The title kinda says it all, I have a iPod Touch 4th Gen., that I have had for almost 2 years. And it has worked wonderfully, up until a few day ago, when I noticed that the home button was getting harder and harder to push on. and then earlier today it just stopped working all together. To exit out of an app, I had to stut off the iPod and restart it again.
I have considered sending it to Apple, but at, $105 (estimated) I was wondering if there was any other ways to fix the problem. And I'm not even sure if it's a problem with the hardware, or the software.

1.ave you try resetting it or restoring it?

The home button on my ipod touch 4th generation, that i have had for a year now, is jammed. When i go to click it to go to the home screen it doesnt push in. I am not sure how it happened because one moment i pressed it and it was fine and the next it somehow got jammed. I dont know whether i should just buy a new one or if i should send it in for repairs. The thing is that i dont want to send it in for repair and get it back to have the same thing keep happening to me. It has been starting to get slow and close out of apps randomly also. And the service center said that they don't cover that center part of the ipod so they're asking us money before they can fix it. We bought the ipod last december 8, 2010 and we brought it to the service center last april, 2011 here in the philippines. And until now they're not fixing it because they're asking us to pay half the price of the item which is 8,040 pesos..

this is my first post here.
My iPod touch 4th gen has been experiencing some problems with the home button lately. The home button is semi stuck. It works but I have to press it really lightly at times and really hard at other times. I don't know what happened. I let my little brother play with it for a day, and when he returned it to me it was like this. I tried recalibrating it but it was no good. I would try the alcohol method, but there's no alcohol allowed in my house. I tried asking my parents to get me a swab for this purpose and they refused lol. Should I try using a wet q-tip around the home button? Or should I try using my vacuum cleaner's pipe suction things on the usb port thing while holding down the home button? Any and all help is appreciated

You can thry this. However, since yo iPod is still within warranty, I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
