The installation freezes during completing installation part
I tried to install windows 7 and bootcamp. Followed all instructions but the installation enver gets over "Completing Installation" Tried moving mouse and keyboard, no use.
You will want to start by running the Adobe Support Advisor - http://www.adobe.com/support/loganalyzer/ to review and analyze your installation logs.

The windows freezes DURING iTunes installation.
i have Sony Vaio VGN-N11M, 32Bits. i used to run windows XP and iTunes was working fine, after installing windows 7, i tried to install iTunes but it freezes during installation, and i have to reboot.
i Created a New User Account but the same problem happened, also Removed iTunes Plug-ins, checked the Conflicting Processes and Disconnected the computer from the Internet whilst installation but still the same thing keep happening.
i though it maybe because i had old slow RAM so i upgraded to 2GB RAM but still the same problem. i havent updated/backed up my phone for two month and the phone now is being funny too

I'm having the same issue trying to install a new out of the box copy of XP home.
It says "session3initializationfailed" I then have to reboot with the power button. It does it every time. The Windows is SP2.
Ditto for me. BootCamp fails to install XP Home SP2. I have a legal full version bought from Best Buy. Partition is created fine, but get this error when Windows is being loaded: SESSION3INITIALIZATIONFAILED.
I have no clue what to do, other than purchase Vista Home Edition and give it a go. -
Windows 7 installation freezes at "Completing installation"
Hi!
I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my mid-2010 Macbook Pro 13". I'm running Lion and have installed all avaliable updates.
I've created the partition in BootCamp and the installation starts but when it gets to "completing installation", just after the computer has rebooted the installation freezes and I'm forced to shut down the computer.
This is what I've tried:
* To burn several different Windows 7 iso file on DVD's with different speed (from the disk utilities).
* Remove all USB connections (which is none since I've a wireless mouse)
Then I've no idea what to do more
One thing that could be the reason is that I (before trying to install Windows 7) had to repair my hard drive (which I did from the disk utilities) and I might have done some sort of misstake there...
Please help!No help needed anymore, finally managed to install it
The solution was (probably) to eject the CD when the computer reboots and then continue the installation as normal.
I'm not 100% sure this was the solution but anyways, now I've Windows installed. -
When I try to install windows 7 on my mac, it always freezes at "Completing Installation". Does anyone know a fix for this?
Got it!
After posting my question I noticed the "More like this" category and the second discussion was a hit.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/11290644#11290644
It was a display driver. All I needed to do was to boot from the CD again and following the directions in the post.
Worked like a charm. -

Windows 7 Freezes at "Completing Installation"
So, I was installing windows 7 and everything was going great, fast, etc. Computer had just restarted, blah blah. Windows had said "Upgrading Registry and what not" and then when I got to the "Completing Installation" after about 5 minutes it just freezes, I gave it a good 20 minutes of just sitting there before coming to the conclusion it might be a hardware problem?
Then again, why would I get so far in the installation before it doing that? It was at about the 70% marker.
Btw, I'm upgrading to Windows 7 32bit, I'm running Vista 32bit atm, and Vista is freshly installed after a Hard Drive format about a week ago.
Soes any help would be great, if it matters any deal about my computer specs I'm on:
- AMD 64X Dual Core 3.00ghz.
- GeFORCE XFX 6600 512mb
- Default High Def Sound Card
Running a HP PC, but would have really matter?
Anyway, if anyone has any fixes for this or solutions, suggestions, what ever have you, I'm interested.
And also, I should note that I've tryed installing 3-4 times now with the exact same outcome.
I've tryed just the "Update" option, then after that I tryed the "Custom" option in the installation while it was already booted up.
Would a clean installation be the possible fix? The reason I haven't tred I clean installation is cause I just reinstalled Vista and formatted my hard drive a week ago meaning I'd have to make a 100gig backup of my programs, but if doing a clean sweap would have a 100% success rate, I'm all in.
Oh, one more thing, I first tried writing a CD with a RW DVD but I've tryed with 2 different types as well all going at 2x write speed. I still get the same installation Freeze.I am glad to say that issue solved! Thanks a lot to all of you from that forum, but key problem solver was a guy Alex from MS Technical support.
The problem has been solved after disabling video card in device manager. I was scared to do that before. I believed that this will lead to “no video” situation since I have only one vide card. In fact that action disabled
only driver.
So the successful installation steps were following:
1.
Minimize comp configuration:
Only 1 HDD;
Only one chip of RAM (4 G in my case);
Only PS2 keyboard;
2.
Optimize HDD as recommended at :
3.
Run complete installation up to the “Completing installation step” freeze.
4.
Activate Computer Manager as described by SheilaP at
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproinstall/thread/7d765b66-17c6-46e8-94e2-dd39b5b504c1?prof=required;
5.
Disable all devices with “!” mark and video card also (even if it doesn’t have “!”, as it was in my case). Continue
the installation.
Again special thanks to :

