt work....
I really appreciate if you can take a look about the 2 versions of vi i attached here.
They both need to do the same.
Each vi contains 2 parallel diagrams, one diagram for the single axis move, the move is to target position X,
the second diagram is for the vision, there is "trigger each line" from rtsi line (the motion diagram includes maping the encoder phase A to the rtsi for this purpose)
and i want to use the High speed capture to trigger the start of imaq also.
    The example :
HSC in motion activate the start of imaq in second loop.vi
is a working example that runs good and capture the image.
but its "dirty" programming, i dont think its should work like this.
its actualy a implementation of "busy wait" loop.... ( i dont like it, but work...)
    The example :
HSC triger directly the start of imaq.vi
is hoe i think its should be ( i know that i need to trigger the HSC whitin the time of the timeout of waiting to the start trigger of imaq to accure, that is why i put a big number there... )
BUT, this vi doesnt work, the High speed capture doesnt happend at all...
Can you take a look on these vi and let me know what i'm doing wrong here.
    I really appriciate your help.
    Regards

  • Questions about the High Throughput Math Functions

    Hello,
i am just trying to unterstand what advandages the High Troughput Math Funtions have. So i have to ask some Questions.
I always talk about beeing inside a SCTL.
    1. In the Image you can see four Add Functions. One with U32 which should use more Ressouces than the one with the U16Datatype which uses mor than the U8. But does my FXP High Througput Math Function use less Ressources than the U8 Version?
    2. Which of this four Add Functions will take less time for Execution?
    3. If I would Add two 32bit Numbers one with the normal Add and one with the High Throughput Add. Which of the Functions will use less Resources and which will be faster?
    4. How would it bee if i had a Multiplication instead? When i unterstand the concept of a Multiplication right it will be done with a DSP48E. This Logic Block is able of Multiplying a 25bit Number with a 18bit Number. So the U32 Multiply will use 2 DSP48Es and the other three Functions would use one DSP48E.
I guess the U32 Version will have the slowest Execution?
Whats about the other three will their execution speed be equal or will the Versions with smaller Datatypes be faster?
    With kind regards

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I don't see a big rush to answer this, so I'll give it a shot:
    1. The HT version uses less resources, but only because it is configured with the smallest data types. You should get exactly the same results with the same data types and an Add function. The only difference with the HT version is the ability to specify an output register, and the handshaking signals that account for that delay. IF the add is implemented in a DSP48, the integrated register can result in better timing, but in practice it is usually equivalent to an Add function followed by a feedback node.
    2. The actual delay through an add is proportional to the number of bits, where the critical path is the sequentially computed carry chain. So you could run the last one at the highest clock rate. The FPGA has dedicated fast carry logic, so the difference isn't too significant.
    3. The first one will be VERY slightly smaller and faster, just because you're computing one extra output bit on the second one.
    4. I would expect the speed to depend only on the number of DSP48s used, so the last 3 should be similar. You'd be likely to see different results in practice, though, due to routing differing numbers of bits to registers for the indicators. This assumes you're not taking advantage of any of the pipelining configuration options in the HT Multiply. Those options, and the associated handshaking signals, are really what differentiates the HT versions from the regular numeric functions. They allow you to achieve higher clock rates and throughput at the expense of latency (ie, it will take more clock cycles to produce a valid result but you can get more data through the function in a given amount of time).
Caveats: All your examples have constant inputs, so the LabVIEW compiler and/or Xilinx tools can and will optimize them to no ops. Small multiplies, multiplies with one constant input, or those just larger than 25x18 may also use some non-DSP48 logic for all or part of the implementation. Note that the HT palettes provide a DSP48E function in case you want control over exactly how a multiply and/or add gets implemented. Placing and routing can result in unexpected behaviors, so estimating timing is much more difficult than simply adding up component delays.

  • Re ilife 11: I bought it so I could manipulate the sound WITHIN an imovie clip. The sound track in imovie 09 fluctuates wildly following export of the movie. It seems that ilife 11 in fact does not have improved controls. Any suggestions?

Can I transfer my files to the apple movie "pro" system instead? I forget what its proper name is. With that programme like the old imovie of '05 approximately, you can grab the sound track within a clip and manipulate its volume up or down.
I need to do that to compensate for the coder problems in imovie 09 and 11 soundtracks.

    ecivres wrote:
....you can grab the sound track within a clip and manipulate its volume up or down...
This can be done quite easily in iMovie '11.
Firstly, click on the waveform icon at the bottom right of iMovie's window (also at the lower right of the Project window) - shown here:
You will see the volume level line within the waveform. For the section you wish to lower the volume, click and drag across the waveform so that it is highlighted with a yellow border. Now you can drag the volume line up and down. See the following example, showing the different volume levels:
TIP: Set the thumbnail slider (next to the waveform icon) to half a second - this will show more detail in the waveform, with each thumbnail representing half a second of video.

I have a 15' Macbook Pro, mid 2010 running Mavericks. I want to upgrade the hardware by increasing the RAM to 8GB and replacing the HD for a SDD one. What would be the best way to install mavericks on the new HD? I have the original OS X CD.
From what I read, I have 2 choices: 1. to install OSX and then upgrade to Mavericks, but I'm not sure if this would be possible (to upgrade directly from OSX to Mavericks); and 2. to use a software called Super Duper.
I wouldn't like to have to use a third party software to do this, so the question is: is there a better way to install directly the Mavericks not having to use a third party software?

Install the new drive in the computer.
Install the old drive in an external USB or Firewire enclosure.
Boot the computer from the Recovery HD on the external drive.
Use Disk Utility to partition and format the new internal drive.
Clone your external drive to the internal drive.
How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the Recovery HD on the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the Recovery HD then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
      1. Open Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and
wait until the process has completed.
      4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
          window.
      5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
          return to the Erase window.
      6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
      1. Using Disk Utility still opened.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.
