The ios 6 upgrade to my iPhone 4. . .

...seemed to slow down performance of the phone itself. My phone was faster before the upgrade. Also, the changes to Contacts GROUPS is kinda crappy too, as one must now go through multiple steps to view a particular group. My whole list is organized with GROUPS and the previous system had it just right.
The new OSI also dropped the refresh button in email and I had to hunt around for hours before I figured out how to refresh my inbox. The update led me to believe that SIRI would be installed, so that's why I agreed to update - - - I wanted to check it out, not that I really cared about it!
Overall, I'm really not too sure that this upgrade is a good thing. I think the "code boys" need to go back to the drawing board.
Is anyone else having issues with the upgrade and do you think upgrading to IOS 6 was worth the effort?
PS: The upgrade trashed my son's iPod g4, as it is now no longer stable and crashes frequently, especially with the App Store seach function.

For the flash that goes off when the phone rings check to make sure LED Flash for Alerts isn't on.
Settings > General > Accessability > LED Flash for Alerts > Off
Also, try doing a restore of the device and see if your problems are corrected, if not try setting up the device as new and then sync your information back, there may be some corruption on the backup or installation currently on your device.

Although time consuming and a genearl pain in the butt, the setup as new is generally the last troubleshooting option and usually corrects the issues that people are having. People are just so darn against doing it and would rather suffer and complain then try to fix it.

For one thing, I cannot find directions for turning "Music" off ... and it's draining my battery too fast each day. Other changes are OK, but this drives me nuts!

I have a Macbook with OS X 10.5.8. I am unable to use my iPhone with the iOS 6 upgrade on iTunes.  Apparently I cannot downgrade to iOS 5 on my iPhone. Please tell me I don't have to pay anything to be able to use my products......

    Which version of iTunes?
    iTunes 10.6.3 - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1575
Unless this is a new iPhone 5 I believe the older ones will work with iOS6 and iTunes 10.6.3.  If it won't, you will need to upgrade operating system version.

  • HT201365 I had to change my email address because I was locked out of my previous address and change my Apple ID password due to the iOS 7 upgrade. Now iCloud will not recognize my new address nor my new password. Everything else on my apple devices accep

I was forced to change my email address, (was locked out of it). I also was forced to change my Apple password due to the iOS 7 upgrade. Everything on my iPhone and iPad, including iTunes, accepted my new email address change, except iCloud. And because I was forced to change my password, it doesn't recognize my old password or new password either. There is no way I can find to change my email address on iCloud, and so I'm stuck. I cannot delete iCloud account without proper email and password and it still shows my old email and doesn't allow it to be changed.

If Settings>iCloud is showing your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Anyone else having trouble with the music player with the iOS 5 upgrade?

When I play music on shuffle some songs won't play on my phone. I'm guessing it's some kinda bug. just wondering if anyone else has had this problem since upgrading to iOS 5

    Hi John,
Some of us were actually having major issues after the IOS 5 upgrade without music. Here is one solution.
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

  • HT5503 Every time I try to download the iOS 6 update on my iPhone 4 it tells me there us an error ????

Every time I try to download the iOS 6 upgrade it just tells me there is an error idk why I've tried almost everything I could think of

    Try these steps:
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone (or another iOS device)
See the steps below for error codes 3000-3999.
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

Does the iOS 8 works on a iphone 4S with only 8GB ?

    Thanks for your attention!
But some people told me that it makes it slower and the battery goes off sooner. Did you try it?

Can't I do the upgrade using just a wi-fi conection, download the new iOS and install it?

After Updating the iOS 7.04 on my iPhone 4S drain battery quickly even on standby mode & also doesn't respond volume up button, why?

My battery problem woes continues to persist.  Yesterday, I had about 85-90% battery life in the morning.  A couple hours later when I looked at the phone it was down to 65%.  At that point, I shut off wi-fi, bluetooth, and background app refresh.  I received one call shortly after that.  The call lasted about two minutes.  My battery was now down to 40%.  Another hour later, down to 16%!  Here's the kicker:  I plugged in the phone to a charger and it jumped to 65% in a matter of minutes.  I unplugged the phone and within a couple of hours it was back down to around 30%.  I plugged it in again and within 10 minutes it was up to 75%.
At first glance it looks very much like a hardware issue.  However, I never had this problem until I upgraded to 7.0.4.  Also, the above battery roller coaster ride isn't a constant.  That is, it seems that only sometimes this happens.  So...I'm thinking it's either an app running in the background eating up juice (though I have Background App Referesh turned off) or the iOS is buggy.

My iPhone5 power dwindles rapidly since the iOS 7 upgrade...why?

I assume you are joking. Like why after a year would I suddenly start holding my iPhone 5 differently immediately after the iOS 7 upgrade?
Anyway, a quick Google search shows I'm not alone:

"Siri, Are You There? -- Less firm are the problems I’ve experienced with Siri in iOS 7. At times, Apple’s servers are clearly having trouble, since I’ll get a message back from Siri telling me to try again later. And other times, I’ll say something to Siri and just get no response back at all — or at least no response in the amount of time I’m willing to wait before I perform the action manually. All this started when I began using preview builds of iOS 7 — under iOS 6, I’d become quite fond of Siri."

  • Seriously, what's the problem with Siri since the iOS 7 upgrade?

I don't know if it's just the fault of iOS 7 or not because I only have one Siri capable device and so I can't compare. But since upgrading my iPhone 5 to iOS 7,  Siri has definitely gotten much much slower, and sometimes ends up with the "Sorry I can't take your request now" response, which I never saw in iOS 6.
I've heard other people complain too.
Is it an iOS 7 problem? Has Apple changed Siri since releasing iOS 7?
With all their money, why can't they add enough servers to handle the load?
I'm on high-speed wifi almost all the time, and the pauses, delays and non-responsiveness has gotten seriously annoying. I used to miss Siri when I went from my iPhone 5 to my iPad 2, and was thinking of upgrading to the next iPad because of Siri (for one thing). But as of late I would classify Siri as more annoying than useful.
Are other people also having problems with Siri?
    Thanks,
    doug

I was trying to get the iOS 8.2 on my iPhone 5 but then it stopped and my phone is now on recovery mode I have pictures I need and they did not all fit on iCloud  how can I use the phone again with ALL my pictures and videos without restoring it?

Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes?  If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.