13" Macbook is freezing during re-installation.
Need of a little help here. My book is freezing on the second disk during installation. I am am re-installing due an issue on boot up trying to read the file System\Library\Caches\com.apple.kext.caches\Startup\Extensions.mkext. I get a Read error0x7. The disk utility from the start up reports that the disk appears to be healthy and all permsions are correct. Any one have any ideas what could be goign on? Can anyone tell me of any diagnostics I can run during the installation to see where the hang is?
The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode. Copy them (command-C) to the Clipboard. Paste (command-V) into a reply to this message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Windows 7 installation hangs on 'completing installation' in boot camp
hi
i am trying to install windows 7 ultimate 32 bit using boot camp and each time i have tried (except on one occasion) the installation has hanged on the 'completing installation' stage. i initially had this problem, then one time it worked, but then i had to wipe my boot camp partition and start again, and since then no joy in installing windows 7 again.
when the installation hangs it sounds like the install DVD is making a whirring sound as though there is an issue reading the DVD. but i have tried two different windows 7 install DVDs in both drives on my Mac Pro and i keep getting the same problem.
i have tried installing without any peripherals plugged in, including my cinema display, but still no joy, except for that one occasion, when i am not aware of having done anything different.
the boot camp partition is 32GB, and i have the same issue whether starting the installation using the boot camp assistant, or just booting from the Windows DVD and formatting the boot camp partition during the install.
can anyone help me troubleshoot this?
thanks
nickOn a Mac Pro with four hard disks, you would be better off devoting an entire HDD to Windows. You do not even need to start the Boot Camp Assistant application.
However, that does not appear to be the problem. Perhaps the size of your Windows partition is a bit on the smallish side. Why so small? Have you tried a larger partition? Going larger would be a good experiment to help drill down to the installation problem.
Try to eliminate anything under your control that could be part of the problem.
At 32GB that's the borderline between being permitted to use FAT32 formatting and being required to employ NTFS. Presumably, you allowed the installer to use NTFS. In fact I think Win7 requires NTFS. Switch the partition size a little down or a little up to eliminate that as a possible glitch point. Just a thought and probably a stupid one but you never know...
An afterthought: Can you get hold of a FireWire DVD optical drive. Maybe the internal drive is faulty. -
When i upgraded to itunes 10.4 the install freezes during intallation
This first happened when i was prompted to upgrade to the newest version of itunes, when following the promts on screen the install of itunes freezes. There is no error code or warning comes up on my screen, it just freezes during the installation. it happenes after quicktime has been installed. i tried removing all itunes and associated programs and downloaded the latest version and tried installing again but it freezes every time.
any ideas on what the problem could be?Just tried install again but it freezed at the same point after 'copying new files' the status bar gets to around 95% and stops.

Windows Vista Installation Hangs on "Completing Installation" on Dell Inspiron 1720
I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 that I am working on. The original problem with this computer was that it was accidently shut off during a Windows Update. The computer will only load to a black screen with a white movable cursor.
Unable to resolve that issue, I decided to purchase a replacement hard drive (WD Scorpio Black 320GB -- Model # WD3200KTRTL) and proceed to do a full install of Windows Vista using the Dell Reinstallation Window Vista Home Premium 32BIT disc that came with
the computer.
Towards the very end of the installation, the system hangs on the "Completing Installation" section. I decided to leave the computer turned on over night just in case there were things that were still loading. This was not the case and the next morning I
turned off the computer.
With the new hard drive installed and with Windows Vista installed (minus the "Completing Installation hanging...) I am faced with the same problem as before when I had the existing hard drive installed.
Can anyone help me solve this issue? Ideally, I'd like to use the existing hard drive instead of the new one, simply because there is a lot of data and problems on the other drive. How could it be that I can't reinstall Vista after replacing the hard drive in my Inspiron 1720 when I have the original DVD from Dell, to be used for just that purpose? Well, the answer was exactly what Jaco suggested. After hours of struggling
with this, and about at the stage where a new computer made more sense that continuing to try to get this 6 year old one running again, changing the AHCI setting allowed the Vista installer to get over it's CRCDISK.SYS hangup. A 30 second fix, but finding
it took hours. Sigh...Thank you for posting this, Jaco. -

