I am receiving the error
The image [imagename] cannot be displayed, because it
contains errors.
when trying to view an image in firefox that was uploaded via
CFFILE. IE returns a broken image. This is happening on 2 seperate
sites. I can download the images and open them locally and
everything seems to be fine. Many other images have also been
uploaded to the same sites using cffile with no rpobelm.
Can anyone shed any light on this or has anyone had the same
experience?

Did you compare the initial and final file sizes? It is often
just that: the file is a corrupted or partially downloaded binary.

Why do pages that consist solely of a jpg or png result in the message that the image cannot be displayed because it contains errors?

Whenever I click on URL links to pages that consist solely of a jpeg or png, I get a text-only message 'the image cannot be displayed because it contains errors'. Yet if I copy the same URL and try it in IE, the image displays just fine. This has been happening for some time, thru several upgrades of Firefox.

That is the default text that Firefox displays on a tab.<br />
As soon as the image has loaded then that text is replaced by the image.
If you keep seeing that text then something is blocking images.

I'm using Firefox ESR 24.5.0 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3 with GNOME 2.28.2.
It gives me that error when I try to view this image http://graphbench.org/images/hairball-header-cropped.jpg
It's only 1170x311 and 81.1kB so size shouldn't be a problem. When I ctrl-s to save the image, it opens fine in GIMP, Eye of Image viewer GNOME 2.28.2, and gThumb image viewer 2.10.11. Opening the image in Firefox from my hard drive fails with the same error. I have no extensions installed and it fails even in safe mode. The image loads fine in Firefox on a different (Windows) computer on the same network.
I've shift-refreshed to reload the image and that doesn't help. I yum uninstalled firefox, deleted my .mozilla folder, and yum installed firefox again but the problem remains. I went into about:config and there were no bold network.http.* prefs. The permissions for the domain are not restricted. I went to "Tools > Page Info > Media" and the image was not blocked. permissions.default.image is set to default. I "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above". When loading this page http://graphbench.org/ I get this error in the web console "[13:44:33.313] Image corrupt or truncated: http://graphbench.org/images/hairball-header-cropped.jpg @ http://graphbench.org/images/hairball-header-cropped.jpg" Four other images fail on that same page: images/nelson.jpg images/myers.jpg images/ceze.jpg and images/kahan.jpg .

At our site we experienced this problem too, on a Scientific Linux release 6.3 with firefox-24.5.0-1.el6_5.i686. It seems to be a bug in the rpm package of Firefox that doesn't require the upgrade of libtiff.
We solved the problem by manually upgrading with "yum update libtiff". In our case this triggered the update of libjpeg-turbo, too.

Is anyone experienced with the following error when displaying image from DMP 4305G as local or remote url?

Imge Jpeg/gif file displaying fine but after warning message .
Is there any workout solution to avoide this warning message display?

My iPod (20 gb, 4 gen) syncs fine, but when I go to eject it a window pops up saying "the iPod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application."
Unfortunately, there are no files on it (that I know of) that are being used by another application.
I can't use the eject function on the task bar because I have Vista and it will corrupt the iPod. I've just been unplugging it with out ejecting, but was hoping there was a solution. Any advice?

Are you running any anti-virus or spyware detection software in the background? Start closing programs located in the taskbar next to the clock and try ejecting the iPod.

After I had put some songs on the ipod, i got that message. I thought maybe the new songs were the problem but de computer still doesn't want to eject my Ipod and there are no programes in use other than itunes.

by any chance, do you have McAfee ActiveScan security software on that PC? i've seen that implicated a few times with this message.
if you do have McAfee, as an experiment try switching that off prior to doing a sync. do you still get the message then?
if the McAfee thing doesn't-help/isn't-relevant, let's try using the following techniques to see if we can identify if some other program is causing the message. (the article is actually about installation errors, but the techniques are relevant to this sort of investigation.)

I am using my crusty but trusty 5G iPod with my new rMPB, and things have been working as expected for the month or so that I've had the new laptop. But "recently," (past few days?), when I go to eject from iTunes (current - 11.1.5), I get the error message, "The iPod cannot be ejected because it contains files that are in use by another application." The iPod is then ejected but the "Do not disconnect" message remains on the iPod screen. I can continue using the iPod as normal after all this.
If I eject the iPod from the Finder, I get no error message but the iPod screen still remains at "Do not disconnect."
I tried plugging it into my Windows 7 PC (did not reformat of course!) and then ejected it, and the iPod screen returned to its proper state after a proper Windows disconnect.
I have of course restarted my Mac and reset the iPod (Up + Center buttons held for ~5 sec) but no change. I don't remember changing the OS that would cause this - any suggestions as to the problem here?

let's try an experiment. first, let's check to see if the wee darling will disconnect properly if you switch off your antivirus and antispyware prior to an attempt at an eject.
if you're still getting the message, let's try steadily switching off background applications prior to attempts to eject (the following article is actually about installer errors, but the technique is the same for this sort of thing):

Go to your computer's System Tray and try ejecting. If you can't eject, there is an application that is trying to access your iPod.
Go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx and download ProcessExplorer.
Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555665 and follow the instructions under Resolution.
Note that this is a good, general process any time you can't access any file.

Title says it all. If I try to "open" an attachment, the download dialogue comes up and the progress bar begins to fill, then when it should be complete I get the message:

so.. when i first plugged it in it asked me to restore it into windows format as it's on a mac format...
when i click restore, a few moments later that error pops up!!

"Help cannot be displayed because no help context ID was passed. To view the PeopleSoft Online Library, click here."
I can access PeopleBooks PSOL by http://webserver:port/PSOL/hrms/eng/index.htm correctly. Did someone run into this error before?

I've generally found this to be a problem with the URL you are using, in particular the case of the URL parameters, for example:
The following URL will work for PeopleTools PeopleBooks
http://hostname.domain.com:port/PSOL/htmldoc/f1search.htm?ContextID=MESSAGE_CATALOG&LangCD=ENG
Howe the following URL wil give you the help cannot be displayed because no help context ID was passed:
http://hostname.domain.com:port/PSOL/htmldoc/f1search.htm?contextID=MESSAGE_CATALOG&LangCD=ENG
Note that in the example that works the parameter is ContextID and when it fails the parameter is contextID (lowercase C).
This URL should be set up the in the appropriate web profile as the Help URL.
Note that you can also use the Oracle hosted PeopleBooks (although they are slower) for context sensistive help. Instructions are here:

Outlook 2010 "Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is unavailable" error

We recently introduced a Exchange 2010 server into our Exchange 2003 enviroment but had to stop migrating users over to it after it became appartent that users using Outlook 2010 could not switch on their Out Of Office, getting an "Your automatic reply settings
cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable" error. However users on the new 2010 can set OOF if they use OWA or Outlook 2003!
Running the Test E-mail AutoConfiguration shows no errors with the Log tab showing Autodiscover succeeded and the Results tab showing all the correct values, including a OOF URL of
/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml">https://<servername>/Autodiscover/Autodiscover.xml into IE gives a XML file with a 600 error code.
I have looked at loads of 'solutions' on the Internet but cannot get this working, anyone have any suggestions?
