  • Why has the image quality of my PNG sequences suddenly worsened?

I've been regularly exporting PNG sequences from Premiere Pro CS6, but suddenly the image quality of the images looks terrible.
All my export settings look correct. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
    Thanks...

...and now the results are very poor...
And in which way exactly? How do you judge on quality?
My ... settings are ... 792x582 (same size as source)... My Preview File Format is the default I-frame only MPEG.
Your frame size is not good for previewing in PrPro. MPEG 2 uses macroblocks of 8x8 pixels for compressing data. And now what you get with your frame size: 792 pix / 8 = 99; 582 pix / 8 = 72.75
    My export settings are...

  • Poor Image Quality In FCE With Photoshop Imports

I'm using scans created in Photoshop in my current FCE project, and am extremely disappointed with the image quality. All scans are 72 pixels/inch, 720x534 pixels (changed to 720x480 for import), sharpened with Unsharp Mask. In Photoshop, they look terrific. Imported into FCE and viewed in the viewer, they look terrific. When dropped onto the canvas to add to the timeline, suddenly they look like crap. The sharpness is gone, the edges are pixelated, and most are rendered unusable. What happened? Can I fix it? Thanks in advance.

Really!? I'm surprised, as those numbers come from the Apple Pro Training Series book on FCE. But ok, I'll redo my images at 720x540. I should still make a version at 720x480 for import, to avoid "squeezing" the image, right? Should I avoid sharpening the image at all, or just cut back on the amount (or does this depend on the image)? When you say "the canvas is a reduced display output," do you mean that this reflects the compression that occurs with the DV format? Thanks, Tom, for your help.

  • Image quality suddenly much worse in almost all apps (Visible pixels)

    Hi everyone
Suddenly the image quality om my macbook pro started going fubar. I started noticing that everything on facebook looked so bad, and then i started to realize that it was all images/pictures and everything that was bad while browsing. I then tried loading up some HD movies that used to be totally pixel perfect, and now they look pretty bad too(quciktime)
Anyone know what this could be and how to resolve this?
I'm running Mac OS X 10.5.7 on a Macbook Pro from late 2008 (Unibody)

Here you go with a screenshot:

What is most noticable to me is my profile picture on facebook that is completely pixeled out, and like everything on vimeo looks weird. Especially the smiley logos, the upload a video logo and get facebook connected logo.
If you want me to upload it elsewhere, let me know.

  • How can I change the image quality of a background image on a master slide?

I can change the image quality from low to high for other images in my Captivate project, but the background image I'm using on my master slide looks pixellated. I would like to change this image to high-quality but I don't see the option in my properties panel on my master slide.
    Thanks for any help!

You cannot import AI images directly. However, when I use Illustrator drawings, I'll import them as smart object in Photoshop and then you can import the PS-layer.
The quality you set in Captivate is not for individual images, but for the slides that are published as bitmap. This means that it doesn't matter if the object is on a master slide or on a regular slide IMO

  • Firefox mage quality and resolution was superb when I used XP and Vista. Now that I have Windows 7, however (with the Firefox 3.6.3 version), the image quality and resolution is poor. Please help me!

I am using the Firefox 3.6.3 version with my new Windows 7 operating system. When I used all the previous Firefox versions in my XP and Vista operating systems, image quality and resolution was excellent! However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.3, the image quality and resolution is poor (unacceptable for downloading purposes).
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I first activated my new computer and installed the Firefox 3.6.3.

All my images are pixelated in firefox 3.6.3
    http://www.dcgdcreative.com
Not only on my site but on most sites I view.
The issue is not solved by resetting the zoom text view (ctrl+0)
The issue is not resolved by starting in safemode with add-ons disabled
The problem seems to only affect .jpeg files and only on Windows 7 on my desktop; as I have viewed several sites using windows XP with my laptop, no issues.
I had the same issue with IE8 and was able to fix the problem with by setting up the compatibility view for all sites. Issue fixed no problems at all. But nothing similar for firefox?
    Whats the deal?

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.

  • Do you know if it's possible on an iPad to set the image quality/size or do we just have the one size - the photos I've taken work out at approx 8 x 6cm @300ppi - not that big!