Edited by: user2493512 on Sep 20, 2012 11:30 PMPl post exact versions of "11g" and "Windows 7" - Home versions are not supported - you will need Professional or higher.
Looks like the "-ignoreSysprereqs" flag was used for the install - is there a reason for this ?

hi,
i am totally new to this technology.
i had created 3 Zone's on X86 Sun Fire X4270 M2 Hardware (OS - Solaris 10 update 9)
& during OS Installation i had selected Software installations using the Entire Distribution.
every thing worked fine but during zone installation steps, got some package installation error (refer the below output)
bash-3.00# zoneadm -z OFSMU-PWM-zone1 install
Preparing to install zone <OFSMU-PWM-zone1>.
Creating list of files to copy from the global zone.
Copying <158400> files to the zone.
Initializing zone product registry.
Determining zone package initialization order.
Preparing to initialize <1240> packages on the zone.
Initialized <1240> packages on zone.
Zone <OFSMU-PWM-zone1> is initialized.
Installation of these packages generated errors: <SUNWpostgr-82-libs SUNWpostgr-82-devel SUNWpostgr-83-server-data-root SUNWpostgr-82-server SUNWpostgr-82-contrib SUNWpostgr-82-client SUNWpostgr-82-server-data-root>
The file </zone/OFSMU-PWM-zone1/root/var/sadm/system/logs/install_log> contains a log of the zone installation.
i checked the log file "/zone/OFSMU-PWM-zone1/root/var/sadm/system/logs/install_log"
its show below error's
*** package <SUNWpostgr-82-libs> failed to install with fatal errors:
*** package <SUNWpostgr-82-devel> failed to install with fatal errors:

postgres:x:90:90:PostgreSQL Reserved UID:/:/usr/bin/pfksh
also the failed packages duirng zone creation steps are already installed in the global zone..

Package installation error during zone installation
Hi All
I am getting a lot of errors from package installations during zone installation
Installation of these packages generated errors: <SUNWcsu SUNWckr SUNWgnome-base-libs SUNWgnome-audio SUNWtltk SUNWzoner SUNWzfskr SUNWzfsr SUNWzfsu SUNWzoneu SUNWtoo SUNWssad SUNWusb SUNWtavor SUNWudapltu SUNWopenssl-libraries SUNWwbsup SUNWPython SUNWbip SUNWxge SUNWxcu4 SUNWxcu6 SUNWcry SUNWntp4u SUNWqlc SUNWqlcu SUNWgnome-im-client SUNWgnome-img-editor SUNWsndmr SUNWsndmu SUNWsshcu SUNWsshdu SUNWsshu SUNWgnome-text-editor>
When I look into /var/sadm/system/logs/install_log in the zone, I am seeing the erros are relate to file corruption:
*** package <SUNWckr> failed to install - interrupted:
pkgadd: ERROR: packaging file </var/sadm/pkg/SUNWckr/save/pspool/SUNWckr/pkginfo
is corruptfile size <17259> expected <17199> actual
*** package <SUNWsshcu> failed to install - interrupted:
pkgadd: ERROR: packaging file </var/sadm/pkg/SUNWsshcu/save/pspool/SUNWsshcu/pkg
info> is corrupt
file size <6235> expected <7087> actual
as an example, the pkginfo file referred to above has size 17199 and 7087 in the global zone so why is it thinking it should be 17259 and 6235? Could this be due to the patching done before the zone creation?
thanksI just realized what is causing this but no sure what is the best way to get around this:
we have another home grown package the overwrite the problematic files reported thay lay on top of the sun packages and zone installation does not like that. The original file size and check sum is checked against what was installed in the global zone and hence the warning messages.
I would have thought it should pick the most updated ones especially it was overwritten by another package (and therefore it should have the updated information in the package database)? -
