"The installation was interrupted before itunes could be completely installed." I am getting this error when I try to install itunes or ipod updater form either the downloaded copies or the CD. I absolutely can't get either installation to finish. I have tried all the suggestions on the Apple website. Have installed all current Windows updates and the Installshield updates form their website. This ***** I can't use my $350.00 Ipod, now a very expensive paperweight. Thanks, anyone who can help. Win XP home on a stock a Dell 4550.

Oh, one more thing. If this proves to work, you must configure your Firewall to not block iTunes from launching. What will happen is, you will download iTunes and Qucktime and when you go to launch it, it won't open. That would be because that firewall is blocking it. Post back and let me know if you have Norton, I can post the instructions on how to configure it to allow iTunes and Quicktime.

For several months now I have tried unsuccessfully to install iTunes on my laptop computer. The older versions worked, with several bugs, but they worked nonetheless. After installing EITHER iTunes or QuickTime, I get the messages:
"The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be installed" or "The installation was interrupted before QuickTime could be installed". The result is that NOTHING has been installed on my harddrive. I have read over many previous tech support posts on this forum and have tried many of the proposed solutions to other peoples' problems.
This isn't necessarily an error message because it doesn't 'popup' after installation, but rather is on the iTunes+QuickTime screen that begins by saying "the iTunes for Windows installer has completed". Immediately underneath is where I get "The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be installed". Followed by "the system has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run the installation again." (no ****?). My only option at this point is to click "Finish", which takes me back to the desktop with no sign of iTunes or anything.Just noticed the post below mine solved this problem. Now additional problems have arisen...

Wizard interrupted before QuickTime could be completely installed?
I bought license to use QT PRO 7 - downloaded the latest version of QT pro 7 (itunes + qt) yesterday (1/20) evening and repeatedly failed to get it either to install over an older existing version of itunes and qt. The installation routine stops close to the end of the process and returns the message "the Wizard was interrupted before QuickTime could be completely installed". The pre-existing old versions of I-tunes and quicktime are gone. And there is no sign of either in my add/remove software menu. I've tried reinstalling the package in safe mode. I've tried shutting down all running programs via the task manager and via msconfig. I've tried using the current QT stand-alone installer. I've tried going back to an ealier restore point. And Quicktime phone support was unable to resolve the conflict either. Anybody here recognize the error message and know how to resolve the problem?

I have tried several times using both the itunes/QT7 and the standalone QT7 installers and both fail at this step. The itunes version doesn't even bother to post the above message though. It just closes the window leaving you thinking that it completed successfully. I have tried disabling my virus scanner, cleaning all references that I could find from the registry, deleting all previous installs, but nothing seems to work, so now I have no quicktime on my system of any version and can't get it reinstalled. -

The only reason why Acrobat installation fails and throw this error message is when there are some services running in the background causing the installer not to complete the installation. My take is try the following steps and suggest if you were able to install the products or not :
1) Navigate to control panel and confirm that there is no line Item that talks about Acrobat. If you see Acrobat XI listed there, please remove them.
2) Perform a selective Start up using the steps mentioned in this link.
Please suggest if the above mentioned steps were able to resolve the query for you or not.

What do I do when I am trying to install my new version of itunes, and it says this: The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified.
I had this, and after a large number of fruitless attempts, I had to reload Windows, which solved it. This was of course a real pain, but I had to do it since updating iTunes was necessary in order to get the new iOS version. But before doing such a drastic thing, you could try to restore Windows to a previous point in time by picking a restore point. This of course presumes that you really have some issues with your Windows (which I had) and that you can make a decent guess on when the system was ok (which I couldn't), i.e that you can decide a good date to restore to.

I am trying to install iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop and get this error:

Arghhhhh!! I've tried different browsers and various other things suggested on other posts to no availOk people, I think I have found the solution !
If you click on the start button from your desktop screen.
Then in the "search programs and files" field type : apple software update - you can find the apple installer.
Click on the apple software update line and let the machine run it's course. I recommend updating whatever it wants to , ie: safari 5, quicktime, itunes....
I then restarted my computer and it seems to be working now !

When trying to download iTunes, I get an error message saying "the instaler encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Errors occured during installation." But it gives me no more information as to what I can do. Help please?
Also I now can`t access any of my itunes library and am concerned that if I remove it from my computer I will lose everything as I have no option of accessing and therefore backing anything up. Any ideas?

ITunes 7.3 installer "encountered errors before iTunes could be configured"
I was able to originally install itunes 7.3.1.3 (upgraded from 7.2) and use it with my iphone (activated/synced for 2 weeks with no problems). I had a problem due to a disk full which corruped Outlook.
I cleared substantial disk space, reinstalled Outlook 2003. This seemed to have corrupted the iTunes sync function, so I uninstalled iTunes (using Add/Remove Programs control panel), and have since been trying to reinstall. I am continually getting the "iTunes installer Completed - The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured" error message.
I have read many messages and suggestions in these discussions, and already tried the following:
Completely uninstalling iTunes and Quicktime (iTunes no longer shows up in the Add/Remove programs or using the Windows install cleanup utility) follwing all the steps listed in "Removing iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP" http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698.
Quicktime (version 7.2 Pro) is currently installed. I can cleanly install/remove Quicktime alone with no errors, but not using the combined quicktime/iTunes installer.
I have tried redownloading the itunes installer several times, and even used the Apple Software update download only option and then manually running the itunes.msi file, but still get the same error.
I have tried manually removing all instances of iTunes/iPod/activesync/iphone that I can find in the registry and all the iTunes/iPod folders as the above knowlege base article instructs.
There must still be some other remnant of the old install, because if I try to install iTtunes 7.2, I get an error message that a later version is already installed, but I have not been able to find anything else.
I have even enabled the verbose logging, the error seems to occur in this section of the log:

Any suggestions on what else I can try would be appreciated. One of the main reasons I need sync my ipnone to my work windows machine is to keep my Outlook contacts and calendar. I have no problems with iTunes on my macs.

1. Use a trustworthy registry cleaner to clean your registry such as Ccleaner or Advanced System Care. This step may not be necessary though.
2. Go to "C:\Users\MyUsername\AppData(Hidden)\Local\Temp" & delete everything in it.
3. If step 2 still doesn't allow you to install Safari, then try:
4. Open Start type "CMD" in the search button, then in the cmd prompt "Regedt32"
5. In the reg editor open:
"Computer" / "HKEYCURRENTUSER" / "Software" / "Apple Computer, Inc." & try deleting the entries for any Apple programs that may be causing any conflicts.
Be aware that any programs that you delete registry entries for may not function correctly afterwards or need to be reinstalled, but this more drastic measure should hopefully allow the installation of Safari browser.
Hope this helps any further visitors to this forum looking to solve this problem it worked for me, good luck.

I try to check this file in my C:\ Drive but unfortunately i can't find it and i can't install the iTunes 8.2..... and the bad thing is i can't f#*******ing use my new iPhone 3GS....
