The home button in the toolbar doesn't work anymore. It takes me to a search page not my homepage
instead of opening new tabs I do a lot of surfing from one tab. Before when I wanted to get back to my homepage I would click the Home button in the toolbar and it would take me back to my homepage. A nice feature. But lately when I click the home button it takes me to a search window and I have to type in yahoo and then click on yahoo login.
Anyone know how to fix this?
... and 99% of the time the site you want is at the top of results.
or hit down arrow to get to it from history...
Believe it or not but most people use the url bar for searching.
.... it should never had been that way by default(.com)

How do you close apps you hve looked at with the new software update?? You used to have to double click the home button and the apps would come up to delete bu that doesn't happen anymore.
The apps in the multitaskbar should appear like pages on the whole display. To close them, just swipe from the bottom to the top. you can select single apps for closing, when you swipe them like you would swipe your homescreens.

i have an old ipod touch 3rd generation and when ever i open it , it doesn't open or it turn blank, if i click on the home button and the power button to do the reboot it works but when i remove my finger it close. i can acced the ipod from the cpu but not from the actual device
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My ipod touch is not recognized on itunes and will not turn on or even give me the battery sign that it is dead. I turned it off and it won't turn back on now. The screen is completely black and won't do anything. I have tried charging it over night and nothing happened. It was never near water. I have tried troubleshooting it by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button, but nothing happened and it didn't work. What can I do to fix it?

Wat should I do?
Send it to apple?Try each of the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPOd from backup
- Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPOd.
If still a problem you likely have a hardware problem. An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store would be in order. If the iPod is within warranty you can call AppleCare.

I have used (and liked) Firefox from the first time it was offered. I
typically upgrade to newer versions as they come out. Sometimes
the newer version doesn't differ markedly from the previous one, but, until now, they were not usually a step backward. Upon installing Firefox 4 the welcome page indicated several new features. Specifically an app bar, and a bookmark button next to the home button. However neither of these features are on my copy of the program. Frankly, the only change that I see is the new position of the home button; and I don't like it. Moving the home button all the way across the page from the other commonly used buttons makes absolutely no sense to me, especially if the touted bookmark button doesn't exist. The new speed, if it continues, is nice, but other than that I see no real improvement over Firefox 3. So what's so great? The new interface is only default on Windows Vista and Windows 7. To get it on Windows XP you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.
You can rearrange the buttons and place them where you want, for details on how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/how-do-i-customize-toolbars -
Moving the location of features such as the Home button and the sometimes refresh button does not improve the function of the browser. It simply forces users to re-learn the location of these features and put up with the associated inconvenience. Why, what have you gained?
what a ridiculous reply. moving the home button is a pain when it has been on he left for many years now. why the change? are you trying to mimic ie? i hope not.
it doesn't create more space on the toolbar - in fact he default setting for firefox 4 removes space. by moving the home buttons and other buttons back it increases the space back to where it was before.
also why did the history button change to be a button on its own rather thn attached to the forward / back buttons?
to say it's not worth changing it for one person is a nonsense answer. i know loads of people who say it sucks so have had to customize it to change it back to how it was. -
In 3.6.16, the buttons are all over the place. In previous versions, the forward, back, refresh, stop and home buttons were all together. In this version, the refresh and stop buttons are between the address and search windows, and the home button to the far right.
I would love to have them all together as they used to be - much more user friendly that way. I have tried installing alternate themes, but the coding of this version over-rides the themes.Firefox 4.0 has a combined Reload and Stop and Go button that appears at the right end of the location bar.
To restore the Firefox 3 appearance you can use these steps:
* Open the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window to move the Stop and Reload button out of the location bar.
* Move the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position at the left side of the location bar.
* Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
* Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise to get two distinct buttons. -
I was on the phone last night and my phone randomly turned off. It will not come back on even when I have tried to hold the home button and the power button at the same time, while being plugged into the computer? What do I do?
Plug it into power for at least 15 minutes. If it doesn't automatically come on, try a reset... press the home and sleep (on/off) buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Whenever I use the Firefox browser to go to another site, Ican't get back to Firefox home page by simply pressing the Home button at the top left line of the page.
Open the page that you want as the home page in a tab and drag the tab or the favicon from the left end of the location bar on the toolbar Home button.

Why is there a horizontal line a quarter inch above the Home button on the iPad main screen all of a sudden? Does that mean the screen itself is problematic?
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
If that doesn't help I suspect there is a hardware problem with the iPad. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. -
so my daughter's ipad2 wont start up i think its on but you cant see anything unless you take a screenshot then you can see for a split second then nothing, and when i hold down the home button and the power button it will reset then i can see apple icon for a second then nothing?????
Thanks for that information!
I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?! -
My home screen is gigantic… So much so that 1/200 of the normal screen display now fills up the entire screen. As a result, I cannot even see my keypad to enter in my passcode. I've tried a hard reset a few times (holding the home button and the on off button at the same time until the iPhone restarts). This has not resulted in any changes. Any ideas?
Thank you Lawrence. that worked! I have another question for you as well. I just got this 6 Plus and it is already saying that I am nearing the end of my storage. My iCloud is apparently 20gb and I have 6gb left. I'm attaching a screen shot. Any thoughts on how I can make available some more storage?
I Also wanted to get an enhanced quality Speech voice Alex, but it is saying I don't have enough Memory (I think it says memory because I can't read the message fully). Lastly, in your opinion does Grayscale really improve battery life above and beyond what can be achieved by closing out all apps etc. Thank you. -
my iPod touch 5th generation had white screened an it won't let me rest it by holding down the home button an the power button for ten seconds I've pulled it in to iTunes an its not being detected what can i do as its starting to over heat?
If you can't get it to shut down or restart when holding down the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons and you can't get it recognized in iTunes to restore it, the iPod may have suffered a hardware failure and will need to go to Apple for service. Someone else here may have additional suggestions, though.
There is no "fifth generation" iPod touch, by the way, just for the sake of clarity; not yet, anyway.
Regards. -
My iPad frequently locks up, even after updating to iOS 7.1. When it locks up it's nonresponsive to the home button and the only remedy is to force a shut down and reboot. Help!
