  • Ever since I updated to the iOS 6, my itouch can't turn off. I pressed the two buttons and do not see the power off but instead it restarts every time. Help!

Before the ios upgrade, I could turn off my itouch just fine. Now it only restarts. Am I doing something wrong or is it the software? :/

  • HT1688 My iphone 4 is very slow since the IOS upgrade.  What can I do to bring it back to the speed it was prior to this upgrade ?

My iphone 4 is very slow sine the IOS upgrade.  What can I do to bring it back to the way it was before the upgrade.  It's turtle speed now!

I forgot to mention earlier: if you find that on-screen typing is very slow to register  then you might try logging out of iCloud and iTunes and the App Store in Settings/iCloud/[Delete Account] and Settings/iTunes and App Store/Apple ID [Sign Out]. Then reset the phone (press sleep/wake and home buttons together and hold until Apple logo appears), and then log back into iCloud and iTunes and the App Store in Settings again.

Double tap the Home button and swipe the app preview page up
iOS 7  also allows apps to run while they aren't open.
    You can manage these here:
Settings > General > Background App Refresh

  • IOS 6  iPhone 4 - can't turn off text alerts

In IOS 5, I was able to turn off (make silent) all text messages I got from Twitter.  Even while in silent mode, I got nothing.  Since I've upgraded to IOS 6, I have it set for 'vibration: none and text tone: none' in contacts and it sill vibrates while in silent mode.    When I'm not in silent mode, it works as expected.
I've peeked around in Settings and am afraid anything in there will affect all texts regardless of how I have them set up in Contacts.
    Any suggestions?

When I do that, it won't vibrate if I receive a call.   I'm wanting it be silent only for that 1 contact and only for a text message.  (which is how I had it set up in IOS 5).    Since there a 'none' under text tone in Contacts, I would think that should do it...

  • Sluggish! What can I turn off?

I'm wondering what I can turn off. I've been googling this all afternoon and trying to adjust system settings as I can, but my entire system is moving at a snail's pace since updating to Yosemite this morning (previously it was 10.6.8 and all was totally fine). I'm wondering about some of the things on the attached list when I look at my Activity Monitor.

    Try this as a start.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list.  Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
    Alternatively, see:
Reinstall OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Choose the version you have installed now:
OS X Yosemite- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Expose: The extremely annoying app that can't turn off.

How do you turn off Expose? Lately I wanted to see what my MacBook Pro was able to do. I came across something called Expose. I clicked it several times but I was not able to understand what it did. It just went black around the sides. 2 days later I found out.It was an extremely annoying app that that centred all your apps now I can't turn it off. Is anyone able to help me?

expose is a system feature and has never been able to be "turned off".
My solution, is don't use exposé.

  • The wifi on my iPod is turned off to save battery when not in use. I changed my password, but when I changed it, I must have mistyped it. I cannot restore my iPod, connect it to iTunes, or wipe it, as far as I've tried, and cannot contact Apple, HELP??

HELP?!?! I'm really frustrated! I tried connecting it to my iTunes on my computer, and it said I have to unlock the device for that to work.... and I don't know the password... :/

You need to place the iPod in recovery mode first before connecting to iTunes as this will allow you to bypass the passcode.  See this article for instructions on getting the iPod into recovery mode.

  • Can I turn off the setting to "erase iPad" if I find my lost iPad?

I lost my iPad a few weeks ago, and since the battery was dead, I couldn't find it using "Find my iPhone."  I was concerned that it could have been left somewhere in public, so I set it to erase the iPad upon connection to the internet.  Now I found the iPad last night.  Can I turn off the "erase iPad" setting in Find my iPhone?  It doesn't seem to allow this (I assume for some security reason, but I need to use my apple id to get into

Normally I would say no, but one user reported success with the procedure outlined in this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4076422?start=0&tstart=0.  Can't confirm if this actually worked but it may be worth a try.

  • Can't turn off airport

After installing snow leopard on my MacBook 13" I can't turn off airport from the top menu or from network utility.
Just now was successful in turning off Airport. I had to go to network preferences, click on automatic (not my regular network name), the apply button was no longer grayed out. Hit apply and was able to turn off the connection from preferences. Can now turn off and on from top menu

ok I just installed SNM LPD on 3 intel macs-older Imac 2.0ghz, newer 13"macbook 2.4ghz, and newer 24"Imac 2.4ghz. All of them worked ok except the Imac. I couldn't connect to a wireless network at all nor could I turn off the airport card. The system profiler saw the card and it seemed to be working fine. So I knew it was a software problem. I tried everything. I was just about to wipe the disk and reinstall everything (which would have taken 3 to 4 days) when I tried to add another network location profile. I've used the automatic profile forever, but then I thought I'd try a whole new location. I went to edit locations. Hit the plus button and named it. It populated the hardware and my airpot card (which was on but wouldn't connect) turned off. When I turn it back on (in the NEW location menu) it found all the nearest networks instantly. I found my home network and put in my password and it didn't give me the small "connection error" sign. I don't know what this glitch is but its annoying...hope its helps!