Do you know if it's possible on an iPad to set the image quality/size or do we just have the one size - the photos I've taken, work out at approx 8 x 6cm @300ppi - not that big!

    8cm * (1 in/2.54cm) * 300 dpi = 944 pixels (should be 1280 if this is the back camera)
    6cm * (1in/2.54cm) * 300 dpi = 708 pixels (should be 720 if this is the back camera)
The back camera on iPad 2 is 1280x720 = 0.92Mp.  No way to increase that.

  • When I drag photos into iMovie, the image quality is degraded.  Can I somehow prevent the degradation?

When I drag photos into iMovie, the image quality is degraded.  Can I somehow prevent the degradation?

    Hi
A very common origin to jumpy picture is
    • Recorded material in one frame rate e.g. 29.97fps (NTSC) and iDVD set to do a 25fps (PAL) project - OR the other way around.
It delivers a DVD but a very bad one.
I do convert all my material to same fps as the DVD I want to do (e.g. PAL) - before any editing etc.
I use JES_Deinterlacer or Compressor to do this and the result is so much better.
JES_Deinterlacer is free on Internet and makes a Great job - Professional alternatives comes at an astronomical cost and the quality is not hardly no better.

  • Does flattening (or saving without layers) compromise the image QUALITY?

I'm saving a large .tiff image with multiple layers, but have no need to access the different layers later on, so my question is simply if I can save the image without layers in order to reduce size, or would that also reduce the image QUALITY?

Flattening merges all the layers and gives it a white background, the layer is then named background and is locked. Whereas merge keeps a transparent background if there is one, the remaining layer is not locked.
A flattened image will crop any image data that falls outside the document area. So technically it does effect the quality. The same as what a crop would do.
However it does not adjust the documents image size.
A merged document leaves the image data outside the document area untouched.
That said, some formats like jpg flatten the file not merge it. As it does not support transparency nor layers. Png does not support layers therefore outer data is cropped. But tiff and psd will keep outer data as both of these formats support transparency and layers. Transparency is required to stop the file from being flattened and layers is required to keep any image data that falls outside the document area from being cropped.

  • Hi all, my first time on.  I shared my imovie project to Media Browser.  Fine.  Then after it downloaded it 'disappeared.'  Where did it go?  Having found it, how do I then share it with idvd?  I am told the image quality will be much better this route.

    Hi
    I do
    • In iMovie - select a project
    • Share to Media Browser and as Large (not HD or other res.)
    • Close iMovie
    • Open iDVD and select to start a New iDVD Project
    • Import movie - from Media button - down to the right - and here from Movies

  • Can I improve the image quality in Safari?

As a photographer one of the things I was most looking forward to doing on my iPad was browsing flickr and other photo sites.
Unfortunately safari seems to re-compress the images it displays (to save memory?) and the resulting JPEG artifacts are so distracting that it's not even worth looking at my contacts photos until I'm back on my laptop.
To reproduce this just go to flickr on your normal computer and on the iPad and compare some images - it's a pretty big difference.
I can't see any settings for image quality anywhere. Is there anything I can do, or am I stuck waiting for an iPad version of the Flickr app?

Alley_cat, you're right... I just installed an AirPort last night and over WiFi everything looks fantastic! For the record I'm getting 3G from O2 in the UK, so I guess that means they're compressing the images?
    Looks like it.
I've noticed it too on my O2 connection and the image quality is abysmal.
A quick search hasn't yielded a solution - changing the O2 username to bypass in some setups apparently bypasses the proxy, but someone on O2 forums was asking before iPad was released, and the inference was that unless you had a long term contract, all the pay as you go type options didn't allow this to work.
I also tried a different server setting for O2 and it told me I had no allowance left - fortunately this went when I reset the setting.
I may try contacting O2 and would urge others to do so as it really I pairs the user experience.
Vodafone does the same with a USB dongle I have but in theory I can get them to disable the proxy.
Btw, I've just had the chance to have a proper play with my iPad this morning, downloading apps and stuff, and I have to say it's exceeding my expectations in every way (and my expectations were high!). What an amazing machine
